Good Morning,
I am still ‘BASKING IN THE GLOW’ of my GOLDEN TROPHY! What a complete honor! LUCKY, LUCKY ME!
I did want to tell you how GREAT it was when my family came to visit last Sunday. Here are a few photos. I had lots of treats…which I shared with my friends…and hugs and kisses. Those I kept for myself!
Ann and Jerry spent a great deal of time with me both inside the barn and outside while I was in the paddock. They watched me play with my friends and do some very ‘spirited’ gallops around the field with my 3 buddies. We are really getting along beautifully. P.Q., Sea Gull, Alyse and I are great friends. This ‘bonding thing’ is very special and I think I’m getting the hang of it now.
Then John and Dottie each spent ONE-to-ONE time with me. John really wanted to just visit with me…he and I all by ourselves. Dottie did the same. Over the last 4 1/2 years, I have spent so much time with these 2 people…especially my dear John. All of the quiet time visits…1 to 1…really mean a great deal to me. During our time together, John shot several photos of ME…and I’ll share some of them with you tomorrow. (He is just so cute…carrying his cameras around. I’ve seen him do this for years now.)
As you can see in today’s photos, my ‘winter coat’ is growing. This is what keeps me nice and warm while I’m outside. It is all part of nature’s way of helping me to adjust to a colder climate…as it does all horses. I do feel like I am adapting beautifully to my new life at the farm. I also KNOW ALL OF YOU are still in touch…and that makes me feel so, so, so special!
Many of you are asking about my FIRST DATE! I know the options…my family did discuss them with me. Between you and I, I know MY FAMILY is going to LUNCH next week to finalize the details. They promised they’d tell me FIRST…and then all of YOU! This is really too cute! I’m getting so excited.
Breeding sheds open in MID-FEBRUARY around Kentucky! So, it is getting close.
As many of you know, I just LOVE SPORTS…guess it is because I am an athlete. It is a fun FOOTBALL WEEKEND. MY N.Y. Times Buddies, THE JETS, are playing. Gotta’ love Jason Taylor! Not only is he a terrific Jets football player…a few seasons ago, he was also one of the FINALISTS on DANCING WITH THE STARS. He and I have the DANCING THING IN COMMON!
This is also a big secret……a friend of mine tried out for that show! I’ll keep you posted. If it all works out, in my free time, I could offer some of my ‘unique dance steps’ for the program! THEY COULD ALL LEARN TO DO ‘THE ZENYATTA’ !!
Have a lovely Saturday!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

To Paula Turner:
Your post was heartfelt. It made me cry, but remember so few humans have the bond you had with Slew or Z’s team has with her. That’s a true blessing. Judy B.

Hi sweet Z,
I’m so glad you had such a wonderful visit with your family. It is obvious from the photos that they love you and you love them. I’m wondering who they will select for your first date? I’m thinking an older guy, perhaps, who goes by his initials rather than first name? I’m thinking he’s about the only one good enough for YOU! Take care, sweet pea.

Yes, YOU AND JASON “CAN DANCE”. You should be on Dancing With The Stars. YOU would win hoofs down! (*_*) It makes my day when I read your posts. They are so uplifting. I think about you all the time. I do hope that you are loving your new home. I kinda wish you still lived in California. Could you have not had a baby there?? All of your most truly loved ones could have seen you EVERY DAY in California. You maybe could have had a tv show, a talk show/dance show. Ellen does it. (*_*) I am rooting for the Jets like you. I say, GO JETS! We are all excited to hear who you have chosen for you first date. He should be a GOD to be with a GODDESS like you. I’m thinking he will be really excited when he meets you. He will be saying to himself, what did I do to deserve Zenyatta!!!!!! She is a babe!!! I LOVE YOU ZENYATTA!!! YOU ARE, SIMPLY THE BEST, BETTER THAN ALL THE REST! PS: I hope you got the card I sent. I had a bit of a problem with Fed Ex. and nearly cried on the phone while taking care of the problem. I told them the letter was the most important letter they would ever deliver. (*_*) I will be waiting for your next post. Take care and enjoy yourself. xoxoxoxxoxoxoxoxo

Zen, you are looking good and doing
just fine in snowy Kentucky. So happy
to see you and your CA.family together sharing good times. Hugs and lots of
kisses to you and can’t wait to hear
who your “date” will be.

