Happy Saturday!
Wow! David just returned from a one day business trip to CA (also saw Dottie and John for a fun visit) and said it was 80 degrees there. This weather thing never ceases to amaze me! It is a bit chilly here still in Lexington…but I feel I’ve acclimated beautifully!
I wanted to show the Secretariat image that they gave Dottie as a gift as well. Here John has me ‘jogging playfully’ right beside BIG RED! What a thrill!
John also took a photo of us…side by side. He put HIM a bit in front…just so you could see both of us. Both Dottie and John felt that they did a wonderful job with our images…and this is truly a special gift they were given. A great way to remember the EVENT!
All else is going very well for me! I have put on a few pounds, I’m getting so many sweet notes and cards from all of you, and I am enjoying my time with my friends. Yesterday, Don Robinson (the man who foaled me and raised me at his farm until I went to the Yearling Sale) and his family came to visit me again. He called Dottie and told her HOW FABULOUS I LOOK! Don’s comment to her was…”ZENYATTA IS JUST SO HAPPY. SHE LOOKS AMAZING….AND YOU CAN SEE SHE IS ONE VERY HAPPY HORSE ENJOYING HER NEW LIFESTYLE!”
In truth, I REALLY AM! David was telling Dottie that there are times when he and Michael Cline (from our farm) watch me when I’m playing in my paddock…and they literally see me “JUMP FOR JOY”. I REALLY DO! I literally JUMP UP IN THE AIR WITH ALL 4 OF MY FEET and PLAYFULLY LOOK AROUND!
I have so much fun when I do this! Dottie thought hearing this was so adorable. She told David…she could truly capture this image in her mind. Ironically, my dear friend, SOPHIE SHIRREFFS does this same type of thing. Dottie and John tease about it all of the time!
So cute! I guess Sophie and I really do have LOTS in common! We are 2 very blessed and fortunate ’4 Legged Friends’!
Smile…have a wonderful Saturday…and TAKE CARE! I hope you can encounter something fun today which encourages you to JUMP FOR JOY!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Hi, Z-girl,
Happy Saturday to you, too. Your old stable mate, Zardana and that pesky St. Trinians who gave you a run for the money last June are running today at Santa Anita in the Santa Maria stakes. Of course, I’m pulling for your old stablemate Zardana! Hope she wins it going away!
I am always glad to hear from other quarters that you are thriving in your new retirement role and that you seem to be extremely happy! You are a lucky girl, indeed, with your family and your paddock buddies. I know Don Robinson was very glad to see you! He always says such wonderful things about you, how special you are, how exceptional. Like everyone who ever came in contact with you, they can’t sing your praises enough. Happy weekend! Hugs. Your friend, Ann Maree

The images are great! Jumping for Joy! It’s going to be 80 here in Cali again today, but I would rather be there with you.
When is the “Big Date” Zenyatta?

I love these posts! Dottie, as the voice of Zenyatta you never fail to delight and inspire. The thought of Z jumping for joy, enjoying being a horse makes me smile from ear to ear. I can’t thank you enough for these adorable, inspiring, informative daily diary posts!

Zenny…I must admit I was one of those who was a bit afraid you would have trouble adapting to your new life. Silly me, I should have known better. You always have taken the right approach to everything in life so this new chapter has not been any different. You surely earned the right to “jump for joy” after your amazing racing career ended. How blessed you are to have retired safe ad sound…and able to enjoy the life of leisure in Kentucky. Those angels John always had on your bridle did their job. May you continue to be a very happy and healthy horse for MANY years to come.
Debbie
It makes me happy that you’re happy!!! love you Z xoxoxo oh, you and Red look great together:-)

Dearest Zenyatta,
After all your hard work and dedication you deserve to have lots of fun now. It’s so wonderful to hear how you’re enjoying your new home and new friends. Spring will be coming soon and then you’ll get to graze on that beautiful Kentucky grass. It’ll have you kicking up your heels even more! :)
Have a joyous day, dear Z!
With lots of hugs and love to you,

My Sweet Lady Zenyatta, Happy Saturday to you! I love, love ,love your photos! The Statues look spectacular together. @ Flora That’s what I have always said if you & Scretariat could had a baby. He or she would be a Superhorse. Hugh Heart, Mighty Strength, Unbelievably Beautful. I don’t think we humans could actually handle what You & Secratariat would have produced. The excitement your Fan Family has over you & Secretariat’s Fan Family has had over him I think the world would not be ready for that. It’s wonderful to think of anyway. I think You & Bernadini will produce a Fabulously Beautiful with Strength & a Heart of Triple Crown Horse. I am so thrilled you are so Happy! I can see you kicking, running & jumping. You are a magnificent site to behold! When people tell what they see you can hear the excitement & happiness in their words! I love you, Zenyatta, so much! Happy Valentine’s Day! Sending Hugs & Kisses From Alabama With love, Amanda G.

