Thank you for bloodhorse link. Great article, though I have to respectfully disagree with Haskin stating that it appeared to him the Z’s last days at 55, that she looked ready to move on.. We really don’t know. But what it looks like based on pictures in this article is that Z has moved on with her new life. AND I am happy for her. I believe that she will always be cared for even when her mating years are over. She is a legend.
I hope that Lanes End understands the importance of keeping Z accessible to her fans. And no, I’m not talking at the sacrifice of her health or future babies. What I mean is continuing to post about her (pic/video OR even livecam like some of suggested). She is the best thing that has happen to the racehorse industry in years. I think many over the years have been turned off by racing for many reasons, but for me the MOsses have renewed my faith, that there are caring owners out there.
Congrats to Z and her family.

The Big Beautiful Girl did it!!!!!!!!!
Congrats to your whole team, they are the greatest. I hope Mike feels better now. He felt so bad. Hope to see you when fans are allowed to visit.

I love you Zenyatta, you soo much deserved the horse of the year award, way to go.Your fan always.
Medlocke
I’d personally like to say that the Moss’s and the Shirreff’s have been so gracious and such wonderful ambassadors of this great sport. So gracious in defeat when Zenyatta lost HOY honors in 2009, and again so gracious in victory when the Eclipse Award voters finally did the right thing, and recognized Zenyatta for exactly what she is. The greatest American race-mare ever in the history of American racing. And one of the greatest American thoroughbred’s ever, male or female, bar none!! Team Zenyatta’s actions have always spoken even louder than their words. But that’s the way it should be. A class thoroughbred should have class people involved with them. And that is exactly what Zenyatta and everyone affiliated with her reek of. Nothing but class. On a personal note: I know that A.P.Indy and Curlin both stand stud at Lanes End Farm. And I’ve heard that they are the two candidates being considered to be the first sire bread to Zenyatta? Speaking for myself, it would be an absolute dream come true to hear that Zenyatta is in foal to A.P.Indy. He’s one of, if not the greatest son of the immortal Seattle Slew, and has proven year after year to be at the very top of the sire’s list America. A.P Indy won 8 of his 11 lifetime races, with one 3rd place finish as well. He won the Hollywood Futurity(now the Cash Call Futurity) as a 2yr.old in 1991. In 1992, A.P. Indy won the San Rafael Stakes, the Santa Anita Derby, the Peter Pan Stakes, the Belmont Stakes, and the Breeders Cup Classic. He has sired the likes of greats like Mineshaft, Festival of Light, Music Note, Rags to Riches, and the great Bernardini. Now quite a sought after sire himself. A.P.Indy was North America’s #1 General Sire in 2003 and 2006, and #2 in 2007. He was the leading sire by G1 winners in 2009. And North America’s #1 sire of Graded Stakes Winners in 2005 and 2007. A.P. Indy has sired 127 Stakes Winners. 77 Graded Stakes Winners. And 25 G1 Stakes winners. He’s a proven, top-class sire. That I think would make for a fabulous combination in breeding with Zenyatta. TJMO.

Congratulations…to horse of the new millenium. Neptune Equester, Poseidon, and Diana are exultant as are your fans. Kudos to team Zenyatta for bringing her to this pinnacle!
Jan
Zen you are perfect package. The Mosses have set a new bar in both true appreciation and developement of race horses in you. Everyone last night knew it and were envious. You represent so much now and hopefully to others in the industry from now on. This is how it is done.
Debbie Connell
Way to go, Team Zenyatta!! Victory is sweet for this amazing athlete. I can’t imagine any stallion good enough for you right now – wish my beloved Secretariat was was still alive – he is the only stud that would have been worthy of you, gorgeous girl! Congratulations to everyone connected to this amazing mare – I will be watching for her first foal!
Mar-Gee
I agree with Medlocke that a breeding with A P Indy would be superb! The X-Factor would be perpetuated as their lineages are amazingly complimentary and that goes without saying how spectacularly beautiful the offspring would be. The Mosses can afford the $135,000 fee, I would hope after all the money Zenyatta earned. She deserves the best and A P Indy fills the bill!
Sharon
Dona said it so beautifully – “finally I can let go of the loss at the BC Classic and rest” !!!! I think that’s a great way to describre how I feel now and I bet one Mike Smith will not stop smiling for months and now he too can get a rest from the leftover emotion of that BC day.

Congratulations My Sweet Lady Zenyatta!!!!
I have never known a horse that has such a large FAN FAMILY that loves her so much!
Zenyatta, you truly are a winner in so many ways. I can not tell you enough how proud I am of you and for all the wonderful people who had their hands in developing you into one of the most complete racehorses in racing history. Zenyatta, HOTY!! Just the mention of your name brings a smile to my face and many others. May you always be treated like The Queen you are!! Hugs & Kisses From Alabama With Love, Amanda
Thanks Dottie for the wonderful posts and I pray you never tire of writing them. What would be do without them? We would be so lost to not hear from Zenyatta.
Margaret
Oh Z finally and at last. A wonderful award that you so richly deserve. I’m happy that tptb finally saw through their own biases and did the right thing.
I’d like to think that part of this award was because of your intelligence and willingness to meet your fans! That you chose to respond to the fans cheering by learning your own dance and repeating them time after time.
I wish the best for you sweet Z. I’m sure that the humans on Team Z are still trying to come down after all the excitement of last night. I bet you had a difficult time sleeping after hearing the wonderful news.
I’m so happy for you and for your human connections. We love you sweet girl.