Good morning Big, beautiful, Zenyatta!!! The pictures are great (thanks for sharing), we love to see you just relaxing and enjoying your family. You’ve work so hard to get where you are today and that’s FANTASTIC, enjoy it. It shows to people that if “you” can do it, they can also do it, if they put their minds to it and some hard work, the hard work pays off. You are a GREAT ROLE MODEL ZENYATTA. Love you big girl, have a great Saturday and of course lots and lots of love and Big BIg Hugs.

To Zenyatta: I forgot to mention something about a dance called “The Zenyatta.” Someone is sure to write the music to it as well.
I thought you might be interested to see a British dog trainer and her Australian shepherd Chandi do their own version of “The Zenyatta,” a dressage dance where human and canine are side by side. Here is the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sknEaZHHbhc
Tina and Chandi’s bond reminds me of yours with Team Z, an equine version of it, that is. They look adoringly up at you. With Tina and Chandi the direction of the gaze is opposite.
Much love–Robbie

Hi Zen and Team Z! Zen, I bet that 1-on-1 time with John was just as special to John as it was to YOU. Probably more so. It’s so obvious how much your entire team adores you, and I think that’s a WONDERFUL thing. Horse Racing needs more people like the Mosses and Shirreffs. Look what a success their brand of handling YOU was! You’d think others would jump on the bandwagon right quick! Hey,maybe if your team ever decides to retire, they could go into TEACHING, spreading their wealth of knowledge about horses and racing!
Any news on your award from Penny Chenery? I bet Dottie is over the moon! I hope everyone has told you just how special it is to be given such a compliment by Ms. Chenery – she owned one of the most famous racers of all time, you know, Secretariat. And she has said how much she thinks of YOU in interviews!! WOW! And now to receive an award from her? Just goes to show how special you are,my girl!! Now all the world will TRULY understand Zenyatta Fever!!!!!
Love to all of Team Z!
Dona
YES, you keep all those hugs and kisses cause they will multiply into more and more for you. You are so worthy, great one! Now, I just have time to practice my “Zenyatta Dance” and then it’s off to play with my friends just like you do! Well, not quite like you, but close.:)

Hi Zenny, those are some good pictures of you and your family at their last visit. I’m glad that you were able to have special time to visit with each one of them. I can believe that you are still excited about your golden award. You were so deserving of that award because of what you are. I’m still flying high because you won the award, the feeling was awsome. I will be waiting for you to give lessons on how to do the Zenyatta and I will be anxious to learn myself. You sure can boogie Zen. I thought you might try to teach your horse friends a few steps. We are all anxious to know who your first date will be. I’m sure the dicision makers will pick the right date for you. Keep us informed Zenny. Love you, stay healthy and safe.
Trudy Schossler
I must say I can’t wait to hear from you, and it is always treat. I am on edge to hear who they have pick to be your mate. I know he will be great.

I agree that we do not need 24/7 access to the queen. A Cam does seems better than tour buses “streaming” into the area. Let see on/off switch vs tour bus….no brainer Night Zen lights off @ 10:30.

Great pictures Z!! Your family is so special each in their own way. Can’t wait to hear the big BABY DADDY news!

All I can say is please please A.P. Indy!!

I have looked at this post several times…I just love seeing you with Jerry, Ann, John, and Dottie…it is so cute seeing you posing so perfectly for Ann to take your picture. How I love those ears. You do love cameras…you know what it is all about…what a smart good looking girl. Love to you Queen Z…..
Christine Coleman
Hi Zenny! Thanks for the update. You know you are our national treasure, and we are very protective of you, not to mention we love you!! I’m so glad you got to see your family! I wish Mario could have been there too. But I guess he is needed at Barn 55.
I’m dying to find out who you will approve for your mate! I’m casting a vote for Candy Ride! But whomever you and your family choose is alright with us! So far their decisions about you have been on the money!
Enjoy your days and nights Zenny! I miss seeing you on the track, but would never be so selfish as to wish you away from the wonderful life you have now.
Take care and have fun with your friends in the pasture!
Love you, Zenny!

