Good Morning,
Well, it has been a relaxed and happy time here at the farm! I love sharing snacks with my pals. Friendship and bonding with others is so important! We spend a great deal of time around the feeders…visiting and enjoying the grass hay that the farm sets out for us. As you can see, it is clear here…but the snow is due to fall soon. That is the reason the feeders are elevated…so we can supplement our diets while outside no matter what type of weather we are having.
Thank you for the kind words about the ZENYATTA LOUNGE. This is really helping so many women. The ladies have also planned a MOVIE night where they will get together on FRIDAY EVENING and watch movies. POPCORN FOR EVERYONE! Some discussion groups are also being organized so they can just “TALK ABOUT STUFF GOING ON IN THEIR LIVES.” This is so helpful. The Chaplain’s wife is going to start these get-togethers off…and then the topics will go from there. All of these activities are meant to be special for these Ladies. It sounds like we are off to a great start!
Maria asked about further donations for the LOUNGE. Please call Santa Anita…and they will give you the necessary information. You are all so thoughtful! Having this type of situation at other tracks would be a wonderful idea. I agree! Let’s hope this sets a good example for others to follow.
ZENYATTA FOR PRESIDENT!!!! Now, Suzen you are TOO CUTE! I am still blushing about this comment!
Baby pictures…Dottie is going through all of John’s files and will get some more for you. I guess this FAMILY HERITAGE and BABY PICTURE THING is really important to me now…with the anticipation of becoming a MOM!
As for my meeting Bernardini earlier this week…NO, that has not happened yet. I know they are ‘getting me ready’ for the big day…but we have not met yet! Dottie WILL LET YOU KNOW when it has happened. I PROMISE!
Oh, the snow is dusting the ground as I’m writing this.
Stay warm and enjoy your Tuesday!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

@Jenna,
Jenna its important to remember that Zenyatta is an exception to a rule. Most thoroughbred broodmares are very cloistered, once they retire you rarely hear anything about them unless they prove to be a strong producer. Think about it, when was the last time you heard anything about Rags to Riches, Ginger Punch, Azeri, Life is Sweet?
I suspect we’ll hear word if Rachel catches or not and after that we’ll hear only if she slips the foal or has a healthy foal on the ground this time next year.

Wish I were there – we just got dumped on again with 8+ in. of snow and more coming. You are a lucky lady. Kentucky is such a beautiful state. Enjoy your munchies.

ZENYATTA WE ARE SO GLAD TO SEE PICS OF YOU AND THE GIRLS. WHEN OUR HORSES EAT HAY TOGETHER OUTSIDE, IT LOOKS LIKE PEOPLE GATHERING TOGETHER FOR LUNCH OR DINNER. EVERYONE ENJOYS THE OUTDOORS. IT IS ALWAYS GOOD TO CHECK OUT WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR WORLD. HERES A THOUGHT, MAYBE YOUR FANS CAN GET TOGETHER, WHERE WE LIVE CLOSE TO EACHOTHER, OR A SMALL DRIVE. WE COULD TALK ABOUT YOU AND TEAM ZENYATTA AND HAVE A PICNIC OR SNACKS TOGETHER…. LOVE TO ALL, SHERRY D.
Mary
Zenyatta, please thank Dottie for the cute comments you have expressed to her to pass on to us.
Zenyatta, what are your favorite places, for us to donate to retirement horse farms in your name? I think Old Friends, is one. I do believe you have a birthday coming up which would be a perfect time for your loving fans to help with this great need, in your name. Hugs and Prayers

zENNY, we would love to see your baby pictures; that is something we haven’t seen. how lucky you are to have raised feeders; I don’t see this here anywhere.
You are still my heroine forever. love you marcia

Hi Z, I was reading that Rachel and Curlin will be also having a baby. The 2 of you never had the race many people wanted to see. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if your babies end up racing each other in the future? Let’s see it will be baby Zybie v Curlandar at the Breeders Cup Juvenile. I do have a question about baby Zybie. What year will it be when Zybie will start racing if she starts as a 2 year old? I am thinking 2013 but those horse birthdays all on January 1st I am not sure? I am sure if we get to see a race like that happen Zybie will win easy. love ya

Hi Zenny: Will you and your gal friends stay together thru your pregnancy and then having your foals? Also, when is Mario coming to visit again? Love your pic with the other gals having lunch–what a life!!!! Take care, Janet C

@ Sue
A foal dropped in 2012 would be a yearling Jan 1 of 2013 and a 2 year old on Jan 1 2014. So assuming both Zenyatta and Rachel had healthy pregnancies, the soonest their youngsters would run would be 2014

Is Pirate queen eating in that group too; haven’t seen her lately. what is the name of the chestnut horse?

Hello Beautiful!
If horse years are like dog years, you’re old enough to be president! And you you what they used to always say – the taller candidate wins! (really, that’s true.) Who could any party find taller than you? =-)
But silliness aside, did you see where Giant Moon was put down yesterday with laminitis? If I’m not mistaken, that’s what happened with Secretariat, too. And Barbaro – I still can’t talk about Barbaro, even now. Do any of your connections know if any progress is being made in treating laminitis? If it could happen to Secretariat on the farm, it could happen to Zenny, too. I couldn’t face that happening to Zenny. Do you know where the best place to donate is? Is it still new Bolton Center? Thanks for any info.

