Hello everyone,
It is such a gorgeous morning here in California. I am doing great!
John said I might get to do a bit of jogging today…nothing much…just some fun. He wants to keep me happy and let me stretch my legs. I had lots of visitors yesterday afternoon. Ann came out with her sisters to see me and give me a big hug. Jerry is coming to see me this morning. Lucky me!
A friend emailed Dottie and told her there is a campaign amongst my fans going on to support me in the voting for HOTY. They are writing the NTRA. This makes me feel so special. I truly appreciate all of the kindness people are showing me.
I’m also so touched that so many people really appreciate my efforts and accomplishments. I have tried hard during each of the last 3 years. I have done my very best….and it really makes me feel good that people are trying to honor me for my work and accomplishments!
Wow…here comes Mario, Steve, and John! I’m getting ready to have some fun and stretch my legs.
As I have said so many times…I am one very fortunate horse to have so many of YOU loving and supporting me!
Hugs to all of you~
Z

Queen Z. I will never forget the joy you’ve brought over these past three years and your performance at the Breeders Cup was absolutely incredible! Always and forever – the CHAMPION in the hearts of so very many.
Mary Jo
Hey Z, I have been following you for a long, long time, and you never disappoint me, not even last weekend. You were fantastic. We rushed to Churchill Sunday morning to see you when we heard on television they were letting the fans see you between 8-9. However, the guard wouldn’t let us in! Said we couldn’t see you. So, much disappointment in that! I am hoping Ann and Jerry decide to race you again next year. I think that is what makes you happy, so hoping for one more year! Love ya!

Hi Zenyatta… no you just not tried, you did your best and it is unbelievable what you accomplished.. breathtaking.. yes, it is a gorgeous day today and we want your connections to let you stay in this beautiful weather, where else can you get a day like today? Also, for the guy who wrote about Mike, here is my reply “It takes a couple of years to learn how to talk and a lifetime to learn discretion and know when to keep quiet.” Mike rules big time….. go stretch your gorgeous gams.

I have been so moved by Zenyatta. The girl & her people show us the way to live a life well lived.
I have been so moved by Zenyatta I wrote to the NTRA to attempt to explain to them what a valuable gift they have. Here is my email:
Hi,
I don’t know the intricacies of horse racing. I lived across the street from Bay Meadows in San Mateo & never went once. I have lived in Southern California since 1977 & never went to the tracks but once when the L.A. Fair was on. But I went to Hollywood Park on October 2nd to see Zenyatta.
Wow, what a fun day I had. They gave me more tickets & I returned. My point is Zenyatta is your Horse Of The Year. No horse has done more for your sport since Secretariat. Oh my gosh, if the people who vote for this don’t have a unanimous, hands down, no contest Zenyatta #1 you are missing a tremendous opportunity.
I understand there is a East Coast bias & your folks consider yourself superior as demonstrated by the obnoxious man who owns the horse that beat Zenyatta. It will be very interesting to see if this sport recognizes what a gift they have in Zenyatta. I say this because this will affect if I continue on with my horse racing interest.
Thank you for your time,
Linda Craig

Sounds like a great way to spend the day, Zenyatta! Still hope you are mulling over some commercials either for Guinness, the horse-racing industry or maybe Dancing with the Stars. Stay safe, and happy. Lotsa love!

Zenyatta, your valiant effort at the Breeders Cup was amazing and I’m just sad that you will be retiring because seeing you run is the thrill of a lifetime. You are regal and awe inspiring. Hopefully you will let us know what you’re doing because those of us who love you will always want to know.

Hi Queen Z,
What a thrill to watch you race. Goose bumps every time. We will miss you.

You are the best Lady Z!!

Dear Zenyatta, please pass along a big thanks to your humans for us — not only for the skill with which they nurtured your talent, but for the impeccable care they give you and the love they clearly show. I’ve written to the NTRA on your behalf, though before you, I wouldn’t have known what NTRA stood for to save my life. I don’t understand how it’s even possible for anyone who’s seen you race to debate this year’s HOTY, and you’ve never moved us more than in that last Breeder’s Cup. Blame may have won, but in that race, the Champion came in second. Rumor has it your people are considering another race, and though I long to see you take another whole field in the last stretch (I could watch that all day long), what I want most is for you to retire sound. Even in losing that last race you left nothing to prove, but we trust your people here. Whether you race again or retire, you are The Queen — the greatest race horse we’ve ever seen.

I not only loved kissing your sweet nose, I always love watching the joy you bring to everyone else. HOY? At the VERY LEAST! I hope the “powers that be” are being very vigilant and realize, dear Zen, that if they turn their backs on you again this year, so many of us shall be happy to turn OUR backs on racing! We just will not tolerate your being snubbed again. Then, when the industry fails, they can all sit around and wonder whom to Blame!!!!! THAT is the power your goodness and greatness can wield. Love you, Great Mare.

You’re easy to love Ms. Z…and so are all your humans!
Deb Barnes
Dear Z, I would love to see you as HOTY and signed the petition, but more than that, I just want to see you happy. Sounds like your humans are working on that. You have all given us so much happiness. Thank you!

Zenyatta,
You are the BEST EVER! How can you not win HOTY? Looking forward to hearing who we can petition. If the racing fans of the world could vote, it would be NO CONTEST!! I love your diary and look forward to hearing what you’re doing. Stay well & happy!
Louise Bland
Seems I can’t let you go, Zenyetta. I won’t you for my pen pal, forever. Hugs and kisses.

I love reading your diaries and am so happy that they have been opened for discussion so that all of us that love and adore you can voice our opinions and give you the love that you gave us so freeley! Always keep us informed, please! We love you and your team so very much! You have done more than any other horse since Secretariat, for this dying sport! Again, thank you!
