Good Morning,
It is so hard to believe that it is already FEBRUARY. I understand…per GROUNDHOG LEGEND…this morning indicated that SPRING WILL COME SOON. That sounds great to me!
February is also a MONTH to celebrate LOVE and relationships! It is so much fun to reflect on all of the people who have been so special in my life! It is exciting to contemplate the next several weeks and the ‘new experiences’ I will have as well!
This Saturday, as you know, I’m celebrating the SECRETARIAT AWARD at Santa Anita. (Chris Crocker at the Santa Anita gift shop emailed Dottie and told her “all of my fans have had their fingers flying over their keyboards ordering the posters”.) You guys are too cute!
Later on, sometime later in February, I’ll be meeting with BERNARDINI. As you know, MY TEAM has selected him as the sire for my first foal. The exact timing of this depends on MY system….and how I’m doing with my ovulating and all of that GIRLY GIRL stuff.
Earlier this week, Darley did a wonderful video on BERNARDINI…introducing him to the fans, a view of his home, and the pedigree aspects in relation to our mating. It is on the BLOODHORSE SITE…and they really did a terrific job! From what I can see, HE is a really strong, good-looking stallion. I can’t wait to meet him!
Click here to watch a video on Bernardini!
What a LUCKY HORSE I AM! I know I have accomplished a great deal in my own life and career…but to be associated with SECRETARIAT and being shown with him in a poster entitled…RACING ROYALTY…and then to have BERNARDINI be the sire of my first foal is all very exciting to me! I have some FABULOUS HORSES in my life! What a thrill!
February…is starting out to be a month filled with LOTS OF HOPE, LOVE, and POSSIBILITIES! It is so much fun to just stand out in the paddock, look at this beautiful environment and ponder all of the great things to come!
May you be blessed with a wonderful, hopeful and loving FEBRUARY as well!
With love,
Hugs to all~
Z

Linda B,

If you’re speaking of Lindy Farms, they didn’t ALL get out safe. Two mares tragically died in that accident. The amazing Moni Maker (very much a Zenyatta of her breed) did thankfully survive.

@ Jacalyn & J Smith…I love the idea of an on-line baby(foal) registry/shower…that is if Ann Moss agrees. That would be awesome for her to make a list of things…how much fun!

NOPE WRONG ONE BUT THAT IS SAD ABOUT THE LOSS Fourteen horses were trapped inside a barn in Bethany, CT after the roof collapsed due to heavy snow.

Z! This is a very special post from you. I am so grateful you have such a good life and February will bring you excitement and joy!! I saw the Bernadini video. There are similarities between you two; gorgeous!!and a special something-manerism & motion I guess. I do hope you pass on your white blaze I love so much because he has none. (Just picky me!) I decided to call the gift shop at Santaanita to place my order and had the privilege to speak with Chris Crocker. She spoke with such excitement with the upcoming Award for you and we had an enjoyable conversation. Her sister lives here in Wi. (small world) I just wish I could travel there to meet your owners & team, and dear Mrs. Chenery. I do miss you so Zen. Love to see more video of you. Hope & happiness to all your Z team.
love n a kiss on your soft nose

@ ensign
Do you have a therapist I can recommend on in your area.
Lauren
@ JSmith, thank you =) Im hoping so

Here is an article about the unwanted horses. This article in no way represents my thoughts or feelings on the subject so don’t get on me about it. I just posted it to add to the discussion about horse slaughter. It is a study by some college kids and there are numerous facts to ponder over.

Everyone needs to check out the video (Tango) of Z, on her facebook page.

Linda B,
.
I was about to thank you for the link and then read your 2nd post.
.
WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? Are you sick? Or are simply trying to graduate to internet TROLL?
Mary
Zenyatta, Would you be able to make prints of your “hoof print”, either with or without a shoe, to sell as posters to those of your fans not able to afford a Moneigh? Hugs and Prayers
Linda B
@ensign
You always take the dark side of things . Life is dark enough. Zenyatta is light, love, peace.Just do not respond to my posts ok. In a previous post I stated lets just agree to disagree and move on .
ENSIGN
Linda B,
.
Dark side of things??
.
I’m happy to not reply to your posts. I didn’t answer your question about ‘pre-natal viatamins’ and such.
.
If you truly want me to ignore you though, don’t post snarky things about recommending a therapist ‘in my area’. Perhaps you could recommend one in Virginia Beach?
.
Btw. Zenyatta is a horse. She may know light love and peace, but she’s a horse.
Lisa g
Ms Zenyatta, Mr B. is absolutely handsome (almost worthy). I knew he had some moves, and you can easily teach him The Zenyatta dance. I think that the Bernyatta is the Power Couple name, not the name the article wished to name your baby. For your baby, I do hope your adoptive parents do what they always have done…an individual name..like yours. I love ya, Girl. I love ya..Lisa g

@ENSIGN
Just leave me alone please. However your own comments speak for themselves. She may be just a horse but she shows more character than some humans like you.
Lisa g
Ms Zenyatta, I watched your “Tango” video, you are so loving and affectionate. Like I said before, you are changing the world…Not just for horses, but for us humans…love, peace, caring, and unselfish….You are not just a horse, you are a blessing to us all. Lisa g

Cut out the PERSONAL jabs Linda B & I’m happy to comply with your wish.

