Good Morning Everyone,
It’s been a busy, busy few days…for sure! Today is the SUPER BOWL…and we are very excited. P.Q. and I have been really looking over the stats for the GAME and the strategies we would apply to try and decide WHO we think will win! Oh, how I love SPORTS!
Well, after much thought and analysis…I really can’t decide who I like the best. I guess it comes down to just LOVING THOSE ADORABLE FANS from Green Bay who will WEAR THOSE BIG HUNKS OF CHEESE ON THEIR HEADS.
As an individual who LOVES the way all of my FANS SUPPORTED ME…I must say that is what is so fabulous with GREEN BAY! So…I’ve gotta’ love them for this reason.
Speaking of fans…yesterday was amazing. My TEAM, my FANS and Mrs. Chenery are so special! The ceremony was delayed a bit…until after the 6th race. So sorry we did not know this in advance to alert you. I guess this is part of LIVE ACTION on TV. But…everything was fabulous and the day was one to remember! I will share photos John took with you soon.
For now, Dottie did get the special YOU TUBE link from Santa Anita…HRTV for YOU!
AND…HAPPY SUPER BOWL SUNDAY! I better go get my CHEESE HEAD HAT on…to watch the game! (I love this TEAM SPIRIT FAN ENTHUSIASM stuff! It is GREAT FUN!)
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

Hi Zenny, I watched all the races until the presentation. I didn`t want to miss it. Penny was lovely. She is truly class as your owners are. Just think about it. You are the first to recieve this wonderful award. Its from The Great SECRETARIAT… You and him true royalty.. I`m very proud of you Zen. Loved seeing you at Lanes End. You were having a good old time showing off. It was almost as if you were finally free.. Love you Zenny, Alene…Thank you Dottie

An interesting comment on the Secretariat Vox Populi Award from a reader of the Miami Herald News:
“This award is an important addition to horse racing honors. Thank you, Peggy Chenery. The award should not, however, be used to eliminate from future Eclipse Horse of the Year award considerations the value of a champion racehorse’s contribution to the sport or to horse racing fans unless criteria for the Horse of the Year award are written and published to that effect. In my view, that would be a mistake. To separate the interests of horse racing fans from those within the sport and the sports writers, devalues the importance of fans to the survival of the sport.
In the debate about 2010 Horse of the Year, I have read very little about the significance of two factors: the tendency of sports writers to be dismissive of female athletes and the significance of racehorse champions to the larger needs of the nation.
Zenyatta has been special because her athletic talent and her charisma attracted media attention. How many female athletes garner the same kind and degree of attention? A case in point was the recent relative disregard for the accomplishments of the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team. Zenyatta’s media recognition, including her front page presence in The New York Times, offers hope that other female athletes can also make front page as well as sports page headlines. To all who are champions of gender equality, Zenyatta symbolizes success.
We are living in trying times. Many people are unemployed, homes are being foreclosed, school district, city, state, and national budgets are being cut, we are engaged in seemingly unending wars and large numbers of American military men and women are returning home badly wounded. Just as Seabiscuit offered a symbol of success and hope to many afflicted by the Great Depression, so Zenyatta has been a model of what we hold dear: talent combined with heart, charisma mixed with sweetness, beauty enhanced by innocence. She has given us a focus away from the worries and sorrows of daily life. She has offered us hope that we can still pursue and find happiness in spite of our present political contentiousness, social upheaval, and psychological duress. Zenyatta is a horse for the ages not only because of her performance on the race
track, which was superb. She is the horse of our era because she has spoken to our better selves at a time when we have lost some sense of our moral compass. If that were not the case, why did so many men and women weep when she was acknowledged as 2010 Horse of the Year? When her biography is written, I believe that Zenyatta’s larger significance, one that transcends her sport, will be acknowledged and celebrated.”

Congrats on your award. The two best races horses in history….Zenyatta and Secretariat.
Linda (Canada)
Queen Z and Team Z – I watched the Youtube presentation of the presentation of the Vox Populi Award – talk about racing royalty! – Ms. Chenery and the Moss’….and Dottie and John and Kate Tweedy…all together….I loved the movie “secretariat” and after seeing it at the theatre, ordered “Secretariat’s Meadow” and now have it on my coffe-table – it’s a great book!
We don’t get many itmes of racing here in Canada…I saw the beautiful poster of Secretariat and Zenny on one of the websites, and saved it on my computer, and it is now my screensaver! (looks SO beautiful)…I can probably have a mouse-pad or something made from it.
How special to have Ms. Penny Chenery give this award to Zenyatta…the poster is SO fitting tho’ if you think of it….the King anad Queen of racing looking at each other – BEAUTIFUL portraits, by the way of both horses.
As someone else posted earlier, Zenny has set the bar pretty high tho’ – hard to imagine a horse this year being as popular and special to racing as Zenyatta. What a gorgeous looking statue to adorn the Moss’ house tho’!
I’m glad they had a great day on Sat – Zazu won a Grade 1 and also this award.
Thanks to Dottie for the link to the video.
Z’s 1/2 sister looks quite a bit like her!
We’ll be watching her! :)

I really do want to thank the whole Team Zenyatta for being so understanding and wonderful. We were in line for over an hour to buy our signed posters, when the lady from santa anita came around and suggested we leave because they would never get to us in an hour. I said to my friends “I’m not leaving” no matter what the lady says, because I know team Zenyatta would not leave so many hundreds of fans disappointed. And I was right. They worked many hours overtime, and I’m sure were exhausted, after press conferences and award ceremonies, but they signed well into the late afternoon, when they were supposed to finish at noon. This is what sets Team Zanyatta apart from so many other busy, successful, people. It is their compassion and kindness, their love and committment to their animals and fans that creates a fairytale life for all of us. MANY,MANY THANKS TEAM ZENYATTA AND MANY THANKS TO ZENYATTA FOR INTRODUCING US TO HER WONDERFUL FAMILY. And, Zenyatta, I love your friend Pirate Queen too. She looks so sweet and just adores you. You are such a lucky girl!

@ myrna miller: Thank you for sharing your story with us. I have never met the Moss’ or anyone with Team Zenyatta, but, that is the way the entire team strikes me. They are just very, very kind, considerate and thoughtful people. To Team Zenyatta: that was so GREAT of all of you. I am sure you can only imagine how thrilled everyone of those fans were to have a chance to meet all of you and Mrs. Chenery. Those fans will cherish those memories forever.

Oh Zenny!! That picture of you and PQ is precious and too cute. I’m glad you enjoyed your ceremony yesterday. It was so touching to see Mr & Mrs Moss receive the award for you! They are such wonderful people. And I noticed their horse Zazu (I think) won yesterday! I was happy to see those pretty silks on the track again. Of course, I also loved the pasture footage. I must go watch it again. Loved seeing you frolic with the girls. Bye for now. I do love you so Miss Zenny.

I’ve seen this pic of you PQ on other website, but every time I see it confirms horses herding instinct and desire for companionship. PQ next to you and what appears to be a loving demeanor towards you is palpable.
Have a great week Z with your friends.
