Good Morning,
Today is a big THANK YOU DAY!
Look at the beautiful sky! The France family sent this photo to John and Dottie. They commented in the note…when first seeing this sky, they thought of ME! To quote Barb…”we spotted this ‘Z’ between Mt. Baker and The Sisters very early one morning last week. FIRST THOUGHT WAS… ZENYATTA!” This is so sweet! The sky looks amazing…and the BIG Z…is a WOW! Thank you for thinking of me!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SUE! May this be a healthy, joyful, and blessed year for you. I guess this January birthday thing is really popular. My horse friends and I all had a great celebration on January 1st. Enjoy your day!
I do want to extend a BIG THANK YOU to Shari Voltz’ 5th grade class in Ohio. The gifts and goodies you sent me are so appreciated. I know Sarah sent you a note…but I wanted to do so as well. I hope that all of these students are having a good time learning different things from me. This is the third class I have heard from…one from the East Coast….and another from the San Francisco area. You know how much I love children…so this means a great deal to me!
Additionally, THANK YOU for the kind comments about TEAM Z and THE SPECIAL ECLIPSE AWARD they are being honored with this year! My TEAM is so excited…and deeply honored. It has been an amazing 4 1/2 years…my time at Barn 55. I am so proud our INDUSTRY is recognizing MY TEAM for their effort, hard work and achievement.
The Awards are on January 17th in Florida. I know LOTS of photos will be shown of me that night. My friends and I will be watching from our comfy stalls at Lane’s End. Let’s hope it is a night for Carrot Cake and Guinness for ALL! We are keeping our hooves crossed…for sure!
Lastly, I know I’ve said it before…but I truly want to say THANK YOU again to ALL OF MY FANS! Your support, love, kindness, notes, photos, gifts, and hugs have really helped me to feel SPECIAL! I know how much I deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness…and my entire team feels exactly the same way! It really has been a TEAM EFFORT…AND THAT TEAM INCLUDES EACH AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU! WHAT A TIME WE HAVE ALL SHARED TOGETHER!
Dottie has a dear friend, JOY, who is extremely artistic! Joy commented to her one afternoon…”I have always felt the memories I have in my life are truly MY BEST PAINTINGS!”
With this thought in mind, I hope that in some way my time at Barn 55 has helped you to add some ‘beautiful paintings’ to your life!
With Love,
Hugs to All,
Z
M2 + Little Bit & Ready Lady
Thank you again for your new diary entry. We read it every day. I (Mar) am thinking about this HOY – and rooting for you – and am also thinking you are greater than just that one award. Just saying! Congratulations Team Z on the recognition – outstanding!
We think the world of you beautiful Zenny!
Our best to you and Dottie,
Ready Lady, Little Bit and M2 from The Little Bit Ranch in Texas

The photo is breathtaking, thank-you France Family for posting. Zenyatta is a gift from God. We needed her and we have her. Thank you Mr.& Mrs.Moss and the Team.I watch these posts every day. When the new foal is born there will be a celebration just like the royals. If the foal does not race who cares. The foal will be special. Zenyatta will be a great mother. What a gal, nite Zen and the team.

