Good Morning!
YIPPEE! Firstly, HAPPY MARCH 1st! A new month! I can’t believe how fast the time is going!
Also, a HIGH HOOF to John! He did look through his photos and found these for you! In them, I am at about the same stage of my Training Center Lessons at Mayberry Farm as Eblouissante is in her current photos. So you can see how many similarities we have in body, size, and EARS! Too cute!
ENJOY!
It was great to hear that I was able to help raise funds for the YMCA. $12,600…..this really makes me feel GREAT! This Y program operates on the goal of…not turning a child away. I am so grateful I could help. Dottie also let me know that my one shoe recently brought in $2000 for Ronald McDonald House. My Moneigh is currently being auctioned for ReRun to help horses in need! This is all so fabulous!
The other day, Dottie was explaining to me that I am a real MULTI-TASKER. She said this is a term used for one who can accomplish many things at one time…balance family, career, and outside responsibilities and goals…like fund-raising! She told me it is really something HUMANS do so often and well these days with all of their busy schedules and responsibilities! It requires a great deal of organization…for sure.
At this time, I’d like to say WOW to all of you MULTI-TASKERS out there! You should be proud of all that you do each day! I’m new at this…and trying my best! One thing for sure…it makes ME feel really terrific when I can complete a wide range of tasks and HELP OTHERS along the way!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z
PS…..In the spirit of giving, we are doing a special thing for the Zenyatta Lounge this Saturday, March 5th. If any of you are starting ‘spring cleaning early’….and see a few things in your closet that you would like to ‘recycle and feel would be enjoyed by someone else’….please bring them to SANTA ANITA’S OPERATION OFFICE this Saturday. I know they would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Just trying to help….Z

Meant to say E looks more like her Dad in the face, than she looks like Zenny.

Thanks for the photos! Your sister is beautiful! Like you, and I wish her as much success (a hard act to follow)!
I am so pleased to read all the good things you are doing on and off the track. It warms my heart. Hugs

Dear Zenyatta, I was talking to a friend after seeing you win the 2009 BC. I told her then you were pure perfection in a horse. Every time I see a picture or video of you, you still take my breath away. You are truly God’s gift to all of us. In seeing your 2 yo pictures, I wish we could do your career one more time, so everyone who didn’t see you run in person could or just be able to witness your amazing beauty before, during and after a race. I will never forget the memories you have given me and so look forward to the new memories to come. And thank you Dottie for continuing to share Zenyatta’s amazing life today with us. You rock!

@ Ensign – saw the answer to my question posted on #96, at the end of #96, regarding the foal when his/her dam is being mated. Thank you.
Also, I obviously could (& probably am) be very wrong – but looking at the pics of Z & Eblouissante, it appears that Eblouissante is a bit finer boned than Zenyatta…again,I may be totally wrong…it IS just pics. However, the main thing is that they are all individuals – which is the best part of all. No one ever really wants another Secretariat, or an Alydar, or a Seabiscuit, or a Zenyatta, etc. Each one is special, in their own way…and that is the magic. This is how it should be. We all look for another great one – but each, with their distinctive, and unique, foot- (hoof) print. This is probably off-topic, but still very relevant. I have posted the link to “Snowman” – an incredible jumper – inducted into the Hall of fame. He was a 7 year old plow horse, sent to the New Holland auction, and on his way to slaughter, when he was rescued by a hunter/jumper trainer (back in the 50’s). This horse had incredible talent – although it was never discovered, until he was taken off of the kill truck. The trainer saw something in his eyes, yet even he had no inkling of what this horse was capable of, until much later. …It is a really good story, and heartwarming.(Disney did a movie, way back when) I believe a new book is currently being written about him .

Dottie – your wonderful posts, and Zenyatta’s website, has created a whole new social network – and one of education- love of the horse. Zenyatta would never have achieved that which she has – were it not for the people behind her. All horses have sooo much to give , each in their own way- if only we listen… Thank you so much.

I can see that your 2 yr. old photos look like you, Z, yet different. How tall were you then? I’m trying to get a feel for what changed. I wish I had a way to put you “now” next to you “then” for comparison.

