Happy December 26th!
I hope all of you had a Blessed Holiday with family and friends. My day was very special! I was fortunate to spend lots of time outside with my new “BBF”…BEST BONDING FRIEND, Pirate Queen. We really relaxed, grazed and enjoyed ourselves. The day was PERFECT! Donna worked with us most of the day. It was fun to spend the holiday with her and all of my new Lane’s End Farm friends.
Sarah also made it possible for me to TANGO (that is a new phone thing) with Ann Moss on Christmas Eve. We have done FACETIME before…but this was the first time that we TANGOed. (I thought I’d be pretty good at this as I am known for my ‘dancing’!) It worked out perfectly…and was great fun!
John tried to call Sarah to do this as well! What a great way for me to keep in touch with my CA FAMILY and BARN 55! Hooray for technology!
Today is OPENING DAY at SANTA ANITA! I wish EVERYONE a GREAT MEET!
I also want to THANK all of you for the amazing cards and gifts. The entire FARM is enjoying all of these things. Dottie gave the cards to The Moss’ to enjoy. John read them as well. This is so special, so kind and so thoughtful of all of you! THANK YOU!
Donna is here! Time for me to go outside and PLAY! I love the schedule I am on at the FARM now!
Have a wonderful day! Please relax, have fun, and enjoy your friends and family! I think I’m now truly beginning to get the MEANING OF FRIENDSHIP AND FAMILY…AND HOW SPECIAL IT ALL IS!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

Good Eve Zen,
We got record snow here in Va but I am too old to roll in it so do that for me. I hope you still get your therapeutic massages. I think that helps you keep calm. My Rescue mom gives me a message every day. I retired from the track it helpes where I was hurt. I am so glad you retired and were never hurt. Love Harley Greyhound

To Kathryn Cogswell. I wasn’t sure – my eyes aren’t what they used to be. I agree, the picture is really beautiful and is very “Currier nd Ives”, some of my favorites. I was actually disappointed when I thought it wasn’t Z. Such a lovely picture. We’ll probably get some just as pretty.

So excited….Hope to see you first week of May!! Derby week for a Christmas Present…lucky me. Hope you can have visitors that week. I am sure many will be lined up to see you.

Zenyatta! You truly are the Horse of the 21st Century with modern technology and all! I bet Ann loved being able to connect with you in this way. She is a lovely lady & I am sure her heart is BIG like yours. I know it was a busy holiday weekend & it was so nice for the post. Cannot wait to hear about your New Year’s Eve plans! WIll there be fireworks at Lane’s End & maybe some Guiness to celebrate?
Love ya!

Hi Zenyatta:
I hope you had a very Merry Christmas with your new friends as Lanes End. I have never heard of Tango. I will have to ask those at work more about it. It sounds like fun!! Technology is amazing. So did you get a horrific snow storm in KY? Here in my part of New Jersey we got 12ins. However South Jersey got 24ins. I heard the mid-west really got hit with snow. I hope you didn’t get too much snow because you really like enjoy being out doors. Take care. Love you, Linda

Yes, my heart goes out to the owners & all at Lane’s End in regards to the passing of War Pass. Hopefully, whatever the cause, I hope he did not suffer. Very sad news.

Hi Queen Z. I am so glad you had a great day. We did too. I went to Santa Amita opening day. It was full of people. I talked to Mike Smith, he signed a picture for my friend in Idaho. He is a prince. He helped my hubby with our camera. He looked great and said he loved the new dirt track. Your picture is in the 2011 Santa Anita calendar. Later The Police (cover band) played. It was fantastic. We were all thinking and talking about you. Awesome day. I love you gorgeous. Thank you for the post.

I loved meeting you at Churchill this year, Zenyatta, (I met the Moss’s and Shirreffs 4 years ago but always enjoy seeing them). Please keep the diary posts coming. I look forward to reading them. They make me smile even when I have had a rough day.

Lane’s End, I am so sorry to hear about War Pass. What a shocking shame! He was so young. I hope you let everyone know what happened. RIP War Pass!! My thoughts are with you.

Z, it sounds like you are enjoying your romps with your new mare companion. Glad you were able to visit with Ann Moss. That lady really loves you Z. My guess is she will back to see you very soon. I am so glad to see that connection with your owner, I know she will demand nothing but the best for you.
I am sorry to hear about the death of War Pass while he was out in the paddock, I am praying it was not a paddock accident but from natural causes. It is much to soon to lose a promising young 5 year old stallion.

