Hello Everyone,
At times, I would imagine we all do this, individuals mentally review the different things going on in their lives. A moment of quiet reflection can be such a positive thing. I usually do this type of ‘thinking’ when I am out walking quietly in my paddock…enjoying the environment, nature, and all of the beauty and peace surrounding ME.
This morning, while I was out grazing and snacking in my paddock, I admittedly came to the conclusion that I have put on a ‘bit of weight’ lately! Not too much….the proper amount…but my body has definitely changed!
While I was contemplating this thought, and of course APPRECIATING the fact that I am currently eating for TWO, I did conclude that I look rather fabulous for a mare at this stage of her pregnancy. My coat is great…my dapples are glowing…and my muscles are still quite ‘toned up’. Having been a professional athlete for so many years, these qualities are extremely important to ME!
Thus, upon reflection, I must say that I have put on the necessary ‘baby weight’, however, I did want to give myself a HIGH HOOF for taking such great care of myself and my body! Without a doubt, I could not do all of this without the loving assistance from my pals here at Lane’s End. They, too, work hard to be sure I am always doing everything right!
At this very moment, while I was deep in thought on all of this, Sarah happened to be driving by my paddock going from one part of the farm to the main office. When she saw ME standing so close to the fence…she jumped out of her car and took this photo. We thought it would be special to share with ALL OF YOU this morning!
YES, HAPPILY…IT’S ME…BABY BUMP and ALL!
Sweetly, Sarah stayed around for a bit. We visited, we played, and we caught up on everything going on in our ‘horse world’. It has definitely been a ‘FUN and FEEL GOOD’ morning!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (I hope you do something FUN today!)

So sorry to hear that. Yes, I will be praying for Marilu. Thank you for letting us know, Trina.

Sorry Trina. That was supposed to be a reply, not a post. The gremlins must be out this morning. Anyway, my thoughts and prayers will be with Marilu and her dear mother.

To all those on Z-s website that are facing health and other challenges that can take their toll on all of us, know that this place is a haven of peace, comfort, good wishes and empathy for all of you. Please know that we think of all of you. It’s always good to know that Zenyatta comes from such a good place that we can find comfort in her good news and it helps make the day so much better. For that dear Dottie, we are forever in your debt and you have my undying gratitute and affection.
Pati – I’m very interested in how you were able to reserve tickets for the BC. I signed up for their early posting, info, etc. and got an e mail that the tickets are not available as yet nor reservations. High hoofs to you if you already know where you are seated!!! Did you go directly through Santa Anita? I so don’t want to miss out on a spot.
Zenyatta and TT – take care of your precious cargo and we are all excited for you and your extended family. Thank you Lane’s End for your care of our “Queen”.
also, Mad about Smarty- What a story, such a happy ending for this incredible boy. And his new owner. She sounds like such a sweetheart. Glad to see her dream came true.

CALLING ON ALL HORSE ADVOCATES
Today in Reno NV the Honorable Judge McKibben will hear arguments to and con for Humane Care for the Wild Ones. Last summer Laura Leigh got video that was caught by Youtube as being not kid friendly.
This happily ended up being good for the horses cause Judge McKibben found BLM in violation of Humane Standards.
This is a long involved story. You can read about at Wild Horse Education and RT Fitch’s site–Straight from the Horses Heart. It will be archived at RT’s site. Just go back to the end of Aug and read forward.
Please take a moment today and think good thoughts for the horses. BLM has NO STANDARD care for the horses. No feeding or watering. Nada. The courtroom may only have a few humans but the spirits of many horses will be there.
This is the fight. This is why advocates do what we do.
The case will be heard at 2 pm west coast time. That’s 5 pm on the east coast. Whatever your belief system is–THIS IS THE TIME. I ask that you think only of Mr. Cowan who has been so kind and generous with his time–helping Laura. Letting us slowly pay off her bill. Think good and happy thoughts for Judge McKibben who has this heavy burden to bear today. And please please don’t forget the horses.
As RT would say IT’S ABOUT THE HORSES AND BURROS. We stand as human witness for them. We try desperately to give them a human voice in Court cause they can’t speak for themselves. Forget the human ego. It isn’t about me.
It’s for every single wild horse and burro still out there being brutally rounded up every day by a system that just doesn’t care.
If you don’t want to do it “for me” cause you don’t like me or whatever–do it for all of Zenyatta’s unknown cousins–her genus sisters and brothers.

@Margaret–agree with you completely. We do like you! At least I do..lol!

CALLING ALL Z’ISTERS,
MARLENE DODGE OF VALLEY VIEW RANCH EQUINE RESCUE REPORTED THIS MORNING THAT ONLY $800 IS NEEDED TO RAISE THE NECESSARY FUNDS TO RANSOM THE 6 HORSES AT THE NEVADA FEEDLOT WHO ARE SCHEDULED TO GO TO A CANADIAN SLAUGHTERHOUSE SATURDAY. I’M SURE WE HAVE HAD A BIG PART IN MAKING THIS HAPPEN AND WE ARE ALMOST THERE.
TODAY’S DISCUSSION ABOUT FINDERS KEY — THE STAR OF “WAR HORSE” — IS SO VERY CLOSE TO THE SITUATION THESE 6 HORSES ARE IN. HORSES LIKE FINDERS WHO LACK TALENT ON THE RACE COURSE AND DON’T HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW THEIR TALENT ELSEWHERE — LIKE FINDERS DID — ARE PRIME TARGETS FOR ENDANGERMENT.
I’M VERY GREATFUL HE HAD OWNERS WHO DID NOT TURN TO THAT SOLUTION AND INSTEAD MOVED HIM IN DIRECTIONS THAT LED TO HIS SUCCESS! LET’S SEE WHAT WE CAN DO TO MOVE THESE 6 HORSES AWAY FROM ENDANGERMENT AND INTO GOOD HOMES AND PRODUCTIVE LIVES LIKE THOSE BEING LIVED BY FINDERS, ZENYATTA AND TASTY. THANK YOU ALL!
AGAIN, THAT WEBSITE IS http://www.valleyviewranchequinerescue.webs.com.

Thanks for the update, Jeanie. Only $800, but they need it by Saturday. OK, I’ll try to help. Just read where Goldikova has a date with Galileo. I sure hope Zenyatta has one spot on her dance card for Galileo. What a foal that would be.

So right you are — that would be some foal. Goldie’s will be some foal too!
Thank you for your support for endangered horses!

Seconding Jeanie’s comments. Thank you SO much to all who are helping/have helped. This is such a wonderful group, and Marlene is very much aware of how much we love horses.
On a related note–
CALLING ALL FL Dumplings– I just got a request in from Diane Lowery at Panhandle Equine rescue for someone who could help with transportation of 4 horses from Molino, FL to St. Cloud, FL sometime after Monday, the 30th. These will go to auction if no one steps up. Please help if you know someone.

Also, they are having a trail ride on Mar. 31 to raise money for rescues. Info at the above link.

Attention Sarah Campion, YOUR PICTURES ARE TOO SMALL!!! How can I enjoy Zenyatta, in all her lovely mother-to-be glory when I need a magnifying glass to see the pictures???? I can’t even have this picture as a desktop wallpaper (super duper sad face) because it’s too small! What a shame!!!
I love your blog, Z, but I wish John would take all of the magnificent pictures of you!
Love and hugz,
