Good Morning,
At this time, many of you have read the Moss’ have announced my MATING PLANS for this year! I will be going to BERNARDINI! I asked John to find this photo of me from his BARN 55 files…it is a few months old. I really did KICK UP MY HEELS here at the farm upon hearing the news that all had been finalized and announced. This is very exciting!
Not only are we a wonderful match genetically…we complement each other in many other aspects. Additionally, and this is a sidebar to all of the other great reasons we are a match, Dottie was teasing me this morning that BOTH of us have MOMS who have been recognized in the industry as “BROODMARE OF THE YEAR”. This is a very special fact that I want to keep in my memory bank. I hope I continue this tradition…as my future babies grow up!
I love all of the INTERNET activity that is going on now! There are even forums and contests for NAMING MY BABY! I LOVE THIS! Darley (which is BERNARDINI’S HOME) did a press release as well about our future plans. I have to comment…I love the fact that in HIS photo “B” is wearing a BLUE AND WHITE BROWBAND…just like I have in some of my photos. (I guess we even have the same sense of style and taste in accessories. This is certainly very cute!)
There is another article out now by Andrew Cohen that literally has me ‘giggling’ this morning. It is titled: BERNYATTA: THE WORLD’S NEWEST POWER COUPLE. Here is the link for it!
This is really very cute. THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT ME! Wow! I hope the storyline presented starts your day with a SMILE! It sure did that for ME!
With Love~
Hugs to ALL!
Z
and in respect to my recent mating announcement……”B”

Ms Zenyatta, A very good morning to you. The names are everywhere, hopefully, an independent name such as yours…I do like Renata, and has a little of your name in it. Have you set the date for your first date yet…waiting in anticipation for the ‘girl talk’. Hope he brings you flowers, carrotts and peppermints…Have a wonderful day Beautiful, Big girl…Lisa g

Dear Queen Z,
Congratulations! Here’s wishing you a beautiful little foal to love and cherish. No doubt he or she will run like the wind. How could it not with the winning lessons you’ll be able to teach it? :)
Love you, dear Z, have a happy day with the girls,
Stel
Mary McCurdy
If the foal is a filly I like Bernazetta and if it is a stud colt Zendini. I hope you have a healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy. I can’t even imagine how much grain you will be eating. Take your vitamins.
Barbara Wood
I have a question for those of you who know: IF (and I say “if” because we don’t know for sure) A.P.’s fertility is diminished, wouldn’t that be reflected in lower stud fees? Just wondering. My thinking is that if fees rise because of proven performance, then wouldn’t they be lowered if the reverse is true? Thanks to anyone who knows.
Alexandra Bowdoin
Good Morning Queen Z,
Filly, Secret Journey and for a Colt, Demolition Man or Omegaman from Police Albums. The Mosses like to pick names from
the Music Industry and so far names from
the Police have really worked well!! Have a Great Day Team’s Z.
Heather Myers
Your Diary ALWAYS makes me smile, Zenny!
ENSIGN
@ Barbara Wood,
.
Indy’s fee was already announced for the season. If he breeds a mare and she doesn’t conceive, there is no stud fee owed. Most work on a ‘stands and nurses’ basis, meaning most stud fees are not paid until the mare delivers a healthy foal.
.
Indy may just end up being bred to a few shareholder mares this season. Many breeders wouldn’t want to risk having a later foal if their mare were bred to Indy, failed to catch and then had to switch to another stallion. On the other hand, many would also obviously be interested in having a foal from what will probably be his final crop. Good money in final crop yearlings ;-)
Barbara Wood
Thanks, Ensign. Knew about the LFSN, but I had not thought it through concerning you second paragraph comments. I guess I was just figuring that they would do the fertility tests before announcing fees. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us, especially when we start to go off the rails–lol!
Astrid
Good morning Zenyatta! What exciting news for you! Dottie is so sweet to keep us updated. The world’s newest power couple -absolutely!! Never cared about anyone else LOL
Zenny, I am sure you and your family will pick the perfect name for the little future foal – suiting his/hers personality and I am positive the Moss’s also will make sure your privacy regarding your ‘wedding date’ and foaling will be respected. They have always made the best decisions for you – I would never doubt them and they truly know your needs.
Meanhwile, sweet Zenny, you don’t mind us playing and having a bit of fun picking names for your foal, do you?:) The only thing what matters that you and little baby Z will be healthy. Pretty soon time to take extra vitamins! If I may say, I hope your veggies and fruit are all organic:) Only the best for you! Our dogs get them too. x0x0
Timmy Todd M.A,
Hi Baby Girl……Good Morning Zenny,,,,It’s Friday,,,,That always was the best day at Barn 55…..Stevie would winde ya up, Mr. John was in his element….Dottie always around the precedings…..and you,,,You,,,,,YOU! Remember prancing on the soft track and H-park,,,,and looking around at the airplanes and birds… We know your having fun back there but the whole place misses you….. The queen of racing is such a formidable presence on a racing farm/track/oval… You made every other horse on grounds better…Just being there and sharing the track and facilities with them….. Very happy about your new beau…… You
ll look gorgeous together… and your little girl will be lovely just like you….I called it first, it will be a filly and her name(might be), Zenchronicity….Just a hypothosis….But not bad for a first outing….Right up there with an amusement park called Zenyatta World…..:) I’d say! Good Morning Sunshine,,,,the world says HELLO!
Prof Timmy
Jenna
Good morning! Cannot wait for today’s diary update.
My thoughts on a name: Mr. Moss will likely pull a name out of his music catalog (he’s been very lucky with Sting and the Police). It’d be nice if he took it out of the Alpert years (loved him!). Maybe:
TasteOfHoney :)
Thank you, Dottie!! TGIF!
Robbie Pfeufer Kahn
To CARRIE: My apologies! I can see that people are having a great deal of fun thinking up names. It’s for the Moss’s to decide how the foal will be named.
To KATHRYN: Thanks for the breathing advice. I did sound directive–it was late, but still. I do think that my ideas about privacy aligned with yours and Ls. You two expressed the opinion with more grace. RPK

