Good Morning,
I guess BABIES are a very popular topic everywhere these days. At home, in California, MY JOHN and Dottie live very close to MY MIKIE….and they often run into each other when out in the community. The other evening, they happened to see each other at THE DERBY RESTAURANT. Mike arrived with some friends of his and then they all got together and visited.
MY JOHN just had to capture this photo to share with you. It is MY MIKIE playing with his friend’s baby, LELIA. It amazes ME how small human babies are. From what I’m hearing, MY FOAL will be approximately 125 pounds or so when born and up and walking around relatively soon after birth!
MY MIKIE asked about ME and wanted a complete update on how I am doing. He has been to the farm several times to visit ME since I’ve been in Kentucky and commented he can’t wait to see ME ‘running’ in the paddock with my first foal!
I AGREE! I CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN MYSELF!
I’d also like to thank TVG for doing an update yesterday ‘on my soon to be a MOM status’ for MY FANS. They visited with Dottie and shared so many of my racing and current photos…many from the DIARY! They even have a ‘countdown’ taking place on set monitoring the days until they think I’ll foal.
I must say, the next several days could be very exciting for several reasons. There are actually 2 BIG countdowns taking place….ME and the number of days until I foal….and MY MIKIE needing 7 more wins to reach 5000! Last night, he told MY JOHN he has several very ‘live mounts’ over the weekend….so HOOVES CROSSED!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

I live close to Santa Anita, and I am happy to report that there were no high winds here last night.
I am praying very hard for those of you in the affected storm areas of the Midwest/South today, especially for five people who are very dear to me. All of you, please be extra-extra careful, and stay safe.
I am wondering if large swings in the barometric pressure can have the same effect on pregnant mares as it can on pregnant humans?

Of course you never know, but I would think that horrid weather is more likely the reason for no new Diary post yet today. I would think Dottie might be glued to a webcam on Zenny, or on the phone with her son David, or others at L.E., to keep tabs on what’s happening right there, in real time.

Ms Zenyatta, no new post, and the CA Dumplin’s have kept us up to date with the weather iin CA, giving us reason for no new post, probably. My concern is all the tornadoes, in all the sates, my prayers, my prayers, my prayers. I will have to find out about my cousin in AL. Just saw the news that the tornado path is heading toward Louisville, KY. I really thought this Spring would be mild, due to last year’s devasting weather. I pray that these storms would just go away, move the mountain, NOW. I love you, will continue tracking the storms, and check with you later….I love you and tell Tasty I love her…Lisag

Well, it’s the beginning of March. It sounds like you could be getting close so, ready or not I’ll start boiling the water and pacing the floor. Two things that humans especially the dads supposedly do unless they’re in the room with Mom although there was a time that wasn’t allowed. I’ll eagerly be awaiting news. Stay warm and dry and take it easy. Looking forward to seeing your little one.

I work on the 2nd floor, I look out the window, not even a breeze…the birds fly by happily…I pray that the MidWest and the South will have the same, NOW!

Dear Zenyatta fans near or around any of these storms. Stay safe!!!! Keep us posted as best as you can.
Helene – my deepest sympathies to you. Yes, Zenyatta’s website is a haven for hearts that hurt. It is a healing place too. A refuge from life’s storms. Please visit again and again.
Gary – I only hope to be as good a Granny as yours. I have 3 and I love them dearly.
I’m off to visit my 90+ godparents with my dog, Tessa. They are wild about German Shepherds and they have not yet met her.
Adorable folks, a bit frail but “hanging in there” ( her words!!!!)
I got another e mail from Steve today in Afghanistan, asking if I’ll watch grandkids when he has a trip to Naples – wants to take his wife. A RESOUNDING YES, YES, YES!!! So thinking positive and he is one day closer to putting his feet on friendly American soil.
Save racing tomorrow. Go Mr. Commons!!!

What is up with this weird weather. We’ve had a mild winter (it actually got up to 54 a few days ago) and right now it’s rain/sleet/snow and high winds. I know it’s just a strange coincidence, but every major storm we’ve had this winter occurred on a Friday! Hope Z and company are ok – I know they’re in good hands and her “people” will do everything in their power to keep her safe and calm.
Stephanie
Zenny, stay safe my baby girl, the weather is bad and all I have done is worry about your welfare, keep that cotton in your ears if you still have some and remember how much you are loved by all xoxoxoxox

Zenyatta, I love babies-human and animal. You are very observant to notice that human babies are very small and very light in comparison to foals, which weigh 125 lbs. or so when born and pretty much start walking right away. You are a fast learner. You will learn even more than that once your foal is born and starts growing up. I saw the TVG update on you. I’ll bet you were happy to see them! Mike Smith and John & Dottie sound like really good friends. They seem to run into each other all over town. You say Mike is a few wins away from 5000. That will really be a momentous occasion. It sounds like he has been racing for a very long time. He is very devoted and dedicated to you, the horse he used to ride before you retired. When he comes out to Lane’s End Farm to visit you, do you know who he is? Or does he look like just another Lane’s End Farm employee? He is keeping up with you pretty well and Lord knows I try to. It isn’t always easy, believe me!