My sincerest condolences to Mr. Farish and Lane’s End Farm in the loss of War Pass. I am truly sorry to hear the news. Please know I am thinking of you.

Hi Sweet Girl. Merry Christmas all week. I hope today you got the care package from my class. The PO in Steubenville said you would get it today. ZENYATTA….
From time to time, people tell me
Lighten up its just Zenyatta.
Some of my happiest moments have come about by Zenyatta. Some of my saddest moments were shared with Zenyatta. In those days of darkness , the sight of this special mare provided comfort and purpose to overcome the day.
If you too think she is Just a Horse, you will probably understand phrases like
Just a friend
Just a sunrise
Just a promise
Zenyatta brings joy into our lives the very essence of beauty and unbridled joy.
Zenyatta brings out compassion and patience that makes us better people.
For me and folks like me she is not Just a Horse. She is the embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, memories of the past and the pure joy of the moment.
ZENYATTA brings out what is good in people and diverts our thoughts away from ourselves and worries of the day.
Someday people will understand she is not Just a Horse. She is the creature that gives us humanity and keeps me from being Just a Woman. Adapted from Just a Dog.

And To A QHG With Just The Truth To Go On: This says all anyone who gets it can ever say. But, if they don`t get it, sadly, it is their loss. ~ Thank You Very Much For This. [Some thoughts just need to be capitalized]. Khc.

Dearest Z–
Please pass along our deepest condolences concerning the death of War Pass. He was so young. What a tragedy. I’m so glad you are at LE to keep spirits lifted. Love you always.

Hmmm TANGO = yet another bit of info that you have imparted! Must check it out! Love you Z AND Team ZENYATTA!

Dearest Queen-Z & Team-Z, I read 2 bits of news today from Lane’s End Farm: the first was a very happy “bit”; Zentatta took her first roll-in-the-snow !! That’s a very positive sign; Z must be feeling very safe and confident, in her new home…Zentucky !! Did anyone get pictures of this ??
An hour ago, I got the second bit of news. One of Lane’s End Farm’s beautiful, young stallions, War Pass, has died, very suddenly and un-expectantly. It must be quite a shock, and very sad, for the owners and the staff at Lane’s End Farm. My sincere condolences to all who loved and cared for this magnificent horse. Hugs of Love, OraJean

Z – Thank you for bringing so much joy and happiness to so many lives this past year. For just a moment in time horseracing became alive again with all the splendor and excitement from days gone by. I among countless others were so privileged to have witnessed you win some of your 19 straight victories in your signature heartstopping style that I’m sure will not be repeated for a long long time if ever, especially from a female horse but what makes you so incredibly special is not only your humbleness and gentle nature, but your capacity to draw out the goodness in others and to unite lives….I salute you dear Queen Z and wish you a healthy and happy life at Lanes End and a beautiful 2011!

I read in Bloodhorse magazine that the 5-year old stallion War Pass had died after being brought back to Lane’s End from stud services in Australia. My deepest condolences to his owners and to Lane’s End. “Rest in peace” to a young and beautiful horse.
Zenny, I wish you a long and healthy retirement. I hope they don’t send you too far where we can’t keep track of you. Please continue to keep us posted.

I am so glad that you had a wonderful Christmas. I also had a good weekend spending time with my family. We exchanged gifts, but my favoret gift was a 2011 ZENYATTA calender. Now I can look at your picture every day. God Bless You Zenyatta you are one special lady.

I enjoyed to find this article. I like your point of view. Thanks a lot. Cheers

Good Morning Zenyatta,
I’m so glad you and your BBF are enjoying the new “fun” routine at the Farm. To not have a care in the world is spectacular and allowing all of us to share in that is the most generous gift of love.
Although you have much more important things to focus on and enjoy, I’d like to share with you a small tidbit I read this morning and my thoughts regarding it. Did you know, my dear girl, that the racehorse “Eclipse” (for which the end of the year awards are named) was undefeated in only 18 races back in the 18th century (I believe). So my thought is that 3 centuries later maybe a name change is in order and they should hand out “Zenyatta’s”! What do you think :)?
Have a wonderful blessed day all.
Roseann in Missouri
