Good Morning,
I am having a great deal of fun! Joe Drape, who writes for the NY TIMES, came to visit and did a wonderful article (Z in NY Times) about me for his paper. The photos are outstanding…if I say so myself. There is one showing my friends and I running in the paddock. (I’m in FRONT! Too cute!) WE are having a blast running in the snow and playing together each day!
Please enjoy the photos and the piece. JOE DID A GREAT JOB! He did an update on some of my recent ‘teasing’ activities. Also, as referenced in the article, I have had all of my proper vet checks…and I am a real ‘girly girl’…with all of my body parts in good-working order. In these photos, I think I look terrific…even though they say I’ve gained a bit of weight! Good thing I’ve got a nice, strong frame to carry it off so well!
Also, this is too cute! A travel agency has called the FARM and wanted to know if they could put me on ‘their tour list…as one of THINGS TO SEE WHILE IN KY’. I guess they think LOTS of people would like to come and see me! (I gotta’ love my fans. This is absolutely adorable and made my day!) I’m not sure how this could happen as the roads at the farm aren’t big enough to handle big tour buses…but I could not be more flattered!
Yesterday, Steve Haskin, his wife, Joan, and Lenny Shulman came to visit. I gather Steve and Joan were here on a business trip from their home base in New Jersey. It was great to see them! I’ve known Steve and Lenny (both write for THE BLOODHORSE Magazine) since I was just starting out on my racing career. They have been dear friends for years now! I am so fortunate to have so many dear FANS and FRIENDS!
Just a few days now until my CA FAMILY comes to visit. They will be so excited to see how well I’m doing with all of my new friends. I can’t wait!!!!!!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL!

Beautiful Zenyatta, Such happy and uplifting news that you are healthy and all parts are working well. Your photos from NYT are so pretty and of course you are in front of your girl friends, you saw a camera! That’s just one of your qualities that makes you so loveable. I can understand how a tour company would want to include you in their tour, you’re the biggest thing to hit Kentucky since moonshine. Stay the course, magnificent one. Much Love From Me To You

I don’t think I have known a horse like Zenyatta, you are totally beautiful. You ring my heart. Your intelligence is amazing. And I love you something fierce. I wish with all my heart that I could see you, but I have a dog who depends on me to be with her. You are suck a wonderful horse.. I love Zenyatta

Hi Zen,
Been doing some reading on MRLS Syndrome and found very interesting information. With this in mind I would hope your fans would understand that the traffic of so many people would bring a risk to you and the other mares who are with foals. As much as I would love to see you having you at risk would be the last thing I would want to do.You never know what things could have an impact on the horses environment. Who would have guessed that cherry trees and the resulting caterpillars could cause such a loss.
For me ..Seeing you on video and pictures would be great, knowing you were not at risk.I know I will have some folks angry at what I have said but I had to express my feelings. You foal would be a gift to the world so I can wait to see it here.

Hi Z and Everyone- Glad to hear that Zenny is a “girlie girl” and what a flirt. I read the comments about visiting Zenny and I put all my trust and faith in the Mosses and Z’s trainer John to only do what is safe for Zenny. Have they made any wrong decisions yet? They have connections with the best experts– not saying anything against the Farm- but they do everything putting her needs first– so not to worry but just be glad that Dottie is so terrific to us and keeps us educated and informed about Zenyatta– and also I like the name someone earlier suggested for a little girl-Penyatta- call her Penny– good luck Team Z and Mr and Mrs Moss. Zenyatta HOY!!
Ida Lee
You look so happy beautiful girl. I hope your future “fiance” is worthy of you. May I put in a good word for my Golden God the Mighty Curlin? He’s very talented and they don’t come any more beautiful. He looks so sweet too! You two can make the most beautiful babies ever. I know Rachel get’s him first but I’m sure she’ll share. Stay happy and healthy Sweetheart. Love you…
Ellen Zachary
Excellent newsy post, MS. Z…YOU and your team are TOO CUTE…thanks for keeping us “in the loop”…
Lovies,
Ellen Zachary…another Ms. Z….

