Good Morning!
YIPPEE! Firstly, HAPPY MARCH 1st! A new month! I can’t believe how fast the time is going!
Also, a HIGH HOOF to John! He did look through his photos and found these for you! In them, I am at about the same stage of my Training Center Lessons at Mayberry Farm as Eblouissante is in her current photos. So you can see how many similarities we have in body, size, and EARS! Too cute!
ENJOY!
It was great to hear that I was able to help raise funds for the YMCA. $12,600…..this really makes me feel GREAT! This Y program operates on the goal of…not turning a child away. I am so grateful I could help. Dottie also let me know that my one shoe recently brought in $2000 for Ronald McDonald House. My Moneigh is currently being auctioned for ReRun to help horses in need! This is all so fabulous!
The other day, Dottie was explaining to me that I am a real MULTI-TASKER. She said this is a term used for one who can accomplish many things at one time…balance family, career, and outside responsibilities and goals…like fund-raising! She told me it is really something HUMANS do so often and well these days with all of their busy schedules and responsibilities! It requires a great deal of organization…for sure.
At this time, I’d like to say WOW to all of you MULTI-TASKERS out there! You should be proud of all that you do each day! I’m new at this…and trying my best! One thing for sure…it makes ME feel really terrific when I can complete a wide range of tasks and HELP OTHERS along the way!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

PS…..In the spirit of giving, we are doing a special thing for the Zenyatta Lounge this Saturday, March 5th. If any of you are starting ‘spring cleaning early’….and see a few things in your closet that you would like to ‘recycle and feel would be enjoyed by someone else’….please bring them to SANTA ANITA’S OPERATION OFFICE this Saturday. I know they would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Just trying to help….Z

Hi Zenyatta. Wow, what wonderful pictures of you as a two year old and of E. You are both so beautiful. Thank you Team Zenyatta for all of these wonderful memories that I will treasure forever. Keep them comin!! It is so wonderful to hear of all the charities benefiting from your generosity. You are all so awesome. Love you; sorry but we will be away for a couple of days and I will not have access to e-mail; will miss you terribly but will definitely catch up on Saturday. Till then, love you so, you Angel in Disguise.

I’d really like to know what Z’s actual age is in the above pic’s, not just her Jockey Club age. Same for Ebby. That could make a difference in their looks. Of course, we all know they have different sires and that makes a difference, but actual age can too. Anybody know?

Photo finish of Makoma’s win on Feb. 27th! Same great end run style as Zenyatta…http://www.santaanita.com/photo-finish/2011-02

@Jenna, Lane’s End does not host visitors between February and the end of June, period. Farm policies vary; some allow visitors year round, but LE has opted not to. Please remember that Lane’s End is a business. They stand 17 stallions, each of whom is probably seeing three mares a day right now. They have mares foaling and mares going off to other farms to be bred. They have horses to prepare for sale. They have breeders coming to inspect stallions. They have 3000 acres to manage. Stonestreet is a smaller operation. It is a home for Jess Jackson’s broodmare band; his stallions are located elsewhere. It is up to each farm to decide how to manage visitors such that they don’t interfere with business.

Yeah we all know that we can not visit and that our only contact will be the diary. That is just the way it is. It would be bad to upset the mares and cause them to loose their foals. The picture are wonderful MY QUEEN. I love you so. Hugs and Kisses.

Gotta love those ears!

At two years old you remind me a lot of my two year old filly I had. You and her were built the exact same way. Unfortunately my filly passed away at 2 years and 3 months old.
You and your sister look very similar aside from markings. I will be keeping an eye out on her.
Nancy McNaul Applegate
Amanda Gilliland said it all…..i just want to add that Zenyatta’s diary, as dictated to Dottie, has opened my eyes to many things about the racing and horse industries that i was previously unaware of. The Mosses with Zenyatta are the standard that all people involved with horses should aspire to.

@Caitlin and anyone needing directions to the Operations office. The easiest way is to enter Santa Anita via Baldwin Avenue, Gate 7, which is just north of the Westfield Shopping Center (there is a large Santa Anita neon screen at the entrance to this gate). Park on the west side of the racetrack. Enter through the south gate, which is just to the left of the large fountain. Directly ahead, you will see a tunnel opening, and to the left of this, a red stone walkway which borders the offices. Directly over each door is the name of the particular department. “Operations” is right after “Plant,” and faces a large outer opening, with a horse pen on the lawn to the left. While there, why not stop to visit some of the carriage horses, which are housed in the stalls just to the left of the Operations entrance?

HUGE THANK-YOU!! to John and Dottie for taking time out of their busy lives to share their pictures and wonderful stories and facts about Zenny and her relations.
@ DAWN CONRAD- I share the same feelings about Mr Don Robinson as you–also,I would think it would be very special if he was at the birth of Zenny’s foal- I believe Zenny gave him recognition that day when he went to see her (at the track-I think) because he had raised her with such great love and care and he had earned Zenny’s trust in him and he remained with her as she continued her journey in life. Anyway, I am a big animal lover and admire Mr Robinson and he gets an A plus from me!!! Good night,Janet C

Hi Zenny: Hope all is going well with you today. The pictures of you and your sister are beautiful. I also clicked on the link that @Ellen posted showing all your ancestors. It seems that you got your ears from Roberto and Kris S. And you got your white socks from as far back as Troy. That was a great link. Thanks to Ellen for sharing. Love you, Zenny.

