Hello everyone,
It is such a gorgeous morning here in California. I am doing great!
John said I might get to do a bit of jogging today…nothing much…just some fun. He wants to keep me happy and let me stretch my legs. I had lots of visitors yesterday afternoon. Ann came out with her sisters to see me and give me a big hug. Jerry is coming to see me this morning. Lucky me!
A friend emailed Dottie and told her there is a campaign amongst my fans going on to support me in the voting for HOTY. They are writing the NTRA. This makes me feel so special. I truly appreciate all of the kindness people are showing me.
I’m also so touched that so many people really appreciate my efforts and accomplishments. I have tried hard during each of the last 3 years. I have done my very best….and it really makes me feel good that people are trying to honor me for my work and accomplishments!
Wow…here comes Mario, Steve, and John! I’m getting ready to have some fun and stretch my legs.
As I have said so many times…I am one very fortunate horse to have so many of YOU loving and supporting me!
Hugs to all of you~

I fear I must disagree with you on one point,Queen Z. It is not YOU, tis US, your fans, who are the fortunate ones. We had the true pleasure of watching you race. I’ll never forget the first Zenyatta race I ever saw – I was hooked from that very moment. The only greater pleasure would be if I got to see you run “in person”.(So you’ll just have to run another year to give me a chance to achieve the ultimate dream!) It is us,your fans, that owe YOU for 3 years of unadultered racing joy. And if you aren’t voted HOTY,there will be rioting in the paddocks across the nation!! And I do think that there should be an award for the horse that’s done the most for racing…. well,of COURSE that would go to YOU,no question. Question is, would there ever be another horse to earn it??
Mr. and Mrs. Moss,I know that you’d like to retire Zenyatta, give her the break she so richly deserves. But please think about it. You all know how much she enjoys running, how much she loves playing to the crowd. She would miss all that if she were to live the life of leisure. She loves her job and it shows. And WE love HER. Please, please give her another year of racing! When she’s not happy anymore,THEN she can become Mama Zen. But I think both Zen and Mike deserve the chance to show that they can still kick some major horse butt. Just THINK about it, please?!? Thanks!!
Love you,Zen!!

FLOAT LIKE A BUTTERFLY
a poem for Zenyatta, the Greatest Racehorse Ever
(Thanks – and apologies! – to Muhammad Ali)
I’m gonna’ float like a butterfly,sting like a bee.
those horses can’t catch what they can’t see.
Now you see me, now you don’t.
They might think they will,
but I know they won’t.
Those other horses think they’re good,
but I’m twice as nice,
As I pass their butts
like they’re frozen in ice.
float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.
You can’t catch The Greatest – My name is QUEEN Z.
Love you, Zenny!!

Have a good morning jog sweet girl, xoxoxoox

LADY Z, You are such a beautiful lady from the inside out. Nobody can hold a candle to you. God has truely blessed us with you. Ms Zenyatta, good morning. Hope your nite was restful. Cannot wait for your next post to hear what you are doing. I love you, Beautiful Zenyatta. Hurry and let us lucky fans know what you are doing, eating and ‘drinking’. You are the greatest, and that sounds small, because you are greater than greatest. Hugs and Love, LIsa g

I agree with so many of you…
Zennie…you’re not done yet! I think you are the best ambassador the horse racing industry could every imagine or hope for. If you’re not aiming to whip some butt on the track…a farewell tour is in order. Maybe, just maybe your magic will be felt again…soon.
Kathy
Zenyatta, run another year. The people can’t let you go yet.
Lets see a match race between Blame and you.
Susan
Dear Z, Im sure you let your owners know if you are ready to retire or not. I trust them with that decision as they have always looked out for what is best for you. They can teach the rest of the racing world so much!
But Z- if you’re going to retire, may I suggest that you whisper the name A.P. Indy in Ann and Jerry’s ear. I saw him in person and he is amazing- and a proven sire. Your half sister was bred to him and her baby brought 4.2 MILLION! I can only imagine how great YOUR baby will be no matter who you’re bred to, but an AP Indy would be a beast. He’s still really handsome after all these years too Z, and about as close to perfection as you can get. I’ve already got the name picked out for a colt or fill too- ZAP!
Love from Kentucky xoxoxo

We decided to take the airplane from Italy to Lousville just to see Zenyatta…And what can we say?? huge, fantastic…Zenyaatta and his avatar Mike are great..and they will always remember…Who is Blame?
marguerite miller
We love you Lady Z! You need to whisper in MIke’s ear that you are ready to settle down and have babies. What a wonderful mom you will be!
Misty
Zenyatta, you have danced into our hearts and we all love you!!! You truly deserve to be Horse of the Year!!! You are an amazing gift from God!!
Bryna Dambrowski
Queen Z – my husband and I just love you – you do the state of California proud and win or lose HOTY you are the best! We would love to come see you in person. Are we allowed to do that even if we are not in horse racing (except for betting that is :)
Kari
Congratulations on a spectacular career and your tremendous 2010 BC Classic run. I’m so glad that Mike brought Zenyatta home safe and uninjured; no other horse deserves Horse of the Year more than you!
As exciting as it would be to see Zenyatta race in 2011, I do hope she is given the retirement she so deserves. Better to retire sound and healthy, and with ONLY one slim loss on an otherwise perfect career, than to risk this beautiful horse’s health and happiness and the chance of another defeat. To race her at age seven would definitely give an advantage to the younger horses she would compete against. Sort of the equivalent of a early-40s adult competing against 20-somethings. Few horses are capable of competing successfully at this relatively advanced age.
Thanks Zenyatta, and to your entire team, for sharing everything and for giving us three exciting and thrilling years!

