Good Morning Everyone,
I hope all of you are well and enjoying the MARCH MADNESS FUN…both in College Basketball and OUR CONTEST. The 64 teams are playing the first round right now just like we will do in our first round. We will start with 64 LUCKY CARDS to be selected from all of them that are submitted. From those 64, the next draw will be to select 32 from that group of 64. This is just like after the first round of 64 teams play in the real March Madness, it will then go to 32 teams for the next part of the tournament. So much fun!
I’m giving you some time to think about what you’d like to write. Please get your cards ready. I’ll be posting the address to mail them to next week.
On a very sweet note, I wanted to share this photo with you of MY DEAR OWNER. John took it yesterday morning at Barn 55 when he came out to visit some of his horses and spend the morning with all of my Barn 55 friends. It is so special! As you can see, JOHN still has my stall there…JUST FOR ME! So many of my cherished photos and keepsakes are there. It is all so very touching!
In looking at this picture, I wonder what MY DEAR JERRY is thinking? I’m sure he misses seeing my face peaking out of the stall and hanging out with me on the grass while I was grazing. Yet, on the other hand, I know he is so pleased that I am happy, healthy, and enjoying every moment of my new life at Lane’s End. I have truly been blessed to have the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.
HMMMM! Upon reflection, I wonder what HE would write on his postcard if he was doing one for our contest? I BET I KNOW. He’d tell everyone THAT HE IS SO VERY PROUD OF ME AND THAT HE LOVES ME A WHOLE BUNCH!!
LUCKY ME!
Enjoy your DAY!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

Z et al, Such a bitter-sweet photo. We all cherish the lovely Zenyatta and all she continues to offer us.
Nancy
Zenyatta, you will always be noticed and never forgotten! You are a ICON. xxoo N.
Debbie
Hi Z! We are all proud of you and love you bunches&bunches&bunches!!!!!! What a precious photo, I’m sure Jerry misses you sooo much!!! love you xoxoxo
Linda
Yes he does and so do alot of others. The one thing he really did for us was open up your world to us. I have noticed alot of other trainers are now doing that for their horses. What a great way to open the world up for all of us.
Tory Brad
Looks like a wonderful place to spend some time thing about YOU <3
Dawn Deems
Awwwww! That photo brought tears to my eyes. Very touching.
Sandra Frey
Zenyatta! I have so many ideas for your card contest! Hope you are doing well – I work not far down the road from where you are at Lane’s End. I used to work with the “numbers” guy at Lane’s End – Thomas is a super guy! I hope you are doing well and having fun with the warmer days of spring upon us. The grass is starting to green up and you are going to love the beautiful blooms of spring in Kentucky. Take care – I’m off to have my hair and nails done! xoxox
Cheryl
I imagine Jerry, John, Mario, Ann, Dottie and all the people that were involved with you at Barn 55 misses you SO MUCH! You are so wonderful and special! I pray for you each day. Wish you great health and happiness! Love the posts, I just devour them and hope to see them continue. Love to you forever!
Fran
Oh Z, your stall in CA is a shrine to you. I know John misses you a lot. Jerry probably likes to just stand in your stall as it makes him feel closer to you. I bet, too, if Jerry wrote a post card, he would tell you how just so very happy that he had the opportunity to be your owner, that you have blessed his and Ann’s life, and he is so proud of your contribution, your kindness, and your love. Have a wonderful day Z. Oh, I read a horrible article about the organization that was to help retired race horses. I was horrified that what was meant for the retirement and loving care has failed miserably, and horses are being starved and many have died. The one charity that I thought would take care of horses has actually destroyed them. I am so sad about the situation, and I have no idea how to solve it-i am just one person. Anyway, Z, I am so happy that you are loved and taken care of in your retirement. xxoo

What a moving photo.I think we all will miss you racing and have mixed emotions for a long time. I know how much I miss seeing you race. I am full of joy you are healthy and happy. It must still be difficult at times for all of your beloved Team-Z. You are so loved. I am sooo proud of you and grateful I got to follow your career and actually witness 2 of your races. Have a great day…and may the sweet Kentucky bluegrass grow fast, thick and plush for you and your gals this spring. I will always love you Zenyatta!

It is so bittersweet, I am so happy that you are healthy and well and cannot wait to see the little baby Z, but I sure do miss seeing you run. It is harder I think because we all know you were something that once in a lifetime horse and that means we who were blessed to see you run will never again see anything as magnificent as our Queen Zenyatta. I am so glad I was one of the blessed who got to see the miracle that you are. I would guess Jerry feels in many ways the same, he has other horses sure, but there is only one Zenyatta and not other horse will ever measure up to you sweet girl, not in our lifetime I am sure. So we all know the thrill you brought to us all on the track will never be recreated in our lifetimes. We love you Zenny.

