Happy Sunday Morning,
I am so excited! A car is driving up the road…and I think it is my CA FAMILY.
I can’t wait to see everyone. I have so many things to tell them…and to share with them. They have not seen me in the paddock with my friends. I know they have met them in the barn area on their last visit, but they have not personally seen all of us out there playing and running together.
I also want them to see how fabulous my ‘winter coat’ looks and how I am adjusting so well to my new lifestyle.
In turn, I want a complete update on ALL of my BARN 55 friends and how they are doing.
I know JOHN will have tons of photos to share with all of you once he gets back to LA.
After our visit…my CA FAMILY will be off to FLORIDA for the ECLIPSE AWARDS. They take place on Monday night. You may watch them on TVG.
At this time, I personally want to thank all of you for all of your LOVE AND SUPPORT! PLEASE…keep your fingers crossed! I know one thing for sure, I know I could not be the horse I AM without the HELP and LOVE of so many people.
Like I said in yesterday’s DIARY…I AM SO PROUD TO KNOW ALL OF YOU!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL!
Z

Hoping that you receive the much deserved recognition award of HOY. You are the Horse of the Year above all others and I hope those that voted have the good sense to realize this fact. If your fans were voting, you would have the award. No contest. And the fans love you no matter because they know greatness when they see it. You are magic. Enjoy the day visiting with the Ca. Team Z. Can’t wait to see the photos. I will be watching tomorrow evening and cheering you on as always. Good luck. Zenyatta, the Queen and Horse of a Lifetime. Hugs, carrots and mints!

Can’t wait for the new photo’s. John, can you take some video’s too? I would love to see our Z in motion. Have a great time and I’m keeping a good thought for the Eclipse Awards. What a fabulous lifestyle! Happy to be able to tag along via the Internet. Thanks for making all of this available. Truly magnanimous of you all Team Z!

Dear Z and Team, Marian M. said it very well with regard to the HOTY award. I would only add that, while many horses (both famous and personal) have captured our hearts and souls (Barbaro did that to me), you are in a rarified category the likes of which I have never seen. You are the heart horse of tens of thousands of people of all ages, walks of life, diverse backgrounds, and you make our hearts and souls dance with joy. Those of us fortunate enough to have met you in person know that as great as you are in physical stature, you are even greater in your gentleness. My life has been forever changed by knowing you, for which I feel blessed and grateful. Good luck tomorrow at the Eclipse Awards, but more importantly, may your future as a mom be as perfect as your life has been so far. May you always be happy and healthy and deeply loved.
Marion
I hope you get your award on monday…but if not …please know that you are loved by all the race fans and that you are the queen of hearts HOTY or not.You even have fans in Berlin Germany.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow
Love you big girl

Queen Z. The snow really suits you. You must have some Canadian expertise in the snow from your father’s side of your family. Looking forward to seeing more pictures of you and your new pals. Come what may from the awards, your fans know that you are the horse of any year.

You’re my daughter’s first sports crush! Mine was Seattle Slew (I know I’m dating myself here). Best of luck tomorrow at the Eclipse Awards. You’ve got our vote! And have a super time with your CA family today!

You always say how your CA family misses you…surely they do…but you don’t always mention how you must also miss them, until today, you’re hinting at it!! What a beautiful family you have…they are sensitive, caring people who KNOW you miss them, & they try to be there for you by videophone or in person whenever they can…they value the strong bonds that exist between you & them, & care for you very deeply as the magnificent creature you truly are. Not all horses are as fortunate as you, Z…not all are as loved…perhaps your warmth & affection towards people is a measure of the love that has been given to you, which you return in equal amounts! Long live the beautiful bonds!

Hello Beautiful Girl,
I’m so proud to know you too! Whatever way the Eclipse Awards go – know that you are Horse Of The Year to legions of your fans.
Also, you are The Horse of a Lifetime and rank right up there with Secretariat, Ruffian, Citation and Cigar!
You are Queen Zenyatta!

“I believe that because of you people will begin to realize the importance of the mother of a foal just as much as the stud.”
Jeanie, mares already are considered very, very important by the industry. A catalog-style pedigree (the format of pedigrees for horses offered for sale) lists in great detail the racing and production records of the mares.
In a catalog-style pedigree, the sire (father) is mentioned with a bit about his race record and produce record. That is the only time a stallion will be mentioned on the pedigree page.
Next on the page will be the horse’s first dam (mother), her race record and her produce record. They’ll list all her foals of note with important races won, earnings and produce records.
The next horse listed will be the second dam (the mother of the horse above). If there is room, all the things listed for the first dam will be listed under the second dam.
The third horse, again only if there is room, will be the third dam who is the mother of the above horse.
People look a the female pedigree when they are evaluating pedigrees. Stallions have many, many times more foals than mares ever do, so they are more well known in the industry, but mares rule in the pedigree department. Pedigrees are evaluated by the strength of the tail female line (that’s the first, second, third, etc., dam).

Tomorrow is my 53rd birthday and I am hoping for Horse of the Year award for YOU!!!That will be my favorite birthday present. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed. Good Luck Girl!!!I still pinch myself when I look at the picture I got taken in December standing next to you at Barn 55. I got to meet Mario and Carmen that day and tell them how much they mean to me as well. You were so regal that day. There were over 50 of us lined up for pictures and you held your head high and posed beautifully for each of us with no complaint. You are truly the most special horse ever!!!Love you
