Good Morning,
I have been having so much fun! I am really starting to feel like I am one very POPULAR HORSE! Thank you for writing so many nice things about me!
Yesterday, in the morning, JOHN and MARIO called. I was able to visit with them via TANGO. It was great to HEAR THEIR VOICES. In the afternoon, MY OWNERS called and we got to TANGO. I’m just getting up to speed on my “tech skills’…and being able to see and hear my friends on the phone like this is a real thrill. Technology is totally amazing to me!
Earlier today, Sarah put some footage up on my FACEBOOK page. I had some special family visitors. The children were so much fun. They also wanted to share with me that MY DADDY, STREET CRY, literally lives right by them. Their DAD works with MY DAD…and they get to see him all of the time. The whole family came to visit and brought me lots of HUGS from my DEAR DAD. Sweetly, they also told me HOW PROUD HE IS OF ME! I am so honored.
I know in the video, I am really ‘woofing’ down the carrots they brought. I’ve done this in the past…and rest assured, I do chew my food carefully. I LOVE carrots! And yes, my other friends in the barn also had lots of treats! I am quite good at sharing!
Several of you have also asked for a video of me PLAYING in the MUD. Sarah is getting here early each day and trying to get this …but I’m teasing her right now. (She is a very good sport!) Every time I see her, I jump up (covered in mud) and run right over to her! I’m sure she will figure out a clever way to surprise me soon and get video of me rolling in the mud for you…and she is trying! But for now, this is a FUN GAME I am playing with her!
When we talked about the different bandages yesterday, Cathleen asked about the ‘red’ color on some of them. Dottie included a photo above to help illustrate this for you. The red color is red chili pepper. These big white bandages are called ‘standing bandages’. They are made out of a nice cotton fabric. The primary reason for wearing them is to protect a horse’s legs while in the stall.
Thus, when I’m in my stall, moving around, laying down, sleeping, or getting up again, the intention is for these bandages to keep me from hitting, nicking, or scratching myself. Mario would dilute the red pepper so he could smear the substance on the bandages as shown in the photo. He would put just enough pepper on the fabric to keep me from ‘amusing myself by playing with them or removing them’. Doing this can be a FUN GAME FOR ME…but not Mario. In truth, I did want to cooperate and keep them on for protection! So, I’d go along with Mario’s plan and NOT touch my bandages! I was a very good girl!
At Lane’s End, they often put standing bandages on me when I am back in my stall. Again…for protection. The just want me to be totally safe.
Elena asked about Mario’s Facebook page that someone started for him. John checked it out for you…and it is under: MARIO ESPINOZA, GROOM!
WOW…just heard DON ROBINSON…who foaled and raised me…is coming to visit. It will be great to see him again! I better get ready!
Have a splendid day!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

Hi Beautiful Girl!
I can’t wait to see you rolling in the mud. I use to have a mare that loved to do that. Some times she would let me get her all brushed out, and looking good then she would run right out and throw herself down in the mud. I couldn’t help laughing at her, she just loved it.
Enjoy yourself, and will be looking forward to your next post.

Congrats to team Z on the special eclipse award—not to be negative because you certainly deserve this but I hope they aren’t giving this in lieu of HOY!!! The great Z should of had this award in 2008 and definitely should get it this year but for some reason the committee just doesn’t want to open their eyes up. If you don’t get HOY it will be terrible however rest assured that to a great many of us you will always be HOY.

Hi Zenny! I guess you know your team is getting a special award because of their care for you and the generosity they constantly showed to us, your fans! :)
Such an honor and so well deserved. I often wondered about the red stuff on you bandages and now I know! I’m sure Mario appreciated you being a good girl and not toying with them.
The video of you with the children was wonderful. Please tell your caregivers at LE we really appreciate everything you give us. I’m waiting for the mud video…
it’s going to be something really special, too!

Good Evening, Zenny:
You are the sly one aren’t you? We are all anxiously awaiting to see video of you rolling in the mud and you keep teasing Sarah. What fun! Hope Sarah finds a way to catch you while rolling, you devil. These daily posts are so special and are making so many people happy and race horse educated. I can hardly wait each day to find out the current new about you. Dottie you are a wonder. Thank you so much. Those recent pictures of Sophie are so adorable. When you “Tango” with your California family do you nuzzle the picture and recognize their voices? Glad to know that everyone is taking such good care of your legs. It has always amazed me how thin and fragile looking horses legs look beneath such a large, muscular body. Keep on enjoying every day and know you have a whole world of fans that love you and only want the best for you.
Hugs & nose kisses.

