ZENNY – CONGRATULATONS AGAIN, AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN – THIS TIME FOR PENNY CHENERY’S “SECRETARIAT VOICE OF THE PEOPLE AWARD” – CAN’T WAIT UNTIL FEBRUARY 5TH.
Lisa g
I agree that Dottie is busy, but I cannot live without Zenyatta.
Jenna
Good morning Z and D!
Let’s not get all depresso. I figured there wouldn’t be a post for a few days…give D a break. I wonder if they traveled to visit Z on the way home from FL? Something special is coming. I just know it.
I hope it isn’t snowing in KY like it is in New England.
Happy Friday, Z.
Linda
Thanks J. Smith – I voted for “Zenyatta’s
accomplishments” @ http://www.lasports.org and I believe the awards for Zenny will go on and on . . .

I agree 100% with Sherpa, posted today!
Patience, patience, patience, and let’s give Team Zenyatta a break, fellow fans. Celebrate Zenyatta’s last victory as 2010 Horse of the Year with friends and one another as Team Zenyatta is doing. Replay her races and her video on Bloodhorse until another posting arrives.
Gee, just give Dottie a break, please!!!
Patricia
Yes, it is difficult to wait until Post #62, but I am sure that Team Z is probably stopping at Lane’s End on the way back to CA & enjoying some time with their baby girl. And maybe they are looking at some Real Estate in the area…who knows, but they will not disappoint us & stop here at Post #61…
There are many reasons that we could speculate, but that would be unfair to the Mosses, Dottie & all who have been so devoted to the site. I bet the next post is going to be something we all could never imagine…something very spectacular & special as all of the others.
Cindy
I would imagine that if it was the last post, Dottie would have told us. Something like “this will be the last post until….”, or “for a while”,or some such like that. Surely, the posts just wouldn’t stop cold turkey. There could be a lot of reasons for the delay, but I agree, I keep checking for #62!!! I’m in withdrawl. I miss Zenyatta!
Delores
Hi Z, I miss your diary posts also. I think we are going to hear who your boyfriend is going to be. I can’t wait you beautiful girl you deserve the best.
I know you are still on cloud nine like the rest of us on your HOY. I am so proud of you and your team. I was watching and when they announced your win I think the whole state of California heard me, I was so happy and crying and screaming, a dream come true for you and your fans.
CONGRATULATIONS AND LOVE YOU LOTS Z.
BYE FOR NOW AND WAITING FOR YOUR NEXT POST
XOXOXO LOTS.

Miesque, 27, died peacefully yesterday, Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Lane`s End Farm. Frances J. Karon, who loved Nureyev and his first filly, Miesque, out of Pasodoble, writes of her this morning on her blog ‘Riding Rough Shod,’ “Are There Sugar Cubes in Heaven?” A comforting picture of a great racemare and her keep under the loving care of her ‘longtime groom Wayne,’ even after ‘her last foal was born in 2005,’ will give you a warm feeling for Zenyatta, and her future. Khc.

My Sweet Lady Zenyatta, I miss hearing from you so much. I hope the next post will be a photo of you with your HOTY trophy and a family photo. I know Dottie, John & The Mosses are still celebrating and they are all thinking about Monday for the name of your mate. I’m looking forward to hearing that. When I don’t hear, I worry about you, Zenyatta. I pray you are healthy, safe & happy. I love you, Zenyatta. You have brought me so many wonderful memories and so much joy. The article that Steve Haskins wrote about you was excellent. I felt as if I was there with you for a day. What an exciting life you have. Hugs & Kisses From Alabama With Love, Amanda G.

Thanks Kathryn for sharing this…my heart goes out to the owners & Lane’s End.
“Sugar cubes in heaven!” What a beautiful thought for those that love the taste of the sweet stuff! This must be a sad moment for everyone…27 & peaceful!

Frances J. Karon`s earlier posts at ‘Riding Rough Shod’ [a treasured stallion, who is mentioned earlier] give insight to the little protocols & courtesies visitors to the farms may observe; and the ‘kindness of strangers’ in helping her retrieve a treasure.

Our condolences to the LE family on the loss of Miesque.

‘Z`s’ legacy of promises kept, and the legend, are much on my mind with the gentle passing of Miesque, who left a trail Goldikova follows now, 30 years on. They are loved and cared for, some of them. It means so much to know these endings, and trust they can be for others, too. Sometimes, in the throat-latch that catches where fear wins, I forget to remember all the good that intervened to avert dire, unwanted consequences. Most often, the things feared do not damage as much as the fear itself. One or two examples from animals we learn to trust is how willingly they forgive our ignorance. Mostly it was not knowing better that caused that dumb move. Horses only want to know how to please you, then they do their damnedest to satisfy. In the gaps between what we mean and what we say or do, can be some egregious lapses . .. even M. Shirreffs went along with ‘Z,’ careful, watchful, patient; aware that maybe it would be what he already knew which he would have to let up on, to pick up the new way he`d need, approaching her. Making secret promises — ‘Z`s Honor-caliber ones — and seeing them through, is my new goal; only she and her Maker need to know, but I hope that by the time that tag Ann Moss wears for Zenyatta`s foal`s first halter goes on, some of these promises — which may never show on the outside — will have done some good on the inside. You really, all, are wonderful, you know.

