Good Morning,
Well, it has been a relaxed and happy time here at the farm! I love sharing snacks with my pals. Friendship and bonding with others is so important! We spend a great deal of time around the feeders…visiting and enjoying the grass hay that the farm sets out for us. As you can see, it is clear here…but the snow is due to fall soon. That is the reason the feeders are elevated…so we can supplement our diets while outside no matter what type of weather we are having.
Thank you for the kind words about the ZENYATTA LOUNGE. This is really helping so many women. The ladies have also planned a MOVIE night where they will get together on FRIDAY EVENING and watch movies. POPCORN FOR EVERYONE! Some discussion groups are also being organized so they can just “TALK ABOUT STUFF GOING ON IN THEIR LIVES.” This is so helpful. The Chaplain’s wife is going to start these get-togethers off…and then the topics will go from there. All of these activities are meant to be special for these Ladies. It sounds like we are off to a great start!
Maria asked about further donations for the LOUNGE. Please call Santa Anita…and they will give you the necessary information. You are all so thoughtful! Having this type of situation at other tracks would be a wonderful idea. I agree! Let’s hope this sets a good example for others to follow.
ZENYATTA FOR PRESIDENT!!!! Now, Suzen you are TOO CUTE! I am still blushing about this comment!
Baby pictures…Dottie is going through all of John’s files and will get some more for you. I guess this FAMILY HERITAGE and BABY PICTURE THING is really important to me now…with the anticipation of becoming a MOM!
As for my meeting Bernardini earlier this week…NO, that has not happened yet. I know they are ‘getting me ready’ for the big day…but we have not met yet! Dottie WILL LET YOU KNOW when it has happened. I PROMISE!
Oh, the snow is dusting the ground as I’m writing this.
Stay warm and enjoy your Tuesday!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

Hi Zenny – I love the photo of you and the girls! The only thing that could be better is having a horse of my own which will never happen. I look forward to the photos and posts every day. They give me and many others a much needed smile. Love you Z!
Fran
Z, you are just too cute! I love that you have so many friends in your paddock. It makes for such nice lazy days. The sun is shinning here today but more rain later in the week. There will soon be a royal wedding (really in England!). Our royal wedding is you and Mr. B! Have a fun rest of the day Z! xxoo

Bet there will be a press release once you’ve visited Darley … hehe (just like Rachel A. visited Lane’s End & it was big news). So … how do they time the visit? Will you be ultra-sounded to determine if the follicle is ready? I seem to recall that a mare’s cycle is 3-4 days about every 3 weeks, and that the follicle is only ready for about a 24 hour period, so getting the timing right is crucial. My friend had a mare who was AI’d twice one year and the vet didn’t get it right, so the mare didn’t conceive that year. Good luck to all of you!

just wondering whether mosses prefer a colt or filly for your first foal.

Hi Zenyatta,
Every diary entry is a bright spot in the day. It’s so much fun to see you and the girls enjoying the outdoors whether it’s snacking, sunning, running free or playing in the snow. Thank Sarah for the great picture. Love and hugs, SuzanneG
Darlene
Zenyatta, please tell Dottie that we love this diary. It has helped us all with our ZWS…. “Zenyatta Withdrawal Syndrome”.I love the mare photos….you have earned the life of leisure. Keep us posted on the “date”.
Vicki B.
Love the pic of you gals chowing down. I’m glad you four got to park in the sun awhile like sphinxes the other day, with more snow coming now!
Lilli
Hey girl!! I’m not feeling so good today, but seeing your post really cheered me up as it always does! You look so happy having a “ladies lunch”, and you always stand out in a crowd… you tower over everyone! Have a good time meeting Bernardini, I bet he’s very sweet :) And baby pictures would be wonderful, any pictures at all! Whenever I’m sad, I just look at a picture of you winning a race, flying past the finish line with your ears up, and it gives me inspiration to keep moving forward. I love you with all my heart. Stay safe and warm, there’s snow here too!

How I love these feeders! The horses would circle them, thinking ‘the grass looked greener on the other side,’ just like the story of tracking the ‘Heffalump,’ in ‘Winnie-ther-Pooh.’ Then they`d get back to ‘their’ starting place & look a little non-plussed. ~ Don`t think “Z & ‘The Girls’ will play carousel; too lady-like.

