Good Morning Everyone!
Well, it has been a very busy morning here at the farm. The camera crew arrived at 7:30 and went immediately out to see me in the paddock. It was rainy and a bit foggy…but they feel they got some wonderful footage of me playing in the field with my friends. I think I looked ‘terrific’ as well. Hair, nails…and overall ME…in GREAT SHAPE!
Today is the day of the Secretariat Award. Last night, there was a small dinner party for Mrs. Chenery which John and Dottie attended. They had a wonderful, wonderful time. John so loves RACING HISTORY. Above is the photo he has had for years of SECRETARIAT which hangs in his office at the house. He looks at it every single day…with GREAT RESPECT for what Secretariat accomplished, achieved, and the manner in which his efforts have truly helped our sport and his fellow horses.
John felt it was truly a GREAT honor to be able to visit with Mrs. Chenery last night on such an intimate level…and discuss HER BIG RED!
Too cute…John will blush at this…but he even wore a blue/white checked shirt in honor of her silks. How adorable! (You know my John…DETAILS DO MATTER!)
Now….as for all of the fans being able to view the different things happening today…Dottie has been working with Amy Zimmerman from HRTV trying to make this happen. We know many of you do not have HRTV or your cable companies do not carry it. It is cold outside in so many parts of the country so you are not able to get out to go to a track setting. So….we have tried to work out some special things for YOU!
Per Amy…’Today’s presentation will be available in several places. It will be live on HRTV and streamed live on HRTVlive.com…which is the network’s subscription platform. Immediately following the presentation (or as immediately as technology allows), it will be available FREE OF CHARGE on HRTVlive.com through HRTV’s Facebook page and through HRTV’s You Tube site.
From what Amy told Dottie, they will also try and put up any extra footage of ME at Lane’s End on these sites soon..perhaps as early as tomorrow…for you to see more of ME playing in the paddock.
Now, Dottie is trying to get it set up so you can go to MY FACEBOOK PAGE as well (remember…this Facebook Icon is on the very front page of ZENYATTA.COM)…click the Facebook part…and we are hoping to get it to allow you to the HRTV page. TECHNOLOGY can be ‘interesting’ to say the least, but Dottie is trying to work with all of these people to get this to happen for YOU! Let’s hope! Hooves crossed!
Cheers to a fun day!
I just adore ALL OF YOU for caring SO MUCH about ME!
I am truly one very BLESSED HORSE!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

Diana_NV: What an amazing (and time-consuming!) effort you gave for our Z yesterday. I really admire your devotion to your own horse, and your positive attitude at the end of it all. I hope your 24-year-old baby is doing okay. And
I hope you’re able to get a poster (signed?) when/if they order more.

Dani and Kitei, bless you for your wonderful comments! I always look for what you write. I’ve spending the weekend recuperating from a bad cold, staying indoors and re-watching all the fabulous YouTube videos of Queen Z. There’s one I saw today that’s REALLY SMASHING — called “This is Zenyatta” by Backstretch Runner. Worth looking at!! Congratulations to Team Z and Mrs. Chenery on yet another display of class, integrity, and dedication to horses and horse racing.

@dani- Well said. What a wonderful post. Thanks Lori.

Dearest, Zenny. Hope you are having a fantastic day in your paddock!! I have been reading some of the posts from those that were in attendance at SA yesterday. Thank you so much for sharing everyone. How special for all of you to meet Ms. Chenery and Team Z. I just received an e-mail from Chris Crocker at the gift store. Any of you that ordered something I’m sure have received it also. But,I wanted to share for those who may not. I loved how she described the day, saying how unexpected the turnout was at over 6,000. She also described how everyone continued to sign posters long after they were scheduled to stop. Ms. Chenery and the Mosses finally had media obligations. Mike stayed until the stewards sent him to the jockeys room. And of course our wonderful Dottie and John were “troopers” as Chris said, until the last poster. We love you all so much! She also said, “you Zenyatta fans would be totally overwhelming as a group, it you were not all so delightful one on one. She continued, “On a a personal note, I’ve had the opportunity to speak and email with some of you – – and the wave of positive energy you send is greatly appreciated.” Thank you Chris, for the kind words and for all of your efforts on our behalf!! Goodbye for now Zenny. Hugs and kisses.
@Dani – Your post was great! I certainly believe that we are one very special group. I agree there is a powerful wave of positive energy combined with overall human kindness; not only for our beautiful Zenyatta and her outstanding Team Z, but for each and everyone who posts on this diary. Together we share a remarkable connection and are part of the fairytale.

Zenny, so glad you and John have each other in your lives. What a blessing to you both. If he feels special about Secretariat, just imagine how much more you mean to him. Maybe if your first-born is a colt, they should name him John Shirreffs! I’m sure Jerry and Ann will come up with another great name.

My Sweet Lady Zenyatta, Thanks for taking care of your Fan Family and making it so accessable for everyone to see you! I am so proud of you, Zenyatta, for what you have given to your Fan Family. A wonderful new look at horse racing and getting people to look at the history of this sport. There are so many wonderful horses that people never knew about if they had not met you and I want to thank The Mosses & The Sherriffs for all the time & effort to make this happen. I know in my heart that if The Mosses had not owned you & The Sherriffs had not trained you & Mike Smith had not riden you & Mario had not groomed you & many others, we would have never known about you. The Mosses are such loving & wonderful people for sharing you with the world. I don’t think others would have been as kind to share you or take care of you like they have. John always had your best interest at heart when he held off to race you. I think of that a lot and I know he is responsible for keeping you so healthy & sound your whole racing career. I wish the other racehorses had trainers that care about them the way John has cared & loved you. Congratulations on the 1st Secretarit’s Award! What a great experience for Mrs. Chenery to honor you with the most beautiful statue of Secretariat. I ordered the poster & your photo. I’ll always have sweet memories of you when I look at them. WOW! Secretariat and Zenyatta will always be linked in history together as 2 of the most loved and magnificant racehorses ever to have lived in my lifetime.I have been blessed to see you both race. Hugs & Kisses From Alabam With Love, Amanda G.

I’ll bet you had lots of fun this past Saturday, Zenyatta. You were out playing with your friends and being filmed, knowing they will see it at the Secretariat Award Presentation. I think the film crew was as excited as you were. That’s why it started at 7:30 in the morning. Your Zenyatta team seems to be very hard at work, such as working with the crew at HRTV to make the broadcast of the ceremony possible as well as everything else that they do for you.
Cheryl
Oh Zenyatta! You are so incredibly wonderful and so deserving of the award! I was so proud for you and so glad that now the whole world acknowledges your fantastic gift! Just LOVE YOU little lady!
