Happy Friday!
The weather in Lexington has been quite ‘active’ lately and we’ve had several storm warnings. This part of my life is so different than anything I ever experienced in California. Lane’s End is exceptionally careful with us when this happens and our time outdoors is very structured and limited….if at all. Everything depends on the weather conditions and our safety.
Fortunately, TASTY and I love our stalls and are very comfy and cozy indoors. We do hope it clears up soon. This way we can get back into our ‘spending time outdoors routine’ …and things will be safer for everyone.
My days of ‘traveling alone…without a foal by my side’ are becoming more and more monitored. As of this morning, per the farm, my ‘bag’ is getting a bit larger. It is making all of the gradual changes necessary to increase in size…and I am ‘waxing a bit’. This all pertains to my udder and milk production levels which are consistently and carefully recorded all of the time now.
I must say, I never thought the words ‘bagging’ and ‘waxing’ would take on such great importance in my life! However, I have now learned when a mare is getting ready to foal…these terms become extremely significant!
From today’s report, it appears I am still on target to foal ‘sometime next week’…but nature is nature. I’ll keep you posted! As I’ve said so many times before, this is all so NEW TO ME! Thank you for your support!
This morning, my pals at BARN 55 wanted to send ME some fun….THINKING OF YOU…photos. They are wearing my NEW T-SHIRT and sending ME lots of hugs, warm greetings, and positive thoughts. They always do…but as it is getting closer and closer to my foaling experience….they really wanted to reinforce these thoughts and tell ME how much they care, think of ME, and MISS ME!
I miss you guys too….all of you….more than I can say!
So many stakes races are running the next few days…it is very busy! As always, I wish all of the horses running and their connections a wonderful time and lots of success! I’ll be really tuning into the Grade 1 races running at Santa Anita on Saturday and the Gotham for 3 year olds at Aqueduct. Focussing on racing over the weekend will not only be fun, but it will help to keep my mind busy!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Thank you, everyone, for thinking of ME!)
Z
On a very serious note….. A special hug and prayer is needed for one of my other BARN 55 pals, Dr. Leslie… who checked in on ME often when I was in California. She had a skiing accident yesterday and all of our prayers are with her at this time!
Raylene/ So Cal
Queen Z,
Everyone is in my prayers that you all stay safe from the storms and positive thoughts to the Mamas Queen Z and Tasty too!! And to all that posted links to stories today, Thank you. I love being informed.
Maryp (New York)
Very close now. Wonderful hearing from you and I know that you and all at LE are taken great care of. I pray that the storms pass you by with no problems. Prayers also for Dr Leslie to recover fully from her injuries. Love, hugs and blessings.

Jag, Oh I adore Lava Man, what a brave champion he was. Always felt that was kind of beneath him to be a pony at the track, should have gone to KHP, but I guess if he’s happy and the fans get to see him its okay. Say “HI” to him for me.
Julie DuVall / Ontario, CA
Lava Man loves his job and he is definitely the BOSS of the O’Neill barn at Hollywood Park. After he works in the morning, he is unsaddled and unbridled, then saunters over to the feed bin where he helps himself to a treat (don’t worry, he is monitored so he doesn’t eat TOO much). He’s a real character!

Thanks so much for the information on Lava Man. I just recently recorded (TVG Classic) his 2006 Hollywood Gold Cup. He was a special horse and has a great association with that race, as did one of my all time favorites, Native Diver (2 time winner as we know). I had the great pleasure of seeing the Diver in person but didn’t have that opportunity with Lava Man..
Anyway, it is such a happy story to learn that Lava Man is happy in his new life and doing such a great job with his responsibilities. Appreciate your letting us know.

LOVE Lava Man!

How exciting!!!! I miss watching the newborns trying to get up. So much determination!! Then once they get up, invariably mama knocks them down. It’s also great fun watching them trying to find the ‘lunch counter’.

I’m sending prayers for Dr. Leslie, and also for everyone out there in the path of the storms. Stay inside, in the basement, stay safe!! We here in Toledo are having a high wind warning and buckets of rain earlier, but I think the worst (I hope) is staying south of us.
Be safe Z! Can’t wait for next week!!! :):)
Marty R / Colorado
Sue, I just read your post saying you are in Toledo. I lived in Toledo during my high school years. I moved to Denver, Co. after graduating back in 1962. We’ve been having some ,”it’s a small world” moments lately here in Zenyatta’s diary with people who are or have been in Ohio. Have you ever been to Cedar Point? That has really been a common thread.
Lisa in CO
Love you, Zennie. I can’t wait to see that foal of yours. You and Tasty are both going to be wonderful moms.
You are perfection. Hoping your foal gets a little of your magic (and your wonderful blaze.
I will always miss seeig you race, but the next best thing will be seeing your frolic with a beautiful, healthy foal by your side. I know you will be happy.

Hi Zenyatta I have been thinking about you and the other Z Family members in the path of the storms. I hope everyone is doing ok. We are suppose to get hit tonight. I had Parent Teacher Conferences until 9:00 last night. We had today off. I got some things done. This helps me to not have to be a crazy on Saturday.
I want to thank you Zenyatta ( Dottie ) for telling us all about what you are going through. I never knew all these things about horses and foals. I love to learn : ) I am just so excited about the birth of your foal. You would think that Your My Horse. I think everyone on this site feels the same way. I love you so sweetheart and pray for an easy birth. You and Tasty have a good night. Hugs and Kisses, Shari XXXOOO
@ Dawn the car vinyls came in yesterday. Karen K our Band Director brought them to me. You are really going to like it. It was a fund raiser for the school. I will mail it next week : )
Dawn Conrad / Colorado
Dearest, Shari. I was thinking about you and Zenyatta all day!! Whenever I checked the Weather Channel, it looked like the path of the storms was going to hit you both. You are always in my prayers, dear friend, but I will be saying extra ones tonight!! Thank you again for the wonderful car vinyl, I can’t wait to see it. Love you!!!

