Good Morning,
It is so hard to believe that it is already FEBRUARY. I understand…per GROUNDHOG LEGEND…this morning indicated that SPRING WILL COME SOON. That sounds great to me!
February is also a MONTH to celebrate LOVE and relationships! It is so much fun to reflect on all of the people who have been so special in my life! It is exciting to contemplate the next several weeks and the ‘new experiences’ I will have as well!
This Saturday, as you know, I’m celebrating the SECRETARIAT AWARD at Santa Anita. (Chris Crocker at the Santa Anita gift shop emailed Dottie and told her “all of my fans have had their fingers flying over their keyboards ordering the posters”.) You guys are too cute!
Later on, sometime later in February, I’ll be meeting with BERNARDINI. As you know, MY TEAM has selected him as the sire for my first foal. The exact timing of this depends on MY system….and how I’m doing with my ovulating and all of that GIRLY GIRL stuff.
Earlier this week, Darley did a wonderful video on BERNARDINI…introducing him to the fans, a view of his home, and the pedigree aspects in relation to our mating. It is on the BLOODHORSE SITE…and they really did a terrific job! From what I can see, HE is a really strong, good-looking stallion. I can’t wait to meet him!
Click here to watch a video on Bernardini!
What a LUCKY HORSE I AM! I know I have accomplished a great deal in my own life and career…but to be associated with SECRETARIAT and being shown with him in a poster entitled…RACING ROYALTY…and then to have BERNARDINI be the sire of my first foal is all very exciting to me! I have some FABULOUS HORSES in my life! What a thrill!
February…is starting out to be a month filled with LOTS OF HOPE, LOVE, and POSSIBILITIES! It is so much fun to just stand out in the paddock, look at this beautiful environment and ponder all of the great things to come!
May you be blessed with a wonderful, hopeful and loving FEBRUARY as well!
With love,
Hugs to all~

@ Jim, I just read a twitter message on the website alexbrownracing that all 52 horses were rescued. Also check Mike Smith’s facebook page. A lot of people were talking about it there today.

@j. smith thank you

Janice Lavrich Mike: Contact Lynn Boggs via Facebook. She is Doc’s lifelong friend. She orchestrated the entire process of getting each and every horse a home. A lot of trainers/owners stepped up and took some, along with some rescues. I went to the wake, my Mom has been friends with her for 25 years. She’s be THRILLED to hear that you are involved!

I ordered the poster of Secretariat and You and can’t wait till I can hang it with all my other pics. The video of Bernardini was very interesting and he is a handsome sire. I’ll be watching the awards on Saturday…what an exciting day!

I am happy for Zen as well as a little wistful. Just as Jerry Moss said, I guess this means Zenyatta is really done racing.
Maryann
So when you meet him are you going to call him “Bernie”? I think “Racing Royalty” is a fitting title for your poster and also for your first foal.
Hugs and kisses to you and your team.

Dear “Z” ~ I loved that video of Bernardini ~ your team could NOT have chosen a better sire for your foal ~ unless AP Indy was a little younger, I think because he is 22 yrs old they decided on his BEST son !!! You two have a lot in common as far as quality ~ he is a classy horse also, just like yourself ~ if your foal receives a mixture of your genes and Bernardini’s genes, then we can’t ask for anything more ~ you both have fantastic bloodlines ~ pure blue bloods all the way !!! Hope your timing is right for Valentine’s Day ~ great day to mate for that LOVE foal !!! :)
Dottie Combest
p.s. we’ve been calling your future foal “Zendini” for now !!! Don’t like Bernyatta ~ that sounds toooooo weird !
Cora Lynne
I hope the mating game goes well with Bernardini. I wish you well beautiful Zenyatta.
Joyce
Sweet Z, hope you are keeping well and warm in this continuing cold spell. Thanks to your Team Z connections, as I’m sure they helped make the Santa Anita poster and lithograph available to those of us who can’t get to Santa Anita on Saturday. So sorry to miss your celebration in person, but I’ll be there in spirit, along with so many of your cheering subjects. Sleep well tonight and all nights sweet one. Know that you are in our hearts.
Joyce
P.S. I agree with an earlier post on the suggested name for your baby, Zendini has a much better ring to it than Bernyatta (which sounds too much like an earlier but I believe much less accomplished couple). Plus, I would really like to see a name beginning with “Z” which could begin a continuing tradition of carrying on such an important part of your name.

