Happy Friday!

I wanted to share with YOU some of the new experiences taking place in my life these days! Needless to say, Tasty and I are personally sharing all of these activities together! We are having SO MUCH FUN!


Yesterday, I was hand-walked around my new paddock. Matt was with ME every moment throughout the ‘new adventure’. All of this one-to-one time was given so I could have every opportunity to ‘check it all out’ and get completely acquainted with every inch of my new grazing areas and outdoor surroundings. It took some time, but I truly enjoyed every single moment! My dear pal, MATT, is so sweet and incredibly patient with ME. After completely touring my new paddock area, I must tell you…I was so happy…I BEGAN TO DANCE!!

I am such a FORTUNATE HORSE!


It was also a special time for ME when I was introduced to MY NEW STALL. I’ve heard it was freshly painted recently getting ready for ME. (Great job, guys! It looks fabulous!) I have an open area in the upper portion of my stall door so I can put my head out and see everything going on in the shed row. You know ME…I don’t want to miss a thing! Also, this is great news! When we are in our new barn, TASTY’s stall is located directly across from ME…just like always…so we can relax, visit, and have a wonderful time! We are the best of friends!

My new stall in the ‘foaling barn’ is rather spacious, cheerful, and quite lovely. Being a very curious horse, once inside the stall for the first time, I wanted to investigate every inch of the space. It is absolutely perfect!


TASTY agrees! She is extremely happy with all of her new surroundings and experiences as well!

At this time, I’d also like to take a moment and thank you for sharing all of these special and cherished moments in my life with ME! It is such an exciting time!

Please enjoy your weekend and all of the great racing taking place around the country! It is our wonderful sport of Thoroughbred Horse Racing that brought ALL OF US together!

There is so much going on these days! I love it! Giants or Patriots….which is YOUR CHOICE??? I hope it is a close score! Championship games are so much more FUN to watch when they are really competitive! I guess you can say I am someone who loves the excitement in sports of CLOSE FINISHES!

    Yes, Zenny is barefoot, shortly after BCC 2010
    Her aluminum racing shoes were taken off and
    She had regular horse shoes. When she arrived
    At Lanes End she had her shoes removed and
    Her hooves are regularly trimmed by the farrier
    That comes there, probably along with all the other
    Broodmares.

      Hi,
      Thanks so much for letting me know! My OTTB/hunter/jumper finally got to be barefoot when she was in her 20’s and morphed into a dressage horse. It took a while for her to adjust but then she did extremely well. I’m glad that Zenyatta gets to go barefootin’ too. Really appreciate the info!

    @all…re-mr shoemaker…favorite race….his winning Santa anita derby on Silky Sullivan…they came from 27-28 back to win…absolutely flying
    ZENNY….happy Saturday to you and Tasty…know you both are putting your personal touchs on your new digs…I am sure it will be just right soon…
    @football fans…hubby is 49er…but likes Eli..as for me….DA BEARS…always..no matter what
    FOAL WATCH…..my son born Feb 25th…so I will.go with that…but have niece born on march 9th….so could fall back to there with John Henry

    Hi Lady Z, You are such a beatuiful mare. I enjoy reading your meassages every day. I want to say thank you to all your people staff that do such a great job of taking care of you, Tasty and all the other mares. What a wonderful honor for them to be with such great horses. I am keeping my fingers crossed that your foal is born on March 7th. It is my brothers birthday and also the day he passed from cancer an went to rest in God’s arms. It would be wonderful to have your foal born on this very special day. If that is too soon for you, March 11th would be great too. That is my birthday. But any day your foal to be born will be special in my heart, just like you are. I love you so much Lady Z. Happy Foaling !! Lucky

    I see you haven’t lost that step. I was just wondering, since you are the Queen, was your stall modified to be larger than the others…again you are the Queen! You enjoy your new place and have fun baby girl because you deserve it.

      Terry, I’m getting caught up today. LoL, I very much enjoyed from a couple days ago “You might be a redneck if you drive someone to the hospital in an U-Haul truck.” True, but that would be low.

      Today, I’m fond of “if one or more of the doors to your house are unusable due to nesting fowl.” But I don’t even want to think about “don’t change your socks until the last pair rots off,” as it reminds me too closely of a few remote in-law relatives, about which I am thinking of writing, because some of the stuff is so unbelievable, of the ”truth is stranger than fiction’ kind.