Not so sure that it’s absolutely necessary for us to know the exact date/time, etc. that Z is bred. I would rather wait and read an announcement that she is actually in foal. Hopefully the first breeding will take but it’s not guaranteed, especially when it involves a maiden mare. Best to you Z and your entire Team…

I love all photographs of you but the ones of you at Lanes End make me sooooo happy. And, I am sure they make your people very happy too. It is great to see you living the life of a horse. Sure you are special and Lanes End caters to special horses but you are living the life that is the best for horses. You sure picked the right owners!
Margaret
Hay Z you should go back to the early diary pages–I was one of the first to say that you should run for Pres.
And that would be great if you did. No more BLM, no more roundups. No more of the icky people who hurt horses “for a living”. And please don’t forget to turn all the horses in long term holding back out in the wild.
You’d have my vote before those long pretty eyelashes of yours could blink. Or a hug.

Hi Zen,
I love the girl’s lunch break. You look so happy doing your thing. Don’t let anyone push you into baby time. Let nature take it’s course. You will be a great mom when you are ready. I know you are enjoying your horse alone time.
Trisha Veazey
You are so loved girl.
Love , hugs and kisses

I agree with Nancy above….wow what great owners you have Z….they love and respect their horses….and we know for sure they love you Z. You are very special…not another one out there like you…like how many horses can dance. :) It warms my heart to see you so happy in KY and with your friends. You are also blessed to have Dottie in your life. Hugs to you Z from Virginia.
Susan
Did you see Rachael while she visited the farm? Come to think about it, that’s probably the closest you have ever come to visiting with her personally. Maybe you had time to exchange pictures of your dudes. IMO, Bernardini is more handsome but we all have different tastes.
Have a great day Z

I love this photo! It’s neat to see that munching is as social for the posse as it is for any extended family.
I would like to know how long it takes after a “mate-date” before Zenny will know she’s conceived?
Also: What are John, Mario, Carmen & Steve up to these days? Which horses are under Mario’s care? (Not that anyone can replace you, Zenny!)
The Kennedys in San Diego
Thank you, Sarah, for the lovely photo of the “girls.” Nice to know LEF makes it easier to feed, particularly when snow covers the paddock.
Well, Zenyatta, you may be a California Girl, but you soon will be a Kentucky Woman. We can visualize your dancing to Neil Diamond’s classic.

looks like you are enjoing yourself….i love you girl!
Diana
What a wonderful picture and a wonderful place to retire and become a Mom! Happy munching girls! Love and kisses.
Linda
Will Rachel Alexander be there at the same time or will they take her back to the other farm?? Interesting if both of you are there at the same time.
Adele Williams
Zenyatta you don’t know how happy your daily diary helps us through our sad day’s. I look forward to hear about what is going on in your life & all of your family & friends. Stay warm & be happy.
We love you

So glad to hear to Ladies Lounge is going so well. I’ve already starting putting together a package and will call SA and see if they need something else. Stay warm…winter is still hangin’ on!

Hey Zenny…did you know that in the pedigree notes for Pirate Queen’s & Alys (that’s how it’s spelled on the Thoroughbred Pedigree Query site) have noted that they’re both “paddock pals of the great champion, Zenyatta”? As you would say: TOO CUTE!
Lisa g
Ms Zenyatta, That pic is just too sweeet. As for other race tracks to follow “Zenyatta Lounge”, it will happen, as I mentioned to you before…you and your team are changing the world (and the race track world) one hoove at a time. I love you. Lisa g.

Abigail — I think it will be about 3 weeks after breeding to know if the breeding took — mares cycle about every 3 weeks. In an earlier post it stated that Zenyatta has been “teased” by a stallion. From her actions and reactions they will have a better of idea when she is ready to be bred.

Hi Zenny!
When I read your comment:…”I love sharing snacks with my pals…” I thought it would read sharing “stories” LOL
Seeing you with your girlfriends warms my heart!!
I can’t wait to see baby pics of YOU!
HUGS & KISS XOXO
