Hello Everyone,

At times, I would imagine we all do this, individuals mentally review the different things going on in their lives. A moment of quiet reflection can be such a positive thing. I usually do this type of ‘thinking’ when I am out walking quietly in my paddock…enjoying the environment, nature, and all of the beauty and peace surrounding ME.

This morning, while I was out grazing and snacking in my paddock, I admittedly came to the conclusion that I have put on a ‘bit of weight’ lately! Not too much….the proper amount…but my body has definitely changed!

While I was contemplating this thought, and of course APPRECIATING the fact that I am currently eating for TWO, I did conclude that I look rather fabulous for a mare at this stage of her pregnancy. My coat is great…my dapples are glowing…and my muscles are still quite ‘toned up’. Having been a professional athlete for so many years, these qualities are extremely important to ME!

Thus, upon reflection, I must say that I have put on the necessary ‘baby weight’, however, I did want to give myself a HIGH HOOF for taking such great care of myself and my body! Without a doubt, I could not do all of this without the loving assistance from my pals here at Lane’s End. They, too, work hard to be sure I am always doing everything right!

At this very moment, while I was deep in thought on all of this, Sarah happened to be driving by my paddock going from one part of the farm to the main office. When she saw ME standing so close to the fence…she jumped out of her car and took this photo. We thought it would be special to share with ALL OF YOU this morning!

YES, HAPPILY…IT’S ME…BABY BUMP and ALL!

Sweetly, Sarah stayed around for a bit. We visited, we played, and we caught up on everything going on in our ‘horse world’. It has definitely been a ‘FUN and FEEL GOOD’ morning!

    It’s been a big change for YOU as you’ve transitioned from racing shape to Queen Mama shape. But YOU are one lucky girl who has never experienced tough conditions that so many other Thoroughbreds face post racing.

    YOU are an inspiration for all Thoroughbreds to be treated well after racing. Bless all those who adopt the many TB’s and give them good homes.

    Not much longer until your “Big Day”. No doubt we have some great races to look forward to between your baby and Rachal Alexander’s colt. My money is on your baby!!!

      Thank you for sharing this. I really don’t understand why we can’t just leave them alone & let them live in peace. Really who are they hurting? Sometimes i think people won’t be happy until every creature lives in a cage. We should be celebrating that there are still wild horsed left in this country.

    Hi Z! I must say that you look stunning pregnant! Guess what? Kate’s trainer is expecting a baby on February 14th! Well, that is the due date and on Sunday we went to her baby shower. She received so many wonderful gifts; changing table, stroller, lots of baby clothes and tons of diapers! You are so lucky that all you might need is a baby blanket!!!! LOL! I surmise that you will receive lots of baby gifts too-from all of your fans! That has to be really exciting! Hope you have an absolutely wonderful day Z! xxoo!

    Oh what a sweet post!! Sarah,you take such wonderful pictures of Zenyatta and obviously have such a loving relationship with her! I really think you must have one of the best jobs in the world!! You are lucky to be in each other’s lives–and we are lucky to receive so many glimpses into the times you spend together. Thank you SO much for everything you do for precious Zenyatta–and for us!!

    Just saw “War Horse” for the fourth time last weekend!! It was leaving and I just HAD to see it one more time. Don’t know how long it will be before it will be out on DVD but I surely will buy it when I can.Am going to order the score this weekend,after I get paid. I’m so happy that it got several Academy Award nominations–very cross that the director was not nominated!!He makes such marvelous films and I think this was one of his best ever!!

    Have loved all of the recent Diary entries and all of the marvelous photos–I’m just behind on everyone’s comments! If anyone has given me a shout-out to which I have not responded,I wasn’t ignoring you,just haven’t seen all Zsters posts yet!!

    Could someone refresh my memory on the exact dates for the BC weekend—is it the first weekend in Nov.??? As soon as I get my tax refund,I want to order my plane tickets. I’m so lucky that my daughter lives in Irvine,so I can stay with her and then just drive up!!

      Welcome back, Sue! Yes–the first weekend in Nov. My plans are to arrive on Wednesday and leave on Sunday. Please be aware that American will no longer be flying into Burbank. We had to switch to Ontario airport.