        Okay, Terry, here goes. As I have indicated the strong presence of redneck genes in various parts of my remote ‘family’, and inspired by today’s humor, I am penning my first entry in the “redneck relatives” category, for the redneck club.

        You might be a redneck relative, if you have to shower with cold water, because the gas company cut you off, when you refused to pay the bill because they raised the rate. You might be a redneck relative, if you share your bathtub cold shower with two balled peach trees, because you brought them home from the nursery, but “just didn’t find the time” to plant them. You might be a redneck relative, if after months and months, your peach trees have now shed their leaves in the tub. You might be a redneck relative, if those leafless, lifeless, balled “trees” were still in the bathtub, when the house was eventually sold, and you moved.

      Terry! HA HA, gotta love your redneck jokes! I can not top Sue Fredricks response…just too funny. But, I do know that dead limbs don’t support much weight at all. My brother years ago fell with the dead limb and broke his wrist. We were always up to some kind of innocent trouble.

      OMG: I am going to have to watch this from work and really look closely at any crowd photos to see if I catch a glimpse of my Mom, Dad, and ME!!! We were there. What a horse – the “heart attack kid”.

    Zenny! It CAME! I was SO disappointed when people were saying that their plushies had arrived yesterday (not to mention worried because I live on a corner and delivery services like UPS etc tend to leave packages at my front door, which gets used about once every 5 years, rather than at the side where my mailbox is. I had visions of someone ELSE enjoying you and baby Z, but I guess I just live farther away from the distribution point. You are sitting on “my chair” in the living room :-) and have already been photographed for distribution to those who might appreciate such a thing. You are TOO CUTE! Hope you are enjoying the weekend. It is February 4th and we have NO snow on the ground here in NE Ohio (YEA!)

    Dear Zenyatta…… My mailman /mail woman brought me your plushie and foal today. Too much fun. I have regressed to a 10 year old. My neighbor 2 doors down ( man) loves the ponies too and goes to Saratoga in the summer and he was out in the front yard today and I said, You have to see what I got today!!!! He is a guy…… of course, but he thought it was cute…… I LOVE IT!!!!!

    on a more serious note, dear Sequoia, rest in peace and run in the fields and dig in the dirt. You are free from pain. Take heart in knowing you did right by him.

    P.S. How could you NOT love Alpha? He’s out of a daughter of one of my great loves — Nijinsky II !!! So he’s potentially got it all (knock on wood) — a little Secretariat, a little more AP Indy, a little more Nijinsky II….. Hoping he lasts on the Derby Trail. This is always the part that’s hard to call unless you’re at the track every single day….or Steve Haskin! How many Derby contenders have I wished upon, only to find that they couldn’t endure THE TRAIL to the DERBY? Of course, I’m by no means forecasting “doom & gloom” folks. Other than Alpha, I’ve got to admit being very taken with Discreet Dancer & Out of Bounds, as well as the frontrunners Hansen & Union Rags.

      Abigail, sadly, so far, just since December, we’ve lost 5 of the 3 yr olds on the Derby Trail. Two had to be euthanized (For Oby and Bellacourt — RIP :(

    My Z plushie arrived today and I love it! Most of my friends don’t understand why someone my age with no kids would buy a stuffed animal, but I don’t care. They don’t know what they’re missing out on by not being obsessed by our Queen!

    When I saw the picture of you with the foot in dance mode, I started to smile and it was all over my face and went straight to my heart.     Lynn Martin, congratulations on the success Brooke and Oli had at the dog show. I just watched the Eukanuba National Championship today and Westminister is just around the corner. I really enjoy them! I so admire you as an owner, breeder who also shows her dogs. It is a fantastic occomplishment which requires alot of hard work! I am very happy for you!!!!

    @Margaret: Thanks, for explaining what will happen when Zenny gets ready to deliver. It will be a special,special moment to see Zenny’s face when she looks at that little foal for the first time……. I hope someone (hint hint)….. can get a picture. I bet John is getting his camera ready and the Mosses will have their jet on Ready,Set,Go when they here —–ZENYATTA’S WATER BROKE!!!!!! Tasty, I have to give you a big HELLO AND A BIG HUG!!!!!! I ‘m thinking PINK, but BLUE for Tasty. Go Giants!!!!!

      The Mosses et al. had better be there before her water breaks. Once that happens, delivery usually occurs in about 20 minutes.
