Good Morning Everyone!
Well, it has been a very busy morning here at the farm. The camera crew arrived at 7:30 and went immediately out to see me in the paddock. It was rainy and a bit foggy…but they feel they got some wonderful footage of me playing in the field with my friends. I think I looked ‘terrific’ as well. Hair, nails…and overall ME…in GREAT SHAPE!
Today is the day of the Secretariat Award. Last night, there was a small dinner party for Mrs. Chenery which John and Dottie attended. They had a wonderful, wonderful time. John so loves RACING HISTORY. Above is the photo he has had for years of SECRETARIAT which hangs in his office at the house. He looks at it every single day…with GREAT RESPECT for what Secretariat accomplished, achieved, and the manner in which his efforts have truly helped our sport and his fellow horses.
John felt it was truly a GREAT honor to be able to visit with Mrs. Chenery last night on such an intimate level…and discuss HER BIG RED!
Too cute…John will blush at this…but he even wore a blue/white checked shirt in honor of her silks. How adorable! (You know my John…DETAILS DO MATTER!)
Now….as for all of the fans being able to view the different things happening today…Dottie has been working with Amy Zimmerman from HRTV trying to make this happen. We know many of you do not have HRTV or your cable companies do not carry it. It is cold outside in so many parts of the country so you are not able to get out to go to a track setting. So….we have tried to work out some special things for YOU!
Per Amy…’Today’s presentation will be available in several places. It will be live on HRTV and streamed live on HRTVlive.com…which is the network’s subscription platform. Immediately following the presentation (or as immediately as technology allows), it will be available FREE OF CHARGE on HRTVlive.com through HRTV’s Facebook page and through HRTV’s You Tube site.
From what Amy told Dottie, they will also try and put up any extra footage of ME at Lane’s End on these sites soon..perhaps as early as tomorrow…for you to see more of ME playing in the paddock.
Now, Dottie is trying to get it set up so you can go to MY FACEBOOK PAGE as well (remember…this Facebook Icon is on the very front page of ZENYATTA.COM)…click the Facebook part…and we are hoping to get it to allow you to the HRTV page. TECHNOLOGY can be ‘interesting’ to say the least, but Dottie is trying to work with all of these people to get this to happen for YOU! Let’s hope! Hooves crossed!
Cheers to a fun day!
I just adore ALL OF YOU for caring SO MUCH about ME!
I am truly one very BLESSED HORSE!
With Love,
Hugs to all~
Z

I don’t get HRTV, but I hope to be able to see it on the website. I wish TVG was showing it too. Stay warm sweet girl! You are so amazing Zenny, I hope you know that. :) Love, Katie (future jockey)

Zenyatta, you and your whole team are beyond remarkable for so many reasons. This latest diary post is amazing, especially for all Dottie’s attempts to make HRTV footage of the awards ceremony and of you at Lane’s End available to everyone who loves you and wants to share this with you. And John! I loved your remark that for John DETAILS DO MATTER. Everything about him shows what a perfectionist he is in things that matter. But wearing a blue and white checked shirt to last night’s dinner was almost too sweet. When I called Chris in the Santa Anita Gift Shop yesterday to order your poster, she said she had received so many orders and that EVERY Zenyatta fan had been so nice – she, too, is in awe of the impact you have had on so many people. How fortunate we are to have been brought together around a such a special being and her equally special team. Thank you all from deep in my heart.

How could we possibly not love you? And thank you to everyone in Team Zenyatta for allowing all of us to remain in contact with our girl.
Marion

to the people wanting to know how to get the Mike Smith Zenyatta silver necklace – it doesn’t look that post is ever going to come up so I’ll try something different. Maybe the problem was that the post contained an email address, so I’ll try it without: go to mikesmith-jockey.com and click on contact. Email Vic Rossi, Mike’s assistant at the email address on that page. She’ll send you the information on the necklace.

I am so sad I am going to miss it. I wish there was a link that I could view it later on ….Congratulations Zenyatta

Zenyatta and Dottie – I’m sitting here in my pj’s “crying for happy” for Dottie to work so hard to make this happen is just the greatest. To be able to see you and this ceremony if not live at least via the internet, even if its the day after. I can’t wait. I may go over to Del Mar, not positive yet. I bought the Blu-Ray of Secretariat and watched it last night (again) and all the special features. What a woman and what a wonderful horse. And now we have you for the ages. With all the additional technology too. Thanks to Dottie and HRTV and all th hard work. When is your movie coming?????
I’m glad John and Dottie had a nice time with Mrs. Chenery. She is amazing. You and your family never, ever cease to amaze us all. Thanks to all of you, over and over.
Caroline
Thank you so much Team Zenyatta and HRTV for making the Secretariat Awards availible for those of us that don’t have HRTV!