Oh thank you so much St Dottie and please thank John and Mr. Kronfeld for the lovely pics of these too great mares. They sure do have similarities, and I hope Z’s foal is as great looking a Ebby with that Bernie influence. I hope Mr. Kronfeld keeps us posted on her progress as we don’t have our Zen to watch race anymore. I am trying to keep up with John’s and the Mosses horses because I luv to root for them and applaud their successes.
@ Ellen- thank you so much for that post on Z’s ancestry, it is truly fascinating to look at all of them and see if there are similarities. Sleep tight Zen we’re still awaiting the exciting news of your baby. Luv and kisses on your nose

Hi Zenny, thanks to John for those beautiful pictures of you at two years old. I just love the pictures and they are so you. It is so exciting to see you at that age. You are so beautiful and seeing you at your younger age just goes to show that you aged in such a beautiful way. Your sister E. looks great and there are family resembleses but I have to say you are the beauty of the group. I wish E. much luck for her future and if she works as hard as you did she should do well. She certinly has good balance and has the look of a winner, not to mention that she is your half sister. I’m sure that you must be excited about her. I am interested in following you right now and wish that all will work out great for you. Zenyatta is what I am all about. It will always be that way for me Zen. Stay happy and spend as much time as you can in the paddock doing what you like best. I loe you much dear Zenyatta.

Wow. Each day’s diary entry is always better than the day before and it proves that Zenyatta is still filling my heart as much now as when she was on the track. Beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing the wonderful pictures of young sis Ebby and our wondermare Zenyatta as a youngster. We are so blessed that the beautiful people who became Zenyatta’s team had such goodness and foresight and whatever else my lack of words misses that they gave the care, the love and attention to take these pictures of our young Zenny to share with us now. I’m not doing a very good job of expressing my feelings, but all I can say is simply thank you. Dottie, you are amazing. To Karen (I think), I am wishing good thoughts for your mother. To Ellen (hope I get these names right) – thank you for the link to the TVG discussion of Zenyatta’s family. Wow. Thank you all!

Will check it out. Thanks

@ensign
Looks like they are going to get to Street Cry through V’s daughter since she probably will not again be bred to him. E would be good
Mate for Street Cry but he may be too old by the time she becomes a
Broodmare.

@LauraJ
Thanks for the great review of successful/great full siblings. I guess
That is why everyone continues to try. It would be wonderful to have another Barbaro. Mother Nature is in charge!!!
I am not sure why Steeplechase seems to looked down upon. I personally think it would be a greater adrenalin rush than racing.
I really enjoy watching it.

Good Evening Zenyatta….loved seeing the pic’s of you and your sister. I just found out Eblouissante is french for “DAZZLING”……I have a feeling she is going to DAZZLE us when she goes to the race track. :) That is so cool she is going to be trained by John Shirreffs, I bet you are so HAPPY about that……you know your Little Sister will be in good hands.
connie carter

Hi Zenny, I love your baby pics! Thanks to John for finding them for us.
I also enjoyed the pics of your sister. She’s pretty, just like you. I wonder if she’ll love to race like you did. I’m sure your mother is proud!!
Thanks for all that you do to help others. You and all of Team Z are awesome!
Have a good night!
Love to all,

Here’s to the multi-taskers Z and Dottie! Long may they live!
@LauraJ–Wow, what great info on successful full siblings(towards end of Diary 96)! Thanks so much.
Ed
I wonder if Don Robinson thinks that Zeny’s sister will be as great a race horse as Zenyatta. Will she have the “come from behind / circle the pack” mentality or style? What exactly did Don teach you, “Z”? You had so many great teachers. What exactly does a trainer do? Did John teach you different things than Don covered? I am interested in your schooling. You must have been the Valedictorian!

Hi Zenyatta,
Oh, such beautiful sisters!!!
Love the pictures. You know something, the first picture of you at Mayberry Farm has two bright spots on the front. I have heard these referred to as Orbes. Some people say these are actually Angels showing us that they are with us. It does not suprise me that they are in your picture because you are a special gift sent from Heaven. I also noticed one in a picture I took of you at Hollywood Park in December. I’ll see if I can find it.
I’m happy you are enjoying the finer things in life such as Brunch and pears. Keep on being wonderful you and sharing your life. You are so very loved!!!
Lydia
It appears that fillies run in the family. The majority of Vertigneaux’s offspring have been fillies. My precious Zenyatta chances are good your bundle of joy will be a filly as well. I pray that all goes well with your pregnacy. Thanks John for the wonderful photos of Z and E. Thanks Dottie for all you do. It is so appreciated. I live for your updates about our beautiful girl. Zenyatta my sweet, be safe and happy.
LauraJ
@Ensign, thanks for the news. Congrats to Treasure Trail and her connections. Much racing success for the new filly!

Can’t tell if this is an official site, but Z’s mommy now has a facebook. :)
