Good Morning,
I am still ‘BASKING IN THE GLOW’ of my GOLDEN TROPHY! What a complete honor! LUCKY, LUCKY ME!
I did want to tell you how GREAT it was when my family came to visit last Sunday. Here are a few photos. I had lots of treats…which I shared with my friends…and hugs and kisses. Those I kept for myself!
Ann and Jerry spent a great deal of time with me both inside the barn and outside while I was in the paddock. They watched me play with my friends and do some very ‘spirited’ gallops around the field with my 3 buddies. We are really getting along beautifully. P.Q., Sea Gull, Alyse and I are great friends. This ‘bonding thing’ is very special and I think I’m getting the hang of it now.
Then John and Dottie each spent ONE-to-ONE time with me. John really wanted to just visit with me…he and I all by ourselves. Dottie did the same. Over the last 4 1/2 years, I have spent so much time with these 2 people…especially my dear John. All of the quiet time visits…1 to 1…really mean a great deal to me. During our time together, John shot several photos of ME…and I’ll share some of them with you tomorrow. (He is just so cute…carrying his cameras around. I’ve seen him do this for years now.)
As you can see in today’s photos, my ‘winter coat’ is growing. This is what keeps me nice and warm while I’m outside. It is all part of nature’s way of helping me to adjust to a colder climate…as it does all horses. I do feel like I am adapting beautifully to my new life at the farm. I also KNOW ALL OF YOU are still in touch…and that makes me feel so, so, so special!
Many of you are asking about my FIRST DATE! I know the options…my family did discuss them with me. Between you and I, I know MY FAMILY is going to LUNCH next week to finalize the details. They promised they’d tell me FIRST…and then all of YOU! This is really too cute! I’m getting so excited.
Breeding sheds open in MID-FEBRUARY around Kentucky! So, it is getting close.
As many of you know, I just LOVE SPORTS…guess it is because I am an athlete. It is a fun FOOTBALL WEEKEND. MY N.Y. Times Buddies, THE JETS, are playing. Gotta’ love Jason Taylor! Not only is he a terrific Jets football player…a few seasons ago, he was also one of the FINALISTS on DANCING WITH THE STARS. He and I have the DANCING THING IN COMMON!
This is also a big secret……a friend of mine tried out for that show! I’ll keep you posted. If it all works out, in my free time, I could offer some of my ‘unique dance steps’ for the program! THEY COULD ALL LEARN TO DO ‘THE ZENYATTA’ !!
Have a lovely Saturday!
With Love,
Hugs to all~
Z

Hi Z! Thanks for the post. I am so glad you had so much fun with your family. It is so nice that John and Dottie got to spend some one on one with you too. Can you just believe it-YOU ARE HORSE OF THE YEAR!!!!! I happen to think that you are the horse of a lifetime. It fills my heart with so much joy to know that after so many years you get to be just a horse and having so much fun with your friends! Love you Z! xxoo

ANY day there is a new post….. is a HAPPY day ;-)

Zenyatta we are both rooting for the Jets…Have ya seen Mark Sanchez? lol That alone is a good reason to root for them. haha He seems like a nice young man. I am soooo proud of your HOTY 2010 award. I looked at the list of horses that have been given the nod since 1887 (I think) and the number named at 6 years old was not a huge number. I think only one won at 7. As I have said before you are not only HOTY, but Horse of the Decade and Horse of the 21st century. I feel like a proud parent, but I know I am just another fan. You make us all so happy girl, thanks to you and all your team. One awesome group! Love you all.

PPh — at last some pics from down on the Farm. you look marvelous and it’ great to ee you reunited with the most important folks of all.

Z, I can’t wait to find out which stud will be picked! You are going to have some AMAZING foals!! :D There are so many nice stallions out here, it is hard to pick just one. I trust you will be a GREAT mommy!!

Too Precious!! Your coat is beautiful. Love YOU!!

So kind of you to offer your dancing knowledge to your friend! I think we would all love to learn how to do “The Zenyatta!” It could become a national craze – like the Mashed Potato or The Twist.
So happy for your win and your great visit with the Mosses and all your team. Please tell Dottie her shoes looked lovely at the Eclipse Awards. I made sure to check them out.
We will be holding our collective breaths to hear about your first date. I know your team will make sure you look your finest for the event.

Finally – Horse of the Year! I love you Super Filly!

Hey Big Girl, love the posts, thanks Dottie. Did your mom and dad get you your own trophy case yet? I still think that would add so much to your room. We here in human land are still basking in the glow of your victory and anxiously awaiting the news of who your beau will be. I’m still rooting for A P Indy so we can mix some of that Secretariat and Seattle Slew blood in…..how royal a bloodline could you ask for. You look fantastic, retirement and the excellent care from Lane’s End has helped dispell the saddness of not seeing you on the track. We are all so happy for you….the people’s horse. Luv & kisses on your nose.

Hi Zenny. So glad you enjoyed visiting with your family. Have you enjoyed the sunshine today? I hope some time when your family visits they can catch some good weather! Love you girl.

This blog is so much fun to read. You know, Zenatta, after a while you could publish a book with these blogs and some of the pictures. With the part of the proceeds you could maybe help other horses that do not have a good life like you do. God bless you Zennie, and God bless your friends and people.

Allison Suderski, good lord, what an idea! if we could wait all this time for HOTY, we could do it for a movie, too. that might just push Dottie over the edge, though.
Sarah Powell

Hi Queen,
Love the pictures of you and your family! I know you shared your treats with your little band of girly friends and the others in the barn, I am sure you “gently tasted and nibbled the carrots” LOL.
I just ordered one of your hats, I waited for the ones that would say HORSE OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!Can’t wait till it comes along with your stadium blanket and Blood Horse Magazine about you!!!
When you talked with John did he mention any tips of some of the horses on the Derby trail? Did you hear anything great, any new tips?
I am happy that the Moss’ discussed your “big date” with you and gave you options!!!I’m sure they wouldn’t want anyone you didn’t want.
I was just looking at the Darby stallions and saw your daddy’s pictures and list of his little ones that did really wonderful, and of course there was your beautiful name and stats!! Darby needs to update with a HOY award for one of his kids, little ole you!!!I’m sure he’s a proud Popa!
Hope it’s not too cold up there in KY, I’m in Ft Myers Fl and it is chilly here-that is for a little ole Fl lady anyway. Well I’m off to TVG and Gulfstream to see whats happening there, really miss you on the track.
Love and nose kisses. Joyce.

Ya know Zenyatta, you woud be great on Dancing With the Stars. You are certainly a bigger star then many contestants that have walzed across the floor.

Zen,
I had written to you before about an eagle cam that was done by the Norfolk Zoo and others to let us watch the life of an eagle family. I am sending a link for you to look at to see if your family would like something like this. It would afford you the privacy you need when you are in need of space. Your family would decide when, where and how we see you. Just an idea to look at.
