Congratulations to the Best Team EVER!!! I screamed so loud when they said Zenyatta!! And how classy is Team Zenyatta! Mike Smith said it best when he said This makes it better-it sure does!!!! We love you Zenyatta!!

Congratulations Queen Zenyatta. You are the best of the best and now have HOY to prove it. You oh so deserved it and it would have been a travesty if you lost. Blessings on you and all of your folks. Have a wonderful day.
Sandy
By the time this gets posted, there will be over 600 responses to this great news!! What a THRILL to wake up and find out that you had won HOY!! Congratulations to you, Zenny, and to all of your team. Robbie Pfeufer Kahn got it absolutely right in what she wrote to John (and the same could be said about ALL of those who have loved you and cared for you). I am SO happy for all of you. I had no way of watching the awards, but I hope that somebody was filming it so that eventually, the rest of us might get to see the actual event (even in retrospect) and hear Jerry’s comments. Congratulations to all and love to you! Your Ohio friend, Sandy.

Wow, that was really special. To see most of the team up there being rewarded for all that they’ve done, and most of all you big girl,YOUR CROWN IS COMPLETE!! I feel so much better for Mike, he looked so worried thru the awards, and then to see his face light up knowing his loss (in his mind) might be the cause of you not getting HOTY AGAIN, was so great. Now we wait for the news of who the lucky man will be…….hope it’s AP Indy, he will bring the blood of Secretariat and Seattle Slew into the mix. What could be greater. Rest on your throne MIGHTY QUEEN, your minions await your next request. Luv and Hugs

There was only one possible outcome. You are a star and a gift to all of us. A special beautiful being to walk the earth. I’m just happy I was here to see it! Thanks for the memoris.
Robbie Pfeufer Kahn
To Happy Harriet: I thought your remarks about the condition of a good number of the award recipients was hilarious! It was as if you could see the horseracing industry dying before your very eyes. That is, until Team Z came up to receive their award and the two for Zenyatta. If horseracing is to survive, it would seem that Team Z’s example of how to raise, train, and ride a racehorse must be followed.
Best–Robbie

I was too excited last night to post here, Z…but know I jumped up and down on a bum foot…LOL. I’d really like to thank the Team for what they have done for the sport of horseracing. Zenny, you and your Team have brought it back in front of the fans eyes…thankyou. Watching some clips of the awards, I think some of the owners are realizing how necessary fans are and have made some promises to keep their horses in front of us as well. I’m very excited about the prospect…it would be great for the fans, racetracks, economy, etc. Special thanks to Dottie for all her effort to help you “speak” to us. Heck she even got a post up right after you won! :-) You’re one very special horse. Congrats on HOY!

Carrots, peppermints and don’t forget the Guiness for a proper celebratory meal. I will raise one to you very soon.

Thank you SO much for the link to the footage of the award presentation on NTRA. How special to see the announcement, see so many members of Team Z, and hear Jerry’s comments – especially the tribute at the end!! If you’re reading these comments and didn’t see the link, here it is again:

YOU ARE THE GREATEST. I LOVE YOU Z

I think it helped that Mr. Moss mentioned Zenyatta’s Web page and Facebook page. Comments have exploded and she has over 60,000 FB friends :)

I don’t drink, but this morning, I feel a little hung over from the adrenalin generated last night by the – could it be? – transformation of horse racing industry at the hooves of ZENYATTA!! I’ve already posted, and said too much as usual, but one image just will not leave my mind. Blame’s owner shook his head “no” when Zenyatta’s name was announced. WHAT is wrong with some people! …flicking the memory out of my mind forever… …and looking lovingly towards Her Royal Highness Zenyatta and the most inspired owners, trainers, and the elegant rider, Mike Smith. They are the Gift that Keeps on Giving!

Can’t say any more than what’s just been said. God Bless you big girl.
Ask your folks to publish the calendar words that John spoke at the dinner Sunday night. I want a copy and I’m sure others also. Great!!!!

Zenyatta, I had to wait all day yesterday until the late news came on to see if you won (I don’t have TVG anymore unfortunately). CONGRATULATIONS!! No one ever deserved this award more than you. And back to back female HOTY winners is pretty amazing too. You bring out the emotions in me like no horse ever has, even after all my years of loving this game and the equine stars. I had tears of joy from the news that you won. Another wonderful memory and joyous occasion you’ve given me to add to the bank of happiness you’ve given me and so many others. Zenyatta, you’re the best and I’m so glad it’s been officially awarded to you now.
I hope I can visit you again someday and congratulate you personally. Best of luck on your mommy career path. I love seeing you with your new friends in the paddock and I’ll be following you through a hopefully healthy safe pregnancy and birth.

Joe Drape has an article in today’s NYT titled “Zenyatta Wins Horse of the Year Award.”

Way to go. You deserved it last year too.
Love you.

All Hail the queen, the amazing Zenyatta !! Many congrats to the whole wonderful Team Zenyatta too. After my prayers being answered with Zenyatta getting HOY, I’m hoping someone out there has a commemorative DVD in the works for Zenyatta’s entire career ??
Gloria Jeanne
Way to go Zenyatta and Team!!! I am so very happy for all of you! Everything is all OK now, just like Mike said.
I hope you get to spend the day with your team as they make their way back to California! Enjoy the Moment Zenyatta you earned and then some. All I can really say is FIANLLY!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS !!! We danced around and hugged each other last night. I vowed never to look at another thoroughbred race again unless Zenyatta won.
Question: Could some kind soul please check on Steve C., Andy S., and Jason S. . . . . we are worried for their sanity and wellbeing. YEE HAAA !!!!
Robbie Pfeufer Kahn
Dear Happy Harriet: Another astute observation on your part, this time about Blame’s owner’s response to Zenyatta’s victory. Sportsmanship may also be fading in the horseracing industry. Compare his response to Ann Moss saying about 2008 and 2009 something like “we always hoped.” Another example for the racing industry to follow.

Congratulations, glorious lady. ‘Horse of the Year’ for our Horse of a Lifetime. So very proud to have seen you compete – you are, indeed, a miracle.
Well done, Team Z. Very well done. And many thanks for allowing the fans to take every step of this journey with you.

Congratulations Team Z…..

Thank you so much Sandy. The last portion of Mr. Moss’ acceptance is so touching. It shows how much he loves Zenyatta.

I watched the awards last night, and ecstatic, like everyone else. Now, in retrospect, it actually seems like a blessing that Zenyatta did not win HOTY last year. If Z had won, and the Mosses retired her, we would have been cheated of her third, and glorious, year. Z would not have become quite the icon she is now, nor brought as many new fans, and attention to racing. I believe her final race, her only defeat by inches, was her absolute finest. She overcame sooo much, and her true grit, and greatness never was so evident, as in the Breeders Cup Classic 2010. We all saw that day, the horse that truly was the best. Zenyatta’s incredible story will reverberate throughout racing history. In the end, thank God it all went the way it did…..”everything happens for a reason.” A heartfelt “Thank You”, to all in her loving & supportive team, who made it all possible.

Zen!! You are the most beautiful racehorse I have ever seen!! You deserve this award more than anyone else!! i cried alot when I heard the news, happy tears!!
I love you so much!!

Congrats sweet mare Z. Think you for bringing back the sport of kings. However you are the true Queen. You and your people made America fall in love with horse racing again. This is more than a one year achievement. This is a life time acheivement. Can’t wait to see your first foal.
