Good Morning,
While we are out in the field, relaxing, I always like to share a bit of ‘GIRL TALK’ with my friends. I spent some time yesterday afternoon visiting with them about their ‘personal plans’. I was wondering if their families had reviewed their breeding options with them like mine did with me.
We all have our thoughts…and obviously our pedigrees, body types, and personal histories are very different…so these factors do significantly influence WHO we can DATE! It is kinda’ fun to be chit-chatting about all of this with my friends. We are MAIDEN MARES. That is the term for mares who have not been bred before….so we have TONS to talk about with each other.
At Barn 55, while out grazing, we talked about staying fit, our training programs, our races, and all of the various fun projects we were involved in each day! NOW….the conversations are so different. At this time, it is my GIRLY-GIRL side that is really coming to the fore-front! I am truthfully so feminine at heart…and I’m having fun developing this side of my personality as well.
It is interesting how we go through different STAGES in our life. I’ve been a weanling, yearling, racehorse (HORSE OF THE YEAR…a real WOW…if I say so myself—-BLUSH, BLUSH), and now I’m going to be a broodmare. A MOM!!! This is so exciting! Once I get this under control…what will be next???? I just LOVE THINKING ABOUT MY FUTURE and ALL THAT IT HOLDS!
Some of you have asked, what is John’s favorite name for me? IT IS ZENNY. John always calls me this. It is always expressed in such a loving tone…and definitely meant to be a TERM OF ENDEARMENT!
Off to play and chit-chat with my friends and discuss lots and lots of GIRL STUFF!! We are having FUN!
With Love,
HUGS TO ALL~

Thanks for the beautiful photo of the girl talk in the paddock! As always, it is so endearing and heart touching to see our Queen with her friends in her new life situation. I’n thrilled to see that a sire has been chosen, but I guess I am a bit surprised that one of the stallions there at Lane’s End was not picked. Bernardini is doing very well so far as a young stallion and he has such excellent bloodlines, I am sure the foal will be incredible, but of course, in my mind it will be all because of Zenyatta!

Girl talk, I love it.

Zenny and Bernie! I love it! Are you going to have personalized towels with your initials on them? Bernie’s going to need a step ladder, but he’ll figure it out! So happy for you Zenny. I bet David had a lot of input into this decision. He knows what he’s doing!

Oh Z!! Thank you for this post!! I guess it is another stage in your life to date & become a mom. I love my two children though much older now; at least you won’t be giving in to a males life as you won’t spend 42 years with him. ha ha ha I will be so happy when everything goes fine & you have a beautiful foal; that both of you are healthy. Bernadini is the son from AP Indy and there are great bloodlines from mom & dad. We all will be delighted to follow his/her career. I drove by while we were at Keeneland to see you and took a picture of Darley Farms. It will be a beautiful encounter there. Keep it warm & turn down the lights. Love & a kiss to your nose

Zenny has a boyfriend, Zenny has a boyfriend!!!!! Woohooo!! He’s HANDSOME!!!! I am sooo excited for you becoming a MOM!!!!! GOOD FOR YOU, you have been a DREAM for us, now go live your dreams. God Bless you, Zenyatta
Janet
I heard the news about your date with Bernardini. He’s very handsome. Hope all goes well when you meet him for the first time. Meanwhile, enjoy your time with the girls. We are thinking of you and wishing you only the best of what life has in store for you.
The Kennedys in San Diego
Darley and Sheik Mohammed were promoting Bernardini when we visited the farm in November, but then each of the farms we visited had the “perfect” stallion for Zenyatta. As we recall, Claiborne touted Pulpit, WinStar — Tiznow; Shadwell — Invasor.
Bernardini’s height is listed at 16.1 1/2 in the Blood-Horse Stallion Register.
harold
what a choice, just great. PERFECT MATCH!!!
Joan
@ Selena I too had wondered about Galalio(sp)but they no longer ship him for stud
and I am sure they weren’t going to ship Z. Can anyone tell me, will they move her to Darley or will Big B go to LE? If she is at Darley will they keep her until they confirm she is with foal? She just got use to LE, the people and her routine, I hate to see that disrupted, but they are the experts not me. Whatever the routine, that is going to be one good looking foal. Love you Z.
Susan
I have been to Darly a number of times and Bernardini is a handsome guy-and he is the top Freshman sire for 2010 so you guys make the perfect couple. I bet Your family will send you a picture that you can hang in your apartment.
When you visit him, make sure you say hello to your dad. I know he knows all about your accomplishments, but I bet he would love to visit with you.
Congratulations Zenny. This is a very cool new chapter.

I’m sure Dottie and Anne had the talk about the birds and the bees with you!!!!

