Good Morning,
This is too cute! John took the above photo of fans waiting in line Saturday at the signing…and I see so many people I know in the crowd. Of course, I’d recognize my guy, MIKIE, and the back of Dottie’s head anywhere as well. This is amazing! They told me several hundred people were in line during the course of the day. How special is this! You guys are TOO MUCH!
I also wanted to take a few moments today and answer a few of your questions. Here goes:
1) The Z pins….several of you were wondering how to get one. Ann is currently asking her friend who made them about this. I’ll let you know when I hear more. This is so sweet! The Moss’ also had one made for JOHN’S Mom as a gift. When John gave it to her, she was so touched…but did comment that she was not really part of Team Zenyatta. Dottie told her….”WITHOUT YOU, MARY JANE, THERE WOULD BE NO TEAM ZENYATTA! You started it all…when you had JOHN!” She smiled…and since that moment, she has worn her Z pin…with great and loving pride!
2) Zazu…you were wondering and yes….she does have a different trainer. The Moss’ actually do have 3 trainers they use in their racing program. John Shirreffs does not train all of their horses…quite a few…but not all of them. It all works out beautifully. And…yeah, ZAZU! I am so proud of YOU! Gotta’ love those Z names!
3) The Zenyatta Lounge…THANK YOU SO MUCH to the fans who brought items for the Lounge. You are so THOUGHTFUL! The ladies truly appreciate YOUR kindness. This Lounge is a huge success! A few weeks ago, everyone went out to dinner to relax and have fun together! Such a treat!
Also…it was so nice for my TEAM to get to personally meet so many of you on Saturday. Dottie mentioned that it was very special when you’d introduce yourself to her! Thank you!
4) One of the fans put a YOU TUBE site on the comments a few days ago and Dottie was able to watch it yesterday! She watched it once with the music and once without. It is a beautiful collage of photos of ME that someone put together! It is great fun to watch. Decide on whether you want the volume on…or off…depending on your musical taste. The song is JESUS IS LOVE by the Commodores.

It sure brings back so many wonderful memories!
Enjoy and have a wonderful day!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

PS…I hear I’m having some FUN company today! Might be an early VALENTINE showing up to visit with me and see me play with my friends at Lane’s End! I’ll let you know what happens! Wow…Lucky Me! (Oh my dear fans, this visitor has 2 legs…not 4…and lives out of state!)

Hello Z, the video you talked about above is, in my mind, SPECTACULAR. I have watched it over and over and posted it twice on my face book page. I love the song and since God sent you to all of us I think it works. It makes me cry when I watch. Not sad just happy tears. It is truly beautiful as you are. Thanks for all the information in your post today. Always great to hear what is going on. Keep up the good work. I will be waiting to hear from you. I LOVE YOU ZENTAYYA!!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

I am very curious as to how “Zasu” got her name, also. She wouldn’t be named after the actress, Zasu Pitts? You younger fans are probably scratching your heads. I know….I’m ancient.
Celeste
Wow. It seems like I just cannot get through the day without checking in here several times and I’m always rewarded with another wonderful diary post! I love it! Thank you for the link to you-tube and thank you to Christine Valada for the link to your blog/photos – thank you for sharing that with us. I’m going to go back now and read more of the comments, but I had to say my thank yous first.
Paul
Zenyatta, I am not a bit surprised that you know so many people. I would give anything in the world to be one of those people myself. If I had a Zenyatta pin, I would never-well, almost never-take it off. They even named a lounge after you. I would love to be able to make a contribution to it as well as come to it. I might never leave it. I might have to be dragged out kicking and screaming. Your post from yesterday mentions a couple of guys from Texas who collect Zenyatta paraphenalia who came out to Lane’s End Farm to see you play. Sooner or later, I won’t be a bit surprised if your place of residence charges admission just to come and see you and your buddies play and frolic around. It would be worth every penny and then some if you ask me.
Joan
@ Cynthis, am an old movie buff, and mid 60, I know who Zazu Pitts was!!
Loved the slide show, the ones with Mario my favs the love just ooozes off the screen. Hope he was her 2 legged visitor,I know she would love to see him.
Love ya Z.
Bonnie MacRaith
Zazu was named after an album or was it a song, forget which, that Jerry Moss helped produced awhile back…vague information but it give you the gist. Dottie, do you know?
Snoprinz
I wonder who this two-legged friend is and from out-of-state too. Keep us posted on who he/she is. I too am interested in a Z pin. I hope it becomes available for purchase online.

Dearest, Zenny. What a great post. Dottie, thank you! You can certainly feel the love being expressed by all of the diary responses. The energy that surrounds you is just magical. Enjoyed the picture John took giving us the Team Z prespective on that great crowd of Z fans. Oh, I wish I could of been there! What fantastic individuals Ms. Chenery and Team Z are. To spend hours signing and still connect and engage each person in front of them is so gracious. They touch our heart in so many ways. How wonderful that Old Friends and Canter got the benefit of the sales of the poster and lithograph. Zenny, you and Team Z are always thinking of ways to give back. Keep hoping for news of a possible chance to visit you, that would really be a dream come true. I am looking at heading to Kentucky this year, but have been holding out for word before I firm up reservations. Fingers crossed. Happy the Zenyatta Lounge ladies were surprised with some goodies, hope they enjoyed their dinner out. Put me on the list for the Z pin, will look forward to more details. Can’t wait to hear who your secret visitor is, maybe pictures too? Sweet dreams, beautiful. Love you so much!! Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@Christine Valada – Thank you so much for sharing the pictures they were great. Almost made me feel like I was there. Everytime I see Ms. Chenery, Ann and Dottie I am struck by the inner beauty I see shining forth. They are strong, smart, accomplished women who also give care and consideration to others. What marvelous examples to young women everywhere. Glad you got a signed copy of Secretariat’s Meadow, I have one also and it is wonderful.
@Nancy – I will keep positive thoughts that you will be at SA for the Oaks and get to see Zazu win again.

