Good Morning,
Today is a big THANK YOU DAY!
Look at the beautiful sky! The France family sent this photo to John and Dottie. They commented in the note…when first seeing this sky, they thought of ME! To quote Barb…”we spotted this ‘Z’ between Mt. Baker and The Sisters very early one morning last week. FIRST THOUGHT WAS… ZENYATTA!” This is so sweet! The sky looks amazing…and the BIG Z…is a WOW! Thank you for thinking of me!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SUE! May this be a healthy, joyful, and blessed year for you. I guess this January birthday thing is really popular. My horse friends and I all had a great celebration on January 1st. Enjoy your day!
I do want to extend a BIG THANK YOU to Shari Voltz’ 5th grade class in Ohio. The gifts and goodies you sent me are so appreciated. I know Sarah sent you a note…but I wanted to do so as well. I hope that all of these students are having a good time learning different things from me. This is the third class I have heard from…one from the East Coast….and another from the San Francisco area. You know how much I love children…so this means a great deal to me!
Additionally, THANK YOU for the kind comments about TEAM Z and THE SPECIAL ECLIPSE AWARD they are being honored with this year! My TEAM is so excited…and deeply honored. It has been an amazing 4 1/2 years…my time at Barn 55. I am so proud our INDUSTRY is recognizing MY TEAM for their effort, hard work and achievement.
The Awards are on January 17th in Florida. I know LOTS of photos will be shown of me that night. My friends and I will be watching from our comfy stalls at Lane’s End. Let’s hope it is a night for Carrot Cake and Guinness for ALL! We are keeping our hooves crossed…for sure!
Lastly, I know I’ve said it before…but I truly want to say THANK YOU again to ALL OF MY FANS! Your support, love, kindness, notes, photos, gifts, and hugs have really helped me to feel SPECIAL! I know how much I deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness…and my entire team feels exactly the same way! It really has been a TEAM EFFORT…AND THAT TEAM INCLUDES EACH AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU! WHAT A TIME WE HAVE ALL SHARED TOGETHER!
Dottie has a dear friend, JOY, who is extremely artistic! Joy commented to her one afternoon…”I have always felt the memories I have in my life are truly MY BEST PAINTINGS!”
With this thought in mind, I hope that in some way my time at Barn 55 has helped you to add some ‘beautiful paintings’ to your life!
With Love,
Hugs to All,
Z

Zen, I have loved your posts all along. But this one has my curiosity. You see my “maiden” name is France and I am wondering if I am related to Barb and Ron. So to them, if you have relatives in Wisconsin or the Dakota’s, contact me via Facebook. And again to Team Z, a huge and heartfelt THANKYOU!!

Queen Z… thank you for all your diary posts. Our Mom prints them out and reads them to us in the barn while we are eating our supper. We know what it’s like to be ‘lucky’ retired racehorses. Thanks for showing so many people that there is ‘life’ after the racetrack. Also, thanks for showing others what the wonderful world of horses is all about.
We are looking forward to your next post.
Love you lots!!

Hello Beautiful!
Angels indeed! Now that John can’t put his little angel on your bridle anymore, your “special angel” is letting you know she’s still watching over her special girl.
Best wishes to you all for the 17th, but no matter who gets the award, we know who really earned it.

How fitting that the clouds even sing your praises. It truly shows what you have done for people. We all love you Z. For all of us who did not fit into society’s perfect niches too short, too tall, too slow you have reminded us that we all fit. Hugs and Kisses

Dear Zenyatta,
My two Malamutes and I will be keeping our pinkies and paws crossed for you on the 17th. Regardless of who wins, all of us KNOW you’re MAGIC! An inspiration!
If you had been around in the time of Keats you may have inspired him too…
“A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.”
Betty
I so look forward to your “posts”. Afraid I get Z fever if I don’t receive one on a regular basis. Keep up the informational and fun posts and pics. We love you!!

