Good Morning Everyone!
What a fabulous last few days it has been! I have been receiving so many letters, notes, calls, hugs and kisses! Your DIARY posts have been amazing! THANK YOU! I am still rejoicing in the announcement…
The 2010 HORSE OF THE YEAR
IS
ZENYATTA!
These words will echo in my mind FOREVER! What a beautiful way to cap off my RACING CAREER!
I wanted you to see the OFFICIAL CARD used that evening. When Alex Waldrop was standing on the stage…opening the envelope…then announcing…AND THE WINNER IS…THIS is the official card he was holding!
It is all still so exciting for me! My beloved TEAM was here visiting with me on Sunday and wishing me GOOD LUCK before going on to Florida. Pictures will come soon.
Then, the big night arrived! After the announcement, I was able to TANGO with MY TEAM. Everyone has been so, so kind.
On Tuesday morning when they called, I think the news finally began to SINK IN! Ann and Dottie were talking to me on the phone, and suddenly I KNEW WHAT ALL OF THIS REALLY MEANT! I am so, so proud! I began to dance and prance all around my paddock. Then SEA GULL and I began to do this free spirited gallop all around the field. It was truly a moment of great celebration!
Again, I want to really THANK ALL OF MY FANS for the huge role you have played in my career. As Dottie mentioned to several members of the press that evening, it was ALL of YOU who helped to keep everyones’ spirits so positive and encouraged as we traveled along this journey together! We truly can’t thank you enough! I really knew how much you were there for ME!
What a fabulous feeling this is! Reflecting upon everything that has happened to me during my entire racing career…this accomplishment is THE DIAMOND EXCLAMATION POINT after my name! It really makes my career feel complete!
As John told Dottie…”this entire experience during the last 4 1/2 years is positively a wonderful FAIRY TALE…and yet it really happened to us in our lives!” I think they are still ‘pinching themselves’.
To my dear, dear fans….Thank you for sharing this DREAM with ME…and ALL of TEAM ZENYATTA!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z

Folks, go to her facebook page and see her running in the snow with her girlfriends.

Karen Lopez, I think this is what you are requesting,
Owner Jerry Moss summed it up best:
“If you love Thoroughbred horses, you go through life hoping that you can just see one more in whose presence, the clouds fall away to reveal the mountain top. It can take a generation, or infinitely longer, for such a horse to arrive. A horse that is capable of carrying the human heart. For the last 100 years, we know them all by name. But Zenyatta brought to us a beauty that was a tonic for the soul. She allowed us to believe in the impossible. And it was the light in her being, as much as the thrill of her races, that got us dancing. Zenyatta was transformative.”
ELLEN ZEHNDER
Dear Zennie
You truly had a wonderful career, and gave us, your fans, so much joy. You brightened even the darkest days. My thoughts were the same as yours being; “now she can enter the history books complete.” At the end of this century, when they rank the top 100 greatest racehorses of the 21st century, you will be right up there at the front. I wish we all could be here to read that book. I plan to visit you this year, when Lane’s End develops your visitation plans. Until then, enjoy your new friends and your wonderful new life. You have earned it.
Carolyn
Here is the actual link to Tranquility Farms rescue that Jerry Moss was referencing to, Here you will find the exact poem he was reading, plus you can learn about the horses they have and what they do, Also, you can drop Priscilla Clark an email , she is the author of the beautuful Zenyatta poem. I think we need to make that the official Zenyatta poem.
Carolyn
Sorry folks, here it is , I got carried away and forgot to paste it.

Good Morning Zenny:
Like all your fans I am so grateful to hear from you (Dottie) again after your and your team’s fantastic night last Monday at the Eclipse Awards. I was hoping they could hear my screams of joy clear across the state (I live in Naples, Florida).
“HORSE OF THE YEAR and THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE”
Life IS Sweet (don’t you love the analogy?).
I am so proud to be one of your fans and I thank you and your team for keeping us in the “Zenyatta Loop.” You all have raised the sport of horse racing to new heights and I so agree with other’s comments that you are “The Queen” and Secretariat is “The King.” How lucky am I that I have lived to witness both of your marvelous careers.
Have fun with your posse and enjoy all your days at beautiful Lane’s End.
Hugs & nose kisses.

All hail the Queen! Your fans could fill a football stadium and then some! Anxiously await news of your suitor – although Mike said it best: “No man is good enough”! Zenyatta, you and your entire team have given us entry into your life – a creature so magnificent, so unique, so lovely, so kind. We fans are enriched forever.
Congratulations and thanks.
Pat
Congratulations! I did shed a few tears of joy when I heard the news, and just looking at the card makes me feel the same way. You are truly a horse of a lifetime, but it’s nice that you were recognized for what you were in 2010, too! And thanks to your people as well for being so generous to your fans!

Karey–thank you for the kind words.
Good morning, dearest Z. I hope you have a fun-filled day romping with your buds in the snow. Love you always.

The idea of letting Z have some say in her date isn’t “off the wall” Story has it that the great Tesio let his stallions pick their mares.
Katie ZIberna
Congrats Zen!!!!!!!!

Think therr would have been riots in the streets if any other were HOY except Zen. Also think those voters were scared to deny you AGAIN. You have certainly EARNED HOY, ENJOY!
Patricia
To those wondering when Lane’s End will open up its doors for visitors for Zenyatta…I think it was an article last week with an interview of Charles Campbell & he was explaining for helath reasons why they have to a little restricitive with the general public. He explained in a straightforward way of certain contagious organisms that Zenyatta could contract & would impact her foaling…so I don’t think any time soon they will allow for visitation. I f I can find that article, I will let you know.
Debbie
Dear sweet Zenyatta. Watching the video of Team Z accepting the award for Horse of the Year is only eclipsed by the one of you running and jumping in the paddock the first time on your own at Lane’s End. I just read the January 3rd article by Steve Haskin (Bloodhorse.com) about Quality Road. He is described as “a gentle giant”, “a late developer”, “classy” and “a sweeheart”. Sound familiar? I know there will never be a perfect mate for you, but it sounds like Quality Road and you might have a lot in common. Let us know your thoughts about those suitors! Hugs and carrots Z.
Donita Fox
You deserve it Zenyatta!!!
Congratulations to you and your entire team! We love you!

Mary
Zenyatta, don’t you just love Jerry’s reaction when your name was announced, “Horse of the Year”!? I keep rewatching it when TVG replays it, and I have it recorded, and can’t stop replaying it! Your family most surely was scared to death (thats an expression we humans use)to maybe “not” hear your name. Jerry’s look and expression of shock and amazement, that you FINALLY received the honor you have long deserved and been denied, is priceless. Congratulations to you and your family and thank you for taking us along for the ride. Thank you Dottie, for your thank you to the fans. Hugs and Prayers
Ziggy
My master had tears in his eyes when he heard your name read as the winner.
Any chance you can get some doggy sweaters in the team Zenyatta colors on your site?
Carole K
@Patricia — the article was Steve Haskin’s piece about his recent visit to see Zenyatta at Lane’s End Farm.
Lisa Smith
Zenyatta–Everyone loves a winner, but YOU are SO much more! Your spirit and personality is what has thrilled and endeared you to so many, not to mention your stylish dance moves! Stay happy there w/Pirate Queen, Sea Gull, and Alys. LOVE YOU!
