Good Morning!
YIPPEE! Firstly, HAPPY MARCH 1st! A new month! I can’t believe how fast the time is going!
Also, a HIGH HOOF to John! He did look through his photos and found these for you! In them, I am at about the same stage of my Training Center Lessons at Mayberry Farm as Eblouissante is in her current photos. So you can see how many similarities we have in body, size, and EARS! Too cute!
ENJOY!
It was great to hear that I was able to help raise funds for the YMCA. $12,600…..this really makes me feel GREAT! This Y program operates on the goal of…not turning a child away. I am so grateful I could help. Dottie also let me know that my one shoe recently brought in $2000 for Ronald McDonald House. My Moneigh is currently being auctioned for ReRun to help horses in need! This is all so fabulous!
The other day, Dottie was explaining to me that I am a real MULTI-TASKER. She said this is a term used for one who can accomplish many things at one time…balance family, career, and outside responsibilities and goals…like fund-raising! She told me it is really something HUMANS do so often and well these days with all of their busy schedules and responsibilities! It requires a great deal of organization…for sure.
At this time, I’d like to say WOW to all of you MULTI-TASKERS out there! You should be proud of all that you do each day! I’m new at this…and trying my best! One thing for sure…it makes ME feel really terrific when I can complete a wide range of tasks and HELP OTHERS along the way!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z
PS…..In the spirit of giving, we are doing a special thing for the Zenyatta Lounge this Saturday, March 5th. If any of you are starting ‘spring cleaning early’….and see a few things in your closet that you would like to ‘recycle and feel would be enjoyed by someone else’….please bring them to SANTA ANITA’S OPERATION OFFICE this Saturday. I know they would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Just trying to help….Z

@Signofthetimes, we will just have to keep our fingers crossed for Margano. He is Barbaro’s 2-year-old full brother, and I assume he is now in training. We can also hope that brothers Nicanor and Lentenor have a successful year.

Zenny–How do we love thee? Let us count the ways. You are amazing. Love the pictures and hope “E” follows along in your hoofprints as far as being loving and giving. Thanks you, Dottie, for teaching our Z to be a queen of multitasking like you.
@Karen Mitchell–love and hugs from here. Keep us updated please.

Good morning Zenyatta, &
@ Sharon in Seattle
I agree, and I was wondering if your Dottie should not receive a fee for keeping this blog, updating the website with personal pictures of you, events etc. which all in effect in one way or another support the horseracing industry especially in the sunny state of CA, it is in a way free advertising for them, too, so shouldn’t the Shirreffs, their barn, the Moss’ be compensated for that??? May be at the next Rose Bowl Parade, instead of having some cook be the grand marshal, may be the entire TEAM Z of course,( in my wildest dreams Zetty & foal being chauffeured in one of those huge pink cadillacs cruisers of old,)should lead the parade. But in all seriousness the horseracing industry is benefitting from this, there should be some form of acknowledgement, everybody’s time is money. Whattaya think, dear girl, do I make horse sense? :) Well, you & your pals have a real good day, it’s gonna be nice & cool here, definitely not looking forward to spring, but I know you are, than you can inhale the entire paddock. :) :) :)

Five Horses of the Year were on-site at Lane’s End on February 21.
Zen Fan
Idea for your foals name..begin with “N” to complete ZEN
Z- for Zenyatta
E-for Ebloissant
N- for “baby Zenyatta/Bernie”
Love reading all the posts!

To Peggy who just had a clean bill of health after cancer….I too had breast cancer and for over 6 1/2 yrs. now I’ve been healthy. Keeping a positive attitude and eating non-processed foods have helped me I believe. I’m thinking good thoughts for you and congratulations on your good news!

It’s funny how people can look at the same picture, and yet see different things. I see an awful lot of Vertigineaux in both of her daughters, and quite of bit of each of them in the other. Just like a human family! Thank you for posting these precious pictures. It will really be interesting to watch the development of Eblouissante’s personality, to see what little quirks and mannerisms she may share with her illustrious older sister.
Even though the last chapter of your storied career on the racetrack has been written and you are much less visible to us, it makes us feel close to you still, knowing that your beloved Team is very active in the world, doing good and helping others in your name. I cannot help but feel proud that Operations, my “barn” at Santa Anita, will be the collection site for the Zenyatta Lounge on Big ‘Cap Day, Saturday, March 5th.

Hi Z, you are such a special mare. Whenever I read your Diary post you give me a great feeling. You touch my heart so much in all that you do. You are truly a special girl. Hope all is well and you are feeling and doing good. Love you lots XOXOXOX:) to you and your team. P.S., Thank you Dottie, I can’t say that enough. You make my day with these postings. The information is so great, please keep them coming.