Thank so much for thinking of your fans Z. You and your family are absolutely the best of the best. It is just so amazing that even after you won the Horse of the Year that your family continues to think of your fans with such respect. Amazing!!!! I love you Z! xxoo
Denise
Congrats to Team Z! Enjoy today, your award and the wonderful Mrs. Chenery. I soooo wish I could be there today but South Carolina is a long, long way away. I’d love to have a signed copy of the Secretariat/Zenyatta picture. :-( But I don’t know anyone personally that is going! Darn! Oh well, be assured I am there in spirit….Blessed to “know” you all!
Barbara
Thank you Dottie so much and Zenyatta of course! Very exciting day! God Bless:))

Zenyatta, As you so sweetly already know, you are a most fortunate horse to have been given all of your amazing personal gifts (beauty, style, grace, strength, focus, agility, speed, HEART, kindness, elegance, sense of humor, gentleness, femininity, leadership ability, dance moves, sparkle… the list goes on and on.) You also know you have been blessed with a devoted, loving, and most generous family. Think of the amazing people who love you, care for you, and also want to make the world a better place in your honor – Ann, Jerry, John, Dottie, Mike…and others who, with their loving and gentle ways, are teaching the world about a kinder way of being. We all know at least some of their names, one of which is, of course, your beloved Mario.
As your spokesperson, translator, and devoted fan liaison, your Aunt Dottie may be the most wonderful gift of all, especially to all of us out here in the world who love you too. Please give Dottie a big nose kiss and a loving nuzzle the next time you see her. She will go into the history books of our hearts right along with you.
Mary Stanford
Z…..tell Dottie thanks for all her hard work….your fans sure do appreciate you and Dottie. Dottie is probably the best executive assistant you could ever have Z..what what you do without Dottie lining all this stuff up …and all her getting it online to us fans….a big hug to Dottie!!! Us fans love you Dottie….

Cheers to you — I’ll have champagne & you have a Guiness!!

No, it is we who are blessed. Thank you to Dottie for all time she devotes to making all this happen. Somehow I don’t think your hooves would adapt to a keyboard. Her efforts are greatly appreciated by all of us I’m sure. I will be glued to the TV at 4:30pm CST here in the Midwest. I can just picture John in his blue and white check shirt.

Dearest, Zenyatta. Dottie is so wonderful!! Tears burned my eyes because of how much it meant that she would take the time and effort to make sure we are all included in your very special day. Can’t wait!! Her kindness always touches my heart. Our John is so great. I can just picture him in his blue and white shirt with Ms. Chenery. It had to mean so much to him to be able to sit down with an actual living legend and talk about the history that still lives so vividly in our memories. My own love for Secretariat has never lessened over the past 37 years. It was fantastic for me to get to meet Ron Turcott. He was so gracious. The champions that he has ridden are amazing, I mean horses such as Riva Ridge, Nothern Dancer and of course “BIG RED” Secretariat. Wow!! Glad you had fun with the camera crew, Zenny and that they were able to get some great footage of you beautiful. CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN TO ALL OF TEAM Z! YOU BRING SUCH JOY TO US ALL! THANK YOU! Hope you have a great day, Zenny. Enjoy! Hugs and kisses.
@Karen Mitchell – loved the post. I couldn’t agree more.
Janet
Congratulations on your well deserved award Zenny! And a great big thanks to Dottie, John, the Mosses and everyone on team Z for sharing the info and photos with us. We look forward to seeing and reading everything you post. I don’t want to be a pest about this but is there any chance a DVD will be released any time soon? Love you Z!!

Zenyatta – Hooves crossed. You are just too cute. I am so looking forward to the presentation. I can only imagine the HONOR that it is to be linked with Secretariat. It should be great footage of you romping in the snow for the crowd at Santa Anita. Love and Hugs. Joan

I just finished reading all the posts from #75, and went back to Facebook and saw there’s already a #76. Team Zenyatta rocks!!! You truly deserve this award today; how will any horse & its team qualify next year … you go beyond (can’t find the word) everyday for your fans. Wow.

Z, the fact that we have been able to follow you and your amazing story even after you’ve left the track has been such a joy. I am so grateful to Dottie and all your family for allowing us to keep you with us in all the diary posts. Today is another special day for you- I can’t wait to watch this afternoon! Bless my dear husband for getting me the racing channels 3 years ago when we changed cable providers!
Rhonda Clements
Dottie you are the best, it means so much to us to be able to see all the wonders of Zenny and to be able to share all the honors she is finally getting for her amazing career. But more important to share her the wonder of her spirit. It just comes through in all she does. Thanks to all of team Z involved for taking the time to share her with us. Our love is with you all. Will be watching later Congratulations !!

Dottie, as I have said before, you are a gem. Thanks for setting all this up for us. John was so sweet to wear the blue and white checked shirt for Penny Chenery. I am sure the dinner was lovely and Penny had a great time. Secretariat was the King and now we have our Queen. I have watched the Secretariat movie 5 times so far. My husband says they need to make a Zenyatta movie. I totally agree.