To the KENNEDY’S: Thank you for giving us Bernardini’s height. I expected that she’d be taller that he is.
To ZENYATTAI looked at some Google images of Bernardini and he’s certainly a handsome fellow. In two photos he seemed to prance in a dressage manner, just like you. Your foal may be a Grand Prix dressage horse as well as a race horse! Robbie

Hi Zenyatta. We were so thrilled to see your first date will be with Bernardini. I have been privileged to see him race in New York. He is quite handsome, very talented and has a great pedigree. He is so lucky to be having a date with you. Wait till he sees you, he will be spoiled forever. Love you so, have fun with your BBFs and your girly talk. I love all the names suggested for your first baby, perhaps there can be a contest for all of your fans to chose the name. Have fun, you will probably be meeting Bernardini the second or third week of February. I am sure your teams will throw a great Valentine’s Day Party for you, your friends and intended. Love you, be safe, have fun, stay so precious, you angel in disguise.

Zenny (Bernyatta) what a choice!! What beauties you’ll have. Your family certainly has taken excellent care & thought into your future. He’s one handsome guy. You’re post today was very sweet. Love to you and yor girlfriends. Is he taller or the same height as you?
Ann F
Great choice for you. Your connections did well. My husband and I also thought of the senior sire Giant’s Causeway but Bernardini is a great choice. Can’t wait.

Ms Zenyatta, Bernardini is such a lucky guy, bet all the stallions are quite depressed right now. I know I was hoping for Tiznow, but I had heard that since he is such a big guy and you a big girl, it could be dangerous for you. I like all the royalty you two put together in this beautiful bouncing baby. A year, wow, patience. Hoping you will be back home n CA in about, 3 years. That would be great. Dreams of carrotts, peppermints, love and Bernardini…..I love ya so….Lisa g.
Lorrie
Congrats on your date with Bernardini. Best wishes on this new adventure.
Rosemary McCauley
You will have one incredible foal, no matter who the sire, but they picked a really great one. Can’t wait to see him or her.
LT
Oh Zenny you are so lucky…Bernardini is one handsome dude, saw him race @ BC 2006 you two will make beautiful babes and I can’t wait to see those pics…
Joan
@ensign
Sorry, I didn’t read any previous posts. Glad to hear she will be taken right back,
didn’t seem right for her to be away from her new digs since she has adjusted so well. Now I don’t have to worry about it. Thanks.

@ JOAN above,
.
I posted this earlier…..
Zenyatta will be vanned over to Darley, be bred, then come right home. No need for her to stay there. She’ll be back in her own paddock within an hour or two (depending on the drive).
ENSIGN
LOL Joan, guess we posted together.

Queen Z and Mr. B – it’s so exciting! Thanks for the update – you’re so good to us, Dottie! I agree with an earlier post – we sure would love more pictures. Can’t get enough of looking at our girl!!
Rita Boucher
Oh sweet!!! Looking forward to your transition to motherhood. Thanks for keeping us in the loop!!
janet
Given the way the Moss’ feel about you, I wonder if they will keep your baby to race or put it through the sale?
Judy Sims
Well, Zenny, the “Royal Announcement” has been made. Bernardini (imagine they call him Bernie for short)is one handsome dude with great bloodlines (Seattle Slew, Secretariat and some other greats). Your foal’s name will have to be one that the track announcers can pronounce because they will be saying it a lot! I wonder if it will run “dead last” and then have that marvelous closing stride and beat all commers? You are going to be taking us all on another fantastic ride of another sort after you are bred and the waiting and speculating begins. Enjoy your remaining carefree days because motherhood is a great responsibility and you have so much to teach your little one so he or she will follow in your phenomenal hoofprints.
Hugs & nose kisses.

Dearest, Zenny, I love this name the best too. How great that you and girls have been chatting away about your exciting prospects. Between your posts to us (which we absolutely love and appreciate) and time spent one on one with your paddock partners, you are one busy lady. And in approximately 12 months you will be even more so with that beautiful wee lassie or laddie by your side. With your intelligence and gentle nature, I am sure you will make a wonderful mother. Until then you realize that along with Team Z you will have thousands of fans that feel like expectant mothers and fathers ourselves following your progress and nervously awaiting the birth; while providing you a dictionary full of possible names. What fun! I join the prayers of many others for a safe and successful breeding, an easy gestation and the birth of a fabulous mini me or would that be Zenny me? May you and your babies always be happy and healthy. Sweet dreams beautiful. Lots of hugs and kisses.
Ensign – Had missed seeing your posts for awhile. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I loved the girl talk comment.
Robin A.B.
Beautiful Zenny – each day you move on a little bit more to your new life. We love you so much and wish only the best for you – a healthy pregnancy and a healthy foal.
How about Bayatta if it’s a filly and Berzenya if it’s either?
Robin A.B.
P.S. ZENNY/DOTTIE: HOW ABOUT A CONTEST FOR NAMING THE NEW FOAL AND DONATING THE PROCEEDS OF ENTRIES TO CHARITY? I think beautiful Zenyatta would AGAIN singlehandedly raise a tremendous amount of $ for rescued thoroughbreds.
Bridget
Hey Zenny I want to throw you a baby shower!!!!! All of us crazy ladies that write to you every day can come visit and give you presents!!!!!!!!!