There is nothing like a good gab session with the girls!!! I bet you are talking about the boys … heheeee

@Marcia,
Pirate Girl is the gray standing right in the center of the picture with her ass to the camera. The chestnut is Sea Gull. And the dark bay with the four white socks (you can’t see her in the picture) is Alyce.

My Queen Z,
Boy do you look GOOD eating with your gal pal around enjoying your time relaxing.
I am so looking forward to your baby

get together!
Lots of XOXOXOXO always.

Another such cute picture of you & your friends Z. I knew the moment I looked at it who was you!! My hubby wants some tattoo in regards to the Packers. Hey they are number one in my book. But I told my grandson, if I should ever get a small tattoo it may only be a pink Z for Zenyatta!! They all know about you!! They love you. He got a big smile on his face.
love you, n a kiss on your soft nose.

Blessed Beautiful Zenyatta, you and the girls look so precious having lunch together. I would love to join you. Wish I could. And I agree, it would be a better place in the world if you were President! To have a Zen Master in the White House would be the answer for peace in the world. You are the best. Keep enjoying whatever you do and I can’t wait until you are a mom. I love you.

Dear Zenyatta, Just love the updates on you and your friends. I’ve allways loved TB’s with the long history. Your friends are all so pretty and seem to be allmost as sweet, not as big or as personable but must have some merit to be in the field with you.
Best & Hugs!!

Zenyatta, I am glad that they prepare you for all kinds of weather at your Kentucky home. The Zenyatta lounge will get better and better. I would love to see baby pictures of you-the more the better. I could look at them all day. Anticipation must really be building up for your meeting with Bernardini. I think alot about you every single day. I am obsessed with you and I can never get enough.

Lunch looks like fun with your friends. Rachel was at the farm to meet her baby-Daddy Curlin – I would imagine that was over in the stallion barn. Thanks to you and Dottie for keeping us involved in your life and John for the great photos.
Love them.
Hopefully spring is on its way.

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful photo of a heartwarming scene! It is always wonderful to get together with friends and share a meal. I am blessed to have two special friends that I meet with once every month to have breakfast together and it is a special time for all of us. Special friends can feed your soul so I am so pleased that you are bonding with the three other mares in your pasture and I hope all of you will be able to stay together throughout your pregnancies, but I have no idea how that all works. Abigail, thank you for pointing out the notes on Pirate Queen at Pedigree Query – that is so cool! Of course, just being in a pasture with our Queen makes the other mares famous also. Beautiful…or as Zenyatta and Dottie might say – Too Cute!!

Z, for Prez !! Have got to say it has been so much fun reading all of the comments this evening. Seems Zenny, you are going to Win….YOU are the people’s choice ! Remember, you have a trophy to prove it ! Guess we would have to take turns rocking little Z.B. Jr. while you are running the Oval Office. I am sure everyone would be more than glad to help. xxoxxxoxo

Dearest, Zenyatta. I have had a very happy day also, Zenny. And you are so right, friendship and bonding with others is very important. The positive energy and prayers of my wonderful diary friends have helped so much the past couple of weeks. I have known for some time that I had a benign liver tumor, but 6 months ago a scan indicated it had grown to the size of a baseball and was causing some problems. The danger was in it growing further or becoming cancerous. Surgery if necessary would have been very serious, so you can imagine my relief when hearing those beautiful words today, still benign with little growth!!!!!! I will still have to have additional scans every six months, but I am certainly doing a Zenyatta dance for JOY!!! I cannot thank everyone enough for reaching out to me with such wonderful support. Know that you truly touched my heart and made a difference in my life. Love to you all! Thank you Dottie for creating such a special place for us all to share. Glad you are enjoying lunching with your gal pals, Zenny. It is always so great to see you happy and healthy. Sweet dreams. Many hugs and kisses! XXXOOO

Can’t wait till all the snow is gone and the green grass grows back! You’ll love that too, won’t you? :)

Am I the only one of your devoted fans who cares more for you than for the foal? I love the idea of a baby Zenyatta, but I hope you can still enjoy the peace and happiness you have now for many many years and not be bred every year. I know how high the stakes are and the money issue, but I want you to be safe and enjoy your well-earned retirement. You have already given so very much to the world and all of us who adore you.

Nice to see you picknicking outside there with your galpals. And it looks like you all have a nice little dining table all dressed out with the feast.
I bet you are looking forward to your date with Bernardini soon. Just be sure sweetie, that he knows whos the boss-lady power!!
Love & Blessings to you Zenyatta

I love hearing from you every day, Zenny. I sure do miss you! We can’t wait to watch you become a mother!
I agree with Cyndi Higgins– John should publish a book of all his best/favorite pictures of you! :D
Jamie
Oh Zenny! I am so glad you are happy…. but we are all going to miss you terribly on the racetrack. Your photos are priceless and I am glad you are enjoying yourself with your new girlfriends. Have a happy day. Love and hugs.
Anne
Now that is what I need to keep me out of the feed tub. A nice high rack that I can’t reach. HA… Glad you can reach it though.
When my dog,Lilly, was pregnant,I had to give her raspberry tea leaves. It was to help her through her pregnancy. Will you be doing the same? She had 4 healthy Beagle puppies. Not that you will have Beagle puppies but I was just wondering if you will have to do something like this.
