Happy Wednesday to all!
We had so much fun yesterday at our photo shoot. Ann wanted some great photos of me….of all my different angles etc…as she is hoping to paint me one day. She is a terrific artist…and that would be so much fun and quite an honor!
Barbara Livingston has come out to CA and is spending a couple days at the barn with me. Ann also thought it would be FUN if my ‘extended 4 legged Moss/Shirreffs family’ came to see me for a couple ‘family’ photos.
I know Sophie Shirreffs very well. Dottie and John have her come out and visit me all of the time. As a matter of fact, she helped with my photo shoot for W MAGAZINE. I have not met Violet Rose or Stella Rose Moss before this. They are sisters who just turned one year old about a month ago. Violet Rose…always wears purplish tones…and Stella pink. We had so much fun together. We did some FAMILY PHOTOS.
I do not have the ones taken professionally yet (I’ll share some of those when we get them)…but for now, I’m able to share a few of the candid ones John took with you.
My 4 legged family members are too cute! We had a great afternoon visiting…cuddling…and just being family and friends.
As I have said so many times before, I am one LUCKY GIRL!
Hugs to all~
With love,
Z

Zenny, God bless you in this new life that you are about to enter. I will certainly miss seeing you run like the
wind. I knew you were retiring & read it on Bloodhorse today. You have been blessed with a wonderful family & all those who have cared for you. I want to thank Jerry & Ann Moss, John & Dottie Sheriffs, & Team Zenyatta for sharing & caring for you. I will forever cherish that I was able to experience your beingin my lifetime. Maybe I can see you at Lane’s End. There will never be another horse like you. Thank you so very much. Please keep your diary. Love you beautiful girl.

Zenyatta, I am going to miss you so. Looking forward to your races was a big part of my weekend for the past 3 years. Watching you develop in the gorgeous charismatic queen that you are have been a joy….You are so loved by your family, by your fans, etc. We will all miss your races. Be careful at Lane’s End in the fields when not flirting with those boys; don’t let them get away with anything. You’re the queen, remember that. Enjoy Life Is Sweet; she will be in the field with you…Thank you so much for ALL that you have given us; we can never pay you back other than with our love…..

Zenny, I am so happy you are retiring healthy but I am hurting at the same time because you will be moving to KY. I was hoping you would stay in CA one more month because I had plans to visit you (if permitted) in December. I hope and pray that they take care of you in your new place in much the same way that they have taken good care of you in HP. Please continue to keep us posted.

I knew retirement would happen eventually but I was really hoping that you would maybe start a breeding renaissance and stay in California. You have done so much for California racing, it’s a shame you will not have the opportunity to do the same in the foaling shed. I actually worry more about you without your family than anything else because it will be impossible to replace the love, affection, admiration and devotion that all of them have given you. Their touch is unlike any other. And I worry about them without you because your touch is unlike any other. I will try not to be bitter towards Kentucky, but the thought of never seeing you again is mighty tuff to swallow right now. My very best wishes to you and your family.

My Sweet Lady Z! I read about you retiring and moving to Kentucky. I know it will be so different and will take some getting use to. I wish they would keep you at home in Calf and bring the studs to you. You are the Queen of racing and I hope and pray the HOTY! I wish Mr. & Mrs. Moss would keep you. Please don’t stop writing to your fans. I enjoy so much hearing about your days. I hope your fans can visit you in Kentucky. I would love to meet you in person. I believe you would really miss all the attention you have always recieved. Zenyatta you deserve to be treated like a Queen because for what you have given of yourself to racing. You are so special and have the most heart and personality I’ve ever seen in a horse. I’ve owned horses in the past and I loved them dearly but you are truly One of a KIND!
I love you, Zenyatta, and I wish you all the best that life can bring you.
Love, Amanda
Maria
I will miss you so dearly. I am sure you will be an excellent mom. I love you Zennie.

Zenny, I have signed every petition and personally written the NTRA regarding HOY!
I said everything else in my previous post.
I am sure Ann and Jerry will be sad to see you leave but I think you will be well taken care of at Lanes End. Would be great if Mario could go with you so you still had a good friend to make the transition easier.
Good night dear Zennie!
Lorri
So glad to see you so fit and happy Zen. You’re gonna love Lanes End and I’m sure AP Indy is practicing his pickup lines already. Don’t take any trash from those boys and enjoy your retirement. You deserve it. xxxx
Patty
Thanks, Queen Z for all you have done for us and for keeping in touch with your fans. Love keeping up with you and your family.

