Good Morning,
I am having a great deal of fun! Joe Drape, who writes for the NY TIMES, came to visit and did a wonderful article (Z in NY Times) about me for his paper. The photos are outstanding…if I say so myself. There is one showing my friends and I running in the paddock. (I’m in FRONT! Too cute!) WE are having a blast running in the snow and playing together each day!
Please enjoy the photos and the piece. JOE DID A GREAT JOB! He did an update on some of my recent ‘teasing’ activities. Also, as referenced in the article, I have had all of my proper vet checks…and I am a real ‘girly girl’…with all of my body parts in good-working order. In these photos, I think I look terrific…even though they say I’ve gained a bit of weight! Good thing I’ve got a nice, strong frame to carry it off so well!
Also, this is too cute! A travel agency has called the FARM and wanted to know if they could put me on ‘their tour list…as one of THINGS TO SEE WHILE IN KY’. I guess they think LOTS of people would like to come and see me! (I gotta’ love my fans. This is absolutely adorable and made my day!) I’m not sure how this could happen as the roads at the farm aren’t big enough to handle big tour buses…but I could not be more flattered!
Yesterday, Steve Haskin, his wife, Joan, and Lenny Shulman came to visit. I gather Steve and Joan were here on a business trip from their home base in New Jersey. It was great to see them! I’ve known Steve and Lenny (both write for THE BLOODHORSE Magazine) since I was just starting out on my racing career. They have been dear friends for years now! I am so fortunate to have so many dear FANS and FRIENDS!
Just a few days now until my CA FAMILY comes to visit. They will be so excited to see how well I’m doing with all of my new friends. I can’t wait!!!!!!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL!
Z

She might like it I guess!!!!!

I loved the article. Girl, watch out for those teasers! Really, I hope whoever that they have chosen for you is very kind and gentle with you!
Take care and keep the news coming! Never get enough reading these post and anything about you!

Fantastic you are in the Times and I LOVE HEARING ABOUT THE TOUR COMPANY CALLING!! You are an attraction, Queen Z! How awesome is that! I know I live in Virginia and I plan to visit as soon as they say we can!

Hey Zenyatta–Was at your new home of Lane’s End yesterday for their Stallion Open House. I know everyone suspects A.P. Indy will be your first date, but I’m casting my vote for Pleasantly Perfect! I’m biased as I have a Pleasant Colony granddaughter, but I sure would like to see those “old school” distance genes of His Majesty, Pleasant Colony, and my Triple Crown hero Affirmed crossed w/ yours. Plus Pleasantly Perfect is a Breeders’ Cup Classic winner like YOU! Any way, I’m sure ANY foal of yours will be a winner!

Oh beautiful Zen, how nice that they came out and took pics and interviewed you. Thank you and the Mosses and Dottie especially for sharing these with us. I think all of us feel we are part owners because they have made you the people’s horse and are kind enough to share you and all your special moments with us. I noticed your “The Queen Reigns Here” sign by your stall and wondered if you ever received my sign “Zenyatta, God’s Gift to Stallions” that I made for the BC and dropped off at Lane’s End the next day? I hope you and the Mosses and Team Z got to at least see it. I want to vote for A P Indy as your dream date, also, he’s older and very experienced, and I’m sure will whisper “sweet nothings” in your ear. These younger men can be a lot more “slam bam” types. We shall watch with bated breath on Monday and they better pick the right horse or there will be a backlash from all your fans. Kisses on that beautiful nose. Luv and Hugs
Linda
Wonderful idea about the travel agency. Would really like to be able to go there and see you.

Zennie,
You have brought some truth and class to the NY Times. Bravo! great article and pictures from Joe Drape.
Enjoy your day Big Girl!
Jenna
I know I’m coming in the summertime…to visit Z!
I love the NY Times article and Steve Haskin’s quick not on his Facebook page. But two things made me a bit sad:
** One comment that mentioned Z being bred every single year. I constantly whine about this topic.
** Steve’s comment about how Zenyatta isn’t as huggable as she was in CA. It sounds like she is becoming a horse.
For anyone who knows about horses, I’d like to hear a bit about how a horse’s personality changes from track to paddock.
TGIF. I have a feeling someone we all love will cross the finish line first on Monday evening in Miami.
Thank you, Zendotti!

@ Mary Washer,
.
For most any stallion that Zenyatta will be bred to, they’re well established and don’t need the boost or publicity (though I’m sure they’ll be happy to advertise the fact). Realistically, Zenyatta needs them more than they ‘need’ Zenyatta.

God was showing off the day he made Zenyatta.

so z, how come you have never told us about your flirtation with capone. oh, i know, he’s not really the guy for you, but does he make your hooves curl just a little? or you are curlin for curlin? or indy? what about that guy you mentioned a few weeks ago? i guess you’re just going to let us keep guessing. shame on you.
Selene McCarthy
wonderful article in NY Times, great photos!
@ Karen Mitchell..your post was so heartfelt and touching..so sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in your memories and peace in your heart. May the horse be with you.
Sarah Powell
Glad to read the article and see some new pictures. She’s just so beautiful. I don’t know what it is about this mare but I can watch videos of her and find myself smiling and tears flowing down my cheeks. I can only imagine seeing her in person – hopefully some day! I received the Zenyatta Christmas ornament yesterday from a friend who knew how much I wanted one but couldn’t find one anywhere – I’m taking it as an omen that Monday will bring the news we all hope for – HOY!! Thanks for the new post and the link to the article.
Carolyn
ha ha ha — I see me in that picture!

