Good Morning Everyone,
I hope all of you are well and enjoying the MARCH MADNESS FUN…both in College Basketball and OUR CONTEST. The 64 teams are playing the first round right now just like we will do in our first round. We will start with 64 LUCKY CARDS to be selected from all of them that are submitted. From those 64, the next draw will be to select 32 from that group of 64. This is just like after the first round of 64 teams play in the real March Madness, it will then go to 32 teams for the next part of the tournament. So much fun!
I’m giving you some time to think about what you’d like to write. Please get your cards ready. I’ll be posting the address to mail them to next week.
On a very sweet note, I wanted to share this photo with you of MY DEAR OWNER. John took it yesterday morning at Barn 55 when he came out to visit some of his horses and spend the morning with all of my Barn 55 friends. It is so special! As you can see, JOHN still has my stall there…JUST FOR ME! So many of my cherished photos and keepsakes are there. It is all so very touching!
In looking at this picture, I wonder what MY DEAR JERRY is thinking? I’m sure he misses seeing my face peaking out of the stall and hanging out with me on the grass while I was grazing. Yet, on the other hand, I know he is so pleased that I am happy, healthy, and enjoying every moment of my new life at Lane’s End. I have truly been blessed to have the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.
HMMMM! Upon reflection, I wonder what HE would write on his postcard if he was doing one for our contest? I BET I KNOW. He’d tell everyone THAT HE IS SO VERY PROUD OF ME AND THAT HE LOVES ME A WHOLE BUNCH!!
LUCKY ME!
Enjoy your DAY!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z

I’d like to see this next time I’m at HP!
Jeanne from Texas
I have to agree with every word Rhonda Clements said, she said it all so eloquently. We miss you running Zenyatta; I wish they would have done you like they do the Quarter Horses and let another mare carry your baby for you. Selfish of me yes, but I just can’t say enough how much I miss seeing you on the track. I saw where Gio Ponti is going to run in Dubai and we all know you outran him….I just have to remember your running in my dreams. What great dreams they are! Have a great weekend Zenny! Luv you!
Sheri
I can’t wait to take part in your contest Zenny!!! By the way, when you say “postcard,” do you mean like an actual postcard or can we just use a sheet of paper? haha love you Zenyatta! :D

There isn’t really any horse that can fill your stall and John knows that I’m glad it is there for people to come and see. You will always be a big part of Barn 55. Jerry and Ann are so blessed and so wonderful to have shared you with all of us. You and Baby Girl/or Boy have a wonderful day enjoy the nicer weather. Are any of your gal pals in foal not trying to be pushy but we would all like top know they are family too. How are the ladies at the Zenyatta Lounge doing I loved hearing about them. How is your dear Mario. Thank you Ann you are some
sweetie. Getting my post cards ready. I never win anything but it is going to be fun and I’m looking forward to expressing myself. Hugs

@Jeanne from Texas, not possible. In order to be registered by the Jockey Club, TBs have to be conceived by live cover, and embryo transfer is not allowed. This is true not only in the U.S. but in other countries as well. So, if her baby is to race she must carry and birth it herself. I wouldn’t worry about her though. She has the temperament to be a great mother.
Kay
Zenny you are indeed one very lucky and magnificient creature. Unfortunately, other beautiful and magnificent creatures have not been as lucky to have such compassionate people in their lifes. Please keep these animals in your heart and prayers.

I can see her stall turning into a shrine or the Zenyatta Museum! Great idea to post fan art, posters and memorabilia of the Queens Reign! I can’t wait to visit you in Kentucky, Z!

What a sweet picture. I can imagine him smiling with the memories of it all as he takes a look around your stall. I am smiling as I think about it. And yeah, spring break!!! I teach high school and for the next week I get to enjoy life without grading papers. I’ll get to cross my fingers that the first of our mares will foal, and ride some of our young ones.
Pat Beck
Too sadly beautiful (or beautifully sad). I treasure all you brought to our lives. this picture captures some of that.