I bet Jerry is saying what a wonderful mare you are!!! How much he misses seeing you everyday!!! Hope your teams are winning in the March Madness!! Love you Queen Z!!! Hugs and Kisses from Roswell,NM!!
Andrea from Germany
You ´re a very special horse, no one can take your place and so your stall is still empty. Love your connection for loving you so much, same for Mike and his gentle touch. Love you Zenny.
Jenna
The second I saw this photo, my heart broke a little. John must really be touched when he walks into the stall and looks around. I’d miss her, too. Even though he’s busy, he must think about her all the time. :(
But Z is most happy and on to the next chapter. A very happy horse chapter. :)
Jenna
I hope they leave the shrine intact for a long long time.
Dani
I think I will steal Jerry’s comment about you and use it as my own on my postcard. (Just kidding!!) :) The picture is lovely yet bittersweet but all the while brings a smile as well. I’m so happy they have kept your stall as is and so happy you shared this photo with us. How hard it must be for your family and Team Z to visit or work in Barn 55 and not see your beautiful face greeting everyone as they pass by. I think tears would well up in my eyes everytime I walked by it. Seeing your face could brighten up even the saddest soul. You are beyond special. I better stop. I am beginning to write up my own postcard right here. Have a happy weekend munching fresh sprouts of grass and running about with your friends and maybe a nice mud bath to cleanse the pores. Charles and company will probably follow that up with a spic ‘n span bath which we know you love so much judging by those recent photos. :)

Wonderful picture Zenny! Too cute! March Madness is great so far! Very exciting. Have a super day honey! Hugs from all of us in Brazil, IN!

Yes, you are a most lucky girl to have such wonderful owners. MABE the next horse to occupy your stall will be your very own baby.
Cheryl Smith
Oh how sweet your post are. I can not imagine the hole in Jerry’s heart each time he goes to Barn 55. Your owners are fantastic for sharing you with us. I appreciate that so much. Thank them for us with a great big Zenyatta Kiss! I hope you are feeling well. How are the banana’s coming? Thank you for being you! You are THE QUEEN!
Allen
Z you are so special to everyone. You have touched the hearts of so many people. I am sure Jerry and everyone else on Team Z miss you, but they are also happy you retired sound, and you are happy in your new carrer. Z we all miss you, and we are all waiting for the day when Lanes End will let you have visitors. Have a great weekend Z and enjoy the spring weather. Love from everyone in Tennessee.
Lauren
Dear Zenny and Baby Z – What a beautiful picture – as you can see not only are you loved by your family in California – you are loved by so many of us here who post comments on your site. I think that your old stall could possibly be a nice home for Baby Z. Wouldn’t that be darling. Just like you – Too Cute!!!. Sorry Louisville lost – I know that they are a Kentucky team. Love and kisses beautiful girl. xoxoxo
Linda McGill
Z, you are without a doubt, the most beloved horse in America! It is really great that your Team has made it possible for you to remain a daily part of our lives even though your “public”career has ended. We share you and your team’s joy in your retirement and your new career as a broodmare. I love your daily “chats!” (thank Dottie for helping you, please). You are an inspiration to all who love horse racing and now you’re helping everyone experience where racing starts-in the breeding shed. Keep up the great experience that is Team Zenyatta. You are loved!!!!

Hope Jerry enters the contest! LOL!
Love you, Zenny.

One solution for something sad collapsing in horse rescue care, is to contact TROTTSoCal, mentioned for March 2011, as Mike Smith`s FB page ‘Charity for the Month of March.’ Bonnie Adams, and a remarkable network of lay-up, re-training and adoption facilities offer capacities at-the-ready, just lacking consistent, responsible contributors to rely upon; the more consistent, smaller contributions actually make as much of a difference as larger, single donations, though, of course, all are welcome. Earlier, I made a contribution to honor a beloved family member`s love of horses. More recently, other reasons to support TROTTSoCal, rewarded me more than I can say. Mike`s notes on TROTT are in two places on his FB page & http://trottusa.org/ is the opening page for a group that is ‘Training Racehorses Off The Track,’ with love and expertise.

It would be so hard to see another horse in your stall – I’m sure Jerry, Ann, John, Dottie, Mario and all miss you very much – every so often I just go to one of your races to watch you run – it was just magical – wish we could have “frozen” you in time to run forever but that’s not life so we look forward to watching you run with your foal. Looking forward to the contest just as I look forward to every post. Sorry Louisville lost, my team lost also!
Henrietta Wolfe
I think he will miss you forever. In many ways, I am sure, his heart is sad. Sometimes moving on is not so easy. People and animals that have been in our lives are hard to let go of. I kind of wish you still lived in sunny CA. so Mrs. Moss and John could be with you everyday. You are doing well and that is what we all want. I am enjoying the basketball and I know you are. Lots left to go yet. Your Louisville team almost made it.Great job by UCLA, GO BRUINS!!!! Put your hoofs together for them. (*_*) I love you Z, YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!
Maryann
Hope you had a fabulous St. Patricks Day. Did you get your Guinness?
Love you Z

Too Cute!! I think it’s great that Jerry came by to visit your stall. It made me smile and then cry knowing how you touched so many people there. I am very happy that you are Happy in your new home. What a cute photo this is. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Have a Great Zenny! Love you! Miss YOU!!! Hugs
