Good Morning,
Well, I am feeling fabulous this morning! After I came back from Darley yesterday, I relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the day in my regular routine with my friends. We had a great time ‘visiting’ and “just doing girl talk!” It was also a day when one reflects on one’s family. I have this great photo of Mario I wanted to share with YOU. When he came to visit me last time, Mario also spent some fun time visiting other farms. He really wanted to meet MY MOM, VERTIGINEUX. We were able to make this happen for him.
During his visit with Vertigineux, he spent a great deal of time just laughing and smiling! I guess it is because she is “MY MOM”! Mario commented that we have some very similar physical qualities. She is also a good-sized MARE with a PRETTY FACE and GREAT eyes! And look at those adorable EARS! I really believe all of my friends at BARN 55 would know them ANYWHERE! (I think my whole family has a ‘thing’ for fabulous EARS!) Very, very cute!
As for my personal ‘baby’ status, many of you asked several questions about what happens next. Well, with horses, the vets will scan me at approximately 16 days to see if “I look to be in foal”. This is considered to be the ‘early pregnancy scan’. If all looks to be in good order…they will rescan me about 12-14 days later. The primary goal of these early check-ups/scans is always to monitor the “IN FOAL STATUS.” The third pregnancy scan is done 42-45 days from the breeding date. This one is especially important. At this stage, it is really a good sign when all is A-OK with the pregnancy. So, I’ll update you as we go along…but the 42-45 day report is very, very important!
Like I said yesterday…HOOVES CROSSED.
All of my CA FRIENDS and BARN 55 are very excited! Dottie was teasing them….THINK “BLUE” or THINK “PINK.” The anticipation is so much fun! Also, I did want to tell you that I so appreciate ALL of the KIND WORDS, CONCERN, and THOUGHTS you shared with ME on my Web-site and Facebook Page. You are all such loving and caring friends! I hope the next year is a GREAT EXPERIENCE for all of us! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!
I will keep you posted!
With love,
HUGS TO ALL~

Dear Zenny – you are just as beautiful as your mom. She has a beautiful face just like you and you are right, what great ears. Do you have any pictures of your dad that you may be able to post. I am so excited about your upcoming foal. As for me, I think a girl would be wonderful. Moms and their daughters always have a close bond. Hooves crossed for sure. God Bless you and your foal beautiful girl.
Hugs and kisses. xoxoxo

I’m so happy for you, Z. You sound wonderful. I do have a question. You know Rachel came to Lane’s End Tuesday to meet Curlin. Is she going to stay at Lane’s End or did she go back to her farm?
Tatia Johnson
Good looks certainly do run in your family, Zenny. Definitely a family resemblance.
Keeping fingers, toes and hooves crossed for ya! Please give my thanks to Dottie for all the updates. Had to shout out a big “Wheeeee” yesterday when I heard the news ;-)
Randy
Wow… you look so much like your beautiful mom! I wonder if mares and foals would recognize each other years later after being separated. Anyone know? Just curious. I predict you’re going to have a little dark bay girl or boy… hope they have your dapples!

FAMILY IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR LIVES. YOUR MOM, VERIGINEUX, IS A FABULOUS LOOKING MARE. THEY SAY IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT A GIRL WILL LOOK LIKE WHEN SHE GROWS OLDER LOOK AT HER MOTHER. SO IT APPEARS YOU WILL CONTINUE TO BE QUITE THE LOOKER!
ISN’T JOHN GOING TO TRAIN YOUR STEPSISTER OUT OF VERIGINEUX AND BERNARDINI? WHEN WILL SHE ARRIVE AT BARN 55? IT WOULD BE SPECIAL IF SHE COULD BE ABLE TO BE IN YOUR OL’ STALL #85.

Like mother, like daughter! :)

What a beautiful mom, we can see where your beauty and sweetness came from. May you and your future baby be safe. Looking forward to this year as if your baby were one of our own. Can’t wait to have a baby shower.

Does that mean that when the 42-45 day scan comes clean and you are cleared as “officially” in foal, that Lane’s End may begin to open their doors to your fans? We are all waiting with baited breath to know what the policies will be to keep you and your baby-to-be safe, while at the same time, being able to come see one of the most beloved racemares of our time! Love you, Z!!
Janet
Your Mom is beautiful just like you Zenny and I know your foal will be beautiful too. Stay happy and healthy! As always, love you Miss Z.
Diane
I’m wondering if Vertigineux will also be bred this year? Or is she past her baby making days?
TanNa
and never stop saying “With love. Hugs to all,Z” And right back at you from all of us!
ECH
I hope you have a filly and that she looks just like you and your mom!
But a dark chestnut colt wouldn’t be bad either — just as long you both are healthy!

More than likey not, no visitors for the Queen Z, for a while…this is a critical time for her and the foal she may be with…she will be watched very closely and not exposed to any outsiders. LE & Team Z will be very careful with her as usual…Keeping Z and Baby is priority for all concerned now…

Hi Zenny!
I got goosebumps! You got your Mommy’s beauty! I don’t think you mentioned where she lives… does she live far from you? She is going to be so proud of you!!
The internet was buring up yesterday with the news of your “first date” with Bernie ;-) We had so much fun. You continue to entertain and inspire us!!
God bless you. Praying you are “with child/foal” ~ I’m going to hope for “pink” since it’s part of the Mosses silk colors :-)