Zenny,
TV is reporting that the storms are very close to Lexington. I am praying they do not come near your home at Lands End.
Be safe~
Love YOU

Monica & Linda, Debbie G posted earlier that the storms have passed thru Lexington already, and they only got heavy rain, so no worries there.
Debbie G/Kentucky
I don’t know if there are any Dumplings in southern Indiana, but they just said on the local news that the town of Marysville, Indiana is completely wiped off the map and Henryville, Indiana has major damage also. They said it also affected two basketball tournaments in Nashville. I know we have some Dumplings in Tennessee, so if you see this, PLEASE let us know that you’re OK!

Dear Z…Waxing is a sure sign you are getting close! How exciting.
A special prayer for your friend Dr.Leslie, hope she is doing ok and makes a speedy recovery.

Wow Z….every day gets more exciting. One of my best friends called today and said her first great-grandbaby will be born anytime now. She is so excited….but Z….I think I am more excited than her about you having your baby. This is so much fun. I saw above someone said Mr. & Mrs. Moss will be there. That is wonderful…..and I hope they see that lots of pictures are taken……and video…….and hope can share with us fans. Stay safe with all this crazy weather…..but I know they take good care of you. Hugs to you Z…..I hope it is a girl!!! :)

Hi Zenny: I am praying that YOU, Tasty and all Z’sters living in the storm hit states are okay. I am watching the news now and the storm is on the ground in KY. It is about 7pm in KY. They say town after town is being hit. Oh my Zenny, I hope YOU and Tasty are okay. The said that 78 tornados have hit so far.
Give us an update if you can.
Love you Zenny.
Helen
Sending Prayers for a healthy delivery for our Queen Z and and very healthy baby

KikaSim
Ah, Zenny, I’m sorry I haven’t commented in a while, but I’m always reading(:
I will definitely send prayers to dear Dr. Leslie. I hope she gets well soon!!
On the other hand… I am almost jumping off the walls (as my family says) about your soon to come foal! Of course, “Horse,” and especially “Horse Racing,” is a foreign language to them. Next week! Wow! We’ll just have to wait and see! Love ya big girl!
Keri Mattingly
So glad to hear that you, Tasty and all of your friends are safe after today’s horrific weather. It was a very tense and frightening time and we are hoping that all of our Equine friends, and human friends are all okay after Indiana was hit terribly hard. Glad to hear that you are progressing nicely and look forward to the big day when your little one comes into the world!
Susan from Fl
Happy to hear you’re all tuck in! Stay safe all! Peace & Happiness to U!
Heidi Kruckenberg (Vallejo, Ca)
Ok first off… I talked to Lisa from TN a lil while ago. The storm missed her house but, the devestation is all around the area. They’ve been in the basement all day long and have no internet service. So, she wanted to let everyone here know that she’s ok and as far as her horses go, they are too.
Now, Zenny… If you’re starting to wax up, we should have the prince or princess on the ground within the next couple of days/nights. I’m still hoping for tomorrow: Big Cap day!! Will Dottie post a Diary for you when the big event happens? So, we (dumplings) can be the first (media wise) to know? How exciting!!!!!!
Everyone that is in the wake of this nasty weather, please keep us informed on how you are doing!
Anne and Jerry Moss… Please use every precaution on you’re way to welcome Zen’s baby! Be safe, please!!!
Debbie G/Kentucky
Thanks for letting us know about Lisa and her horses, Heidi!

Guys, everyone in Central KY/Lexington area, are o.k. Storms are past (8:55pm). Most of the damage seems to have been in Northern KY & Southeastern KY. Seems it was all around us, and Lexington did see some heavy downpours & thunder. Here in Nicholasville, just a few minutes out of Lexington, we didn’t see much of anything. I didn’t hear the weather guys mentioning Woodford County/Midway where Zenny it at all.
Kim
Robyn Mullhausen
Kim, thanks for that update on the weather in Zenny’s area.
Debbie G/Kentucky
Hi Kim. It’s good to know there’s a fellow central Kentuckian on here. I live in Lexington, so we’re practically neighbors! I’m glad you didn’t have any damage there. There wasn’t any here either, thank God. Too bad not everyone was as lucky.
Dawn Conrad / Colorado
Kim, thank you for the information. It makes me feel so much better to hear from all of you that actually live in the area.
Tiffany
Zenny please tell lanes end to record having your baby or maybe putting up a cam for us to watch!! And please record your babies first steps!!! <3

Good evening Zee & Tee,
hope you’re all doing alright, what an awful day all over the eastern part of the country.
Well, little ladies I guess you’re getting close. You’re in a good place, in good hands, watched over, let’s hope the weather co-operates.
Dr. Leslie had a skiing accident, speedy recovery to her.
Speaking of skiing, Lindsey Vonn captured the super-G in the World Cup race. It’s her18th, and she beat Renate Goetschel from Austria for that record. And Bode Miller is out for this year, knee’s giving him trouble, but he’ll be back next year.
Rest peaceful & dream sweet

Good news about Lindsey! Thanks, Sunny.
