Happy Sunday Morning,
I am so excited! A car is driving up the road…and I think it is my CA FAMILY.
I can’t wait to see everyone. I have so many things to tell them…and to share with them. They have not seen me in the paddock with my friends. I know they have met them in the barn area on their last visit, but they have not personally seen all of us out there playing and running together.
I also want them to see how fabulous my ‘winter coat’ looks and how I am adjusting so well to my new lifestyle.
In turn, I want a complete update on ALL of my BARN 55 friends and how they are doing.
I know JOHN will have tons of photos to share with all of you once he gets back to LA.
After our visit…my CA FAMILY will be off to FLORIDA for the ECLIPSE AWARDS. They take place on Monday night. You may watch them on TVG.
At this time, I personally want to thank all of you for all of your LOVE AND SUPPORT! PLEASE…keep your fingers crossed! I know one thing for sure, I know I could not be the horse I AM without the HELP and LOVE of so many people.
Like I said in yesterday’s DIARY…I AM SO PROUD TO KNOW ALL OF YOU!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL!
Z

Horse of the Year is too small of a title for you. You are more like Horse of the Century. So it doesn’t matter what happens tomorrow; you are still the best!
Gerrie P.
Your competitors for HOY are magnificent. Who could possibly fault their achievements?
Still, there is only room for one HOY winner. Zenyatta, you alone posses so many unique characteristics that add to your unequaled racing year and career. I personally was transformed to another place in space when you made that tremendous gallant drive down the stretch in the BC on your way to the wire. I couldn’t even scream and cheer for you. I was transfixed on your noble body. What power, what focused expression on your beautiful face, as you ran down each runner such as I will never forget. It was your race, just like the other 19 races you dominated.
So yes, if perhaps others failed to see, well, it is after all, their loss.
Queen Zenyatta, Horse of the Year, and so much more.
Gloria Jeanne
Best of Luck! Love you lots!
Happy Harriet
Dear Zennie – You are the Horse of a Lifetime and the People’s Queen. While the voters for Monday night’s awards fade into oblivion, your star will only rise higher, and live forever. You and your enlightened DREAM TEAM are models for heart, soul, and success in any profession, and especially thoroughbred racing. Your influence and that of your visiting California Family will inspire the sport for decades to come. And there’s no prettier horse anywhere! When we saw you in the paddock at Hollywood Park, you glowed from within with good health, love, and a special spirit that is beyond the earthly plane. No wonder John wrote “Angel” on your forehead. xxxooo from your California Cousins. :)

Zenny, (that’s our nickname for you in my house!) we LOVE I read your comments every day. Every night, before we go to bed, we look forward to seeing what you (and Dottie) have waiting for us to read. They are entertaining posts, as well as educational. They make me miss my days on the backside. This has become part of our nightly routine and we love following your diary! Thanks so much for sharing all of these with us!
To Dottie: I want you to know that your humor, insight, and writing have become very precious to my husband and myself and thank you for taking the time to do this for all of Zenny’s fans! You are a great writer! Good luck to all of Team Zenyatta at the Eclipse Awards and thank you for making her so accessible to all of her fans!
jim
david flores rode z for three races. they entered her and flores had a commitment to another horse. he chose the other. believe me he regrets it.

Dearest Queen-Z & Team-Z,
Your new picture is lovely, but it looks so COLD!! Is that snow ever going to melt ?? Hope the visit with your TEAM-Z was all you were hoping for, and then some! If you say so, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you all tonight, as far as the Eclipse Awards go. Thats the least I can do for my favorite race horse, ever!! Actually, Z and Team-Z have done all that’s needed to be “Horse of the Decade”, so how meaningless the Eclipse Award would become, if the voters didn’t give you HOTY!?!
I had a wonderful day,on Sunday, at Santa Anita. The weather was fabulous. Blind Luck didn’t win, but she looked happy in the paddock. I think she’ll, also, win an Elipse Award, tonight. Best wishes to you both.
Best warm wishes to you, Zenyatta and Team-Zentucky. Hugs, too. Fondly, OraJean

There’s no losing anything at this point you have captured all our hearts.