@Linda B–why post to@Ensign?????????
Kim
Can we see a video of Zenyatta meeting with Bernadini? He’s so stately, didn’t seem too fun until he started those prancing moves. It would be lovely to see them enjoying some hoofsteps (or just spending time) together.
Lisa g
@Kim, that is what I am hoping for. I cannot believe he has some moves as well. Great pick from the Z Team.
ENSIGN
I don’t think their meeting would be
‘PG friendly’ ladies. They’ll only be spending a few moments together and I doubt the Moss’ would share that with her fans, but who knows….maybe they’ll surprise you :-) I can’t speak for them so you just never know. They may share some photos perhaps?
Gary Moulton
I watched the “Tango” video and the first thing I saw was I’ve never seen her ears so floppy. She is changing right in front of our very eyes. Even when the girl kisses at her the ears don’t move. They don’t respond to any questions. Only a few times when she looks to her right do they work together. What does everyone else think about what her ears have to say?
Donna
@ Linda B
What is your problem with Ensign?
I do not understand what was said for you to make such a sarcastic comment like that about a therapist.
Am I missing something?
Please enlighten me!!!!!

@Ensign: I read more than comment on this thread, but have enjoyed your informative post. Even though there have been other instances of posters ‘inside posting voices’ ;) going astray, It’s always settled down and things move on….. I think this is a little different. The individual in question has taken this to a different level which troubles me. I wouldn’t categorize this person as a troll/flamer(i may be wrong), but perhaps something else…..

******A formal request to those that manage this board. I ask that the individual that continues to personalize/attack anything that comes from Ensign, be warned or be removed from this site. This has now gone beyond a little squabble. The poster in question has now become a distraction from what is good about this site and obviously has some underlying issues when it comes to Ensign AND is incapable of ‘moving on.’

Thank you.

@Donna
Go back to post Diary Post #69. There are (unexplained) issues here when it comes to Linda B.
Sharon Call
I just watched the altest video on Z’s facebook page. Lucky, lucky Sarah. I’d love to be the one that gets those Z kisses. I’m really happy that Z is not racing anymore. 3 years is long enough and, as has been said so many times, she retired healthy and sound. Now she has the best of both worlds. She gets to be a horse with her “herd” and can graze and kick up her heels when she feels like it and gets the human attention that she so loves, as well. I had my reservations when she first went to Lane’s End but I’m so happy to say that now I think she’s in an extremely good place with people taking excellent care of her, body, soul and mind. As John Sheriffs said so many times, “She’s happy and that’s what we want”. She won’t race again and that’s a good thing. She won’t be ridden again and that’s not so bad either. She won’t be over-bred and when her time as a broodmare comes to an end, she will be taken care of properly. The Sheriffs and Mosses won’t let it be any other way and neither will her fans. She has brought new and positive attention to the racing world and that was badly needed. Perhaps this will open a new era for TB race horses. Perhaps this extra attention will slowly put an end to the Alydars and Dyna Kings and their sad, sad stories. I’m sure this will take time and perhaps I won’t see it to a great degree in my lifetime but I would very much like to see more and more attention paid to the OTTBs and their fates. This website has done a lot to further this effort thanks to Dottie, John, Jerry and Anne and everyone else that contributes to it. The Mosses seem to take every chance they can get to talk about the organizations that help these horses that don’t earn money any more. That is how it should be. These are living creatures and should be treated as such, not just as money-winning commodities. In my perfect world, 2 year olds wouldn’t be raced at all – it’s just too young. I’d love to see the Triple Crown moved to later in the year to allow these young horses to mature more to stand up to the stress that is needed to run at those speeds and those distances. Perhaps then we wouldn’t see as many of the Barbaros and Eight Belles and all of the others that don’t make the news. But that’s in MY perfect world and it’s not likely to happen. At least we have Z who wasn’t run early in her 3rd year and campaigned successfully for 3 years. Oh well, if I’m going to dream of a better world, why not start here.
Karey
Could someone please post the link to the tango video in which Zenyatta’s ears are
floppier than usual? Gary Moulton mentions it three posts up. Thanks!
Karey
Oops, now it’s five posts up.
Kathy Kimber
Dear Lady Z, the Bernadini Video is terrific. He is so graceful you will make a lovely couple. Be sure to get your hair done and your hooves polished and wear a touch of blue. He is going to be so impressed. Love you sweet lady
Karey
Sharon Call: I agree with what you said about having reservations about some TB racing practices. It’s SO hard on the horses, and obviously very dangerous for them.
Do the animal lovers among us just overlook the abusive aspects of horseracing? Maybe someone here can help me understand. Even with the love the Mosses have for Zenyatta, there was relief when her ovaries were found to be functional after taking all the pounding of training and racing. It broke my heart to learn, in the ‘message beneath the message’ in this report, that horses can be forced into a sport that threatens the viability of their bodies, inside and out. Again, I’d love to be educated out of my impression.
Robyn Mullhausen
Oh my, Zenny, Bernardini is just gorgeous and has lots going for him besides good looks…just what you’d want in a mate. ;) Nothing but the best for you. Happy Valentine’s Day to you and Bernardini. You look so beautiful in your “fur coat” against all that snow.
