Good Morning,
Well, I am feeling fabulous this morning! After I came back from Darley yesterday, I relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the day in my regular routine with my friends. We had a great time ‘visiting’ and “just doing girl talk!” It was also a day when one reflects on one’s family. I have this great photo of Mario I wanted to share with YOU. When he came to visit me last time, Mario also spent some fun time visiting other farms. He really wanted to meet MY MOM, VERTIGINEUX. We were able to make this happen for him.
During his visit with Vertigineux, he spent a great deal of time just laughing and smiling! I guess it is because she is “MY MOM”! Mario commented that we have some very similar physical qualities. She is also a good-sized MARE with a PRETTY FACE and GREAT eyes! And look at those adorable EARS! I really believe all of my friends at BARN 55 would know them ANYWHERE! (I think my whole family has a ‘thing’ for fabulous EARS!) Very, very cute!
As for my personal ‘baby’ status, many of you asked several questions about what happens next. Well, with horses, the vets will scan me at approximately 16 days to see if “I look to be in foal”. This is considered to be the ‘early pregnancy scan’. If all looks to be in good order…they will rescan me about 12-14 days later. The primary goal of these early check-ups/scans is always to monitor the “IN FOAL STATUS.” The third pregnancy scan is done 42-45 days from the breeding date. This one is especially important. At this stage, it is really a good sign when all is A-OK with the pregnancy. So, I’ll update you as we go along…but the 42-45 day report is very, very important!
Like I said yesterday…HOOVES CROSSED.
All of my CA FRIENDS and BARN 55 are very excited! Dottie was teasing them….THINK “BLUE” or THINK “PINK.” The anticipation is so much fun! Also, I did want to tell you that I so appreciate ALL of the KIND WORDS, CONCERN, and THOUGHTS you shared with ME on my Web-site and Facebook Page. You are all such loving and caring friends! I hope the next year is a GREAT EXPERIENCE for all of us! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!
I will keep you posted!
With love,
HUGS TO ALL~

Girl congrats! Though Bernandini is not who i would have chosen my choice would have been Big Brown who has a better racing status that Bernandini and the only reson he got a DNF in the Belmont was due to stupid poor shoing. Otherwise he would have won the triple crown. The best horse of his year. But I have my fingers crossed to make sure you are confirmed girly. I already have names for them. If its a colt i have choosen (from my best gallop racer horse) Cash Runner or if its a filly (yes again from my best gallop racer horse) (well i have 3 names and my fingers are tightly crossed for a filly) if its black Midnight Lights, if its a dainty looking filly then Angel Wings and if its any other color or look it would be Time To Tango (yeah on gallop racer so far she’s undeafeated and fingers crossed she wins her 20th race but she would be smoke checked by you in real life). Well hope you have a filly and choose one of my names for her or my colt name.

You and your Mom are both beautiful ladies. Glad you are still relaxing with your gal pals. Thanks for keeping in touch. Love you Zenny.

@Sunny Boyd–love your poem!

I am a great fan of Man O War’s, after visiting Kentucky Horse Park. This was before I fell for Zenyatta. But,here I am always feeling that something ….just that something makes me think of him when I look at her. Then I decided to check out her pedigree a couple of months ago. Did not want to look silly by mentioning this….thought I would see someone mention it if it was true. I have raised Afghan Hounds, and know the lines…but, not horses. OK, as I looked back I noticed that Z’s mom, Vertigineux…had that same look, in her eye. I checked and way back in her pedigree, was Man O War. Then back in Street Cry’s pedigree, was Man O War, from his mom. Helen Street. So, do I assume that my hunch was right, She has them in her blood line.
Time to call out the pro’s here….thanks everyone.

Sorry, meaning has Man O War, in Zenyatta’s pedigree !! Thanks :)

Hi Zenny: Well 2 days down 14 more to go. Hope you had a great day.

This is so great to see your MOM (I thought it was YOU for a minute!) and that picture of Roberto gave me goosebumps because you bring him back to life! Check out Nashua if you get a chance – I saw a picture of him crossing the finish in big style just like our gorgeous girl!! I just know that you are going to be so important to the breed and the preservation of these fantastic Thoroughbred lines! I think it is just fascinating and whenever I watch the races I always like it when they show who the mom and dad are! We love you so much Zenyatta! Stay well stay warm!
NIK
@Sharon Call – yes, thank you so much for sharing the link to Man O’War’s funeral. I would love to have lived during that special time in thoroughbred history to have seen him race or to even have gotten a glimpse of him. He was undoubtedly the “King” and I don’t think any horse since has come close to what he achieved in both his racing and breeding career. So touching to see all the love that surrounded him at his funeral. Makes me appreciate even more that I was able to see some of Zenyatta’s races and to meet her in person. Long live the “Queen!”

