Good Morning,
Home Sweet Home! Oh, this is too cute! This morning, my dear John sent me a photo of my Hollywood Park HOME…BARN 55…STALL 85. I wanted to share it with you!
John said when I left for Kentucky that he would not use my stall or put another horse into it for quite some time. It is decorated with so many of my things. This is really the way it looked when I was there…except you would see ‘my adorable head’ poking out of the door. I was always so curious and wanted to be sure I knew everything going on in the barn all of the time! I never wanted to miss a THING!
Now, instead of me looking out the door, there is a painting hanging in the back of the stall of Mario with ME. It was done by a fan, Mrs. Kotulak! Mario and John have also hung up some of my favorite fan photos. My Christmas Stocking is there…my polo bandages, my feed tub and all of my other goodies! They even put a cute fresh bag of carrots by the stall every single day…just because! (OH…I do love my carrots!) This is so sweet!
What WONDERFUL MEMORIES! I have truly been one very FORTUNATE HORSE! BARN 55 REALLY LOVES ME A WHOLE BUNCH!
Cheers to a marvelous day! Here’s wishing you share a special memory with a treasured friend of yours today…like John did with me!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z
PS…OH DEAR…my JETS!
They gave it a good, solid try…but coming from WAY OFF THE PACE at the 1/2…then having to finish strong and make up so many points to win…(LENGTHS IN MY SPORT)…is not an easy thing to do! I KNOW THIS FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE!!
It was a great game! GOOD LUCK to THE JETS in the future…and CONGRATULATIONS to THE PACKERS AND THE STEELERS! THEY ARE OFF to the SUPER BOWL!

We love you Z.
Go Packers!

And you are a good sport too!–Zenyatta. Great to see your former home still reflecting your presence. :):)

Zenny, you can root for whichever team you want! I love you for your unbridled spirit in everything you do! If I were John, I’d leave Zenyatta’s stall exactly as she left it. When a foal of hers comes to you, that might be an appropriate time to allow someone else to use it.:)
Candace
Every time you let me come visit, she would be standing there in the stall with her head as FAR out as she could get it, checking every single thing sound and move. Everyone that walked past touched her or spoke to her–and her with her ears pricked forward noticing and taking it all in. I know you miss her so, so much. Thank goodness for Skype! Next picture posted I HOPE will be the Eclipse Award! Maybe one with her standing next to it :)
Andrea from Germany
This brought tears to my eyes, fine to keep in mind that your are now in another wonderfull stall with a loving team around you just as do deserve. Sending you LOTS of hugs. Love you Zenny

Love this post!!! Thanks for sharing!!

Too cute!!! Ok so we are waiting patiently to see who your first boyfriend will be. :o)

In the absence there still exists a certain presence! I love how John has somewhat kept things “business as usual.” I lost my special dog friend of 13 years just 2 weeks ago & I still have many of her toys, dog dish etc around the house. When you love something that is so special to your heart, I think it is a good idea to keep those small treasures close that help remind us why they were so dear to our hearts! I am sure, even with all of the excitement of all of your other barnmates, it probably gets a little lonely for him without you there each day.
Have a GREAT day Zen! XOXO
Barbara
This is so adorable! Thank you for sharing the photo:)) Love you Zenyatta!!!

Zenny – Are you a football fan too? GO STEELERS!! :)
I’ve read that you eat a banana everyday. I tried to feed one to my horse yesterday, but she wouldn’t eat it. Haha. She’ll eat almost anything though.
She LOVES black licorice as a treat.
Hugs and kisses from Ohio.

Awww…Zen, you’re such a cheerleader. I was rooting for your Jets as well….and now I’ll be opting to watch the Puppy Bowl instead of the Superbowl this year.
Waiting with excitement and anticipation to hear about your first date! Hope he’s a good-looking fella! :)
Bridget
Hey Jay! That shows she has good taste!!

Dear Zenyatta, Your diary posts are wonderful, informative, touching, and often so funny that I smile and laugh when I read them. Today’s remark about the Jets coming from so far behind was particularly funny and appropriate, coming from you with your amazing racing style. I’m one of your large number of fans in their senior years (I’m 69) who cannot get enough of all things Zenyatta. And special thanks to Dottie for capturing the humor of Z’s perspective on life as well as her serious side. As you suggested, I am sharing a special memory with a special friend today. Thanks and much love to you.

