Good Morning,
The weather has been absolutely GREAT in Kentucky for the last few days. It actually reached the 70′s. WOW…a bit of California in the Bluegrass State!
Here I am enjoying the sunshine with by Paddock Friends. From left to right, they are Sea Gull, P.Q., Alyss and ME! YIPPEE, we are all just relaxing, looking fabulous, EARS FORWARD, and SO HAPPY!
Cooper, who is the yearling manager at Lane’s End, was driving by our paddock when he looked over and saw us in the field enjoying the sunshine! He could not resist jumping out of his truck and taking this photo. I think we all look terrific! So glad he was able to capture this moment…for YOU!
We had a fabulous afternoon! I was thinking back…and this is the warmest it has been since I arrived in Kentucky. It brought back memories. I have not lounged around in a paddock and laid in the sun like this since I was a yearling. I’ve spent a great deal of time ‘sunning’ in California. As many of you may know, John always had me graze and spend a couple of hours each day outdoors with my dear friend, Mario! But to be totally free like this in a large paddock…I have not done this for years!
Hope you have a wonderful day with some of your friends. Enjoy yourself, relax, and most importantly remember to HAVE SOME FUN!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

A most profound photo. You were truly ready for retirement, and are enjoying it to the fullest. I wish all ex-racehorses could be as lucky as you. It would make for a better world. Thanks for helping to make our world a better place.

You are so beautiful hanging out with your friends I miss you racing but am so thankful you are happy. I hope you and your friends all have healthy foals that will be well cared for all their lives.
Love you Z hope to see you one day.

I was under the impression that “we”, the people, would be able to come to KY and see “our”, the people’s, horse (that would be Zenyatta). Last month when I called Lane’s End I was told “they’re working on a visitation schedule”. Last Thursday I was told “ain’t gonna happen”. So, what is the scoop on this since I am sure thousands of “us” are anxious to hear the truth of the matter. I do know I was not able to see Winning Colors, Personal Ensign or Genuine Risk although I tried. A man in an earlier comment on this site said he did not see it happening. Was he right?

Thanks Cooper! This is a great picture and I am so happy for Z!!!!!!!! What a life!

From #88 (at the very end of comments, hence repeated here to accompany the picture).
Zenyatta sweet horse: How lovely to see you off your feet–down on the ground, not up in the air! Together with your three friends. At last I believe that you have bonded with your own kind. A herd–the four of you. No cougar will catch you unawares as you give those active legs a rest and take in the sun.

Hi Queen Z
Did you see Rachel when she came over to Lane’s End today? She had a date with Curlin this AM at 0900!!
Sandy
What a great picture, and (as they say) worth 1000 words. I’ve asked several times in the past if you ever lie down (to sleep or just relax) and now I can see the answer for myself! Others have noted that you must all feel very safe which does my heart good. Glad you were able to enjoy the sunshine because I think by now, you’ve had some of the same terrible weather that we got AGAIN in Ohio. Will spring every come? Take care Zenny. Love from your Ohio friend Sandy.
ENSIGN
Rachel Alexandra was bred to Curlin this morning. Can’t imagine Zenyatta will be too far behind now.

Thank you, ENSIGN, for staying on top of the breeding scene. And best wishes for a beautiful, healthy Curlin/Rachel foal.
It appears from the Lane’s End press release Zenyatta will follow within the week.

Exciting things happening. A Curlin/Rachel foal and a Zenyatta/Berni foal almost the same time!! Wow Horses of the Years having babies!! What a year 2012 will be for royal babies!!!
Can’t wait!! Hope they are both healthy! They both will be born with silver spoons or bits or something in their mouths. Hope they both love to run. You and Rachel didn’t meet on the track, maybe your kids will!!!
You and Bernie will be proud parents and Rachel and Curlin proud parents. And the fans ecstatic!!!I’m already excited!!!
Oh, got my Zenyatta hat and shirt, my blanket and waiting for your picture autographed by Mike. Next time you Tango with Mike ask him to hurry up and sign mine, my Zenyatta room is shaping up but needs your picture!!
Love and nose kisses, stay healthy and warm. Joyce.

Hi Zenny: Hope the sun is shinning on you again today.
@Ensign: Thanks for letting us know about Rachel Alexandra. According to the article she visited Curlin at Lanes End. Do you think she will she remain at Lanes End?

I saw this photo a few days ago and just loved it. If you were all human you would think this was staged :) All you need is swim suites and to say look out SI swimsuite issue cover LOL!!!! Look forward to your breeding coming Miss Thing, and I hope your BBF’s will have healthy babies as well as I’m sure they will be breeding soon as well. Hard to think your going to be a mommy wow :) I also second it about Curlin/Rachel foal two of the most wonderful HOTY’s and mares to have ever raced. Have a good day Z and as always you are so loved.
Dani
Such glorious news about Rachel and Curlin. And isn’t it exciting that they said Zenyatta could be bred within the next week? Super foals born at the same time. I wish sweet, dear Rachel happiness and great health during the next 11 months and after the birth of her foal. She’s such a wonderful horse.
Dani
@Ensign – once it is confirmed that Zenyatta is in foal (is that the proper terminology?) will she still share the same paddock with P.Q., Sea Gull and Alyss, even if they are not bred?

I can only dream of sitting in the paddock with you Zenyatta and your friends, that would be oh so relaxing. Spring is such a wonderful time of year. Good luck Zenyatta on your date with Bernadini. I’m sure Rachel is very happy and filled with exhuberant anticipation. I can only say how thankful I am that God has created two beautiful fillies, Zenyatta and Rachel, in my lifetime. They both are gifts from Heaven above. With all my love to both Zenyatta and Rachel.

Wonder if there was even a chance a truely historic photo might have been taken with RA and Z in the same frame? Even if they just walked RA past Z’s paddock? Glad RA and Curlin had a routine first visit and wish RA a healthy pregnancy and foaling. I like all the four horses involved in this star-crossing (in a good way) moment in TB history. 2015 will be a most interesting racing year. Thank you Team Z for your continued updates. What an incredible photo!! Thanks to Cooper for his quick thinking and photography skills!! I treasure a photo taken of me with my TB jumper when he was lying down and let me walk up to him, staying down for about another 5 minutes after I was next to him petting him. It was a magical moment–I kept expecting him to leap up and take off. He was a beautiful chestnut named Regarro–he looked like Elizabeth Taylor’s horse in National Velvet! He’s been gone for over ten years but I still miss him.