Hi Lady ‘Z’, there’s only been one other filly/mare that I’ve ever called Lady and that’s the Lady Ruffian, and you remind me so much of her in your essence/spirit. I’m sure she’s watching over you and saying ‘you done good girl!’. You’ve done what no other female horse has ever done in a while, you’ve captured the hearts/minds of the World! Once you’re settled in at Lane’s End, I most definitely will be down to visit with bunches of carrots and peppermints or would you prefer carrot cake? Don’t forget to let those boys know that you are your father’s daughter and if they don’t treat you right, that you have two ‘big’ little brothers down the road as well as your daddy (ha-ha), who’ll be more than glad to take care of them! Please give our unwavering thanks and gratitude to the Moss’s and the Shirreff’s as well as the ‘team’, especially Mario for taking such exceptional care of you and keeping you healthy and happy. Maybe other owners and trainers should take a page from their book on how to raise not just a racehorse but a ‘superstar’! That I learned from Ms. Penny (Chenery) and Secretariat, if you take good care of the horse, the horse will take good care of you! Tell Mike, he’s simply the best, every superhorse has their super jockey, and Mike is yours! Not only do I want you to win horse of the year but athlete of the year, because you absolutely deserve it. So thank you dear Lady for giving us a magnificent ride and wonderful memories to go with it. Now, on to the next exciting chapter in your life, and have a Guinness on me, you’ve earned it! And even if the powers that be don’t acknowledge it, thank you for what you’ve done for horseracing in bringing the excitement/excellence back to the sport, that alone ought to get you horse of the year! You were in it ‘for the love of the sport’ and not for the money, and for that you have my utmost respect and gratitude! Despite what those ‘talking heads’ may say, You gave every horse who wanted to a fair chance, but none took it because their
connections knew they didn’t stand a chance. Anyway, say Hi to Harmonious for me and let her know that you’ll keep in touch, us girls gotta stick together, you know! Will you be taking a four-legged companion with you to Kentucky, I hope so. I wouldn’t want you feeling lonely down there. See you soon, and dance pretty Lady!

Oh Zenyatta, I get misty just thinking about you leaving for KY!! How can racing get along without you and your team? Man, will I miss you and your entire team…Ellie loves you!
Gail Kinzel
I sure hope the people at your new place will love you and be with you as much as Team Z, I imagine you will miss them, as they will miss you…. terribly miss you. Also I hope they will keep these updates going and will allow us to visit you. It’s for the societal greater good – hope they realize that!!
Jennifer Hodell
Zenny I’ve watched you grow from the very first race. You are beautiful inside and out. I’ve never seen any other horse enjoy racing more than you. Now your on your way to a new adventure. We all wish you the best. Please keep in touch. We will miss you so much.
Kim Noble
They had betteer take very good care of you at Lanes End. And I hope with all my heart that the Moss’s check up on you all the time and I don’t mean by phone. Actually go and see for themselves with unannounced visits. You are far too special to be treated like some breeding machine and I hope someone will be watching out for you!
Susan White
I’ve worked in racing and have followed racing for over 40 yrs. A few years ago I blogged you are the greatest horse I have ever seen. Everybody said, who? Well, you showed them I was right, beautiful girl. They all know who you are now for your brilliance, and all love you for your kind heart. I will miss you more than I can say, and will love you for the rest of my life. Thank you, Queen, and thank you, Team Zenyatta. See you in Kentucky..
Ms. Wood
I know it has been printed that the Moss’s own about 75 horses. Giacomo,Tiago,Madeo,Set Them Free, but whatever happened to Mondatta? Half of the Zenyatta Mondatta? I would like to know if they care for ALL of their horses in the same manner. And I pray that they NEVER let one of their horses be sold to JAPAN, where Charismatic is NOW, bty who was also at LANES’S END. And where darling Ferdinand lost his life who had the same personality as Zenny. Anyone know where the horse Mondatta is?

Zen You have no idea how much you will be missed There is something so special about you , I could sit and watch you for hours . I can’t add much more than all the rest of these people who have fallen in love with you . But so wish you could stay In Ca. I would visit often and pay for the honor to visit you , I am glad your retiring though as i would be devestated if you were to get hurt . Please keep us posted maybe we will make the trip to see you ,God Bless you Beautiful Girl , Have no idea how your family can let you go , you would have your own house right next to mine ;-)
Linda Mox
You will be so truly missed, I bet it is so hard for your family to let you go, I could never do it. Lane Ends is beautiful and I hope they give you all the special treatment that you so deserve. Please keep me posted, I miss you already.
Sheryl Morgan
I just read Jerry and Ann aren’t going with Zenyatta. I just can’t believe they are going to send her to Ky by herself, with no familiar faces. She is too great a mare to be treated that way. She needs to be with her family and friends.
Karen
I want to thank the Moss’ for all they have done for us fans. Also, it’s a beautiful thing to see owners who actually LOVE their horses… so refreshing. You guys also picked one heck of a trainer. Most would have pushed her too soon, but Zenyatta was handled perfectly. Why do I keep crying about his magnificent horse? Going to miss you, lovely Zenyatta. Favorite quote “how do you describe perfection.. why try.. let’s just watch her run!”
