Good Morning!
YIPPEE! Firstly, HAPPY MARCH 1st! A new month! I can’t believe how fast the time is going!
Also, a HIGH HOOF to John! He did look through his photos and found these for you! In them, I am at about the same stage of my Training Center Lessons at Mayberry Farm as Eblouissante is in her current photos. So you can see how many similarities we have in body, size, and EARS! Too cute!
ENJOY!
It was great to hear that I was able to help raise funds for the YMCA. $12,600…..this really makes me feel GREAT! This Y program operates on the goal of…not turning a child away. I am so grateful I could help. Dottie also let me know that my one shoe recently brought in $2000 for Ronald McDonald House. My Moneigh is currently being auctioned for ReRun to help horses in need! This is all so fabulous!
The other day, Dottie was explaining to me that I am a real MULTI-TASKER. She said this is a term used for one who can accomplish many things at one time…balance family, career, and outside responsibilities and goals…like fund-raising! She told me it is really something HUMANS do so often and well these days with all of their busy schedules and responsibilities! It requires a great deal of organization…for sure.
At this time, I’d like to say WOW to all of you MULTI-TASKERS out there! You should be proud of all that you do each day! I’m new at this…and trying my best! One thing for sure…it makes ME feel really terrific when I can complete a wide range of tasks and HELP OTHERS along the way!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z
PS…..In the spirit of giving, we are doing a special thing for the Zenyatta Lounge this Saturday, March 5th. If any of you are starting ‘spring cleaning early’….and see a few things in your closet that you would like to ‘recycle and feel would be enjoyed by someone else’….please bring them to SANTA ANITA’S OPERATION OFFICE this Saturday. I know they would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Just trying to help….Z

Thank you to all who responded.
I wasn’t asking why people could not visit Zenyatta, I was wondering about the care of Rachel Alexandra, if/when in foal. I’d be afraid someone would pass on a virus or something.
Thank you! and have a nice night!!

What neat and wonderful things you are doing, Miss Z. I aspire to multitask while helping others as you do! Thank Dottie and John for those wonderful pictures of you and E! I do see the family resemblance. Very exciting in thinking of your future. Love you Big Girl.

Dear DANI: Missed your comments of 22nd FEBR., on #90, but thank you. ~ Tonight the music of Carole King & James Taylor on PBS`s ‘American Masters’ is called “The Rise of the Singer-Songwriter,” and celebrates the 40th Anniversary of TAPESTRY. “It was the moment, with no barrier for the artist and the art,” said Steve Martin, of the void filled after the exhaustion sex, drugs & rock `n` roll left, when artists needed to leave the ploys of the machine and ‘get people to feel.’ Originality in the individual, and the strength of a singular art, was called for, to move into the stream and create an eddy, where rest is not only possible, but crucial, for the gestation of the next good thing. ~ In ‘SEABISCUIT: An American Legend’ Laura Hillenbrand was able to record not only the history of certain people vital to the restored life of an unwanted horse, she was also the poet of an American strain of resilience appearing over and again to convince us we need, rather than parroting a mechanical norm, to echo into life a distinctive gift, which, if we do not bring it, may not come at all. Zenyatta stands for that miracle which does not fit into a mold, but brings from a wealth of individuals her singular incarnation. And brings it by fits and starts, conditioned by a nucleus of gifted individuals, themselves in the habit of looking for, recognizing and summoning what was and is rare in themselves and in her — willing to leave a thread or two imperfect, so as not to offend the weaving gods. ~ My 15 minutes lasted about thirteen minutes too long decades ago in the machine. For youngsters just now in the wings [and those of a certain age ready to re-enter the stream] when turbulence stirs the waters is the perfect time to ‘know thyself,’ the better to bring exactly what the world needs, which only you can offer, from a quiet focus, multi-tasking notwithstanding.

Thank you “L”. Appreciated the information. Learn something every day.

Thanks for sharing those lovely pictures. I can definitely see some similarities. Love you Queen Z.