Dear Queen-Z & Team-Z,
As I’m writing this, in So.Cal. where it is 46*F, I see that your temp. is 16*F (at 6AM)!!! BURRRRRRRR!!!!
Thanks for this entry to Diary-Z. It’s much appreciated. I’m looking forward to Saturday at Santa Anita, and seeing Penny Chenery and your CA Love-ones. It will be a beautiful Day…but I’ll be missing YOU…Zenny!!
Stay warm and well. Hugs to all. Fondly, OraJean

Nice video on your chosen Z! Bernardini is as handsome as you are beautiful! Can’t wait to see your gorgeous offspring!
Gloria K.
Can’t wait for this Zen-Bern (ZenBorn) foul!
Debbie
Dear Sweet Zenyatta. Everyone should watch the video of your Bernardini-he dances too! I wonder if Team Zenyatta knew that when choosing him. Your foal is going to be beautiful, fast and dancing to the beat. What a great choice!
Stephanie Quilichini
I love that Bernardini has a little dance in him too!

Let’s hope that Bernardini is suave and sophisticated, and comes courting with a dozen red roses, a bottle of Guinness, and a heart shaped box of peppermints!
Kathy S.
Zenny, congratulations on such a handsome beau! Can’t wait to see the beautiful babies you two will make! Also I’m imagining you and your beau on video together with “Bella Notte” from Lady and the Tramp playing in the background!!! It doesn’t get any more romantic than that…
Celeste
Thank you for another wonderful message and beautiful photo! These past couple of days, that snowy, cold scene could be right here in Texas, too and I’m not as brave as Zenyatta to get out in the middle of it. Brrrrrrr!!
Pattie from Pickens, SC
Those that would like to see an AWESOME video of Secretariat on You Tube, check this out: SECRETARIAT – Running From Within
Also, how about naming Zenny’s foal: Zen’s Royal Dancer ?? After all Bernie knows a few dance steps himself:)

@Ensign–thanks so much for the update on LIS.
@Jacalyn–great idea–what fun!
Queen Z–your Bernardini is the most adorable and engaging of suitors. Yours will be the most-anticipated baby in history (equine history).
@Dawn Conrad–thanks for the added info. from Chris. She was quite busy with orders when I e-mailed her.
Karen
I can’t wait to see what the little “Zendini” looks like. Pure magic!
Peggy from CT
Would it be possible to add a page to this web site dedicated to listing names for Zenyatta’s new foal?…Like a book of baby names. It would be fun to see everyone’s creative choices all in one place.
Lauren
Dear Zenny – I think two perfect names would be Miracle of Zen or Joy of Zen. You are a beautful girl.
Love and Kisses
Lauren
Zenyatta!
Yesterday was truly a horrible day for me =( ..But I sat in my bed and started thinking about names for your future foal and it made me feel so much better!! Its different but very creative, atleast I think so lol =)
BernAndZenSome
or
BernNZenSome
“burn and then some”
Pretty much that little foal of yours is gong to burn them all on the racetrack!
However you want to spell it, I just really love this name!
Thank you!
Lauren
J Smith
@ Lauren, I like that, it is creative, and I didn’t think of ‘Bern’ as burning them up on the race track. U r due for a better day today for thinking that one up.
Ellen
He is a beautiful horse, and I love the prance step. I think you are both going to make a wonderful couple!
Tamyatta
Hi my beauty. I have to tell you that I have watched Mr. B’s video 30 times and I love him a little more each time. Your team came thru like we knew they would. He’s just gorgeous…almost as gorgeous as you:) My team is calling your baby “Zenyatta’s First” because that’s what we would always yell after you won every race..LOL..It has your beautiful name and there will never be a doubt in anyone’s mind who your first baby was. I have been so worried about you in that freezing, icy, snowy, KY and right now as I type this we are waiting for snow, ice and sleet to hit us….IN TEXAS!! Can u believe that?? We can’t! I’m staying warm and comfy in front of my computer watching your races…one of my favorite pastimes. I can’t wait til Sat when u get honored by Secretariat’s mom. WOW! I’m hinting to my hubby about a poster for my Valentines present. Wish me luck! Stay warm my beautiful girl. Always loving you:)
Linda B
Zen,
Just read of a horse rescue in CT when a barn collapsed under snow. The community came together and got ALL the horses out safe. I know that the horse community sticks together and you have brought more into that community. Thank you Queen Z
