Good Morning,
So many of you have wanted to see more of my surroundings. HRTV will be filming tomorrow…but John took some lovely photos of Lane’s End during his recent visits.
Here is a view from one part of my paddock. I see this daily when I go out and play. There ….enjoying the beautiful grounds…is this lovely sculpture of a BUNNY! There are several pieces like this on the farm. They make everything a bit more ‘fun’ to look at each day. I’d have to say, in my free time, I’m learning to enjoy and appreciate ART as well.
The other interesting part of this is that my dear jockey, MIKIE, has an AUNT (Aunt Nedra) who owns the NEDRA MATTEUCCI GALLERIES in Santa Fe, New Mexico. From what I’ve been told, several of these pieces on the farm were purchased from her gallery during the last several years…long before I resided here.
It always seems to amaze me how ‘the world’ is really so much more closely knit than what one thinks. Here I am at Lane’s End…appreciating the ART pieces that were purchased from a GALLERY owned by my MIKIE’S AUNT. Oh…it is such a small world!
HMMMMM…seems like I am really getting very reflective in my free time! I must say, I think another side of my personality seems to be developing! Too Cute!
I’m off to get ready for tomorrow’s photos/videos. Several of you have asked…the ceremony will take place at 2:30ish PST at Santa Anita. Hope to see you then!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

Dottie, have you considered compiling these diary posts into a book for publication? Perhaps John could contribute some of his photographs.
I think it would be a tremendous seller.

Dear Z,
Just saw the video of Bernardini on Bloodhorse. You are gonna have one beautiful baby (I think he or she will be a dancer also). Love to all of you. Judy and Russ

Hi Zenny!
I hope someone records your big event. I don’t get HRTV and can’t get an account to watch it online because I live in a state that doesn’t allow it. Anyway, we’ll be thinking about you and know it will be fabulous! Have fun!

That is some bunny, Zenyatta. It looks like she is smiling knowing that you are there. I photocopied your coloring book and brought it in for my students today. They were thrilled. Some do visit your diary even. The kindergarten students can even read your name! See how famous you are? Even in a very small town! They think you are beautiful and VERY COOL!
Can’t wait for tomorrow. I won’t be able to watch it, but will be thinking of you. No HRTV or TVG here in northern New York just lots of snow! HA!
Gloria
I love bunnies, Big Mama Z! That one is adorable, just like you. I loved that Tango video that was posted yesterday. I want kisses from Zenyatta! Love you, big girl!!

Hi Zenny, I will be at Santa Anita tomorrow. This will be the first time since they have the new dirt track in. I am looking forward to the day. Penny will be there to sighn the poster of Secretariat and yourself along with Ann & Jerry, Mike Smith and also Dearest John. I will be happy to see all of them. They will be recieveing your award that will be given by Penny after the 5th race. My thoughts will be of you during the whole day and I will be wearing the necklace that Mike had made as a siloutte of a horse head with a Z and also Mike’s initals on it. A very nice piece. The proceeds from the necklace go toward the Zentatta Lounge at Santa Anita. How wonderful is that! I thought that was great. Hope you have an exciting day tomorrow dearest Zenyatta I love you much.

Awww, Zenny, you’ll have your own Easter Bunny this year…bet he’ll bring you carrots. When you look at the bunny, it will remind you of it’s connection to your Mikie. Wish I could be there tomorrow to hear Liza G. sing your song and see Mrs. Chenery honor you with the first award in the name of Secretariat. I want to express my appreciation for your diary posts. It is heartwarming to have this connection to you and the photos so you’ll still be close to us and you can feel our connection to you. :)

Hello Beautiful,
Your guy Mike was in what I thought was a really great article yesterday:
http://www.drf.com/news/paddock-talk-art-giving-prerace-instructions
I’m sorry if it was posted yesterday – I couldn’t get on the page most of the day.
Can’t wait for tomorrow!
Love you XXOOOXX

Love these posts!! I have been to the Nedra Matteucci gallery and sculpture garden in Santa Fe and it is a wonderful gallery. This was several years ago, before Zeny but I knew Mike Smiths Aunt owned it, I kept looking for pictures of him but no luck…! The rabbit sculpture is adorable, this is the Chinese year of the rabbit. I get tvg but no hrtv, my thoughts will certainly be with you. Love to all…..

As so many have said please make a video of tomorrow’s awards! Those of us that don’t get HRTV would love to see how Zenny is doing. I’m sure Zen will be brushed and braided to look great for the camera. It sounds like it will be another exciting day for all of Team Z. Bless you Dottie for keeping all of us in the Z loop.

Dear Queen-Z & Team-Z,
I love that you have a Bunny sculpture to look at, from your paddock. It was just the “Chinese New Year”, two days ago, and this is the “Year of the Rabbit”?! Also, I think the Rabbit is a symbol for fertility ?! How appropriate for the paddock for baren mares. Maybe it’s a Good Luck symbol for all the mares, waiting and wanting to become pregnant ?!!
I’m looking forward to seeing your connections and other fans at SA, tomorrow. Hope your Photo-shoot went well, today. I know you looked fabulous and your images will be breath-taking, as always !! Take care and keep in touch. Hugs to all. Fondly, OraJean

@Karey,
I had trouble with HRTV’s live feed when I first signed up, too. Are you getting logged in but only see something circling around? That’s what I had – what I found was that Chrome or IE8 would not work. Fortunately I have a computer that still has IE7 and it works fine with that.
Good luck – once I got it to work, I really like it.

HRTV sounds like a pretty cool channel (great programs!).
I will be on again tomorrow but Z! get your beauty rest! Tomorrow is the big day. Dottie, wear your prettiest shoes. Team Zenyatta has so much to be proud of. A happy, healthy, successful Zenyatta and many many people who love her…and love her so much we all want to give to horses who are less fortunate. What a great community. And it’s all because of Z.
Thank you, Dottie. Sleep tight, Z.
Nighty night.

To my Queen Zenyatta
I can not wait to see you again on the big screen again tomorrow. It will bring many tears to my eyes most will be happy -some will be sad. The hardest part of all this is letting go – I don’t want to let you go. You are my smile, my joy, my happiness, you are my chills and goosebumps. Your races brought me something to look forward to. I feel lost without you- I now have a huge void in my life that you filled for so long, I want more time with you. It’s hard to focus at work, it’s hard not to think about you. I worry all the time about you. Maybe you can come back to California.
Blue and Missing YOU!!
Carrie
My only question on the Secretariat award is… Can you only win it one year in a row? Because if I have it my way..you would get every year! Love you Z.
Shari Voltz
My sweet Zenyatta I will be watching tomorrow. I showed the children the poster of you and Secretariat amd they thought you would have had AWESOME babies. I agree. You so deserve this award and I am glad it is going to you. I love you sweet girl. Can’t wait to see the video of you at Lane’s End. I love watching you run and play. Stay warm :)Love, Hugs and Kisses from Shari in Ohio XXXOOO