Hi Queen Z,
WOW Mr B huh? What a hunk. His kids are doing pretty good on the track so far-checked them out online, not bad for a young stallion, you will be a gift to him and his bloodline.
When you see your new beau you might get a glimpse of your Dad, Street Cry. He lives over at Darley too. Awesome blood lines and a good cross. Mike better get a pilots license to ride a Zenyatta/Bernardini colt or filly!!!
I remember when your beau had just retired from the track, Shiek Mo was always insisting Bernardini was the best on the track and what a great sire he will be! Wow, Shiek Mo boasting about your new beau. He knows his horses!
Tell Charles to keep the carrots and oats handy when you get the pregy munchies!!Alfalfa just doesn’t cut it when ya get the prego muchies. Don’t forget the momma vitamins too!!
Have a good day dreaming about your B.
Love and nose kisses, Joyce.
Roseann
Good Morning Z & All :)
Congrats all round! How exciting to have all of this to look forward to and beyond! Your very first baby!!
Like many of the other fans, I prefer ZENDINI to BERNYATTA. After all, especially in the south, it is LADIES first.
Have a great day and make sure Charles gives you extra carrots and loving from all of us.

Lauren
Dear Zenny – I had thought of another name for you and B’s foal. How about Beau Chaval. That is French for Beautiful Horse.
Kristen
I love the name Zendini, but also just thought about how un.be.lieeeeeeeev.able Zen is, how about
-BelieveIt
OR
-Doyoubelieveinmiracles
I wonder if they will name the horse right away or wait until they know whether it will go to the track. They didn’t name Zen until after they noticed other horses needed two strides for every one she took!

Hi Lady Z,
Took a browse at AP Indy’s facebook page, He’s so proud to be GrandDad to the little prince/princess-to be. He was praising His Son on being chosen, how’s that for approval! Has anyone told your mom (horse), Life is Sweet, or your galpals at Barn55 yet? My scrapbook of you is getting plenty full, gonna have to start a new one pretty soon. The baby/foal is most definitely gonna have his very own ‘babybook’! Tell Charles that your gonna need some sweet potatoes and pears too, don’t want him to have to get up in the middle of the night, to find an all-night grocery store (hee-hee)! If Slew and Big Red where here today (who knows, maybe their up in heaven doing just that), they would be grinning from ear to ear and giving each other hoof-fives! By the by, will it be okay if lil sis (Ebbie) uses your stall when she gets to the track? She can keep it comfy and cozy til the baby’s ready for it! I’m soooo happy for you, and wish you all the love that your hooves and heart can hold. Whether this baby/foal becomes a Superhorse or not, he/she will most definitely be well loved. Sweet dreams and peppermint kisses MiLady!