Hi Lady Z, that sweetie wouldn’t happened to stand about 5’2” and ride a horse named Drosselmeyer would he? Considering that Drosselmeyer will be running in the Mineshaft Stakes at the Fairgrounds on the 19th, not much to stop by on the way there, hmmmmm! Well, I hope he’s your Valentine and that he definitely brings flowers, carrots (or carats), and sweets for his sweetie, you deserve them! Lots of hugs and peppermint kisses…..

Oh, wanted to say “hello” to John’s mom. Love the story of the Z pin. You certainly are an important part of Team Z. My mother is 83 and my best friend. For the past several years I have been taking her on driving trips around the US and I am starting to work on this years. One goal she wants is to see all of the Presidential libraries, we only have about 7 left. She also loves golf, so I took her to the Masters a couple of years ago. We have also been to Churchill Downs many times. And each year she patiently waits for me at each horse farm in Kentucky while I take my camera and disappear amoung the thoroughbreds. Bliss! They are memories that I will hold dear forever.

Hi Zenny: I love the picture that John took showing all your many fans waiting in line on your special award day. They sure were lucky to meet your Team Z. Thanks for telling us about the Z pin. I would like to have one too. Now, I can’t stand the suspense. So, I’ll try to guess??? You know, you have all of us trying to figure out who it is coming to see you!!! I bet the two legged guest is Mikey!!!! I would guess Mario too, but I think he is very busy at Barn 55. My next guess would be Steve! So I guess with all these guesses, I’ll just have to stay tuned until tomorrow to find out. Love, Linda

Zenny, I also want to mention how much I enjoyed the beautiful collage of photos on the You Tube video. One of your fans mentioned that if you expand something you can read about the person that put it together. I could not figure out how to do that. However, I truly enjoyed watching it several times. There is also a longer version of it. Both were absolutely wonderful. I hope it stays out on You Tube forever.

@Dawn Conrad–what a beautiful thing you are doing for your mom. Mine died before her 94th birthday, and I was thankful for the trips we had taken together (not so many as you, though).
This website is a beautiful force for good.
Good night, precious Z. I’m so glad you and Mikey had a Valentine visit, and that you got carrots!
Quarterhossgal
What a touching video on Youtube. The shots of you with Mario are so beautiful. Glad to hear Mike came to see you. Can’t wait to see the pictures. Your next 2 legged guest should be Mario, he would give you a great rub down and special massage!

Hi Zenny,
I had a great day at Santa Anita last Saturday. I saw Zazu win her race, and after the winners cirlce I met her trainer (John Sadler). He is so tall! Turbulent Decent was 3 for 3 last year. This was her 1st lost (to Zazu). They are both great fillies.
I saw your ceremony. During the video of your 2009 BCC win against the boys, all your fans SHOUTED –> with the track annowncer, “this is unbelieveable, what a performance. One we’ll never forget!” That was so much fun.
Later on I talked with your trainer John Shirreffs. What a sweetie.
I loved that day. I miss you here Z. I’m so grateful that I can come here to see what’s up!
Cheryl Denton
Zenyatta, no other horse comes close to you. Congratulations on the Secretariat award, it is well deserved and really, there was no other choice. It makes me so happy to see so many other people who love you like I do–you radiate such joy, love and positive feelings. These are things we all are in desperate need of, and you and Team Z deliver every time. I wanted to wish Zazu the best of luck as well, I know you’d be there cheering her on if you could. You are THE QUEEN and I love you! XO
Linda from Vermont

Enjoy your Valentine’s surprise. Mario or Mike????? Hmmmmmmmm. Either way it’s a win , win. I agree with the comment the pictures with you and Mario are indeed so touching. Always a smile and sometimes a tear. It is so moving. The Z pin is a great idea, even if it’s just cubic zirconia or rhinestones!!! You are the real deal however. Can’t wait for my poster and my Breyer horse coming soon. Thank you Dottie and I saw the video on you tube when I was looking for the HRTV POST. It is really a nice video collage. Thanks to the person that posted it. Pictures from one of your comment fans were great at the signing.
Thanks to all.
Deneen
Wonderful diary entry and beautiful video!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!
Lori Stein
Hey Big Beautiful One,
I loved the video of you they showed on HRTV when your CA family received the People’s Horse Award. You look so happy. You can tell your girlfriends look up to you and like to follow you. It does my heart so good to see you that happy in retirement. Keep the pictures and videos coming. I just heard about the Z pin, I would love to have one. I had a Z pendant with a diamond on it made about a year ago and I wear it everyday! I also ordered a diamond butterfly pendant that I haven’t gotten yet to wear in honor of your transformation to a new life and career on the farm. I love to wear those things close to my heart, just like you are. I just saw it was Mikey who came to see you. He’s your Valentine until you go to see Bernardini. Talk to you soon beautiful one!