Happy Friday Zenyatta and Dottie! This post just brought the biggests smile to my face! Couldn’t sleep last night so I saw the NYT article when it was first posted at like 4am this morning! I just about fell off the bed at how beautiful and moving all of the picture of you were! You have brought so much joy and happiness to all of us and no matter what happens on Monday night, although don’t get me wrong I want you to win HOY, someone put it very well in an article I saw the other day… there will always be a HOY every year but there will only be ONE Zenyatta. I actually think there should be a special award given just to you for what you have done for your sport!
Love how you get to flirt with Capone and am surprised you haven’t told us about this before now! But I am stil holding out for AP Indy. To the Moss’ and John & Dottie, if he should get to be the lucky guy, I think the baby’s name should be Zapittooya (first letter of Z’s name, then first 2 letters of AP’s name and a combination of the letters in both of their names). I came up with this a few weeks ago and have been trying to figure out a way to share it with ya’ll. I think this would be the perfect name for her first foal because that’s exactly what he/she is going to do when it hits the racetrack… ZAP it to everybody! :)
Thank you again for another wonderful post! These are the bright spots in my day! Big hugs, kisses, and lots of carrots to Zenyatta! I love you beautiful girl! Have fun with your buddies this weekend and enjoy seeing your family on Sunday! xoxo!

Z: It’s always good to know that there is something, someone perfect on this planet. YOU, beautiful girl…and your connections are incredible.
I loved the story in the NYT – You sound so happy – and flirtatious. What a girl, what a racehorse. I adore you.
I think I am with Mike Smith – no one is good enough – but I know that you will adapt – and somehow, I have this feeling you are going to be just as spectacular in your next career.
You are something special….I just love hearing from and about you, and wait for the day I can meet you in person at Lane’s End. You are rare indeed – one of a kind: PERFECTION
Thanks to your connections for letting us continue to know about you and love you madly.
Tami
You are truly a treasure for the world. What a gift you are!! Thank you for being you, Z.

I’d bet any money I have she WON’T be bred to Curlin.
The Mosses are looking at proven stallions for her, and Curlin isn’t one. Most good racehorses fail as stallions.
Rachel is visiting Curlin because they have the same owner, and he’s supporting his own stallion.

Love you Queen Z!! The article was great!!
Robin
Hi Z!! Missing you in Cali, big girl!! Will be watching on Sunday, can’t wait!! Stay safe and warm! Love you!! MUAH!! XOXO
Gloria
Big Mama Z! Nice diary post. LOVE the photo of you running with your girlfriends with you leading the way. Love you so much. Can’t wait for your family to see you Sunday. Hope to see LOTS of pictures from that meeting. XOXO!

@CAM
I think I’ll toss my money in with yours. Curlin/Zenyatta is a big ole F on the True Nicks.
Jan
Zenyatta,
I bet you can’t wait to see your CA family.

Hi Z! I haven’t been able to read the article yet in the New York Times. I know that everybody loves you. You have so many fans and friends. We are all pulling for you!. Oh, I am glad that you are a “girly” girl.!!! That will be one of the next BIG waits!!
Enjoy the company! Love and hugs.

I would be very surprised if Lanes End was able to allow visitors to see Zenyatta. Certainly not in breeding season (early January until June) when the staff are extremely overworked–up all night foaling and busy all day getting mares bred and dealing with new babies.
I hope Lanes End finds a way to do it, but it may just prove to be too big an undertaking.

You sound really happy and excited that your California family will be coming to visit you in a few days. They, I am sure have been missing you and are looking forward to seeing you and loving you up. Keep on doing well and having fun. You are in my thoughts every day. You are such an inspiration!
My Love & Blessings to you Zenyatta!