    I work in a high school library, so I read a lot of young adult fiction. I just finished a wonderful book called The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. You can read my review here: http://mohighlibrary.wordpress.com/2012/01/25/book-review-the-scorpio-races/
    I wanted to share this book with all the Z fans out there because it is a rare example of a horse book that gets it right! The horses in the story all ring true, even the magical ones. I fell in love with Dove and Corr and I think other horse lovers will, too. The ending was simply beautiful.
    This book was just named a Michael L. Printz Award Honor Book at the American Library Association convention. This is a prestigious award for the best young adult fiction (kind of like the Newbery Award for children’s books) — the YA equivalent of being a finalist for Horse of the Year!

    Your beautiful photo and diary post makes my heart so happy, as always. It is so great that Sarah was able to stop by and snap the picture and share some special time with you and then that could be shared with those of us who love you from afar. After a kind of rough morning with my kitty having a seizure, I was in need of this uplifting message from you. Thank you, Zenyatta…Dottie, Mosses and John and all of Barn 55 and Lane’s End for being there, for caring for our Queen and benefiting all of us in the process. Beautiful.

        Thank you, Dawn. She’s been having a pretty rough time of it lately, but having that seizure this morning just threw us all for a loop. She seems to be resting fine now and we’re just keeping an eye on her – closely. Sweet, sweet kitty. Thank you.

      Hi Celeste. My heart goes out to you. My late Maine Coon, Kali, started to have seizures or mini-strokes. Please don’t think I intend this in a negative way, but if the seizure was indeed a mini-stroke, you should probably get her to the vet because often this is a “first warning.” Kali dropped dead about 3 weeks after her first seizure/mini-stroke. I had taken her to the vet but she got so upset (+ she was older) that he could only do minimal tests. If the seizure is not a mini-stroke but a seizure related, perhaps, to diabetes, it’s still worth checking out. I am, in any case, sending you and your sweetheart the BEST KARMA possible!

      Celeste, I hope your kitty gets better soon. I have 3 female kitties and couldn’t stand it if something is wrong with any of them. They are our babies!

    Sweet Zenny – Tis the season, after the holidays and festivities, for all of us to contimplate our health, physique and general body image. I think I can safely speak for those that love you – you are in fine shape and continue to be a role model for us all!

    The nice thing is that with your BFF, Tasty, you can look out for each other and cheer each other on! And I am sure that Life Is Sweet is waiting in the wings to welcome you back post-baby delivery.

    You look so peaceful and happy. A big thanks to Sarah for stopping to take such a lovely picture. Wouldn’t it be fabulous if your baby and Rachael’s baby would race together. Maybe we would see the matchup that we so hoped would happen when you both were racing.

    CALLING ALL Z’ISTERS!
    GREAT NEWS! WE ARE HELPING TO MOVE MARLENE CLOSER TO RESCUING THOSE 6 HORSES AT THE FEED LOT IN NEVADA. ONLY $1,700 MORE IS NEEDED. THIS IS EXCELLENT PROGRESS. MARLENE TOLD ME MOST OF THE RECENT DONATIONS ARE FROM US! HER COMMENT WAS — THESE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING — AND SHE IS RIGHT! YOU ARE AMAZING. DUMPLINGS RULE!

    I THINK ZENNY AND TASTY WOULD WANT TO KNOW THAT THESE 6 ARE SAFE AND SOUND LIKE THEY ARE. LET’S HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN.

    MARLENE ALSO SAID SHE HAS A HOME FOR THE PALOMINO MARE WHERE SHE WILL GET A GREAT START IN TRAINING AND SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS INTERESTED IN ADOPTING THE GELDING FOR A 4-H PROJECT.     HI ZENNY FAMILY. IT IS A SUNNY DAY HERE IN THE EASTERN PART OF WV. I REALLY LOVE THE SUNSHINE. HUMIDY I CAN LIVE WITHOUT. THURSDAY AND FRIDAY ARE TO BE WET HERE, SO I DID NOT CLEAN UP THE CAR. I WILL BE SO HAPPY TO SEE THE HORSES COATS ALL SLEEK AND MY CONVERIBLE CLEAN. IT ISNT THAT FAR OFF. THE FOAL WATCH GIVES US SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TOO WITH MUCH DELIGHT…SHERRY
