Good Morning!
YIPPEE! Firstly, HAPPY MARCH 1st! A new month! I can’t believe how fast the time is going!
Also, a HIGH HOOF to John! He did look through his photos and found these for you! In them, I am at about the same stage of my Training Center Lessons at Mayberry Farm as Eblouissante is in her current photos. So you can see how many similarities we have in body, size, and EARS! Too cute!
ENJOY!
It was great to hear that I was able to help raise funds for the YMCA. $12,600…..this really makes me feel GREAT! This Y program operates on the goal of…not turning a child away. I am so grateful I could help. Dottie also let me know that my one shoe recently brought in $2000 for Ronald McDonald House. My Moneigh is currently being auctioned for ReRun to help horses in need! This is all so fabulous!
The other day, Dottie was explaining to me that I am a real MULTI-TASKER. She said this is a term used for one who can accomplish many things at one time…balance family, career, and outside responsibilities and goals…like fund-raising! She told me it is really something HUMANS do so often and well these days with all of their busy schedules and responsibilities! It requires a great deal of organization…for sure.
At this time, I’d like to say WOW to all of you MULTI-TASKERS out there! You should be proud of all that you do each day! I’m new at this…and trying my best! One thing for sure…it makes ME feel really terrific when I can complete a wide range of tasks and HELP OTHERS along the way!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z
PS…..In the spirit of giving, we are doing a special thing for the Zenyatta Lounge this Saturday, March 5th. If any of you are starting ‘spring cleaning early’….and see a few things in your closet that you would like to ‘recycle and feel would be enjoyed by someone else’….please bring them to SANTA ANITA’S OPERATION OFFICE this Saturday. I know they would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Just trying to help….Z

Hiya great big Mama Z! Great to hear about the auctions that brought so much money to help others. That’s awesome. I may have some leftover things for the lounge. I’ll check it out as I’m hoping to get to Santa Anita Saturday to see Zazu run! Love to you, sweet Zenyatta. You rock! XOXO

Dear Zenyatta, You and Ebbie sure did get the beauty gene from your mom. Now to see if she’s as talented as you or even close? I hope so for John and her owners that she’s successful I do remember reading somewhere that Z was a bit of a handful for riders in the beginning.
Thank you for sharing these beautiful photo’s.
The charities are wonderful that Z supports. The lounge, Rerun and the YMCA!!! She just keeps on giving.
Love & Hugs!

@Ensign – thanks for your answer in yesterday’s diary post re:clipping. Still think it looks silly, when she has such a pretty coat. Hopefully they’ll let her grow out. thanks!

Dear Z and Dottie,
Thank you for these photos. Both of you are really beautiful. Z, you have no idea at a time when a lot of people are having economic difficulties, how much you are helping with the Ladies Lounge at Santa Anita, the children at the “Y” and all the other fund raising you do for retired racers. We saw a photo of your Moneigh at the auction website. It’s lovely, like you. Love to all of you.

Dear Zenyatta – So great to see your baby pics! Also I love your sister E’s cute hair trim on her coat. It is so unique, kind of like the horse Caracortado. The poster of the link to all your ancestors, wow, thanks, that was so interesting and so fun to see all the horses that went into the making of the one and only Zenyatta. Stay well and happy in Kentucky.
Can’t wait to see your sister when she comes to California

Nancy
Zenyatta. Will you run for President? We need some common sense in the White House, and you have a lot of that to go around. Plus, you are so darn nice.
suew
Zenny…I second what Nancy said. Will you run for president? As a first rate multi-tasker you would do a fabulous job.
Dottie…you continue to amaze me. It’s so evident that you actually read these posts. We have asked for pictures of Z as a youngster and here they are! Zenny, you’re beautiful inside and out. Wish I could have won that auction but I’m so happy for the winners because they love you so and the $ will go to a great cause.
Thanks for sharing photos of your family with us. We really are “connected” in the best sense of the word.

Thank you so much for the pictures of you from your adolescent years. Great to have!

Z, you are doing so much to help so many. You retired…in one way and went to work helping others…what a wonderful thing to do !! People always tell me when they retire they are so busy they do not know how they had time to work.:)

Just saw the link you posted on Z’s ancestors. Thank you so much. It’s incredible. You could see the beautiful ears, the various different blazes on the beautiful faces, the long legs and one of them had the two white rear socks (think it was Princequillo). The resemblance to Z, in conformation of some of them too, is really something. So interesting.

Just out of curiosity, Z, how many race horses do the Moss’ own? What are their names? Seems like every other day I hear of another one that belongs to them. Sure would be nice to follow them as well. Pray that you are well and out of the Kentucky tornados.
LouAnn Cingel of Union, Missouri
Very nice pics of you at two yrs old Zenyatta=glad that John Shirreffs found them-and the pics of Eblouissante are nice too=can actually see resemblances in the two of you.
It is absolutely wonderful that you help to raise money for others in need and also for other horses=it just seems that you keep giving but rest assured Zenyatta, it is all for good causes and is surely appreciated. You do others so much good and I am sure that you bring happiness and smiles to many others.
You are unforgettable and just keep sparkling getting brighter and brighter.
Love & Blessings to you Zenyatta

Many thanks to John for digging out those photos of Zen at Winter Quarter Farm as well as the photos of E for comparison at about the same age of 2. I see similarities with respect to overall conformation and the big hind end, long neck, and good shoulder. I am just wondering how E covers ground and the size of her stride as well as her overall balance. Mike E has said that, while Zen had great power and size, she had great balance, and that it was never like riding a draft horse but rather like riding a gazelle. I know she covered ground far better than the average thoroughbred with those giant strides and loved to run. Time will tell whethe E has the will to run and enjoy doing it like Zen did. That is the overraching question. Zen loved to split horses, loving the physical contact. But if John is high on E, there must be something there.
Katie Clawson
Great pictures Zenny!! Hats off to John! You and Eblouissante have very similar qualities. Both of you are VERY PRETTY! I am very anxious to see how Eblouissante will do in her racing career! I’m sure she will try her best(just like you) and hopefully will succeed!!
Love, Katie(future jockey)

Thanks to John for finding the 2 yr.old photos–they are great! I do hope that the crazy weather near there was not a problem for you–and that the storms will go around Lane’s End. Have a peaceful night and sweet dreams, dear girl. Much love to you,as always!!

Dearest, Zenny. What a lovely young lady you were and Ebby is just a gorgeous teenager. Thank you, John, for going through your pictures. We always enjoy seeing the family photos. Don Robinson appears to be truly one of those special salt of the earth types and he has to feel so good about being part of your early development, Zenyatta. He is starting out the babies in his care wonderfully, giving them the necessary foundation to become the best they can be. What they learn when they are young can make all the difference in the final outcome. I am so happy for John and everyone at Barn 55 that they get another big special girl to work with and Ebby is one lucky filly to be in such capable, loving hands. Congratulations on the fundraiser for the YMCA and I hope the Moneigh biding is successful, how could it not be with you involved. You certainly do make a difference in all of our lives each and everyday, Zenny. You and Dottie are amazing examples of great multi-taskers. I agree Zenyatta, there are many intelligent, talented, positive, generous and supportive women on this site who should be very proud of all that they are accomplishing and how they are effecting the lives that they touch. (Don’t what to leave out the men also!) Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@Karen Mitchell – I know you cannot physically feel a hug from me, but I am sending one to you anyway with all my love and support. (HUG….) It is so difficult when time brings on the reversal of our roles as caretakers. Know my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your parents. Keep us posted.