Hi My Beautiful Z. Congratulations on knowing who is going to be your mate. I can’t wait to hear about your first date.
I agree with everyone, your name should come first, your are the Queen and ladies do come first. Whatever they decide your baby will be named, I’m sure it will be great like you are. What an honor for Bernardini to have you as his girlfriend, he is the lucky one. Love you lots and have fun.
Bye for now, XOXOXOXO:)
Carolyn Caswell-Brown
Zenyatta + Bernardini = ? : Bernardini + Vertigineaux = Eblouissante: Sisters, Mothers, Husbands: This all sounds VERY FRENCH to me . . . . .or maybe it’s Chinatown

Good Morning, Zenny:
I know the Moss’s will select a perfect name for your first foal but us fans are having such fun with the naming contest. A good diversion to pass the time until the blessed event occurs. How about:
“ZENBER’S MONEIGH?”
Have another fantastic day at Lane’s End with your posse.
Hugs & nose kisses.

Robbie: You took up the slack on an earlier note; perhaps Carrie only read that, not mine. We are in the experiment of the blind-folded describing an elephant, with not all seeing or feeling the same things the same ways. Still, this is one of the happiest places on the internet, and a goal such as Jerry Moss described John Shirreffs` barn, ‘ .. . not a bad vibe in the house.’ Usually .. . we all only want the best for ‘Z’ & her loved ones. . .. Kc. [For fun, see “Five Minutes With… John Shirreffs,” Thoroughbred Times, Thursday, JAN., 27, 2011, http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/national-news/2011/01/five-minutes-john-shirreffs.aspx We better pace ourselves, fever-pitch is hard on the body politic. Carolyn Caswell-Brown: ‘Chinatown.’ .. . As a name. . .. Love it!

Ms Zenyatta, hoping that you are having a wonderful day. Waiting for your next post, hoping the date of the big event will be posted. Peak in again later to keep up…I love ya, Beautiful…Lisa g

Not too fond of Berndini, but do like Zendini. How about Yattadini? Seems
like the Mosses go for 1 name names.
You want it to be a name that the race announcer can play with and draw it out.
Like the Santa Anita track announcer. Loved to hear him call your races Zenyatta. He even drew out U N B EEEEE LEEEEEEVE ABLE.
Never will i ever forget your class, personality and style. Wow. Amazing.

To KATHRYN: Thank you so much for your generous words. I loved these “We are in the experiment of the blind-folded describing an elephant, with not all seeing or feeling the same things the same ways. Still, this is one of the happiest places on the internet, and a goal such as Jerry Moss described John Shirreffs` barn, ‘ .. . not a bad vibe in the house.’
I agree that usually the the posts here are congenial, educational, and full of spirit.
We do all love Zenyatta and her unusual human family. They set a remarkable example of what care of a professional horse or any horse can be and what it means to treat fans kindly and to let them enjoy some of Zenyatta’s life and of their own lives as well.
We certainly are united in wanting the best for all concerned, including now “B,” and the offspring to come.
Thanks again!–Robbie
Kristen
@Carolyn Caswell-Brown, I was thinking today it’s a good thing we’re talking about horses, because if we were talking about people, this would be the Jerry Springer show! I’m just teasing, of course. No one has more class than the Mosses and Team Zenyatta, I was just thinking how Zen’s half-sister is the daughter of her first boyfriend. I even felt bad saying the name Jerry Springer in the same breath as Zenyatta. I promise I won’t do it again!!!
PerkyGreen
How about Zendini Heir for a colt & Zendini Heiress for a filly, just a thought. Can’t wait to see this foal. Let us know when the big day comes for your encounter with MrB.Thanks again Dotty for your time and energiess to keeping us posted. Have a wonderful day all LOTS”O”LOVE Baby Girl
Sue
Zenny, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. I think Bernardini is a great match for you. Please give us a chance to help name your baby. I am all for naming him or her with the letters in your name at the beginning. After all, you are the QUEEN! So, something like Zendini, whether male or female, would be great :)
Zen-Fan
First, I want to say, excellent choice in Bernardini! I hope this does not come out negative because it is not meant that way…but here is a name for your first foal…
ZENZ REVENGE!
XOXO
Jack Wolferseder
VERY IMPORTANT…Yesterday on ESPN’s, PTI program co host Mike Wilbon made an extremely disparaging remark about Zenyatta when Tony Kornheiser mentioned the breeding announcement. Wilbon is NOT a racing fan that is known, but to say what he said is despecible. I urge all of you to contact ESPN and voice your displeasure at this callous comment. His jab at Zenyatta is as insensitive as any remark that has ever been made over the airways or in print and he should be disciplined accordingly!!! Do not give HIM or ESPN a pass on this!!!!