What a breathtaking picture…even the heavens are celebrating Queen Z. Did anyone make a donation to the V Cancer foundation and receive the pictue of Z
surronded by other smaller pictures of Zen? That looked like a very special image
to me.
Dottie….thank you for your time and talent making all of Z’s fans feel so much closer to her.
Shari Voltz
Zenyatta sweet girl I love you so. Thank you for mentioning me and my class we are honored. That picture is for sure God and all the angels saying hi. You are an angel sweet girl. Your beauty and kindness shine through. Thank you Zinny and THANK YOU Dottie. Many hugs and kisses from Shari in Ohio.
Max
Beautiful Zenyatta. I hope that you do win the award for Horse of the Year. However, anyone who has ever seen you race already knows that you are Horse of the Year and much, much more to your admirers. All the best of luck to you and Team Z.
Gloria
I love Joy’s comment. You have made MANY beautiful paintings for me, Big Mama Z. Thank you and Team Zenyatta for being a part of my life. XOXO to all!!
Lanie
Lovely poem Bridget..thank you!
That’s a great idea Linda…wonderful way to help horses! The Moss’ more than do their part to support and this would be another way too!
The “Z” in the sky IS a “sign” one that reminds all of us that because of the Moss’ and Dottie and John and all of the team..we were allowed those moments of pure joy with you…getting to know you..realizing that wonderful personality and deep humility you have..it’s taught needed lessons. Now more than ever people are contributing to the needs of horses..those retired and those abused, etc. That is the greatest legacy a horse or human can have.
Every race is indeed a painting..I know they are all photo finishes in my mind..every one of them. Good luck to all of you in the upcoming awards…we’re going to plan a Zen Team party for that night!!
My birthday is Jan 19th and you’ve already given me all the wishes for all the rest of my birthdays to come. You’re noble and grand of heart…history will be yours no matter the outcome.
Happy Birthday to Sue too! What a great time to be alive…to witness people coming together in this manner..being pulled into a universal family..such a shame the world at large can’t find common ground to stop wars and have peace.
I’ve been a fan of racing all my life…a fan of horses prob since birth though I’ve never owned one..these are exciting times…may we all remember and may horses in need benefit always now.
God bless you sweet girl and all those you love..all those who love you…I love you..here under the moon..over Ky.oxoxoxox
Sue
Thank you Z for the Birthday wish. You just made my day. You are the best. I am so happy I can’t even say. Thank you I love you

LoL, I’ll bet you’ve got your hooves crossed — kinda hard to walk like that! I like the way Nancy said, “there is a new Horse of the Year every year but there is only one Zenyatta. …You have shown us all what graciousness and generosity look like. …Most of all, you have taught us what it is to be a champion: to win with honor, to compete with courage and to give every last bit of yourself when the challenge seems too great.” So to Team Zenyatta, just remember that, if the Eclipse voters haven’t risen to the grand occasion, and shown us all their better natures, after all.

Riders In The Sky
They’re ridin’ hard to catch the mare
but they haven’t caught her yet,
’cause they got to ride forever in the range up in the sky
on horses snorting fire as they ride hard hear them cry
ZENYATTA ZENYATTA
the day will come we’ll get her
but not this night, she’s too far for us
leaves behind only sweat and dust!!
Go Zenyatta Go
Shucks, and I thought you were going to wear your finest wraps for the party, sthg maybe in Floridian Pink.
Sweet dreams of carrot cakes stuffed with hay & oates for you, Sleep tight Zetty

Dearest Z–
What a breathtaking picture! I wish I could get a copy and have it framed.
It’s as if God Himself is reminding us of His sending you to us. I’ve been reading the Bible a lot lately, and I am amazed at how often animals are mentioned and His care for them.
We love you, Z, award or not, but we’re going to be mighty upset if you don’t get it because you deserve it.
My late Christmas present came today, and it is the afghan with YOU on it! I am so delighted. A cold spell is headed for here in Texas, so I’ll be able to snuggle up with YOU! Sweet dreams, honey. Love you always.

Clearly God has voted and wanted everyone to see! Thank you to the Frances for seeing with Zenyatta eyes.

Hi Zenyatta. What an awesome sky revealing a Z. Just beautiful. Hubbie and I will be watching the awards ceremony, but whatever happens, Zenyatta you will always be our Horse of the Year, Horse of the Decade, Horse of All Time. There is none other. You should have been Horse of the Year these past three years!!! You are loved by all and have touched so many hearts. We just got our new camera and now have to learn how to use it. Can’t wait to see you and take many, many pictures. Love you so. You are in our prayers each day and we look so forward to your diaries. Besides Ghostzapper, Rock Hard Ten; how about Hard Spun? Can’t wait to hear who your first date will be with. We love you and pray each night you will receive the honor you so rightly deserve and have for the past three years. Love you so.

