Good Morning!
YIPPEE! Firstly, HAPPY MARCH 1st! A new month! I can’t believe how fast the time is going!
Also, a HIGH HOOF to John! He did look through his photos and found these for you! In them, I am at about the same stage of my Training Center Lessons at Mayberry Farm as Eblouissante is in her current photos. So you can see how many similarities we have in body, size, and EARS! Too cute!
ENJOY!
It was great to hear that I was able to help raise funds for the YMCA. $12,600…..this really makes me feel GREAT! This Y program operates on the goal of…not turning a child away. I am so grateful I could help. Dottie also let me know that my one shoe recently brought in $2000 for Ronald McDonald House. My Moneigh is currently being auctioned for ReRun to help horses in need! This is all so fabulous!
The other day, Dottie was explaining to me that I am a real MULTI-TASKER. She said this is a term used for one who can accomplish many things at one time…balance family, career, and outside responsibilities and goals…like fund-raising! She told me it is really something HUMANS do so often and well these days with all of their busy schedules and responsibilities! It requires a great deal of organization…for sure.
At this time, I’d like to say WOW to all of you MULTI-TASKERS out there! You should be proud of all that you do each day! I’m new at this…and trying my best! One thing for sure…it makes ME feel really terrific when I can complete a wide range of tasks and HELP OTHERS along the way!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z
PS…..In the spirit of giving, we are doing a special thing for the Zenyatta Lounge this Saturday, March 5th. If any of you are starting ‘spring cleaning early’….and see a few things in your closet that you would like to ‘recycle and feel would be enjoyed by someone else’….please bring them to SANTA ANITA’S OPERATION OFFICE this Saturday. I know they would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Just trying to help….Z
Nancy
Thanks so much for the great pics! You’re ALL the greatest!!!
Laquita
Thanks to all of Zenyatta’s team for these wonderful, insightful posts. We love ALL of you. Please, please, keep them coming!

I have to echo “darlene’s” words – kudos to Dottie, the queen of multi-taskers!! We may never know the full extent of her talents, but BOY OH BOY do we (fans) ever appreciate it!!
Z and E – beauty all around!!
Patricia
Zen- thank you for the photos of you and
“E!” You both are BEAUTIFUL GIRLS! The development of “E” will be an exciting time and just think of all of the fans she has automatically inherited as being the sister of ZENYATTA the Queen! I cannot wait to see her race. Such a striking physical resemblance to her BIG SIS! Awesome work with all of your fund raising for those that need help. About 10 years ago I was a Development Director for a national non-[rofit…it really opened my eyes to some of the hardships that people face day to day. This is wonderful that you are helping to contribute in this way!!
Anyway…I just watched a new video of you on youtube “Just the Queen!” Tears of joy, tears of joy…that is all I can say,
except thank you and we love you so much!
Enjoy your day at LE!
Pat
Love the pictures of you at 2. You and your sister are both beautiful, but you’re definitely the most beautiful. A bit of white looks good on a girl, don’t you think?
Lauren
Dear Zenny – How cute you were as a 2 year old – and you are even more beautiful now. You aren’t getting older, you are getting better. E is a beautiful girl also. I can’t wait to see her race. Multi-tasking is sometimes hard to do but I am sure as time goes on you will get the hang of it. If you ever need a social secretary, I would be more than willing to assist you. You are the greatest. Love and kisses beautiful girl.

Hey Zen!
Looked at the link from a post above to see your ancestors…Hoist the Flag, Roberto…remarkable, how you look like them. And the ears…gotta love the ears!
XOXO
Lauren
@Ellen – Thank you for the link to Z’s family tree. It seems to me that she looks a little like Roberto.
Penny
You and the entire team are are to be admired for all your generous charity work. Try and come up with sale items that are affordale for your grandstand groupies!
Darryl
Love the pictures of you at 2 beautiful then and you are more beautiful now. Hope John can find some more. And the link to you ancestors is remarkable….
There are so many fantastic horses in your family tree. Ears everything has to do with those perfect ears !!
Jenna
Zenyatta has brought together so many thoughtful giving people. It takes a village but it takes a catalyst and Zenyatta is that for us. I hope I can meet some of you all someday!
Thank you Dottie for all that you are.

YOU MUST BE SO PROUD

Remember yesterday we talked about twins? For those interested, very rarely twins will be born and survive. In 1959, the broodmare Danger Ahead foaled twin sisters by To Market. Both lived and grew up to become decent racehorses. One sister, Go On Green, had a record of 32-7-3-9 and won $24,000. Her twin, Stop On Red, had a record of 51-7-5-9 and won a little over $15K. Go On Green gave birth to five foals, all by Carry Back. None was special, but a couple were useful racehorses. Her granddaughter Bold Greenback was a stakes winner. Stop On Red also produced six starters out of eight foals, all winners. Her daughter Elmarlyn started 65 times and won almost $53K. Daughter Sweet as Wine was a stakes winner. Another daughter, Spectacular, was a useful racehorse: stakes placed with a record of 10-4-1-0. She covered herself with glory in the foaling barn, as the dam of the great champion and Horse of the Year Spectacular Bid.