Hi Zenny! I was just thinking about you while reading your diary. I realized how much you reflect that horses are God’s gift to us. Your magnificent beauty, strength, courage and devotion to mankind really give a person an insight into God’s personality. I wish all humans realized this like your “humans” do. So you all are keeping your hooves crossed for the Eclipse awards? LOL I don’t care how they vote. YOU are horse of the ages. I can’t get over how you ran in the Classic! I thought you were being eased at first! I was almost in tears. I was saying, “Oh my goodness!! Something’s wrong with her!! Then, all of a sudden you made your move and I was in shock! I kept thinking, “No! This isn’t possible! She can’t make up that much ground and catch Blame! But you did! That has to be one of the greatest runs a horse ever made in a race Zenny! You were hauling!!! LOL
Well Big Girl, have fun! Tell Pioneer Q I said Hi! Love you Zenny!

Hi, Z-girl,
The angels wanted to say hello with the beautiful “Z” in the sky! You really are “something else”! And so is your Team Zenyatta. All who are connected with you are so gracious and humble…what a gift you all are to the industry and to the sport. There aren’t enough accolades in the universe to cover it adequately! You deserve the HOY award, and, of course, I’m also pulling for John. He deserves the recognition and the respect of the industry for the wonderful example he has set. I know you know how wonderful he is and what wonderful care he took with you. I’m hoping it’s a sweep…. everyone connected with you are so very special! Thanks for all the posts and updates, and the pictures. Hugs, your friend, Ann Maree

And on the 7th day… GOD CREATED ZENYATTA

Dear Zenyatta, I have always thought that you were Heaven sent and now with that beautiful Z in the sky coming from the heavens, I’m sure that I was right. Mike, your wonderful Jockey would say he felt that you were Heven sent. He was close to you and he felt that. The picture is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen and of course for me and many others it has a meaning. I hope with all my heart it has something to do with you winning the HOY. This is especially nice for the Z-Team because it was announced that they will be getting a special award for the care and love they all gave you. They really deserve it and I am very happy for them. Good Luck and God Bless all of you. Have a fun week-end Zenny, we love you much.

Zenny…when I read that John always attached an angel to your bridle when you raced, it moved me to tears. Now…seeing that blazing Z in the sky just affirms what I know in my heart…you are indeed a gift from God. Thanks to the French family for sharing this magnificient photo.
You don’t have to thank me for being a fan. You deserve every bit of love and support you receive because you give it back tenfold. Extra thanks to Dottie for taking the time to share the photo and to continue being our link to YOU in cyberspace.
Darlene
Dear Z….you can see by all the wonderful comments above that you ARE the Horse of the Year/Decade for all of us. We will be keeping our hooves crossed as well. I am hoping that Dottie or Sarah will post the news as soon as you get it. I am very happy for John…such a quiet, giant. He has done a remarkable job with Team Zenyatta. What an accomplishment. Don’t ever stop writing to us.
Mary
Dear Queen Z—I’m glad people send you gifts and glad you say thank you. Do you share with less fortunate horses? I know of several places for retired (and for the most part unwanted) racehorses who could sure use some bags of carrots. Old Friends is right there close to you, they could probably even come and pick things up (they would probably do it in a heartbeat if they got to meet YOU!). Thanks Dotti for helping the Queen with her posts.
LauraJ
Lovely photo.
@Gwen, Rachel is in Kentucky at Stonestreet Farm. There are a couple of pictures of her on the farm’s Facebook page (one posted just minutes ago) along with a photo of her stall sign. You may have to go to “older posts” to see the stall sign and one of the pics. Stonestreet is making plans for her fans to visit her.

Zenyatta, such an inspiration to so many from all walks of life. When you were created it was surely heaven sent. Here’s to the right horse getting HOTY because you have earned it and deserve it. Thank you to all of your humans for keeping us lesser beings so in touch with your day to day life and events.

A Zen Sky,absolutely amazing! I am a substitute teacher and felt like having a Zen day, so I wore my Zenyatta fleece jacket yesterday to a high school. Was amazed that those who noticed wanted to know about the “horse” on my jacket. There I go educating them all about the Queen!
Joy
what makes the great Zenyatta so special is her gentleness towards all who want to interact with her.thanks again to her wonderful Team.