Dear Zenyatta – my heart and soul are still dancing with the joy of your winning HOTY. I can hardly wait for your next post and hoping some photos from the recent visit of Jerry, Ann, Dottie and John too!
jim
i have been at lanes end web site. not one word about Z. that makes me angry. they said when they got her to check their website for information on visiting her. i was looking at some of the boys there. curlin might be the most beautiful horse i ever saw. he made over 10 million in earnings. i omly wonder why his stud fee is only 40000. i know hes not proven yet from his babies but i think he will be a great sire. if lanes end is such a great breeding farm why no votes for anything at the awards show. the only thing i ever read about them is when a horse dies. im upset. i think our beatiful Z has been thrown to the wolves. money is all that matters to horse owners. i guess they can make more off her babies than racing her. if she could speak i believe her heart is at the track with her fans. shes alone now after all the awards she deserved. her only real friends are her fans and horse friends at the farm. life goes on for the rich and famous. i will always love and miss Z. i pray every day for her. god bless ZENYATTA
Patti
Sweetheart – hope you have a great weekend. At lunch and checking in on you. Congratulations again on you newest crown – HOY – You have so many jewels in your tiera.

Bonjour Zenyatta,
Congratulations, Zenyatta, on winning the Horse of the Year Award for 2010!
I was watching the Eclipse Award on TVG, and I was afraid that you would not win it, and was so thrilled when I heard your name.
I already miss you, Zenyatta.
I love your name as it unusual as mine is too (Lise).
The next dog that I have will be named Zenyatta after you if that is all right.
I would love to visit you but Kentucky is far away from Maine.
By the way, when I watched the film of you running in the snow at your new home, I was worried that you would fall.
Please be careful in that snow, Zenyatta. I know because we have plenty of snow in Maine.
You are very fortunate to have such great owners as Mr.and Mrs. Moss, and it shows that they love you. They were very gracious to share you with us, your fans.
Love to you, Zenyatta, Mr. and Mrs. Moss, John Sheriffs, and the great people who took care of you.
Dani
Of course there will be more posts – and many of them. We all need to just bask in the glory of the HOY award for awhile and not be in a hurry for the next adventure or news to be posted. Who knows, they may be waiting to post once they are ready to reveal Zen’s Mystery Date. But there is still so much to go on in Zen’s life and lessons to learn about a horse’s world and the racing world and so those will all come in due time. There will no doubt be times when there is a lull in between posts because Zen is probably just horsing around with her gal pals and simply no new news to post. But the waiting will always make it worth while. As Dottie said at the Awards regarding winning HOY, “This is for the fans,”. So not to worry. We haven’t been abandoned. We will hear from Zenyatta soon enough I’m sure. :)
Kathy Kimber
Dear Lady Z,
We are anxiously awaiting anothr post. I expect they won’t come as often but wait we will. I’m so happy for all of you. John you should write a book about your life with Zenyatta and I know Dottie would help with that one. Lots of pictures too.
Who is going to be the new man in your life Z. I know the choice with be a wise one. Do take care. We all love you
Suzanne G
Hi Jim,
I still have high hopes for Zenyatta continuing to be an inspiration and a ‘force for good’ and not being in foal perpetually for the rest of her life. Her ‘family’ has truly honored all of us with this level of communication, pictures and videos. As beautiful as it is, Lane’s End is only her ‘rental’ home. She still belongs to the Mosses who have ALWAYS done right be her. Lane’s End doesn’t have to recognize her, they just have to take good care of her and they seem to do that very well. At least we know where she is and that she looks beautiful and HAPPY. No worries in those eyes (unlike a few other fillies/mares that we’ve seen)! All of us have to keep directing positive thoughts and energy to ‘our’ beautiful girl and I’m sure we’ll be able to stay in touch with her.
ps
Still cannot find Azeri or Ginger Punch. Does anyone have any ideas?
Liz
Congratulations Team Zenyatta. You certainly deserve it. And thank the heavens for this gift that is Zenyatta. She was needed.
Mary
Sympathy to all those involved with the champion mare Miesque. So sad to hear of her passing away at Lane’s End farm.
We grieve because we love horses so much.

WOW! Zanyatta, my life has been looking forward of seeing you and your posts. They make my day—they fill it with a special air of thankfulness and love, I’ve not experienced in my long life. One day Zenyatta, I hope to make it to see you in person and just maybe get to kiss your nose. Wouldn’t that make me happy? You bet!