Hi Zenny and Team Z! All I can say is,the memories of Zenyatta, the fabulous Mosses and equally fabulous Shirreffs are truly very special “paintings” to me,and I’ll treasure them always. There aren’t enough words to even BEGIN to thank Jerry,Ann,Dottie, and John for the wonderful gift of YOU they gave all of us Zenyatta fans. A very special Team for a more-than-special horse. The special Eclipse Award that your CA family received is certainly deserved, and couldn’t have gone to a better group of people. My fingers, toes, legs, eyes, EVERYTHING is crossed that justice is finally served and you are deemed Horse of the Year, and John is made Trainer of the Year. I’m quite upset that your Mike wasn’t nominated for Jockey of the Year – SO unfair! There’s not a jockey out there that cares about “his” horse as much as Mike cares about and loves YOU.
Congratulations Team Z and Ann and Jerry Moss on your award! Let’s hope there’s more where that one came from coming!! Love you, Queen Zen!

@Quarterhossgal…..I got the picture too..it’s almost like bringing the paintings of memories that Dottie talks about to life!

Dearest Zenyatta…I too like all your other admirers, can’t wait to read your daily post. I do it right before going to bed to get an added lift to the end of my day. And today was no exception. How very fitting to have the Team Zenyatta “Z” painted in clouds in the heavens. As most everyone has said, You and your wonderful human family are heaven sent. Here’s hoping for HOTY to you all but who needs another trophy with what’s already in your hearts and the great things you have done and keep on doing. With much respect to Team “Z”, old and new, for all their hard work. Love the diary and Dottie’s translations :) Love from Florida Kim S

What a great picture! I was remembering that when I was a child, I had a book—it had the typical boy loves horse, boy loses horse, boy gets horse back story. But what was special about the book was it was all in photographs—the horse was beautiful and it was all very well done. The author showed how the boy took care of the horse—fed and watered her, rode her, cooled her out, bandaged her legs, bedded her stall, took her out to graze, etc. I was thinking that Zenyatta could write a book like that too. Even us adult children would love that!
Lynne
What a truly amazing sky and for them to have captured it just at the right moment in time is awesome.
Zenyatta, I am rooting for you at the Eclipse Awards. You are my darling girl

I am in my early 60’s and I am over the moon for you, Zenyatta. You bring such joy and fun to my days. Thank you so much for all your daily posts, they are beyond wonderful. Truly magic, like the big Z in the sky, I know it was for you.
I am planning a small dinner party for the 17th for some of our friends that love horseracing and love you. We will be celebrating you as horse of a lifetime, and whatever else might come along. Also, celebrating Team Z and their great effort to keep all of us informed and helping all of us to feel close to you. Have a great day and thank you.
Robin

Guiness and Carrot Cake for all no matter what
the outcome of the Eclipse awards. Teams Z are
the greatest. These teams represent expert racing
and retirement/breeding expertise with caring and
concern for the greatest female race horse of all
time Zenyatta !!!!!!!! Z you had such an exciting
running style. Your stretch drive in BC classic was
absolutely awesome and will go down in racing
history. RA is a talented mare with a different running
style and burned out running so much against the
boys especially the older ones in the Woodard. Your
Team is so sensitive to you that that would never happen.
I soooo hope that John Sherrifs is Eclipse Award
Winner Trainer of the year. His sensitivity and expertise
are so evident and special. I absolutely love his
noon verdicts in the barn. The best way to win over
a horse is through their stomach. Carrots and peppermints
for all!!!!!
Have a peaceful night in your warm and cozy barn
in KY. XXXOOO

Hi Zen, OMG that picture is stunningly beautiful, thank you so much Mr.& Mrs Frances for sharing just one more exceptional moment. One of my favorite quotes is:” LIFE IS NOT MEASURED BY THE NUMBER OF BREATHS THAT WE TAKE, BUT BY THE MOMENTS THAT TAKE OUR BREATH AWAY”. There have been so many of these moments I’ve enjoyed because of you and your team. Thank you all. Luv & hugs
Susan Kallen
Zenyatta, please tell Dottie how wonderful she is at channelling your thoughts. I so admire how she has been keeping your diary for you. And I’m sure you have both thought, “…a diary? WHO KNEW that we’d be doing THIS?!”
Naomi
Dear kind sweet Queen Z -in the end, what truly counts is not how many awards or how much money you have but how you have affected the lives of others and how much you are loved and cherished by all people, not just the wealthy and elite.