Pictures of you in snow with your pals are wonderful. Zen, the Queen, is looking great and is out in front where she belongs.
Pat Golner
Z – the roads don’t have to be able to handle the busses – they could just drop us all off at the end of the driveway & we’ll walk to where you are! Can’t wait to see you.
Pat Golner
My choice for a mate would be Holy Bull. Besides all the connections through Giacamo, he & Z are my two most favorite horses of all time.

THE NY TIMES ARTICLE IS FABULOUS…AS ARE YOU. WHAT AN AWESOME IDEA TO LET FANS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE TAKE A TOUR OF YOUR NEW HOME, LANE’S END, AND SEE YOU. IT WOULD TRULY BE A SPECIAL THRILL FOR ALL OF US ZENYATTA DEVOTEES. SPEAKING OF THRILLS…WHAT ABOUT THAT FUNLOVING FOREPLAY WITH CAPONE! SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE ALREADY THE ENJOYING THE BENEFITS OF BECOMING A GREAT MOM. CANNOT WAIT TO HEAR WHO THE LUCKY DADDY WILL BE. ON ANOTHER NOTE, WE ARE ALL ANXIOUSLY AWAITING THE ANNOUNCEMENT ON JANUARY 17th WHERE YOU ARE CROWNED AS HORSE OF THE YEAR…AS YOU KNOW YOUR FANS BELEIVE YOU ARE THE HORSE OF THE AGES! MAY THE RACING GODS BE WITH YOU MONDAY EVENING.
Brent Zimmer
Too cute!
.and I am a real ‘girly girl’…

I read the article about your search for “Mr. Right”. I guess you’re getting all dolled up (a pedicure, curvy luscious full bodied figure, etc) for a future Valentine….go get ’em Zenny! Any guy would be lucky to have you! Poor Mr. Capone doesn’t have chance, and I guess you can’t have just anybody – you are royalty.
Is it still snowy in Kentucky? Is that usual for the region? Of course, the weather is all out of whack around the U.S. this year! Enjoy your reunion! Lotsa love, Jan

Zenny just loved the NY Times article & my favorite photo was of you & your girlfriends- you look so happy!!! I read Bloodhorse & you should be HOTY. I’m rooting for you. Enjoy your visit this weekend with your family. Much love sweet girl.

Great article Zen,
I worked as a nurse in the clinic for the NYT when I was young. I know they are all sharp writers and must have had a great time seeing the QUEEN.
I am enjoying my reading and learning as much as I can about all things horse. Waiting with great expectations for the news you will be named HOTY.

You Da Girl Z!!!!!! If I have to walk to get to the farm I will. They should maybe think about a four lane highway into the farm. (*_*) I would think they understand that there are going to be a whole lot of visitors. (Me for one) The article is great and, of course, how could a photo of you be bad. How lucky the guy you choose to have a date with, very lucky. I know you are the talk of the area, well, the whole world for that matter. I knew this would happen. Zenyatta The Star!!! That poor little horse that barley beat you in The Breeders Cup Race is inconsequential. Lord, what was his name?????? I love you Z. You have a great weekend and enjoy your company. I will be waiting for photos. YOU ARE, SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!xoxoxoxox YOU ARE ALWAYS ON MY MIND, YOU ARE ALWAYS ON MY MIND!!!!
Sharon
Zenyatta/Dottie, you gals are TOO CUTE!! I hope everyone from Barn 55 gets to make the trip to see Queen Z, including Mario, Carmen and Steve — GREAT article in the Times and the picture of Z with her girl pals (as “max” said, in front where she belongs!!!) was too gorgeous! Best wishes to all for the only proper outcome of the Eclipse awards – Z is #1, the Queen, after all.
Carol (U.S. Virgin Islands)
Z, You look so wonderful in the NY Times article. A big wish of mine is that I could one day come and see you too! Enjoy your weekend with your Team Z family. Don’t get too frisky with Capone even though we know he’s not the one.
Toi
Hi Zenny!
I love the photos in the NY Time. WOW, you are soooo gorgeous! Anywho, if you get a chance, I’d love to hear more about your Ms. Dottie. I thought that I read once she was a school teacher, but wasn’t sure. She is such a lovely lady and I think it would be nice to learn more about her and of course, her baby Sophie!

Z, in the last photo of the slide show it looks like you have some hide missing. Did you bump yourself??? I hope not. I can’t imagine one of those other girls taking a nip at you. Be careful, ok!!!!
Jenna
Kathryn Cogswell:
Great quote! By whom?
CAM
LOL Henrietta,
.
All horses nip and kick when sorting out pecking order, particularly in a new group. I’m sure those won’t be the first or last marks she gets.