Thinking blue……Bluedini
Thinking pink……Pinkatta

AGAIN!!!! Did you guys even read all of the things about
NOT argueing?????? ENSIGHN, luvhorses, How old are you? I’m guessing your around 14 or younger by the way you are acting. It would really be nice for the rest of us Z fans for you to go somewhere else to be like that. I am on this website right now because I want to learn more about Zenyatta and, Frankly, this really is unpleasant for me right know.
I am amazed as to how I am realizing how immature you are being at my young age, BELOW the teens!
-Hannah.
P.S Dottie, and who ever else runs the web site, I am sorry you are having to put up with this. :-)

Now, For the Z. :) Finally I have time to talkabout you ,Z! I am so happy for you! I can see from your Mothers picture; where you got your beauty from ;-)
I am so excited about little Z!!! What name have you decided on?
I look forward to the results!
Love you, Zenyatta!! (THiS-IS-UN-BE-LEIVABLE!!!!!)
Love~ Hannah.

Hannah,
Sorry this has been distracting for you. I’d like to think you’d have noted I’ve not started any fights here and have more than once asked for the conversations to be brought back on topic. There are a few posters who come only for the purpose of slander & starting fights & never actually join the conversations we have within the comments section. I’m sorry, but I don’t have any control over that. I’m doing *my* best to ignore the last slew of them.
Hannah Huling
Thank you. I really am just trying to help.
I hope that from now on, this website and posts will just revolve around the Zen.
thanks~

Dear, ENSIGHN,
I must confess that I have not read all of those posts and am sorry that I ahve been drawing conclusions about you.
LauraJ
@Sharon in Ohio, you are correct. Zenyatta is a descendant of Man O’War, albeit several generations back. He was a successful sire. Another tidbit–Zenyatta is a distant cousin to Secretariat. She is descended from both of his grandsires, Nasrullah and Princequillo.
A couple of months ago, poster “Abigail from Montreal” wrote a lovely article about Zenyatta’s forebears, which was published by Steve Haskin as a guest column. I’m sure she won’t mind if I provide a link. Read and enjoy.

@Sharon Call, wow thank you sooo much for posting that link regarding Man O War it is amazing. I even printed it to keep with my memories of Z and Secretariat. Such a presence he had, it has to have been passed down to the great ones, Z has it and so did Secretariat. They just seem know how great they really are. This is why I enjoy this site so much, people are willing to share all the things they find on the internet. Please you who seem to want to spoil everything by fighting, and you know who you are, stop reading and commenting on someone you don’t agree with. Dottie is going to stop this diary if you don’t quit arguing. I luv seeing anything to do with our big girl…. Z your mama is lovely and what a producer. Whoever says the stallions are more important than the mares is crazy. Luv and kisses on your nose

Some great observations about Z. She had two other
Riders before Steve. One she dumped and the other
One she ran into the inside fence a few times. She
Has a very gentle personality when humans are on the
Ground, but when on top “Yipeee let’s have some
Fun”. My thoroughbred was like that and he dumped
Me plenty of times. Still have not mastered staying on
With repeated strong bucks. Made it through 13 once. He
Took a turn to the left which unseated me. Others who
Rode him enjoyed the fun like Steve. I didn’t much
Just did a lot of praying with each buck.

PS:
That article by Abigail from Montreal really is a nice piece of read, I read it some time ago, it is very informative and in a personal style. Zetty’s bloodline is blue & red all over :)
Have good morn’ Zenyatta, and a great day.

Interesting!!! Last night looked at Darley video of Street
Cry. Have not been able to get to his champion videos as
He raced quite a bit overseas. He is a little more aggressive
And dominant when lead. Very big and not beautiful but extremely
Strong and talented. I guess he had the stretch drive talent
That he passed on to Zenyatta and a very big heart. I think
She gets her muscle size from him and height from Mom. She
Is definately a combination. He is 16.2. Hopefully will get to
The videos today. He is a Dubai World cup winner and has offspring
That can do it all sprint turf dirt and long. What an awesome Stallion.

Love the Ears too Zenny. Have a great Saturday and I hope you are feeling good I also hope it’s a beautiful day in Kentucky today. Love you

I am not sure what you are commenting about. There have
Been issues with Ensign since he appeared on this site. Please
Review posts. Caretaking is a female characteristic. Should
There be majority of men on this site the rescuing would stop
And he would be directly dealt with.
Let’s move on !!!! Have a great day Queen Z!!!! Keep that
Embryo warm in the oven!!!! XXXXOOOO

And clearly Signofthetimes is yet another instigator….surprise!
Perhaps you’d like to share exactly what it is that I’ve posted that’s so darn offensive? Please, go back & copy and paste them for everyone that’s new here. Dealt with? For WHAT exactly? Oh, that’s right….I’m protoplasm and a 4 foot tall common pervert barn hand among 100 other things that have been posted this week alone about me.
I have all this written about me, yet I’m the one needing to be dealt with? My my, this site gets more amusing every day.

ENSIGHN. Are you talking about me? If so, I didn’t mean to accuse you at all of anything.