Wonderful photos yet again. It was also touching to learn that Don Robinson and family came to visit you. I remember seeing him on television on the night that you won the Horse of the Year award. That was a thrilling event. I am very happy that you won. Love you and so proud of you, beautiful Queen.
Debbie
Hi Darling Z, I never get tired of reading about you. I miss U but am so happy that U are so very happy. I am very excited about getting my own pin :-) You are such a happy girl… just wait until spring!! Then you will really be jumping for joy in the warm spring air! Kisses from Los Angeles.

Vicki
Amazing and Wonderful Zenyatta, Thank you so much for your daily posts. I can’t wait each day to read about you and what you’re doing. I would love to see more pictures and video of you.
Janie
@ Flora: Bernardini is Secretariat’s great-grandson, so Zenyatta will carry a great-great grandchild of Secretariat’s. (Bernardini’s father’s mother’s father was Secretariat.) So there’ll be that connection at least! Thank you, Zenyatta, for such an uplifting post today. You are a joy to behold, happy girl!

Always si wonderful to hear how happy you are ! You gave us so much joy…,it’s your time big girl! xoxo

Zenyatta lovely one: My favorite part of your description of how you “JUMP UP IN THE AIR WITH ALL 4 OF MY FEET and PLAYFULLY LOOK AROUND!” is the last part–“playfully look around.” You are such a social horse!
It makes me feel free to hear of your freedom. Kathryn mentioned yesterday how “Equine descendants of the beautiful Egyptian Arabian horse” deserve to be celebrated along with the celebration of the Egyptian people. She added, and this relates to your off-all-four-feet jumps, “freedom in the people, freedom in the horse: who can say which comes first?”

I love that you are so happy Zenyatta! It makes us fans happy knowing that you are so happy and doing well. I would love to buy those statues of you and Secretariat. They are beautiful. Any chance those might be for sale????

I am so happy you are doing so well I would like to thank you for giving me so much joy.I never thought I would feel this way about a horse I really love you and so happy for you.

Zenyatta, once again, that is a very beautiful trophy of you and Secretariat. I’m glad that the guy who has known you since you were a foal and his family have paid you a visit. He can see that you have a very good life at Lane’s End Farm. You must be really excited if you jump in the air with all 4 of your legs. When the weather warms up and the possibility exists of you staying outside longer, you might wind up losing weight instead of gaining it. I am looking forward to hearing about your first date with Bernardini.

Hi Zenyatta,
Wonderful pictures! You and Secretariat look terrific together! My tb mare didn’t do very well on the track but she loved to do the 4-feet off the ground jump that you describe. Lots of fun for her and great fun to watch. I’m guessing if she would have liked her ‘team’ better she would have run better. Sometimes girls can be a little on the persnickety side requiring more flexibility in their ‘teams’. If that happens, as in your case, nothing shines brighter. Enjoy your day and thanks to your spectacular team for all they do and all they share. Love and hugs, SuzanneG

Zennie — it means so much that you are that happy!

Dearest, Zenny. What a gorgeous sunny day it is. Really enjoyed seeing the mini statues of you and Secretariat, and just look at those dance steps you both have going on. Thinking about your playful exploits really brings a smile to my face. When I was growing up, I used to go down to our pasture and whistle for my mare, Cinder (she was a dark bay and I loved the Cinderella story). There was never a hesitation, she would come running, stop on a dime in front of me and wait for her hug. It was our game. I am so glad that you are loving Kentucky. I love it too, it is very beautiful and I can just picture you there running across your paddock. I am looking at July for my next trip east and I will certainly be “jumping for joy” if seeing you becomes a reality for me. As George Strait sings about life, “it’s not the breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away.” Thank you for continuing to share those special moments with us, Zenny. How wonderful that you continue to receive visitors like, Mike, David and Don with his family. I am sure Team Z loves receiving updates as often as possible. I agree, you and Sophie are very blessed to be loved so much by Dottie and John. We know we are lucky to be part of their world also, they are wonderful. Here’s to a successful and safe racing day for everyone. I’ll be watching. Best of luck!! You and the girls have lots of fun, Zenny!!! Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
