Happy Sunday Everyone!
Yesterday I commented that John and I spent some wonderful quality time together 1 to 1 when my CA FAMILY was visiting me last week. He took some distance photos for you so you could see my paddock. In this one, I am on the far right. As you can see, we have a wonderful, large paddock to run and play in together. It is very spacious and located in a place on the farm where we can see everything going on around us. The view is absolutely spectacular. As you know, I love to stand and look at my surroundings for hours at a time…just like I would do when I was out grazing at Barn 55. So this is very pleasing for me! I can see everything…everywhere! I feel like I am at a beautiful resort!
Then my dear John took some photos of ME. He simply can’t resist checking me out and feeling my legs…as he has done for years every single morning. I was a great sport…and let him do it. He really thought I looked fabulous and very healthy. Even though I’ve gained some weight while here…John thought I was ‘wearing it beautifully’. As always, he was full of many wonderful compliments for me! JOHN sure knows how to make ME feel special. I loved seeing him again!
My dear John did note, though, that I had a bit of a scratch on my one hip. I’m fine…just playing around in the field with my friends. It is all just part of having FUN! I do enjoy all of my free time and running free. It is a very special time for me in my life now! I feel so fortunate in so many ways!
Well, only a few more hours until GAME TIME for MY JETS! I want to be right up-front and watching when they KICK OFF! Oh, I do love my SPORTS! Dottie was telling John and I this morning that I was on ESPN. They were doing a segment on different achievements in different sports…and I was mentioned for my 19 for 20 record! Too cute!
Enjoy your day.
With Love,
Hugs to all~

Love the photos and your up dates. Will there be a photo book with all of them in it we could buy? Enjoy being able to log on and see how you and your team are doing and how you are doing there. Looks like you are enjoying yourself with all of your friends. Take Care and God Bless.

Hey there girl – you look so beautiful in your pasture, I just love seeing new pictures of you! We all love you so much and think of you every day! You won our hearts with your beauty and courage – even now when I think of your gallant spirit it brings a tear to my eye. I will always LOVE YOU – stay well!

ZENNY, PLEASE THANK JOHN FOR THE BEAUTIFUL PICTURES. WE DID NOT REALIZE THE EXTENT OF THE FIELD YOU PLAY ON EACH DAY WITH YOUR GAL PALS. IT IS GREAT TO KNOW YOU CAN RUN AS FAST AS YOU WISH ANY TIME YOU DESIRE. IT SOUNDS AS IF YOU ARE ON TOP OF THE WORLD LOOKING DOWN ON CREATION…BUT WHERE ELSE WOULD THE QUEEN REIGN?

Zenyatta , the photos of you taken by John are awesome! Can’t wait for the “Jets” game. xxoxoxox

Beautiful pics and so good to hear that you are fine and with your friends. Thank you John for those photos. Love you Zenny.

John…thanks for these stunning pictures! We never get tired of looking at this mare…she is spectacular in every way. You and Dottie should write a book and share all your pictures with us. It would be a best seller for sure. Just look at how her facebook fans are growing. Did you ever imagine it would be like this…especially when she first came to your barn? My family will be rooting for the Jets, too. Have a wonderful Sunday. Zenny…we anxiously wait for news of the “gentleman” who will be your first date. ;-)

Lane’s End Resort and Spa where every girl wears her new curves beautifully. …
I smile when I picture John ‘checking you out and feeling your legs’. Giving you a good look over. It must make him so happy to be able to do that. Like comfort food for the soul. His photos are wonderful. He has captured some beautiful and tranquil moments in the paddock. They warm the heart.
Sorry can’t cheer on your Jets with you. I’ll be busy with Da Bears!! Big game against the Packers. Enjoy your Sunday Zen. Talk later. Guiness kisses to you.

Ms Zenyatta, love the photos and I cannot see that you’ve gained weight, however, us tall girls can carry weight fairly well. When you mentioned the scratch, my heart went ziggy, zaggy, skippy, ziggy…and then I thought, like a scrated knee from playing type thing. As for the book thingy we are all talking about, did you mention any of this to Dottie for consideration? She should, I just have this feeling that writing would be another profession for her to consider. I love you..can’t wait for more Diary Posts, Photos and Videos. Stay warm, Sweet dreams of carrots and peppermints, and Tiznow. Lisa g

Nancy L – thanks so much for sharing the link to Trevor Denman on Zenyatta, just nice to know that a veteran like him realizes her greatness and that we’ll not see another like her again.
Julie Ann in OC – that special award ceremony from Peney Chenery at Santa Anita is on Feb. 5th but no details yet.
Dottie/John – thanks for sharing the pixs and comments! Means a lot to us all to be a part of Zeny’s life. Looking forward to the big announcement.

Sweet Z, You are at a beautiful resort! Thank you, John for the lovely photos. I love hearing about the one on one time that you and your wife take with Zenyatta. That is so important and so fulfilling. It’s two souls talking, and I crave that conversation with my own horse. Thank you Dottie for translating such uplifting thoughts from the Queen herself! The diary posts are really very healing to the hungry hearts of horse lovers everywhere!