Just read about Rachel Alexandra day. It is well organized and
Only 100 people will be able to see her: 20 per
5 45 minute sessions. It is a risk for her. Not sure how Stonestreet
If/will screen the people that come in or if they will have them
Wear a protective garment or something. Maybe nothing.
Perhaps Z will continue her charity work by providing
Visits for small group winners. As fans we need to respect
visitation policies. Lanes End is in charge of keeping the Queen
And her future foal safe. Times have changed for Z and those who
Have cherished daily visit memories/photos from Barn 55 are
Very fortunate. We all have received much more from Dottie, Z and her
Teams than a one day visit over the last few months. So let’s be
up beat and positive about everything we are getting almost daily.
Have fun this morning !!!!!

@Signof thetimes, I will be going to see Rachel on her day! They asked us to wear walking shoes and said we wouldn’t be able to feed her (but can leave treats for later), but nothing as far as precautions. I think that Lane’s End has to worry a lot more about visitors (human and equine) from other farms that might be carrying something dangerous. I suspect that most of us who will be visiting Rachel don’t spend a lot of time in horse barns. I admit I was kind of surprised about the visitation, though.

Good Morning Zetty,
every morning I come on here, I tell myself I won’t write athg this morn’, and then I read sthg and am compelled to do it anyway.
First off, hope this morn’ finds you doing aok, and your barn pals, too.
I can only imagine what it must be like to actually having seen you in real life, I know horses are show-stoppers anyway, but then to see a really great race horse in its best condition, all spiffied & slicked up, unforgettable :)
But you retired w great honors, and will hopefully bowing your noble head down to your beautiful little filly, man, I can just hardly wait, for the confirmation of maternity, wheeeeheeeeee. But as the English man from your barn said it is a rather sensitive time, for mother & foal, and that needs to take priority. It isn’t worth it, Zenyatta is also older than most to have her first foal.
Imagine being told of a miscarriage after a visit with her. January is gonna come, and there’ll be a sweet little filly there to boot. There’ll be a few foals there then :) :) :) I bet that’s a sweet time at the barn. Have a great day, eat your oats, and pears, ha ha, :) :) :)

It’s just wonderful that so many of your personal items are helping others. It is very generous of you, and your family connections, to take the time to donate these things in the spirit of giving. There are so many that are less fortunate and they will benefit from your generosity. I know you have a birthday coming up, and I will be donating money to Old Friends in your honor. May God Bless you and your family always. Be well dear Z.
P.S. Love the pictures. You were just born beautiful, and your sister too.

Hi Zenny:
You’ve come a long way, Baby! You have left some mighty big horseshoes to fill. Will be interesting to watch and follow Eblouissante’s career. Will help the withdrawal symptoms of your no longer racing and waiting for your first foal to arrive.
Hugs & nose kisses.

Great photos, and you can see that you had not yet fully developed into the horse you are today. I think I remember reading you were 16.1 or 16.2 hands when you were bought at auction. So your half sister may have some more growing to do also. Thanks to John for sharing these photos of you when you were a “baby”

@ Anna Wiley – it’s TWO months until the Derby (Sat. May 7th).

@LauraJ
How exciting to get to visit Rachel !!!
I guess you live in KY or close. With all of your information I would think at some time you had a horse. Or are you just very interested. I am surprised that they
are not requiring protection of some sort.
Oh Well !!! I guess LE was thinking some of the visitors may be on farm tours and go to many other farms in the area. I agree with your previous post and most recent about a LE had a bigger operation and more going on so more safety issues.
Have fun !!! I really wasn’t a fan of hers but love that broken blaze and she is also soooo very talented.
Sandra Frey
Zenyatta, you are awesome! So glad to hear of your charitable giving – that’s my field and it’s really important to be giving. Take care. More later…it’s dinner time, sweets!

@Ann Wiley
I don’t think E is precocious enough for Derby or Oaks (KY)
She would have to race as a two year to qualify I believe.
Great thought though. E is a very beautiful filly who will develop
Her own style like Z did.

You are so darn cute Zenny. Love you with lots of Love and Big Hugs.
