Hello Everyone,
At times, I would imagine we all do this, individuals mentally review the different things going on in their lives. A moment of quiet reflection can be such a positive thing. I usually do this type of ‘thinking’ when I am out walking quietly in my paddock…enjoying the environment, nature, and all of the beauty and peace surrounding ME.
This morning, while I was out grazing and snacking in my paddock, I admittedly came to the conclusion that I have put on a ‘bit of weight’ lately! Not too much….the proper amount…but my body has definitely changed!
While I was contemplating this thought, and of course APPRECIATING the fact that I am currently eating for TWO, I did conclude that I look rather fabulous for a mare at this stage of her pregnancy. My coat is great…my dapples are glowing…and my muscles are still quite ‘toned up’. Having been a professional athlete for so many years, these qualities are extremely important to ME!
Thus, upon reflection, I must say that I have put on the necessary ‘baby weight’, however, I did want to give myself a HIGH HOOF for taking such great care of myself and my body! Without a doubt, I could not do all of this without the loving assistance from my pals here at Lane’s End. They, too, work hard to be sure I am always doing everything right!
At this very moment, while I was deep in thought on all of this, Sarah happened to be driving by my paddock going from one part of the farm to the main office. When she saw ME standing so close to the fence…she jumped out of her car and took this photo. We thought it would be special to share with ALL OF YOU this morning!
YES, HAPPILY…IT’S ME…BABY BUMP and ALL!
Sweetly, Sarah stayed around for a bit. We visited, we played, and we caught up on everything going on in our ‘horse world’. It has definitely been a ‘FUN and FEEL GOOD’ morning!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (I hope you do something FUN today!)
Z

For those on Facebook, Horsetrader.hu has some great horse photos from Hungary (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Horsetraderhu/148573848487060?sk=photos), including inside a luxury stable in Dubai (linked in the middle of the top row). And another set (linked in row 3) of a foal being born (a little unnerving for me). Overall, a lot of interesting pics.

Thanks for the link, I signed the card as well. It was an honor to wish her Happy Birthday!
Barbara Wood (Texas)
I tried, but it wouldn’t accept my number combination.
Sue Fredrick - Wisconsin
Me too, it kept asking for a letter and # combo and there wasn’t any letter listed. I want to wish her a happy birthday but it won’t work.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Barbara & Sue, even though it says “letter & number combination”, there were only two numbers to add (e.g. 5 + 8), so I just put the sum (13) in the little box right after the “=” sign. Then I put in my Birthday message in the box above that, as well as my name & email, and clicked “Submit”. It said it will be posted after being reviewed. So try again, and Good Luck!

Thank you, Gloria, for the link and thank YOU, Vicki B, for explaining how to enter the sum in the little box!

Thank you for this beautiful video. I will absolutely adopt a retired racer one day. Nothing more moving than a greyhound and thoroughbred in full run. Our therapy group has a few retired racers, they are wonderful sensitive therapy dogs. My favorite color is brindle, the mix I have now is a dark brindle.

Linda B., thank you for sharing this beautiful video. It brought tears to my eyes.

Zenny – I hope you and Tasty enjoyed the time you spent with each other out in the paddock today.
Sarah – thanks for the lovely picture of Zenny. You can really tell close up how heavy in foal she is.
From Post #424:
@Heidi Kruckenberg (Vallejo, CA) – War Horse was also nominated for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score. I don’t know why they didn’t dominate Finders Key for Best Actor. I would have loved to have heard his acceptance speech!!! I too usually wait until the movie is out on DVD before watching it.
@signofthetimes – you are so correct, especially when it comes to talent. My professor of my Large Animal class trains horses (non-racing) and she says that talent is more important than pedigree. I agree, but I believe that pedigree as well as conformation does help when it comes to surface and distance. There are aberrations, i.e., not running to their pedigree, but for the most part it’s an excellent frame of reference. I saw the Green Monkey when he ran his maiden race at Belmont Park. I took several pictures of him – you don’t see a $16 million dollar horse but once in a life time if that. I read that he had injuries while he was a two-year old and he never was able to get back to the form that he was in when he ran an eighth of a mile in: 9 4/5 during the Fasig-Tipton Florida Select Sales for 2-year-olds in training.

