Happy Sunday Morning,
I am so excited! A car is driving up the road…and I think it is my CA FAMILY.
I can’t wait to see everyone. I have so many things to tell them…and to share with them. They have not seen me in the paddock with my friends. I know they have met them in the barn area on their last visit, but they have not personally seen all of us out there playing and running together.
I also want them to see how fabulous my ‘winter coat’ looks and how I am adjusting so well to my new lifestyle.
In turn, I want a complete update on ALL of my BARN 55 friends and how they are doing.
I know JOHN will have tons of photos to share with all of you once he gets back to LA.
After our visit…my CA FAMILY will be off to FLORIDA for the ECLIPSE AWARDS. They take place on Monday night. You may watch them on TVG.
At this time, I personally want to thank all of you for all of your LOVE AND SUPPORT! PLEASE…keep your fingers crossed! I know one thing for sure, I know I could not be the horse I AM without the HELP and LOVE of so many people.
Like I said in yesterday’s DIARY…I AM SO PROUD TO KNOW ALL OF YOU!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL!
Z

Dearest Z–
I hope you enjoy your visit with your human family today as much as they will enjoy being with you. We adore you!
You are our Horse of Forever. Hoping and praying that the powers that be do not embarrass themselves by overlooking you again. You deserve what you have so rightly EARNED, and so does your family. Love you always.
Waiting for Zenlin or Curlatta
As just a “lay fan” I don’t understand “does not match” in respect to Curlin. When I look at haunches of both Zen and Curlin, there’s power to be passed on there But perhaps more important is “heart.” When Curlin was able to scramble out of traffic to take 3rd in the KY Derby, he had/has the same determination as Zen. I am sure no one did this with mating/nicking for crooked little Seabiscuit and it was his attitude and nearly only his attitude that got him to the front of his races, and beat the “pure bred” War Admiral. As unthinkable as it is now, we also need to remember Zen was a $60K horse who if not bought could have very well ended up on a truck to the Mexican slaughter house. All that to say, I wouldn’t over-think this or we will see a multimillion dollar coalt who won’t have the same “heart” and it is heart that gets them to the finish line first (or half a head behind).

YOU and TEAM Z, above all others, have earned the award with hard work and love for racing and your fans. You all are…SIMPLY THE BEST!!!! I Love All of You!!!!xoxoxxoxo PS: I found the best luck wish on line and thought it was so perfect because every ounce of me is wishing the best for you. Will I think any less of the voters if they don’t see fit to give you your long overdue Eclipse Award for HOY? Naw, they have already shown how unqualified they are for not recognizing you the past two times you were up for HOY. Not sure what their motives are, but you, sweet lady, are the peoples choice, and that bears more importance than any other opinions on Earth! Too bad those turf writers don’t have the honesty and desire to improve horse racing as you have. You Zenyatta, have taken the sport of horse racing to a new level. You are the greatest horse ever foaled, and I’ll depend on my 60 years as a horseman over a bunch of nerdy turf writer wannabes for the basis of that decision. I thank God you came along in my lifetime. That goes for the entire Team Z as well. Seeing you make the front page of the New York Times leaves me thinking even the east coast bias is finally beginning to recognize how great you are!

You’re the Horse of a Lifetime Zenyatta…with or without an award, your true friends and family will always love you and will always remember what an amazing horse you are!

Zen…just know that your thousands of fans love and respect you and all Team Z. We will all be there tomorrow if not in person but in spirit. We so want you to have the recognition you so richly deserve. No horse has ever done more for the sport of racing. You will be in the Hall of Fame on the first vote. Bless you Dottie for letting Z’s fans share the journey.

Shannon
Get ready for your close up, dear Queen Z. In our hearts and minds you will always be the 2010 Horse of the Year.
Mary Jane
Wow. Anyone who reads these wonderful diary entries, and then the comments, can’t help but be moved to tears. It is a rarity in this country of ours that so much love and kindness can be on daily display. What an inspiration Z you and your team have been – and continue to be through all the ups and downs. Hopefully, tomorrow’s vote will demonstrate that bias and narrow thinking cannot, and should not, drown out the countless numbers of people who celebrate kindness and caring when it’s right in front of them wrapped in a joyous package of excellence. And that’s you – Zenyatta!!!
Diana a.