You look so beautiful. I can tell you love seeing your family. I hope the luck guy is A. P. Indy but your family knows what is best. Can not wait to see more pictures. All Hail the Queen. Hugs and Kisses

If it isn’t AP I’ll eat my hat….my straw beach hat….. not my Zenyatta hat:)

What a fun visit you all had! I am so glad that you are having fun just getting to be a horse. I look every day to see who will be your first date will be. I love A.P. Indy (named my dog after him), but I think Smart Strike would be great too.
Mary Davies
Thank you Zenyatta, you precious girl, for never forgetting us!!! We Love you so… From our hearts to yours always….MUUUAAAAHHHH!

“The Zenyatta!” A dance we can all do in your honor, Queen Z. When you find a human who can do it as well as you, please share a video with us. It could be the next dance craze.
Connie Winner
Missy Zen… I just want you to know you look simply marvelous in your “pics” with fam… nothing better girlfriend! Just so you aren’t “shocked”… after your date night with a Prince, remember later…if your “butt” looks big…. it is darling! (It’s supposed to) just know, eating right and exercise with the “kiddo” will get your girlish figure back. Say hi to your girlfriends for me, they too look great. Hugs and kisses from Calif!
Celeste
Thank you once again for sharing more beautiful photos with us. This blog is so special and helps to fill the void we feel from having no upcoming races to anticipate. Because Team Z is so kind and generous we can now share in the anticipation and excitement of guessing who the first date will be. Many of us have said who we would like it to be but I’m sure the Mosses will choose wisely because they have handled everything else so beautifully all this time. My vote (which does not count) would go to A.P. Indy because of his remarkable pedigree being by Seattle Slew out of a mare by Secretariat – two Triple Crown Champions. My heart was so touched by Paula Turner’s post about Baby Huey, so I’m grateful for that, too. Your photos are beautiful, Zenyatta, as are you and I cannot wait to see more, but I am trying to learn to be patient. So I won’t babble on any more, I’m going to follow some of these links others have posted to read more fun Zenyatta information.

Zenny…I should have said Ms. Clark not Brown in my post about the lovely tribute Jerry read when accepting your award. She must be a wonderful lady. Those words were so appropriate on such an awesome occasion.
lisa
I look forward to your posts everyday! Keep them coming. Zenyatta they should have a new show called dancing with the queen, so you could get some more television coverage lol. Glad you are doing well cant wait to hear who is going to be your first date. I personally hope it is AP Indy, you two could make GREAT babies together.
harold

Dani
Zenyatta – I’m so glad you had your alone time one-on-one with both John and Dottie. The special friendship and love that you share is palpable. Just the expressions on your faces as you look at one another are heart rendering. It must be so difficult not to see you every day like they use to. But when they watch you run like a free spirit, galloping with such joy in your step, then it probably makes it alright. And the feelings you must have when you get to spend time with them, well I can imagine you letting out a big sigh of contentment just to have all of your ‘family’ back with you, Mr. and Mrs. Moss, John and Dottie. It makes me feel very happy for all of you.
….Now about that ‘first date’. Since the breeding sheds get pretty hectic in mid-February when you will be meeting Mr. Perfect, you might want to make an appointment now to have your hooves done, your teeth a quick once over, your mane – no, you are perfectly coifed and you already have the most fabulous outfit – that gorgeous winter coat…and in a color most girls would die for… Show him a few dance moves – he won’t know what hit him. We are all very excited for you needless to say.
Derby*Ann
So much love for one special girl.

Beautiful Zenyatta, This has certainly been a whirlwind week for you and I want to thank Dottie and you for allowing us to share these history making events. One of the most cherished moments came when Mr. & Mrs. Moss assembled your entire team on stage for the acceptance of your HOY award and acknowledged each of them for their contribution to your fabulous career. And then dear Dottie thanking all of your fans, how special was that! And yes, Ann and Dottie looked beautiful right down to the shoes. And now that you have received Penny Chenery’s Voice of the People Award, you surely stand among the few greats of racing royalty. You still look as gorgeous as ever with your winter coat and I still see your dapples. Please don’t get conceited with all this fame going on around you, it does carry it’s own responsibilites. Love You More Than Ever.