Thank you for the explanation, Doreen, of why he didn’t live up to expectations!

Oh yes, for sure Zenyatta, you and your baby bump look exceptionally good. They at Lane’s End are taking excellent care of you as it shows by the way you look. So glad that you are doing so well and are so happy. It really is great that all the people associated with you, share their pics of you with us all out here-thanks lots to them.
You take care of yourself and your baby bump, before you know it, the little bump will be out and standing right next to you Zenyatta!
Sending my Love & Blessings!

Still thinking about you Z, ummmm, what could I get for you for your baby z that you won’t already have. I haven’t been an Auntie to a horse before and this is sooooo exciting. ummm, I’ll keep thinking! love, kisses on your soft nose. Auntie Sally

Hi Zenyatta. Please thank Sarah for posting all of the gorgeous pictures of you with baby bump. You look simply wonderful. Where was Tasty? Loved the poster of Rapid Redux and the video of famous horses as foals. Too cute. Thank you also for providing the link to posting a happy birthday wish to Ms. Chenery. Everyone on this site is always so wonderful and thoughtful. How many more days do we think before Zenyatta’s baby is born? Just love this foal watch. Hopefully, we can watch baby romping in the paddock. Can’t wait to see Zenyatta’s and Tasty’s foals playing together. Will they keep them all together in the same paddock area? Zenyatta and Tasty, please stay toasty, eat well for two and enjoy these wonderful times together. Love you, Angels.

Zenyatta, it must be really nice for you to be alone, walking around in your paddock, thinking and reflecting and sorting things out in your mind. I do that all the time. I know you’ll be doing much much more of that when you enter the final stages of your pregnancy. It sounds like the staff of Lane’s End Farm are working really hard to make sure you are eating right, resting properly, and keeping you at the right weight during your in foal time. They deserve many kudos as do you.
Linda Edwards in NJ
Hi Zenny: You always offer such encouragement to all of us. It is very easy for all of us to put on weight even when not eating for two. Especially during the holidays. Then afterwards, it is really tough to get back into the swing of things and start exercising and eating healthy. That’s the tough part. So I think I will take your advice and go do my exercises.
Take care Zenny. We are getting more and more excited each day now — waiting to hear your updates and any news on your baby!!! We love you!!!!!
Brigid
Z, you look simply MAAAAAAAAAHHHHVELOUS, DAHHHHLING!

Zenny, you are such a beautiful mother to be. I can’t thank Sarah enough for all the fantastic photos she has been sharing with us.
Your thoughts today are very timely for me…the importance of taking good care of yourself and taking time to appreciate the beauty all around you. You never cease to inspire us, dear Z.
I heard that parts of the country are under tornado watch. I hope that all who are experiencing inclement weather stay safe.
Take good care, Z, Tasty, and everyone!

Hi Zenny , so gladto see that Sarah took time to play with you. You need the attention because of all the attention that you recieved as a race horse and not just any Race horse but the Queen of racing. I don’t think that will ever leave you because of your greatness. I hope that all that was involved in that will remember always that you need the attention. I know there is so much love out there for you and hope that you are able to realize it. I love you Zenyatta and only wish you were closer to home in California to see you and show you how much love is here for you, it is enormous.

Dear Friends, Marilu V, who returned just a week ago from visiting family in the Philippines, has received a call saying her dear 94-year-old mother is failing and may not last the week. Marilu has made arrangements to fly back to the Philippines and says she accepts her mother’s situation and would appreciate prayers that her mother be granted to pass peacefully. I invite you to join me on the virtual candle site under the group name MARIV. Thank you.

Sometimes connections to others through our own experiences speak loud. Your post makes me think of my own mum, now 92, and I realize my wishes for her would be the same as those of Marilu for her mother. My prayers for Marilu and her mum. May she pass peacefully.

Prayers are heading to the Philippines from California for Marilu’s mom.

Hi Zenyatta and Tasty – I’m sure you are sleeping now. I still haven’t caught up on all the posts, but I found this gem in the New York times about the real star of Warhorse.
I wonder if a movie will be made of your life someday. You would have to be the star as no one could compare…. interesting article…http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/25/sports/finders-key-from-far-back-in-the-pack-to-the-lead-in-war-horse.html?src=recg