I love you Zenyatta and I am glad you will get out and run like you love to do, just for fun. I sure jumped to sign the petition for HOTY. I wake up and can picture your beauty, your dance, your remarkable power. Hope to visit you from Wisconsin!! Love

I knew very little about horse racing until YOU came along! Now I am a FAN! I had the privilege of watching YOU run live twice here in CA. As far as HOY, Garrett Gomez said it best sitting on top of Blame…”she’s the greatest horse I’ve ever seen.” I know the decisions about YOU continuing to compete are going to be difficult…I know I am not ready to see YOU retire along with your other devoted fans…Good Luck Queen Z and your connections. God Bless!
Deanna Martin
You are such a joy to watch. You have helped to heal so many hearts that were grieving the tragic loss of Barbaro.
Diana
DON’T GO!!!!! Z,you take my breath away and like it says in a country song, those are the memories that mean the most. (I know you know a little something about music) Lope to victory a couple more times while it warms up back east. You are the greatest equine ambassador EVER!
Jane
Hello again, beautiful girl!
When people mention Barbaro’s name, it makes me think of two things: one, when Barbaro died, I was never, ever going to support thoroughbred racing again. But you, sweetie, changed that for me and a lot of other people just by being the horse you are.
And the second thing is – Barbaro’s sire, Dynaformer. He isn’t getting any younger, and what babies you could make with him! I’m sure, given your pedigree, that your family has thought of him – you have the lines he does the best with, Nashua, Native Dancer and Mr Prospector on your sire’s side, Nashua and Hyperion on your dam’s. And Barbaro himself, the same heart of a champion and look in the eye that you have, and in spite of being your size, he got going fast out of the gate. Mmmm, mmmm.
I admit I’d like to see you race again, but at seven, you might not be as fast as you are at six. I wouldn’t care at all about that, but there is always the risk…I don’t care what anyone says mean about Mike Smith, it was a good race and he brought you home SAFE. That’s fairy tale ending enough for me.
Love you, Z!

plez keep the post coming! Maybe the world should take notice that …. We have all fallen for and supported someone (4 legged) who is honest in the way she approaches her professional and personal life, works hard, is kind and respectful to those who come to see her, shows appreciation for those around her, has fun in life and acted no differently when things did not go the way she wanted. Those around her exhibit similar traits . We have humanized Zenyatta … And she deserves it.
Chrissy
Glad to hear you are doing well Zennie. Please keep up this blog…you have so many fans who want to know how you are doing…including myself. I was wondering…do you have a boyfriend yet? :) As for Horse of the Year, I do not see how you cannot win. You deserve this more than any other horse…how many other horses can see they have thousands of fans lining up just to see them graze. You deserve it and I sincerely hope you get it.
Maria
Very nice article about our Queen. Enjoy reading it.

Hello to you and all of your buddies. Gosh you are having so many visitors. I think it is sooo wonderful. Wish I could stop by, but it is a long way to come over. I hope you will give us plenty of notice if there is going to be a party of any kind to honor you there at Hollywood Park. I will have to fly there and I know a lot of others will too and that takes a bit of planning.
Please thank your dear friend Dottie for helping you with your diary. I love reading it and all the wonderful messages that your fans are sending .
Hope you had a fun jog . Enjoy your visitors!
Love you !

Hola Chica, awesome Senorita…. so you are out jogging… way good thing…. was it fun? I signed the HOTY right away and if you don’t get it, we think the agency that gives that trophy should shut down and go away…. we already know you are the greatest there ever was, because we got to see you… and awesome you are! the other horses we know in pictures and stories but we don’t know them, you linda, we do know so well.. oh and you smell so good… Dottie is doing a fantastic job… what a lovely person and all your connections are so gracious…. we can’t get enough of you… Mike is a great jockey, and he loves you and we love him… have a great day, another sunny California day…. don’t go to Kentucky it is too cold there……. our weather rules. Make some appearances at the tracks if you don’t want to run and that will bring people out, an ambassador….Bye for now…

Hi Zenyatta, got the idea from you. Sometimes people speak to loudly and it bothers me, so now I have cotton in my ears and with me all the time…… I just pop in two cotton balls and it is fine… I grew up around horses and animals and they generally don’t like loud noises… thanks for the tip. Do you think the cotton balls come in colors?
Deanne
Hey Zenyatta….I am soooo glad to see that you are doing great! I loved being there with you at Churchill Downs..it will forever be the most memorable moment of my life. Your presence there was truly undescribable. I love you so much and thanks for all that you have done. Because of you Zenyatta..this world is a better place. You leave beautiful, positive, uplifting hoofprints wherever you go and you have certainly left one on my heart. My sign that I made for you at Churchill Downs said: LONG LIVE THE QUEEN ZENYATTA!!! Love You Z..and NO QUESTION….YOU ARE HORSE OF THE YEAR!!!!

The beautiful, loving, playful, “Super Star”, Magnificent Mare you are….that’s Zenyatta and the girl loves to run! It’s been such a joy to watch you race and do your little prance for your fans. You deserve “Horse of the Year 2010” and I have been one of your fans supporting you on NTRA. Good luck Zenyatta!
