Good Morning,
So many of you have wanted to see more of my surroundings. HRTV will be filming tomorrow…but John took some lovely photos of Lane’s End during his recent visits.
Here is a view from one part of my paddock. I see this daily when I go out and play. There ….enjoying the beautiful grounds…is this lovely sculpture of a BUNNY! There are several pieces like this on the farm. They make everything a bit more ‘fun’ to look at each day. I’d have to say, in my free time, I’m learning to enjoy and appreciate ART as well.
The other interesting part of this is that my dear jockey, MIKIE, has an AUNT (Aunt Nedra) who owns the NEDRA MATTEUCCI GALLERIES in Santa Fe, New Mexico. From what I’ve been told, several of these pieces on the farm were purchased from her gallery during the last several years…long before I resided here.
It always seems to amaze me how ‘the world’ is really so much more closely knit than what one thinks. Here I am at Lane’s End…appreciating the ART pieces that were purchased from a GALLERY owned by my MIKIE’S AUNT. Oh…it is such a small world!
HMMMMM…seems like I am really getting very reflective in my free time! I must say, I think another side of my personality seems to be developing! Too Cute!
I’m off to get ready for tomorrow’s photos/videos. Several of you have asked…the ceremony will take place at 2:30ish PST at Santa Anita. Hope to see you then!
With Love,
Hugs to all~
Z

I’ll be watching tomorrow, wishing I could be there in person but pleased that I can see the ceremony via HRTV from Seattle. great connection, Victoria! Happy new year Zenyatta and Team Z – the year of the rabbit. Sounds like it’s a good year to be in foal, since it’s supposed to be a little more calm time than the year of the Tiger which just ended on Feb 2, more or less.

It would be so cool to have a t-shirt designed with a girly-girl picture of Zenyatta and the caption “Too Cute!” Thanks for the wonderful updates!

I can’t wait for Saturday!! I’m so Proud of you, Queen Zenny for your accomplishments on and off the track. I bet all the young foals are saying to one another, “I want to grow up to be like the Queen, Zenyatta”! Thank You Team Zenyatta and all of Zenny’s Fans, for supporting Horse Rescues. I’m looking forward to seeing Penny Chenery, America’s First Lady of Horse Racing:) God Bless You All!!
Kristen
Imagine my dismay when I discovered that I don’t get HRTV! I thought I did! So, I will be spending time that day with my own horse, hoping to catch a replay of the ceremony (and bonus Zen footage)on the internet afterwards. I did, however, already buy my print from the Santa Anita gift shop online. Have fun, everybody!
Boo
OMG!!!…Someone said, “DOTTIEYATTA!!!! That is “TOO CUTE!!!!”
I’ve made a lot of new friends through YOU Z!!!! You connect people together through our LOVE for you. That’s miraculous!!!
Nothing but LOVE for our girl, and for all of those who love our girl so much!!!!!!

Glad you are enjoying your surroundings. It is nice they recognized you as Horse of the Year…as you are much deserving of that and more. Heres to your first offspring. Now what may that name be? We should start a name contest.
Pattie from Pickens, SC
Is there any chance, Santa Anita might video the Award Ceromony & sell the DVD in the future?? That way all of Zenyatta’s fans will be able to see Team Zenyatta accept the award from Penny Chenery ??
Also, FANS, please make signs saying:
Mario Espenosa – GROOM OF THE YEAR :)
That would make his day!!
Mary Stanford
Yes….Mario is the Groom of the Year…wow….the connection that he and Z had was amazing. I love that picture on post # 71…where it seems Z is asking Mario…just how tall do you think I am. You can see the connection between them. Z was so lucky to have Team Zenyatta by her all the way ….and they are lucky to have Z. The fun that Team Z and Z have brought to fans all over the US and over the world is wonderful…and us fans thank them from our hearts for your dedication and caring for the fans. We also love you Dottie….what would Z and the fans do without you. Thank you for your help to Z. :)