Here’s a video of a new foal at Three Chimney’s Farm, going out in the snow with her mom for the first time. The mare (Santeria) looks an awful like someone we all know and love =-) Her baby won’t be this color though, that’s from dad Dynaformer. But if we’re lucky this time next year, we’ll be seeing this with Z:

Hi all. Here’s info on donations to the Zenyatta Lounge. You can ship donations to Santa Anita Park, ATTN: Pete Siberell, 285 W. Huntington Dr., Arcadia, CA 91007. They need:
Microwave oven, college-type fridge for soft drinks in the lounge, large wall clock, bedding: pillows, sheets, blankets, quilts (mostly for twin cots), towels and washcloths, toiletries, reading glasses, DVDs in Spanish (comedy and action).
Great story about the Zenyatta Lounge. Check it out:

Thanks! Please repost on your Facebook pages.

@Audreyc: Enjoyed your post and the link to Snowman. I hope there is a remake of his story in the future. And I agree about everything you said to Dottie.
@Ensign: “For anyone who might be interested….”, hmmm, like Yes! Please don’t stop sharing. I hope a photo shows up somewhere soon of the Street Cry –Treasure Trial filly.

@Bonnie thank you so much for the advice, I am trying to eat right. You know they tell you about the 5 year deal, its scary but i’m doing a lot of praying and trying to keep a positive attitude. I just can’t tell everyone enough how important it is to have those mammograms. You never think you’ll hear those bad words, but it happens. I have said many Thank you prayers that they found mine when they did. Zenny, lots of hugs and kisses sent your way. And Everybody Thank you all again, i’m scared i’ll miss somebody if I say names, but love you all.

For all who are missing there Zenyatta fix today, I have spent a fab day, ‘wasting’ my time, instead of getting on with what I’m supposed to be doing, visiting the Facebook pages of all the other racehorses. Just go to Z’s fb (click facebook at top right of this page)and then, type the name of another horse in ‘search’. Uncle Mo, or, To Honor & Serve,
Zazu, and they all have links to other horses on the left side. It’s an excelent way to avoid doing boring chores! I even found a cutie called Redabyebye, who is a career change TB, he is letting fans know how his new training is going. Zenyatta, you have really been a trendsetter in this field, you will be proud to know that a lot of the other TB’s are very kind and encouraging to one another via their FB pages. You have been a very good example to them, and they often mention you.

So Cal fans, I checked Hootie’s fb page and found an interesting KY Derby event at Santa Anita. Could be fun, and raises funds for TROTT, for which dear Hootie is the spokesperson. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=179826362057110&set=pu.175877012452045&theater

Hi Z! I just LOVE YOU! I have such a good time reading your posts! You are sooo funny and cute! Thanks to whomever types for you (Dottie I think!) Yes, you are a multi-tasker! And do some much good in this world!
Thank you so much for keeping up these posts! I get so much joy reading about you and your days… So glad you are doing well and I enjoy all the things you tell us about!

Bloodhorse had a wonderful interview to day with our David. He talks about Z and how well she is doing at LE , new pics posted too. Haven’t read all the posts, may have already been mentioned on the board. Good interview, check it out. Page down near the bottom of front page, left hand side.
Love ya Z.

Zenyatta, never having owned a horse before, I am curious as to what you call the white covering you wore over your nose when you raced and why you needed to wear it. “Z” you are a mysterious, magical horse with a good heart. You are LOVE personified.

Definately all eyes on Barbaro’s full siblings. He was
such an awesome boy.

@Molly,
She wore a ‘shadow roll’ on her noseband.
Here is a basic write up of what it does.

There is no rule that says pregnant mares can not have visitors. Stonestreet is a much smaller farm and has much less activity on their
Property so far less chance of issues that Lanes End has. So Lanes
End has to be more cautious and make sure their business during
Breeding season is not interrupted.

Good Evening , Zenyatta,
well another day come and gone. Can’t wait till tomorrow night, and then tgif :)
@ Audrey
my thoughts kinda go along w what you said,
except that may be the CA horse racing industry should consider a float representing its industry at the next Orange Bowl, and starting the tradition should be TEAM Z & Zenyatta because they have put on a different face to the industry, I know they’ve been honored in-house, but why not the first float in addition to Zenyatta, also, feature horses who were rescued, and won first prize in various competitions , to take part in the parade, to be seen and hopefully be adopted, and the competitions could be handled by kids, as a class project or different groups.
When I worked in rescue, and volunteered at the local shelter, we always had students doing community service for xtra credit.
And every yr another CA race horse would be selected for the float, and its team, and different rescue horses.
It would be a shame if this Zenyatta magic couldn’t work its spell to show a different side of the racing industry, more publicly. And it would be a nice legacy created for Zenyatta/team , race horses/their teams, rescue horses/ their teams, great show for the public.
Well, Zetty, it’s good night again, sleep tight & sweet dreams. :) :) :)
S
Z my dear you had a lot more body to grow into. Longer hip, better shoulder, would love to see a front and rear view of you at that age. All I know is that in person you have a presence that is hard to define. Your lil’ sis is beautiful but to expect her to duplicate you, is almost unfair. You both have a beautiful neck and expressive head and both have been blessed by good humans to care for and nurture you.

@audreyc–I loved the link to Snowman–thanks for sharing his heartwarming story.
@Laura J–Thanks for the link to Land’s End having five Horses of the Year on that one day.
@Ellen–Thanks for the link to Zenyatta’s ancestors!