Good luck, Team Z! I especially liked posts by Sharon (all the “awards” and wave), Bob & Kelley Rose, Mary Jane, Kathryn Cogswell (on Yogi Berra), Christine Coleman, The Kennedys in San Diego, Lauren, Jenna, and Gerrie P. I’m frankly amazed at the volume and unanimity of feeling about Z here, day after day after day. I mean, I long since knew I felt this way, but I didn’t know just how many others did, in a dedicated fashion, until I started reading here (and on FB) daily. If only all our wishes could make a difference in the outcome later tonight…. I console myself that come what may, Zenny herself does not really know or care about “the big award”, as she’s got more important things to attend to in her life — and hey, she DID her part of the job already, whether some possibly deranged humans “got it”, or not.

I’ll be watching and rooting for you tonight Zenny! The BEST of Luck!!!!
For those of you that are interesting in a stallion for Zenyatta here is a fun place where you can see who may be considered the best crosses for the big gal!
http://truenicks.com/stallions/subscribed-stallions
Click on a stallion of your choice and it will bring up that stallion + the farm he is on and their other stallions. At the bottom type in Zenyatta. This will cause a window to appear and you have to choose which Zenyatta (there are 5) Ours is the one by Street Cry x Vertigineux, 3rd one down. Click on that and then click on get my ratings. Keep in mind that the A+++, A++, and A+ ratings are ‘considered the best’ and those down in the B,C and D’s are not considered so great. However if one is looking for certain qualities to improve ar add to a line they may choose a worthy stallion that may not be considered such a good cross. Mating at best is a guessing and praying game!
So enjoy the link and have some fun!
Nancy
Whether you win HOY award or not, you are Horse of the Decade to a lot of us. You and your team have brought an excitement back to horse racing that hasn’t been there since Secretariat. You are the best of the best in our hearts!

Today is your day little lady! Its a Zenyattingly Beautiful Day! I am so excited for the awards and such but what really makes me happy is to always be able to find out how you are doing! Dont let those other horses kick or bite! It will leave marks on your coat that might stay white. Tell them to play nice!
Jenna
Today is the day. Today is the day.
First, HOY results then the finding out Zenyatta’s chosen one. This is all so exciting. In my heart, you are the horse of the year..the decade, the century. You’ll always be the best.
Happy Monday, Z & D. Zendotti!
Katherine
Best of luck to Team Z today. No horse is more deserving of HOY than you Zenyatta. You and your entire team are magnificent.
Jenna
@NancyJS: I was also thinking Blame’s claim to fame will be for beating Zenyatta. How sad. A great horse, nonetheless. When I visit the stables this summer (I realize Zenyatta will likely not be taking visitors), I would like to be able to visit Blame. :>

Good morning beautiful Zenny. I have been on pins & needles for two weeks now in anticipation of tonights Eclipse Awards Ceremony. Sending positive thoughts, wishes & prayers in your direction “Z”. They reprinted Joe Drape’s great story on the front page of today’s Herald Leader…Ukiah, Falcon Scott(Whose picture was on the NYTimes front page yesterday..that’s Robert Falcon Scott), Cherono and all the rest of your Old Friends hope justice is served this evening. If not, it just indicates another failure of the sport that continues to survive in spite of the leadership and because of these remarkable athletes.

The big day has finally arrived. I will be watching TVG and holding my breath as I did when the finish line was fast approaching and YOU were charging up on the outside like a freight train. It was so cool the way your running style made You totally visible so your fans could watch your every stride. Prayers & Good Luck Wishes to You and your remarkable Team Z tonight. If you do not win HOTY it will not change a thing about our feelings for you – the turf writer’s however – this would be SHAME not BLAME. We, your loyal fans have a dream for you tonight. Let us all pause to remind ourselves on this day why it is a national holiday and take a few moments to remember “The Dream” of another from a different chapter in our country’s storied but not always pleasant history, the Rev. Martin Luther King. PEACE & LOVE TO ALL
Rosemarie Cola
Good luck tonight Z! You should be a three time Horse of the Year if you ask me, but what can I do. I would be the crime of the century if they don’t give it to you tonight. Lets hope we don’t get robbed again. Zenyatta Horse of the Year 2011!!!!!!!