Happy March 1st to you and everyone at Barn 55 too! Yes I see an amazing resemblence with you and E. Hope all is well!

AS FANS ( AND I SPEAK FOR MYSELF) FEEL SO PROUD TO HAVE A CONNECTION WITH SUCH A DEAR CREATION AND A TEAM THAT STANDS UP FOR THOSE IN NEED. LOVE YOU ZENYATTA
L
I’ve got to be honest, I don’t see much of V in her girls.
Zenyatta looks like Roberto, almost a dead on copy and E looks just like daddy Bernie.

ps TO ANY ONE
How long does it take to grow back a mane?I love her no matter what but a Girls hair is important.
Sheri
Aw you were so adorable at 2! And you are still adorable now! Wow you look a lot like you sisiter! Your mom must be so proud of the amazing foals she had! And now you will know what that feels like when you have your foal! How amazing is that?! Love you Zenyatta! Keep being yourself!!! :D
L
@Christine,
Depends if the mane is just pulled or if it’s completely roached.
LauraJ
@christine, not to worry, nothing happened to Zenyatta’s mane. She still has it. When she said she got her mane “pulled,” she just meant that the old loose hairs were pulled out using fingers or a comb. It makes the mane look neater. Also, it hangs on one side of her neck, so it’s not visible if you see her from the other side.

Hello Zeny: You looked great at two and still looking more gorgeous than ever. After all the hard work, sacrifice and races you’ve won – enjoy your new life. We grow more beautiful as we age. Love you, MV

Thanks so much for posting these pix– enjoyed them!
Yes, definite family resemblance between the sisters! Hard to say, but I’m thinking Z is somewhat narrower in the muzzle.. but the body, ears, color are the same. Looking fwd to following Z’s baby sis~!

Wikipedia actually has a fairly well detailed run down on manes. It details out needs for various disciplines, breed standards, braid styles and the like.

Received info recently that my job is being phased out and I will have to learn to live on SS. Funds will become very limited around here.
However, on Sunday in comes an opportunity to donate fruit trees, including pears!, to some elephants in Tenn that I have supported for years. Since you had such a delightful brunch for us on Sunday I thought it was only fair that I donate so some other 4-legged friends could share with us also. The trees I donated were in honor of Zenyatta (that’s YOU!) having discovered pears too!
Love you, big girl, and do so appreciate all the work that goes into your diary.

Hi, Zen,
Great pictures! Thank you and John and Mr. Kronfeld, and Don Robinson so much! Only connections who are so personally involved in their horses would take the time to try to keep fans so happy! I hope we never get to be too much trouble, and that we don’t forget to say “thank you” for all that they do! Hugs. Your friend, Ann Maree

Wow, Zenny. You were so cute even at 2–you already looked big enough to be a full-grown racehorse! I do see the resemblance between you and your sister, E. Thanks to John for the photos, and of course, to Dottie, for translating your thoughts so well!!
You were a terrific multitasker, Zenny. You raced, you trained diligently, you socialized with your fans, you entertained your family members, you worked on behalf of charities, and you even had time left over to contemplate nature, airplanes, and barn animals like the kitty who was a great friend. You are my role model, Zenny! Love and Kisses :) Sue

Zenny, your sister is as lovely as you are. Great pics. The real question is… can she dance?

Mr. Don Robinson . .. thanks for another man, where, ‘.. there`s not a bad vibe in the house,’ [Jerry Moss]. After some turbulence, NY Times,` “Curbing That Pesky Rude Tone,” by Richard Dooling, Published: February 28, 2011, acknowledges the All-American, flat-out public forum, yet notes Tucson`s new civility institute & praises tone-of-voice wisdom greater than Solomon before the impulse to ‘uninhibited, robust and wide open .. . vehement and caustic’ retorts .. .’ http//www.nytimes.com/2011/03/01/opinion/01civility.html . .. ending w/ ~ “Politeness, n. The most acceptable hypocrisy.” [Ambrose Bierce quotation]. In the dark of obscurity, insight eventually adjusts, allowing to be weighed all that glistens, especially a bright good humor that defends the right to write all you disagree with, no nipping & tucking or sniping along the way.

Please make prints available of Zenyatta and her 3 friends lounging in the pasture. Would be happy to buy several! Something for every TB lover…bay, chestnut and gray.
Kathleen
Your sister is quite beautiful, Zen. In comparing the two of you, your hip and shoulder are better than your sisters, but her’s are pretty darn good as well