I really enjoy your Blog, it allows us to still feel some contact with Ms. Zenyatta! Love the photos…. Zenyatta, is still as STUNNING as ever.
Note to Ms. Z…. “You will always be a Heart~stopping Beauty!…. even with a few more lbs, you carry it well. Sending friendly ‘pats’….to you in your winter coat. You look Marvelous!!!”
Dwayne
Say there Z, easy on the “horse play” ok? The “John Shirreffs” in me noticed the scratch in the photo even before reading the comment. That’s probably the only blemish I’ve or anyone else has ever seen on you in all likelihood eh?
Dawn Conrad
Dear, Zenyatta. Thank you so much for sharing the great pictures John took while visiting with you. Your paddock is beautiful and such a wonderful space for you and the girls to run and relax in. How great that you got to spend some quality one on one time with John. We all know how extra special your relationship is. You were together almost every day for over three years. And what magical moments each of those days had. Quiet time in your stall, just you and he talking and drinking a bit of Guinness. Grazing on your grass patch, watching life around you. Sharing wonderful photo opts with fans, making a difference in peoples lives. Exciting race days, dancing to the post and finally you and Mike making your move to the front. Celebrating in the winners circle with family and friends, John often in the background, not in the picture. So many fabulous moments. John was always there, taking such good care of you, keeping you healthy with what nature intended (hay, oats and water). He always showed such patience. He spoke often of his admiration of the thoroughbred breed and how much it’s rich history meant to him. For a quiet man, he communicated so much. He made us feel the love and pride he had for you in our hearts. We will never forget the hat throw after the BC 2009. And it wasn’t just you, he has shown the same care for every horse in his barn. I cannot put into words the admiration I feel for him. He is what many other trainers need to aspire too. It’s not all about the money, it’s about the horse. The greatest reflection of John’s soul is you, Zenya, and everything you have accomplished in his hands. Just like Jerry, we all thank god you were destined to find each other. Dottie, it was so wonderful to see you and John on stage at the Eclipse Awards. The way he looked at you and placed his hands on your shoulders, it was so visable that you are the greatest love in John’s life. You are so supportive of each other. Thank you again for the wonderful diary posts on behalf of Zenny. They are marvelous. Hugs and kisses coming your way beautiful Miss Z. Enjoy your day.

No Matter what Z, we can still pick you out in a crowd :) x0x0x0

Nancy L: Oh my gosh, isn’t that video a fabulous tribute to Zenyatta?!? Naturally it brought more happy tears of amazement and wonder, but Zenyatta has made me quite used to those by now. Thank you so very much for sharing with us.
Maria
Queen Z, John takes really nice pictures. You look great in those photos. It’s wonderful that you’re having so much fun. It’s funny that John can’t resist checking you out and feeling your legs. I think it’s his way of showing how much he loves you. He just wants assurance for himself that you’re fine. Zenny, I know you weigh more than the average. I was wondering if the additional weight you gained now and will gain later on when you’re with foal will not put stress on your legs. Well it’s just a taught. I know you’re surrounded by people who are taking good care of you. Anyway have a blast outside with your buddies but stay safe and no rough housing. I love you so much.
Did you know that your friend Mike and Euroears, who is 7 years old won at Santa Anita yesterday? Good for him.
Debbi M
Saw you last night on espn—they were showing a bowler who scored an almost perfect game. He missed on his final frame….and then they mentioned other near perfect athletes and bam, there you were, running across the screen. You were the only non-human athlete shown. :) It was great to see your image and your name travelling across national sports news. :)

Hey Z is that not the way things are, when we call it a day or what ever we put some weight on LOL!!! But it looks good on you, your still wonderful, and you just know that camera dont you? Your paddock is wonderful all that space to run and play with your pals. We know along with you how speical John is, I think he does miss you however. You are wearing your HOTY very well also, just think it has been almost a week since you won. And I think it will be the Jets and Packers in the super bowl. I wish I had of seen the ESPN segment, but you know I guess we cannot see everything all the time. Still wating for the 60 mins update, I know you said perhaps over the summer. We love seeing the photos that John has taken, heck we love seeing everything :) Looking foward to getting my Bloodhorse this coming week, speical issue HOTY, you will be on the cover :) I think this will be your 11th cover? You have a good day Z and enjoy watching your Jets, do they even know your a fan? I bet they would love to know that. Much hugs and peppermint kisses to you.

Love you Zenyatta. Root for the Bears, too, okay? Glad that hip scratch is just that and you were having fun while getting it.

Dawn Conrad, What an insightful, warm, and caring post you just added here. You speak what’s in my heart also, and probably in the hearts of many Z fans. In Dr. Seuss’s story about the Grinch, there’s a line “And his heart grew three sizes that day.” That’s what Zenyatta and her people do for all of us, isn’t it?
harold
what a great place Big Z,just lovely for you and all your friends.

Happy Sunday to you Zenyatta. Your living area is just beautiful and when spring gets here it will be even more beautiful. I have been to Kentucky before, actually, to the Kentucky Derby in 2009. I am planning to come and see you in the spring. I hope you will be able to have visitors. I guess I will just have to wait and see what your plans are. The plans should be what ever is best for you. I know you will enjoy the game today,GO JETS!!!! I will be watching also. I LOVE YOU ZENYATTA!!!!