Zenny, this is absolutely precious!! Your team loves you so deeply. They always will! I am sure there are many bittersweet moments as they are missing you so but also knowing that you are happy and content in your retirement and kept you sound and safe throughout your amazing career. What wonderful memories indeed!! You are lucky to have them, and they are lucky to have you! We all are!! You enrich our lives every single day! I too am lucky to have shared many treasured moments with humans and animals alike! Thank you Dottie and John for the beautiful pic. and notes! ♥

Dear Z, So sorry about the Jets loss yesterday…it happens. I was just wondering…I know you love carrots, peppermints and Guiness. What other treats do you like? Apples, maybe? I’m a fan of Honeycrisp apples. Maybe Dottie or John could bring you one to try. They are yummy.
If your stable ever allows visitors to come see you, I plan to make a road trip w/ my sweetie. His mom says she’s “in” too! We WILL bring treats for you and your girlfriends (hope that’s allowed, but understand if it’s not.)To feed you a treat….heaven!
Thanks Dottie for keeping us updated on everything! Much appreciated.
Hugs♥

Ahwwww, Zenny, I almost want to go stare at your old stall and imagine you are there. I don’t think I would be able to look at it if I were working at Barn 55, I would be too sad. Still, we must think of the present and future, and you are one happy horse in your new home. I am taking a lesson from you and would like to meet some new ‘horse’ friends, of course, we will all be talking about you. WHO WOULD LIKE TO MEET AT SANTA ANITA ON FEB 5 TO SEE: “Penny Chenery, the owner of 1973 Triple Crown champion Secretariat, has created the Secretariat Vox Populi Award and will present the trophy to Zenyatta’s owners, Jerry and Ann Moss, in a public ceremony at Santa Anita Park on Saturday, February 5.” I will call S.A. and find out what time the award is, it would be fun for us L.A. Zenny fans to meet and support Mr. & Mrs. Moss, and you Zenyatta, when you receive yet another well deserved award. I will post tomorrow with a time and spot for us to meet. We will know each other by our Z gear I’m sure. Zenny, we will take lots of pix and send them to you. What fun.
Helen
Oh I just think your trainer is the best! John has a heart the size of TX and I can feel his sadness in some ways. I do the same thing when I either loose a friend or have sold a friend to a good home. There is always a bit of something missing. Love you all! BIG HUGS ZENNIE!

Zenyatta(HOY),
I will be going to the Super Bowl in Dallas my XXVIII Super Bowl, but the three pictures I took with you at Barn 55 is still the best time ever. Go Packers.
Jan Doyle
How sweet is this picture. Zenyatta, how much they must miss you. I know your LE family is taking good care of you and love you, but never will they surpass the love that your Barn55 has for you. You are one lucky girl and I know you know that. Peppermint kisses.
Sarah Powell
Dear Z – who would ever be worthy of your stall? I think it should remain just like John has it and go “on the tour”!! Thanks for the post! When will see the official photo of the Queen with her HOY award. That’s one for a poster!! I can’t imagine how difficult it is for everyone at barn 55 without her presence but it has to be a comfort to know that she is enjoying her retirement.

Precious Z… You are so deeply loved and missed. Thank you so much for sharing this pic. I believe that only family memebers should use your stall. Do you know if your 1/2 sister Eblouissante will be trained by John? If so she will definitely be in great hands. Hugs and kisses to you!!!

I have never been to your barn but it brought tears to my eyes knowing how the whole crew misses seeing you there. I bet they would love to see your first born in stall 85 . . . . . fingers crossed!!!
Love you lovely lady <3

Hi Zenny! Okay, the photo of your “empty” stall makes me tear up. Sorry! It makes me miss knowing you’re not there for me to come by and say hello :-(
On February 5th, when Team Zenyatta receives the special award on your behalf from Penny Chenery, I will arrive with my “famous” Zenny manicure in your honor. That’s the least I can do for my Girly Girl!
XOXO

Hi Zenyatta, I have to tell you, because of you and the wonderful Eclipse HOY award, I am having friends over for a visit in a couple of weeks to celebrate. We are all horse fans and love the sport. I will be serving Guiness, pork rib roast with a bourbon glaze, roasted carrots, apple salad and of course, carrot cake. I am decorating the table with all Zenyatta stuff. See how you bring friends together. Wish you could be with us at the table, but you will always be in our heart. Love you.

Oh Zenyatta! We think of you and miss you and remember you this day. To tell you that our thoughts of you are just a tear away.
Your old stall/home has become a shrine in your memory. I truly hope that you are happy in your beautiful and spacious paddock with your new friends, but my heart aches for John Shirreffs and all of Team Z, who must miss your shining presence more than words can say.