Not sure you realize just how popular you really are – or how loved! Another good post – Dottie, you are doing so much to educate everyone about horses and horse racing. Queen Z’s team deserves awards for their care of her and their contribution to horse racing. How can Zenny not get HOY when you consider all the positive attention she has brought to her sport not to mention her many accomplishments?
Elaine
Is there any way we can see a video of you when you TANGO with your Barn 55 family? That would be fun to see! You are so amazing.
Elena Erdman
Oh Queen Z. I am so honored your personally named me when I asked about Mario’s facebook. That was so awesome, it gave me chills. So Chile on the bandages. That is neat, you are always good. Having fun getting caught in a roll? Awesome. You are just so sweet you always want to come over and say Hi. Cute. Thanks for the cool post today. Dottie, you are the best for doing this for all of us fans, we just love it and smile all the time with the great information and we learning a whole lot. Love you Zen
Nancy
YOU are one smart horse! Any political plans in your future? I would vote for you in a heartbeat.
Fran
Hi Z: Glad you are having so much fun in the mud! Sarah is definitely going to sneak up on you in order to get the video. So glad you are having so many visitors. I know you know Ann’s voice so how do you react to let them know that you recognize them (you probably put your nose to the screen). Too bad they can’t give you carrots through Tango!! Love you to pieces Z!
Barbara Wood
Dearest Z–
You are so tech-savvy! You put me to shame.
I love the video of you “inhaling” your carrots. And I thought our horse was a little piggy. LOL! And he weaves his head back and forth just like you do, maybe hoping that another carrot or snack will magically appear!
Good night, sweet girl. You are the BEST ever. Love you always.
Mary Stanford
Yes Z….you are one popular horse and we all love you very much!! I love the posts…you are becoming quite the writer…Dottie has done a great job teaching you. Be sure to tell Dottie she is a great teacher. Also you are quite the Tech girl….computers and Tango. But through it all …you find time to have fun and roll in the mud…so fun!! Love to you Z …and again to the Zenyatta Team who without them …we would not get to enjoy you so much.
Stephanie Quilichini
Congrats to Team Zenyatta for their Special Eclipse Award-Please, I hope this is not a sign that she’s not getting HOY-because Team Zenyatta deserves their own award and Zenyatta deserves hers-HOY!!!

Love you our big beautiful girl!! I got to see you at Oaklawn Park when you were in the same barn as our son-in-law’s horses. I took so many pictures of you while you were walking in the shedrow, grazing behind the barn and on the track It was the biggest thrill of my life!! Loved the video of you and the kids! Looked like they were having a ball and I know you were. What you have done for thoroughbred horse racing will almost likely never be repeated and if it is, it will be along coming. Regardless of how we refer to you, Zenny, Queen Z or Zenyatta, you are loved by an soooooo many people!!
Janie
Precious Zenyatta. I wanted to thank you also for personally naming me in your blog about everyone having access to your Facebook videos. Now I know! I’m so glad you’re able to TANGO with your CA family – they all must miss you like crazy. Thank you for sharing your life with us – we all love you so much.
SUSAN
Queen Z-I had the honor of seeing u at Oaklawn both times u were there, and thoroughly enjoyed watching you win both APPLE BLOSSOMS…I’m so glad you’re taking it easy now, enjoying retirement…To watch you romp and kick is pure enjoyment. You are the most amazing thoroughbred of all time. And pretty soon, you will be a mom, and when people are watching your “kids” on a track, we’ll hear them say, “I say his or her mom do her thing”…Thank you Z, thank you so much for being a part of my lifetime.
Debbi M
What a fun, fun post, Queen Z. You are too kind to us and spoil us. :) Thank you so much for sharing yourself with us and thank you humans, too. We love you all very much!

Hi Big Mama!
I do have a question about the pepper on your bandages: When you first came to the track and Mario started caring for you, did you undo your bandages one day, or show any tendencies to taking them off? Or did Mario just start doing the pepper for preventative measures?
I ask because you dont strike me as that mischeivious. You always seem like such the prim & proper lady not to do such things. And I’ve also wanted to ask: have you ever reared up or bucked with Mario, Steve, Mike?
I know from experience that all horses have a tendency to do horsey things, esp. when excited and feeling really good but you always seem so level-headed and proper.
Thats part of your charm, ya know..this regal, intelligent diplomacy and proper lady attitude you display in public. It’s a big part of what makes you Queen Z! :)
Gail Human
Hi Zenyatta, I am so glad you are having fun. You have made so many people happy and I just love you and your diary posts. I hope I can meet you one day…if I did, I would never stop talking about it.
Sharon
another day, another reason to feel lucky to be alive during the reign of Zenyatta!! I’m SO glad you happened in my lifetime. When I saw you win the ’09 BC Classic, I screamed and yelled like a little kid (I’m 67!) what a thrill to see you then and be in touch with you through Dottie now.
LouAnn Cingel of Union, Missouri
Dear sweet Zenyatta-you are such a character and I bet you are bringing fun and happiness to the many people at Lane’s End. They sure seem to be taking excellent care of you and treat you like the Queen you are! Keep being happy dear one!
Love & Blessings to you
Snoprinz
Team Z rightfully deserved the special Eclipse Award but it should Not in any way replace the HOY award that Zenyatta rightfully deserves.it will be a missed opportunity and a travesty not to honor and acknowledge the accomplishments of this once-in-a lifetime horse that is Zenyatta.Queen Z all the way!BTW who at LE gets to bathe and clean the Queen after a roll in the mud?
Debi Hamari
Beautiful Queen Zenyatta,
As royal as you are, I cannot wait to see a video of you rolling in the mud with your voice filled with total joy. I know that they will figure out a way to get this footage so we can rejoice with you.
Thank goodness for all the great technology to keep you connected with your friends and fans all over the world. You are one sopecial and loved horse.
Love and hugs!