How cute is that, Z?! You’ll have to tell us more about what other nice things you have to look at on the farm. I hope you aren’t being hit with this insane winter storm! I live in Southest Texas and it’s below freezing here! No snow, though, like the weathermen thought we would get. I can’t wait for spring and hopefully being able to come and meet you one day. I will be starting dialysis very soon since I still haven’t found a living donor, but I know that everything is going to be okay. YOU have helped me have hope and reading your diary everyday puts a smile on my face! Have a fun and happy weekend beautiful girl! :)
Julie Ann
Good Morning Zenny and (Dottie) : ) It really is a small world! Imagine that the sculptures around Lane’s End were purchased from Mike’s aunt’s gallery! This is definitely Serendipity! When things like that happen it really does illustrate how we are all “connected” in a myriad of different ways. Must be Zenny, now you DO have some time to reflect on these awe inspiring connections that suddenly appear in life. I’m ready for another big day for YOU and your wonderful team! I’ve got: Map in hand, reservations made, donations for the Zenyatta Ladies’ Lounge to be delivered..and it’s off to Santa Anita early tomorrow morning! Como siempre te mando….ABRAZOTES! Julie Ann
Dani
Oh Bunnies. My facebook profile photo is of my bunny Riley. … What a beautiful, and now we find out, fun place to look around and enjoy different kinds of scenery that I bet you don’t see at other farms. … So excited about tomorrow. Such an incredible honor and from the Matriarch of racing herself, Ms. Chenery. And you and Secretariat are the inspiration. …. I would like to second J Smith’s kind suggestion that those going to Santa Anita bring a small goodie bag of items for the Zenyatta Lounge for Women. I understand that the ladies are really touched to know that people are thinking about them and the items Ms. Smith has suggested are well needed and appreciated. The lounge is a dear project of Mr. and Mrs. Moss and Dottie’s. They have given us so much, it would no doubt make them very happy to know that we fans want to give back a little as well. And don’t forget, even if you aren’t going, you can still send a little care package. I bet that would really brighten up the ladies’ days. … So Zenny, we will all be glued to the big screen at the track or to our televisions or to our computers to see HRTV’s feature on you. At long last we will see you like we use to – on a bigger screen – just like the old days. I can’t wait to see your coat and see how you’ve filled out and see up close that beautiful and perfect face of yours. And if you can, see if the cameraman can get a close up of your best friend Pirate Queen. She looks like such a sweet heart. Have fun romping around for the camera. We’re going to love every second of it. … Back to work for me. Hurry up tomorrow!!
Victoria
I can’t wait until you have your first baby, I bet it’ll be the most gorgeous foal even born! Well, the most gorgeous next to you. The Bunny Statue is really cute as well.
Lauren
Dear Zenny – It is so nice to hear that you have such beautiful surroundings by you. It seems that you are in a happy place. I loved your latest video of you kissing the woman’s face. You are just an angel. Good luck with your award tomorrow. You deserve it. You are a treasure. There, I just thought of another name for your foal – Treasure of Zen. Hugs and Kisses beautiful Girl!!
Cynthia Ann Holt
A totally awesome bun-bun! Have I got just the right spot in the garden for him!
You belong amongst all of this beauty, Zenyatta, and all of these works of art. You are a living, breathing, moving, dancing piece of art yourself. One of God’s greatest one-offs!
Lauren
One more post – you can sign on the HRTV site and they have live stream supposedly – so maybe they will have live stream of the award ceremony on. Just a thought.
Sandra Ryan
It must be some kind of “racing” bunny.
You are Horse of my Heart!

Congratulations to Zenyatta and her family on the Secretariat Award. I am so glad that her amazing sweetness and temperment are being rewarded. This award is also a reflection of John’s philosophy of allowing people to get close to her. To all her connections: you have shown the other owner/trainers the way. Let’s hope they follow suit. It could transform horse racing. Since I don’t get HRTV, I am hoping that someone posts a video:).
Jan Mitchell
Wow…you’re becoming so “zen” Lady Z! Unfortunately HRTV is not available in my neighborhood, so hopefully … I’m sure of it… a bunch of folks will be posting video and pix of the event.