So happy for Jerry to and Team Z to reflect on the great one, our beloved Z!

Happy Friday Zenny! What do you and the gals have planned for the weekend? Should be a great on! Luv to you !

Gosh – I miss seeing Zenyatta run as much as anyone but really she has earned her retirement! She isn’t retired so she can reproduce. She is being bred because she is retired!
Especially Horses
I remember reading something along the sentiment of “Sometimes when just one person is missing the whole world seems unpopulated”. I bet at times for Jerry, when standing in Z’s empty stall a similar emotion must surge through him, if only for a fleeting moment.
Jean
So much love for you Z……And you deserve it.

This is one hard contest to enter,Zenny. It’s SO hard to put into words what watching you race meant to me, what makes you special to me….. I was always a good writer in school, but I just can’t find the words for this! And the “reward” for this is SO much better and means so much more than any A I’ve ever gotten on a writing assignment! Love you,Sweet Zen!!

I’m sure he misses seeing you in your stall and on the track. You were beautiful inside and out and even though you are now in Lane’s End, I’m sure everyone associated with you in California misses you greatly.
Diana
What a very moving picture, and I certainly understand how it serves to remind everyone of what a very special girl you are. You are loved bunches by your Team and all of us! Hugs and kisses!

Have a happy week-end Zenyatta. Can’t wait to see how many postcards you get. You and the team are right this will be such fun…just another way to keep us all close to you! love to all: )

I noticed there is straw on the floor, did you not have shavings? So nice to know that there are nice racehorse owners out there who truly care about their animals and have a relationship with them.

Zenyatta, bittersweet says it all. Hugs and Prayers

Hi Zenny, the pic is very moving. I know Jerry, all of Team Z and your fans love you very much. Maybe someday your foal will be in that stall. That would be special!
Thanks for having the contest! It is going to be fun!
Have a nice evening.
Love to all,

Thanks for the NY Times link. I’d bet my first born the cause was mismanagement of funds from TRF. What needs to happen is someone needs to open the books AND the current board needs to be removed.
.
This also tells me that there are way too many TB that are being bred. Sadly, this will never be resolved until there is some kind of consensus amongst breeders. Don’t know how breeders would feel about my opinion but it just seems like the responsible thing to do IMHO. I don’t know, maybe horse industry really doesnt have an issue with the way things are now (slaughterhouses). Wonder how people would feel if we instituted the same practice for unwanted dogs/cats.? Just a thought.
…..
Have a questions, if it can be answered, does anyone know how many TB foals are produced every year?
…..
And speaking of horses, wonder how horses in Japan will fair with high radiation readings?

The week end is here, enjoy yourself Lady Z. I just finished reading the latest entry on Abigail Anderson’s blog. She puts up great Profiles of horses. Check it out if you haven’t it’s well worth the time.

WOW!! Zenny, what an honor it is to be blessed with TWO of my photos hanging in YOUR shrine!! (one hangs outside next to your X-Mas stocking, and the other inside!) It was MY pleasure to give you and yours a chuckle and a smile – but nothing can compare to what you have given back to all of us Z fans!! Sorry Jerry and Ann, but you know that Zenny is no longer yours, really – you no longer have Zenyatta – the people have her!! I think all would agree that as the REAL owners of Zenny, none other could have been better for her – but it is the fans now who have replaced you! She will be now and forever to come – ours. We will keep her legend alive – for ages – even for those who, in the future, never got the chance to feel her, kiss her, cheer for her, spend time just watching her – taking away a new meaning out of this life on Earth, just her blessing us all with her presence on and off the track. The new life she breaths over us is …. well, you finish, please….no words can justify, except what you have in your hearts. So, you see, she is OURS to cherish and love more and more and more each passing day….forver, for the ages. I love you more Zenny!!! love and hugs to all!! Love, Karen Long Beach