Dearest Sweet “Z”,
Yes, you truly are a great ‘multi-tasker’. We enjoyed your dancing, prancing, bowing and smiling before you tore through the Finish Line for 19 straight wins with ears pricked forward : ) Always ending with hug from Mike! You are a precious jewel, and it will be a thrill to witness your sissy “E” ‘multi-task’ as well someday. Continued Blessings to you and your family for their Spirit of Charity which has multiplied a hundred-fold.
Suzen
Thanks to Dottie and John for the “look back ” at Z as a youngster. Sister “E” is lovely too, and I see lots of similarities!
But to Zenny, you are amazing…to raise money for charity, what’s better than that?
You set the bar higher and higher every day, there, big girl!
Marilyn
@JLG I was so touched by your donation of the pear trees for elephants in honor of Zenyatta. It’s awful that your job was phased out. I hope that your generous donation may lead to wonderful new happenings in your life.
Jeanie
My Dear Z,
You are so cute as a two year old, and of course, you are now splendidly beautiful and majestic! Your little sis is cute too and I am sure she will become a beauty like you are. It is obviously passed from your beautiful and majestic mother. Hope you are feeling well these days and enjoying yourself thoroughly. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you! Love you, J

Zenny, Dottie I hope it is okay for me to post this request here, I know you guys do a lot to help horses in this country and I am so upset by what is happening to the wild horses in our country and if people will just look at the photo in the link and please write or call your congressman and senators and demand that they stop using our tax money to torture horses! I’m so horrified by this photo every one needs to see this & to demand
that our taxes are not used to abuse horses imagine the terror of this
little baby ripped literally from her mother! I urge you to view
this image and really think about what’s happening here in this country & why

I hope everyone will make a call or send a letter or an email to the BLM and your elected officials and Ken Salazar, our nations horses deserve better, you can get all the info at Madeleine Pickens Wild Horse Sanctuary
Thanks and sorry but this was so upsetting to me and as a hopefully soon to be Mama I know you would not want to see this happening to other horses. I love you Zenny
Gloria Jeanne

I too am very good at this :)
Thanks for the update, Love you and Fam :) Keep up the great job- thanks to Dottie and John for all you do to keep us informed and up to date.
Annie
Zen, you are a wonder on and off of the race track. Love your diary and all of the information that comes with it. You are a multitasking Zen Master. Dottie, thank you so much.
Rose
Beautiful pictures of 2 beautiful girls…
Rose
Yes, I hate the round up of the wild horses too..my wish, Zennyatta please ask them to stop, if you were the poster girl it would stop…
I could just see you pawing the dirt and dancing for your ancient ones.
Its all about Dreams…
Jenna

I know we all would love love love to see Zen but I truly believe Lane’s End is doing the right thing right now keeping the number of visitors down. There is no telling what large groups of folks can bring into a safe area for the horse. I am not being critical of you please understand, I just worry what could happen to our precious girl right now.

GLORIA [Above^] posted a full ‘wish list’ of items needed at Santa Anita`s ‘Zenyatta Women`s Lounge.’ A mailing address: To The ZWL, Santa Anita Park, 285 West Huntington Drive; Arcadia, CA 91007 [c/o Pete Siberell] worked during ‘Z`s’ Secretariat Vox Populi Award weekend. ~ Also, along w/ RHONDA CLEMENT`s note just [Above^], busy legislators at the national level, bent on shredding decades of trusted laws protecting fragile air, water, and environmental crochet, also managed to endanger animal species protections with some breath-takingly short-sighted maneuvers. The Humane Society Legislative Fund and League of Conservation Voters [www.lvc.org] both published voting records of US Senators & Members of the House of Representatives state by state in the past two days. Both groups hope enlightened voters, also state-by-state, will catch up w/ their elected officials and send notes of encouragement for good records and of correction for records our next generations may regret.

correction: it could also be a TEAM Z decision for Zen right now.

You have beautiful balanced conformation. I just love your butt. What power! Ebby is very nice also but quite different I think. I loved the picture pedigree on TVG Community. Some beautiful ancestors. I think you get your ears from Roberto, ha.

re: audreyc post mar 2 – I agree about this being a whole new social network – and one of education- love of the horse. Zenyatta would never have achieved that which she has – were it not for the people behind her. – thanks audreyc for this post! And I’ll look up that movie about Snowman.
Thank you Dottie and John for bringing Zenyatta into our lives this way. I have tears in my eyes. Zen is teaching me so much. I’ll share more on that later. Love getting to meet her little sister. I really feel part of Zen’s family. I love horse racing and race horses so much, and I’m feeling more connected now. Dottie, your writing is wonderful! Thanks for being Zen’s scribe!
Debbie R. (SmartyCat)
Dearest Queen Z: I am a Southern belle from New Orleans and would love to contribute to the Zenyatta Lounge, but cannot be at Santa Anita in person on Sat. Would you or Dottie please tell me exactly what type of recyclable items you need and the address where I can mail them.
GUESS WHAT?? I met YOUR #1 GUY – MIKE – 2 weeks ago at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans. I wrote him a note and he was nice enough to meet with me and personally sign 3 photos of beautiful YOU, which I now have displayed in beautifully matted frames. What a special day for me. Spending time with Mike made me feel closer to YOU; he is 1 special GUY and you were both so lucky to have EACH OTHER. Maybe 1 day I’ll be lucky enough to meet YOU. I have visited Lane’s End and met your sire-in-law (A.P.Indy). I follow your website daily. Thank YOU – beautiful girl – and Dottie & John for all the wonderful videos & phtographs and for educating many of your readers & fans who are unfamiliar with Thoroughbred racing and breeding. Our sport needs lots of loyal & knowledgeable fans and YOU are doing a splendid job of sharing your knowledge.