It’s amazing Zenyatta, you don’t stay out of the news or media spotlight for very long at all.You are a superstar & your fan base continues to grow. You are truly an amazing mare & I’m so glad things are going well for you at Lane’s End.Enjoy your peace & quiet & time with your new friends.Your family will be to visit you & that’s what matters most.Sadly I never got the chance to see you in person, but I’m so grateful for these posts & other media outlets to keep me informed & see your magnificent photos and videos.I’m sure you need your privacy with all that is ahead you. You’ll always hold a special place in my heart.xxx

Zen,
I love hearing about you and your
new adventures and that your are a
“girlie girl” ready to go on, can’t
wait to hear who will be your first date.
XXOOXOOXOO to you and your new friends
and of course your CA.family.
NancyJS
Zenny !!!! Absolutely love the NY Times article. Now that
you are the lead mare and becoming a hussy. I love it!!!!
Cheers to Capone. Keep up the good work!!!!
We had a mare at our barn that was quite the hussy. It was
so funny my 17 hand thoroughbred gelding not proud
cut was soooo funny. She would come up to him
and touch his nose as if to say “Hey Big Boy let’s
go to my stall!!!!! You have been so focused on your
career now it is time to be a horse. Love Lanes End and
all the access we have had to you. Fans need to realize
that you were teathered to humans as a race horse
now you are REAL horse. Horses out in the paddock are
having fun with their friends. When back in the barn they
respond to humans again. Have a wonderful weekend. Looking
forward to Monday night. Keep your hoofs crossed.

Hi Z
I loved the article in the NYT (thanks for sharing!)and especially the picture of you and your new friends in the paddock….I know your CA family can’t wait until Sunday! I’m anxious for Monday’s announcement…you just have to win HOY!
Suzanne G
Hi suew,
I’m keeping the faith with you and hoping we’ll be able to see ‘our’ girl in person. Would also hope that she won’t be kept in foal forever.
Really love the diary posts written with such depth of knowledge, humor and charm. It’s a privilege to read them. Thanks for sharing with all of us.

Hey Zenny: Honey you look wonderful!!!! I noticed that your tail is short. I thought while you were racing your tail was a little longer. Maybe it’s just the pics. It is great that you are still part of the news. Thanks so much for the photos. If you win HOTY, your picture will be all over the media. I thought maybe we wouldn’t hear from you today. I was thinking that Dottie must be very busy getting ready to come East. I bet your family can’t wait to see you. They must really miss you so much. But they know you are having a wonderful time at Lanes End with your new friends. Oh, I am going to find out what Travel Agency is booking a trip to visit you. I’ll book my trip with them right away. How did you enjoy your visit with Mike? I bet that was great fun! Well Zenny, now it is only 3 more days to the big event. I’ll be watching! Love ya, Linda
L
@Suzanne G
Hopefully she’ll be healthy and productive (by which I mean producing good get) enough to be ‘in foal’ until she’s 16 or 18 years old.
NancyJS
Oh forgot. Glad you gained a little weight. Lean athletes
have a hard time getting pregnant. Hormones like a
little extra padding. 100 lbs. That is like 10 lbs on a human.
You still look wonderful!!!!!
I have been watching AP Indy’s videos very talented with
precosity. Hope he is the lucky stallion.
Sweet dreams Zenny !!!!!!
Celeste
It is wonderful that every day brings us another interesting, amusing and informative message from our Queen. Thank you, Dottie and all the rest of Team Z for all you do for us poor Zenyattaholics. The NY Times article was beautiful and the photos absolutely breathtaking. As a matter of fact, I think I will go back there again and read it for a second time. We are so fortunate Zenyatta has the best connections in the world. My heart is so happy that they will be reunited for a visit this weekend. I cannot wait for the diary entries and pictures to come from that. Again…thank you!!
Linda Moss
Queen Z & Team Z – It does my heart good to see all theses compliments and be a part of your fan club. NY Times got it right! As you go into the weekend, visit with your family and team, and await what Monday will bring, please know how much you mean to us and it only starts with the words “Love”, “Admiration”, and “Pride”.
